Neo & Lux & Killian

"You did what?!" The Meowstic's fur stood on end as he stared at his partner in disbelief.

"I sent it to go get groceries." Nyx repeated the comment dismissively, returning to his task of dicing vegetables as though nothing was amiss about the comment.

"Nyx! He doesn't know the first thing about this place! No wonder he's been gone all day, he's probably lost somewhere trying to find his way back."

The Vulpix turned and raised a skeptic eyebrow. "You really think that a Golurk could get lost? A creature of that size hardly has to take ten steps to get from one part of town to the next, and the Guild is extremely conspicuous. I'm sure it'll be back any second, and if it's not--well then I suppose it didn't really want to join the Team after all." In truth, Nyx harbored the hope that their new Golurk teammate would not be returning, which is why he'd sent the creature on such a task to begin with. He knew that the endeavor would be fruitless, since the construct wouldn't have any knowledge of the things he'd been instructed to obtain, but he also knew that it wouldn't return until it succeeded, because that was what it had been taught to do. If it didn't succeed, it wouldn't come back: nothing else to it. The problem was Neo seemed to have taken a liking for it, just as he did for just about anything that had a name, so he hadn't dismissed the Golurk's disappearance. No, now it seemed as though he'd already adopted the creature under his wing, and there was no stopping it when Neo did that.

Just as Nyx had dreaded the words were out of Neo's mouth in a heartbeat. "No, I'm sure he did. I'll go and look for him and bring him back home. Poor guy, he's probably so confused." Shaking his head, Nyx continued to dice without another word. This was something he'd have no further part in. Realizing his partner's reticence, Neo turned around to look at the other members of his Team and found that Lux appeared to be relatively unoccupied. "Hey," Neo said, sidling over to the resting Lucario. "Would you mind coming with me to find Killian? I'm sure it won't be a problem but in case it is you could track him by his aura, right?"

Lux opened his eyes, turning them to regard his captain. He'd been meditating, but the strong taste of starfruit had stirred him even before his captain spoke. "I could," the Lucario replied, rising to his feet. "Killian's trail may be cold, but his aura is very distinct. I'm sure I could follow it anywhere." The absence of anything in the Golurk's aura was remarkable in and of itself, and the lack of a presence was easy to follow in a world overflowing with presences. "Are we heading off now then?"

Neo nodded. "The quicker we find him the better. It'll be dark soon and I don't know if he'll be able to find his way back with just the light of the moon." Lux chuckled softly, nodding and following along complacently as the Meowstic led the way out the door. Neo was a charming one, if a bit naive at times. Golurk weren't creatures that had difficulty with low-light, their inner energy providing them illumination whether they wanted it or not, but the feline's concern was utterly genuine--it was somewhat adorable. When they reached the Guild's exit, Lux stared out into the haze of colors and flavors, picking up on the vague traces of Killian's dull gray after a matter of moments since his presence was so enormous. Indicating the direction they should head, Lux set out down the road in the direction of the marketplace with Neo close on his heels, the pair searching the visible and invisible for their giant friend.

Neo was the one to notice first, his ears picking up on a faint but noisy pounding in the distance; Lux recognized it a moment after when he felt the tremors of the earth beneath his paws. "This way!" the Meowstic said, beginning to run down a side street in the direction of the sound, eyes scanning the distance for any sign of the enormous figure among the tall buildings that lined this part of town. A moment later a gasp accompanied his recognition that one of the buildings silhouetted in the sunset was not, in fact, a building at all, and the feline sent out a Psychic pulse to hail the giant. "Killian! Over here!"

The Golurk in question was still cradling Skullbasher in one hand and the excess of groceries in the other when he felt the ripple of a familiar consciousness in his vicinity. This was followed up by a pulse of Psychic that caused his eyes to brighten, though it had been an unnecessary warning, and he turned ninety degrees on his heel and began walking in the direction of the Green-Eyed One Friend and the Light One Friend who he called masters. This would likely occur without warning for Skullbasher, since Neo's Psychic had been specifically directed, but it wouldn't be too long before the two pairs met one another in the middle--Killian and Skullbasher above, Lux and Neo below.

"Killian!" Neo said happily, his tail swaying back and forth in delight. "I was so worried about you! Were you coming home? Are you alright?"

As the Meowstic doted on his new Team member, Lux frowned, finding an unexpected taste on his tongue. There was Killian's vague bitterness, yes, but also the unexpected fresh flavor of a just-ripe avocado caused his mouth to water as he stared at the pale blue aura that stirred in the Golurk's hand. "Killian!" the Lucario said, staring up at the mass of grey before him. "Put the Rampardos down." It was a brisk command and it was promptly followed by the giant, who leaned down to place the Other One Friend Called Skullbasher before his two masters. "Good," Lux said, nodding to the giant, "Unless it is necessary or requested you should not pick others up." The Golurk gave a soft chime of affirmation and nodded, understanding the command he'd been given. Still, the Other One Friend hadn't seemed to mind too terribly, but perhaps he'd just been being generous. Instruction done, Lux turned his sightless gaze on the Rampardos, watching the way his aura fluctuated with surprise. "I hope that Killian hasn't done anything to offend," the Lucario said, "He still hasn't been instructed in the ways of the city."

Neo looked utterly surprised and abashed by the sight of the Rampardos Killian had been holding, his jaw dropping in surprise as he looked back to the giant. "Killian! Why did you do that to him?" The Meowstic said, clearly distressed. Turning to Skullbasher himself, Neo bowed his head in apology. "I-I'm so sorry. I didn't realize it but I guess he doesn't know any better."
