Dexter Olsen "Hey, pay attention!"" They don't really hurt," he said, not bothering to tuck his shirt back in and leaving the first two and last two buttons undone. Sitting back, he crossed his arms behind his head and looked over to Vinny. " It hurts less than a bee sting. It's more like... Well, imagine a dozen baby bees stinging you. It's not terrible like a grown-up bee, but still smarts a bit." He shrugged carelessly. " At any rate, I love getting tattoos. I'm going with Alan Brandt, the physics teacher, to get another one next week. If you want, you could join us. You don't have to get one, just help me and him pick one out." "I get paid to teach your stupid butt, not amuse you!"

Vinny Leavitt Dexter was trying to comfort him, he realized this, but Vinny couldn't help but grimace at the thought of being stung by so many bees. He was still trembling when he was offered to go with practically the entire science department of the school, and had Dexter looked carefully he would've seen that the guitarist was a shade paler. "Umm... I might hold off on that. Uh... It'd be weird if a student was found hanging around just teachers, right?" he said in an attempt to hide his blatant fear.

Dexter Olsen "Hey, pay attention!"" You're just afraid of the needles," he teased, although he nodded. " But alright, I won't make you come with me." He looked over as the rain continued, not showing any signs of lessening. " Looks like we'll have to run through the rain again after lunch. I don't think it's going to stop raining anytime soon." "I get paid to teach your stupid butt, not amuse you!"

Vinny Leavitt "I can't even see which direction the gym is." Vinny said while squinting in hopes of getting a better glimpse through the rain. No such luck. If he could get to the gym, though, that'd be good. His athletic clothes were at least dry, and he could wait there long enough for the rain to end or for Ryuu to give him a ride after school.

Dexter Olsen "Hey, pay attention!"Dexter kicked his foot a little, then stood and walked over to the other side of the gazebo, trying to see something through the rain. It was coming down so hard, he couldn't see the school building or even if there was anyone near, which he was decently sure there weren't. He sighed, then walked back to Vinny, although he stood in front of him instead of sitting. " We may have to entertain the idea of waiting out the rain in here," he said, voice a little more authoritative than before. " I can call and see if I have a friend who can come bring us an umbrella or something, but God only knows how long that'll take." "I get paid to teach your stupid butt, not amuse you!"

Vinny Leavitt Vinny frowned when his suspicions were confirmed, but he wasn't necessarily disappointed by it. At least he was in good company. "I doubt an umbrella would help with this wind as harsh as it is." he said and looked over at the wall of rain. The wind was hectic, but when it blew it carried half of the world with it. "It's not so bad, though." he said in an attempt for optimism as he looked up at Dexter. "At least you're interesting to talk to, and we have our food from the restaurant." Although it was probably soggy by now. "And we've got music to pass the time with. Any requests?" he chuckled while picking his guitar back up. It would probably be just one more song before he'd be forced to put even this up. The humidity was starting to affect the guitar's wood, and keeping it out any longer would cause it to crack.

Dexter Olsen "Hey, pay attention!"Dexter looked down at the guitarist, then let himself smile and chuckled. " I guess you're right. I'd rather be in here with you than one of the other brats I teach." He sat beside the blonde, leaning back and thinking for a moment. " Well, you said that you enjoy classical guitar. Why don't you play me something that you really like? The music that a person loves says a lot about them as a person." "I get paid to teach your stupid butt, not amuse you!"

Vinny Leavitt Vinny considered it and tilted his head in thought while positioning his hands. There were plenty of songs he loved to play, but whichever was his favorite depended on the mood he was in. He looked at the wall of rain besides him. A song that could make even this serene would be nice. He strummed a few chords thoughtlessly, finding a key he liked best. When he found a sweet-sounding note he tilted his head back down and closed his eyes, envisioning the music. It was a sweet and simple melody, filled with arpeggios and a contemporary sound. Vinny's fingers moved slowly and steadily, even as the music picked up speed; he maintained his relaxed composure. It was like watching a pianist how his fingers glided over each string with their own emotion, even his left wrist gracefully moved around the guitar's neck when he needed higher notes. As the relaxing song nullified the rain's roar, Vinny lost his connection to reality. He was wholly focused on the music now, nodding his head both for expressionism and to keep time. The song finally came to its end and Vinny played the final chord sweetly, letting the sound echo across the gazebo. He opened his eyes, and though they were still clouded with dreaminess he looked up at Dexter. "That's only one of the songs I know." he said with a distant smile. "I remembered hearing it from an old movie, and I wanted to play it."

Dexter Olsen "Hey, pay attention!"Vinny is much more of a classical talent, thought Dexter as he watched the blonde guitarist lose himself in the melody he played. The notes floated around them, filling the small gazebo with a strange level of comfort and warmth while also creating a barrier for the rain, only permitting enough to create the mood. The young man's talent drew a familiar emotion from the teacher's heart, although it wasn't the only thing he could think about. The music, although lovely, didn't half-compare to the stunning aura emitting from the musician. He seemed far more handsome than ever before, less like a young student with an inability to deny any weaker being and more like a man with desires, with drive, with passion. It was enough to weaken Dexter's knees, making him happy he was sitting. And also making him anxious. Realizing that he was more attracted to Vinny than previously thought, Dexter looked away as he felt his cheeks begin to warm, covering his mouth with his hand and bowing his head. " It's beautiful," he praised after Vinny spoke. " You really are remarkably talented, Vincent." "I get paid to teach your stupid butt, not amuse you!"

Vinny Leavitt "Thanks." the guitarist smiled. "Guitar was my hobby as a kid. Sometimes the background music would make customers more willing to negotiate real estate prices with my mom, or we'd go through the whole "child wanting to express himself" schtick." He looked down at his shining guitar, seeing all the memories in its glossy reflection. "The more I played it the more I loved it. I think once the band's not popular anymore I'll go to college and study more about the guitar, maybe to teach other guitarists." he said then looked at the teacher, trying not to ask him why he was acting weird. "Did you always want to be a science teacher when you were a kid?"

Dexter Olsen "Hey, pay attention!"He nodded, although he wouldn't look at the teen. " My father's a teacher back in Louisiana. So was my mother." He shrugged, his hand on his mouth moving to scratch the back of his neck. " I wanted to be a teacher like them when I was little. I didn't have many friends, so I'd teach my stuffed animals. When I got into high school, I was better at tutoring the other students than my teachers were, so I usually ended up being the anything-tutor. Science was something I was really good at, so when I went to college, I took every science class they had and settled on chemistry. Haven't looked back." He crossed his legs, raising his head and staring out into the rain as the memory of his mother resurfaced. " My mother used to make fun of my dad every chance she had since he was a science teacher and she was a math teacher. I remember she used to call him the Juliet to her Romeo, since he couldn't climb a terrace to save his life. When she found out I wanted to be a science teacher, damn woman nearly yanked my ear off, she was so cross!" Dexter laughed a little, then sighed. He really did miss her. "I get paid to teach your stupid butt, not amuse you!"

Vinny Leavitt Vinny laughed a little when he heard Dexter's background story. It was hard enough to picture the teacher as a child, all he could really picture was a miniature (and angrier) version of him. The very idea of that talking to a class of stuffed animals made the guitarist laugh under his breath. He'd laugh harder, but he didn't want to offend the man and get an essay assignment thrown his way. The mood changed when the story of Dexter's family came. Vinny grew somber as the man sighed. Something was hidden in those words. "Where are your parents now?" he asked gently, afraid that he had a good idea.

Dexter Olsen "Hey, pay attention!"Dexter moved to sit straight-forward on the bench, his elbows on his knees and his hands clasped. " Dad's still in New Orleans, teaching his heart out and refusing to retire. My Mom, though, she died when I was twenty-four. I was about to graduate and trying hard to concentrate on studying during a frat party when my dad called me and told me that Mom had had a sever heart attack. I just barely got home in time to say goodbye." He paused, turning his head to look at Vincent. " Sorry, everything's all depressing now. Rain doesn't help. Let's change the subject." "I get paid to teach your stupid butt, not amuse you!"

Vinny Leavitt Vinny frowned. He shouldn't have asked, he shouldn't have made Dexter have to talk about it, and now they were both stuck in this quiet atmosphere. It wasn't like he could comfort the man, either, because that would just be poking at an old wound, wouldn't it? "Umm... How'd you start playing guitar?" he asked sheepishly as a desperate attempt to get rid of the tension.

Dexter Olsen "Hey, pay attention!"He sat upright, crossing his arms behind his head and staring at the ceiling in thought. " My roommate knew how and decided to teach me one day," he said. " Out of nowhere, too. We were talking about this party that was coming up, and he asked if I wanted to learn how to play the guitar. I said yes and ended up the resident guitarist for my fraternity." He looked over at the instrument and its case. " How old is your guitar?" "I get paid to teach your stupid butt, not amuse you!"
