"Alright....uhhhhh." The normally cool and collected vampire was a bit out of sorts now as the infant began to cry, she hadn't liked kids much as a human, and as a vampire she had tried to keep away from them, because she didn't want to think about what murdering a child would do to her psych if she couldn't control her thirst at any given moment. So needless to say she didn't have any idea how to handle a child let alone a crying baby. "O-ok, lets get you out of these clothes...that I just washed." Riko added the last part a bit bitterly, as she started to undress the baby, she noted that the little pup had stopped crying and was giving her a look as if she understood Riko's words and was trying to absolve herself of guilt with her adorable little gaze. In response Riko made a face at the infant that garnered her a laugh. Riko had the infants pants halfway off her hips before stopping and jumping up. "I should put a towel down." The vampire declared, glad she thought of it before there was a mess on her bed. She walked into her closet and pulled a clean one out before laying the child on it "There we go, now then..." Riko took off the infants pants annnnd... she was glad that she couldn't get nauseous. "What the hell did they feed you before they left you...." The vampire mumbled, she stood. "Don't move, I need more equipment." Quickly the vampire went down stairs to the kitchen where she grabbed paper towels and a bottle of water before returning, she thought about grabbing gloves, but decided against it. Wasn't like she could get sick anyway. "Wolves" She mused silently to herself as she wet the paper towel and began to wipe away the mess the child had made of herself making a face as she did so. Her face changed from one of mild disgust to irritation as she felt a presence nearing her, she didn't have to turn to know who it was. But she did turn when the boy started spouting nonsense. "What the hell are you talking about?" Riko asked him, briefly wondering for a moment if she shouldn't curse in front of the baby. "This child has an aura about her, I don't like it." The ghost repeated, Riko glared at him. "Well if you don't like it, you can always just oh ... I don't know.... get out of my room?"

Harry could tell Riko wasn't taking him seriously. He snarled a little, annoyed, and fidgeted anxiously with the collar of his sweatervest. (Harry had died in the 1940s and was doomed to forever wear the collard shirt, sweatervest, and khaki slacks he had been killed in.) "I mean it, Riko," he said, for once not using the nickname he had assigned to her a long time ago. "That baby... she's seen a lot."
The sound of the front door bursting open startled Harry. Then the faint jingling of keys, followed by swearing, and then, finally, footsteps on the staircase. Mercy appeared, holdi two plastic bags full of supplies. "I wasn't sure what we would need, so I got basically everything," she said. It took her a second to notice Harry standing near the doorway, but when she did and saw how uncharacteristically serious he looked, she slowed and watched him suspiciously. He just looked at her with big, worried eyes. Before she could ask him what his problem was, he disappeared. Kids. Left brow quirking, Mercy entered Riko's room and threw the bags on the floor beside the bed. "What the hell was that about?" she asked, nodding toward where Harry had been standing while she began pulling out the bags' contents. Diapers, formula, bottles, wipes, toys. And a book on parenting.

"Yea, yea and I've seen alot too Harry, your point?" Riko said rolling her eyes, she was older than both the boy and the baby after all and there was no way and hell that this child could have possibly seen more in its life than she had. Riko could hear the wolf coming before Mercy finally returned and Riko was glad for it she shot the wold a smile as she moved into the room with bags of supplies, hopefully she had brought Riko needed, she did however frown again when Mercy asked her what the deal was with Harry. "I don't know, he's spouting nonsense about not liking the babies aura and something about her seeing a lot. Just ignore him." Riko said annoyed. She took the bag from Mercy, digging out wipes and diapers. "Perfect!"[ She said as she began cleaning the infant properly now with the wipes. "I think we are going to need lotions for her, I hear diaper rash is hell to deal with...."

A weird aura? Um, okay. Maybe Harry was picking up on the fact that the baby was a full-blooded werewolf. Mercy wasn't sure how much sense this conclusion made, but Riko didn't seem to care, so she wouldn't give the boy's words too much heed, either.
When Riko mentioned lotions, Mercy swore under her breath. "Guess that's the one thing I didn't grab." She climbed onto the bed and sat criss-cross behind the baby. Ugh, the smell... Was this what the future held? Upset nostrils? Mercy pulled the collar of her T-shirt over her nose in an attempt to muffle the stench. "We're going to need to make another run, anyway," she said through the fabric of her top. "We don't have any clothes for her. And where is she going to sleep?"
Location-wise, Mercy already knew the answer to her question, even if Riko didn't. "I think that since you found her, she should sleep with you. We'll get her a crib or something. But I've seen the movies... babies cry a lot. You're looking at many sleepless nights. And something tells me you're going to make me help."
(I think it would be funny if they didn't get the crib right away, or maybe they weren't able to figure out the instructions to set it up, so the baby has to sleep between them with pillows around her. XD Forced teamwork!)

"That's also going to be a problem." Riko mumbled, referring to the infants clothes, she had always thought that getting an infant into a diaper would be more difficult than it was for her, but the child didn't move around much, so she managed. "For now I think the diaper will be fine, it stay warm up here, and I have blankets." Riko spoke, before pausing.... suddenly her eyes widened a bit. She realized that she had volunteered her room without really meaning too, and before she could try and take it back, Mercy was already running with it. "Well that's fine, I guess, its not like I sleep anyway." Riko murmured, looking down at the child and watching her nibble away at the side of her index finger, drooling all the while. "I hear that some babies like to sleep cuddled up next to warmth, and I'm not very warm." Riko added, sending a pointed look at Mercy. "So yes, I am going to need your help."(I sense a lot of broken wood in the coming future.)

Wait a second. That's not what Mercy had meant. She had implied that she would set up a baby monitor and take turns soothing the infant when she cried. Now, however, she was getting the sense that the child would be sleeping next to her. Mercy opened her mouth to protest, but saw no point in fighting, and so she grumbled something under her breath and gave in.
"I can help, too."
It was Delorna, the house's resident succubus. A tall woman with long, flowing blonde hair, Delorna spent most of her nights out working, but she was usually home during the day. She beamed as she entered the attic and glanced between Riko and Mercy. "'Bout time you two settled your differences," she mused, her southern drawl present in every word. "But I never in a million years thought you'd have a baby together."
Mercy snorted, but didn't respond.

"Why, oh why, do I get the feeling that you worded that sentence, that particular way on purpose, Delorna." Riko asked sweetly but it was known by now too all her roommates that when she talked in such a sweet tone that she was planning to get real rotten real quick. She supposed the infant would be learning that real quick as well. "Its cause I did love." Delorna said with a shrug, ignoring Riko as she began to make goofy faces at the infant causes the child to giggle happily. Riko gnashed her teeth loudly not pleased, the combination of the sound and the grimace on her face when noticed by the child seemed to frighten her, so much so that her eyes began to water, the tell-tale signs of tears to come. Quickly Riko straightened her face, holding up her hands trying to appear harmless. "No, no. I'm sorry, it's ok, everything is ok." She soothed, smiling, with her mouth closed, for good measure. It worked because the child seemed to calm down, though she was still pouting slightly, still in Riko's mind the crisis was averted. Riko let out a heavy sigh of relief. "You guys got a long way to go don't you. Have you even come up with a name for it?"Delorna asked, mostly pointing her question towards Riko. "Her, not it, and...." Riko paused for a moment, looking over at Mercy. "Elle?" She said a little unsure.

Mercy nodded in agreement. She liked the name Elle, the way it rolled off of her tongue. After straightening her T-shirt, Mercy scooped up the baby and began rocking her. "Awww, Elle, is Mama Riko scaring you?" she cooed, grinning, as she stared into the infant's sweet eyes. "It's okay, baby girl. I've got you." Elle's face brightened a little, and she began making gurgling sounds. Mercy silently wondered if Elle could sense that she was in the presence of one of her own kind. Not that it mattered. This whole house was her family now, and it was pretty diverse as far as species went.
Delorna chuckled and shook her head. "That baby's going to spend all of its life in counseling with you two as parents."
Mercy shot the succubus a look. "What the hell does that mean?"
"Only that you and Riko don't agree on anything," Delorna replied. "Not to mention, neither of you are especially... maternal."
Mercy growled. <******** you, Delorna."
"Case and point. Maybe try not to swear so much around the baby, sugar?"
Annoyed, Mercy picked up the book on parenting and threw it at Delorna. Delorna, amused, instantly caught it and smoothed out the cover, reading the title.
"Riko and I agree that we need to care for Elle and keep her safe," Mercy said. "At the end of the day, that's all we need to agree on."
"That's the foundation, maybe, but there's a whole lot more to raising a child than that," Delorna told her. "Whether or not you both have the maturity to handle it... Well, it's not looking great so far, but I guess we'll find out." She pushed the parenting book into Riko's hands. "When you've got a minute, read through this, yeah?" With that, Delorna started for the door, but she stopped just before descending the stairs and peered at the two women over her shoulder. "Oh, and keep her quiet, please, darlings," she said. "If Elle interrupts my beauty rest, I'll have no choice but to take care of her myself. And I don't think you'll like that." Finally, Delorna left, wearing a sickly-sweet smile and leaving a seething Mercy in her wake.
Mercy looked down at Elle, and her lips spread into a hostile smile. "If Delorna lays a finger on you, she'll find me laying next to her during the next full moon," she cooed, tone implying she was saying something much sweeter than was reality. "Won't she, Elle? Yes, she will."

Riko had to resist to throw the book again at Delorna as she walked down the stairs, but she held onto to the hard cover book, tightly gripping it within her cold fingers just to prove a point. Until the woman was gone, then she tossed the book on the bed, before she ended up ripping through that instead. Too calm herself she looked over at Elle in Mercy's arms, the girl playing with her and the infant smiling happily, that brought a sweeping calm over Riko that brought a smile to a vampire's face "It is a good thing that she can't understand you yet, or she might end up thinking its ok to snack on our housemates." Riko commented jokingly, hearing her voice Elle turned to her, and Riko was quick to smile and wave at the girl, making sure to paint as positive an image of herself in the girls mind as possible seeing as she had managed to scare the girl earlier. "Do you know when little wolves like her start shifting? And what happens to her on the full moon." Riko asked, keeping her tone light and worry free.

"No," Mercy said honestly. "Because there aren't any little wolves like her." She tapped the baby's nose playfully, and couldn't help grinning when Elle's face lit up and the began gurgling again. "Honestly, she may shift next week, during this upcoming full moon. I just don't know." She snuck a glance at Riko then out of the corners of her eyes. What was Riko getting out of all of this? The situation still didn't make sense to Mercy. Riko wasn't a cold, unfeeling person--most of the time--but this baby was a big commitment. Yet, despite the gravity of these unusual circumstances, Riko seemed calm. Happy, even, like she wanted this to happen. Why? As far as Mercy knew, she didn't even like kids. Why was Elle such a blessing? Why didn't Riko just drop Elle off at the police office or something?
It was during Mercy's attempt to solve Riko that she noticed the clock. Mercy's eyes widened. "Oh, s**t! Is that really the time?" She checked the watch on her wrist to be sure, but its message for her wasn't reassuring. She was late. Swearing under her breath, she climbed off of the bed and gingerly, but quickly, handed Elle off to Riko. "I gotta get to work," she said. "I'll be back around ten tonight, but tomorrow I'm off, so we can... I dunno. Prepare more then, I guess." Would they ever be prepared? Without even thinking about it, Mercy kissed Elle's forehead and flew down the stairs. After changing into her pants and chef's jacket, she hopped into her jeep to drive to work. As promised, she would return at ten.
(I think they're gonna get some visitors tonight...)

Riko had honestly forgotten that the werewolf busied herself with work during the day, it was something that Riko didn't really bother herself with, she didn't need a day job, and it had nothing to do with not being able to go out in the sun. She could go out in the sun if she wanted too, she just chose not too because it caused her skin to peel and she got real bad sun burn.....because she was a vampire. But she had no need to work, or to go outside, because in her many years she had learned how to make money in the easiest of ways. By playing the stock market. She had made a fortune betting on software, and companies like apple, and she has been living pretty ever since. Honestly, she had enough money to pay everyone's rent, but she wasn't that generous. "No, I don't support these plebs." Riko said in a sing song voice to Elle as she moved over to her computer. "You are my only responsibility, and one day I will teach you how to support yourself." Riko said sitting in front of her computer and turning it on, the light from the screen caught Elle's attention. "See this? This is a computer, and this along with internet combine to make the greatest creations of our era." Riko said, knowing good and well that Elle couldn't understand her. "But you must be careful 99.99% of the people you encounter on the net are idiots, but I'll teach you how to stay away from the bad people." Riko said, one day Elle would understand, and when she did, she would know that Riko wasn't only talking about people on the web.

This was it. This was the place. Shiva was certain of it. They had lost the baby's scent yesterday, but some leads had popped up this morning that had proven to be fruitful. It had taken all goddamn day to get to this point, though, and Shiva was eager. Eager to get the baby, to go home, to be done with this mess. Everyone in the pack was, especially the four other wolves traveling with her. Even though the baby's parents had committed treason, they had still at one point been members of the pack, and their severe punishments were felt, in one way or another, by everyone. Those that had helped the couple had paid dearly, too, and the aftershock of the blood spilled was still rippling through the tribe.
But they were here. The baby was within reach.
One complication: there was another smell. A vampire. How a vampire had gotten hold of a pureblood werewolf baby, Shiva had no idea. But no matter. They would relieve the monster of the infant soon... and rid the world of one less vampire in the process.
It was nighttime--maybe 9:45PM, Shiva guessed, but she wasn't sure. There hadn't been any time to check. Keeping to the shadows, she and the others approached the house. She signaled for two of them to go around the back. They would create a distraction, a subtle noise that the vampire would be sure to hear and want to investigate. And meanwhile, Shiva and the other werewolf remained on the other side of the house, silently unlocking and opening the window to sneak in.

Riko laid Elle back down on her bed once again freshly bathed and wrapped in a fresh diaper, and sleeping. Out like a light. Riko had talked idly to the girl for most of the night, just trying to get the wolf used to her voice. Elle seemed to like her fine enough, which made Riko happy as earlier she had managed to frighten the girl a few times earlier. With the pup sound asleep on her bed Riko made her way back to computer, ready to laze about on the web for the rest of the night, until Mercy returned, she knew the girl would probably just get home and head right to bed however, Riko sometimes envied the others in the house, Delorna and Mercy, they could still sleep whenever they wanted to. Riko didn't really remember what it felt like to sleep, but she remembered that she used to love doing it. It was one of those things that felt amazing even if it didn't make sense why. ... ... She was going to research it a little bit, she seen a few videos in her YouTube subscription page about sleep experiments. Maybe she'd get a better understanding of how it all worked. ...what was that? Riko with her keen hearing heard a rustling on the side of the house, followed shortly by sound of the barking of their neighbors dogs. She grit her teeth, hissing under her breath, nearly spitting venom. If someone was trying to break into their house, they were going to be very, very sorry when they find themselves face to face with a freshly fed Vampire. Riko stood, looking over to Elle who was still sleeping. She'd try to make this quiet so not too wake the girl. She exited the room quickly, twisting the lock on the attic door behind her. Before moving slowly down the stairs, it was only when she was on the second floor did she realize that this wasn't just a normal robbery, the smell. She could smell the bastards all over, she had thought the wolf smell had just been Elle or the lingerings of Mercy, but no, there were more, and the stench was stronger. The barking outside stopped, and Riko could hear multiple windows sliding open, around the house, taking a deep breath of useless air, Riko decided to shoot for the window closest to her.

It was the wrong window--in Shiva's eyes, anyway. But no matter. They were a flexible bunch, and they would adjust accordingly.
Shiva and her companion managed to slip into the living room before Riko started their way. After giving her partner a nod to signal that she could handle the vampire, she took to the shadows and waited. The other werewolf, meanwhile, snuck into the adjacent room in order to meet up with the rest and search the house. Their smell was present, but their footsteps were silent, their movements easily mistaken for a trick of the moonlight.
As Riko approached, Shiva pulled a knife from her boot. It wasn't a stake--she would need to improvise with that part--but it would have to do. And the moment Riko was in reach, Shiva lunged from the shadows to attack.

Riko swore she had heard everything up until the point that she entered the kitchen, it was as if all noise had vanished replace by the flapping of drapes in the wind, if Riko were naive she would believe that maybe she was only hearing things. But the fact that she heard drapes was a give away. They hadn't left their windows open. Riko exited the kitchen moving into the living room, to where the window was open, she looked at it for a moment before turning to scan the room, to her right she heard the sound of metal sliding and instantly she reacted, side stepping her attacker as the woman flew passed her, when the woman turned to face her Riko smirked. "When I came down here I was expecting a petty robber, but instead I found something lower on the food chain." Riko finished shrugging a bit. "No matter, I'm going to enjoy ripping you to shreds anyway mutt." Riko spat venom this time as the last words left her mouth and she lunged forward, cleaving a strike aimed to take the womans head clean off.
