"Just be sure that you don't just look passed them because they appear docile, they are the worst out there from what I've seen. After seeing one of them threaten Nae... Ah, the Lady Naevius and hold her at knife point I can't say that I trust them. Not to mention various other crimes I've seen them commit, they are a devious lot. Just becareful when dealing with them is all that I ask, Nuri." He wanted him to survive long enough to become his Captain after all. Provided of course he wasn't sent to his doom dealing with bandits along the border. One would think that well trained troops should be sent to secure and protect their borders from such incursions but who knew what the higher ups were thinking these days? Certainly not Saraf, that was for certain.

Saraf watched the way that Nuri moved, taking in his form, the flow of each motion he made, his training seemed to be coming along well which was something that Saraf could appreciate. Now, to see what he was really capable of Saraf thought to himself as he shifted his own stance, changing from using the sword one handed to two, and moved to strike again. He'd use more speed, more strength, would see about trying to tag Nuri here and there. He wasn't out to hurt him, just taps here and there, going for joints especially. He wanted to see what the man had in him, to see if he was really one that Saraf wanted at his side.

Only the strongest needed to apply when it came to shaking things up in the manner that Saraf desired. A new order, one that would help to bring them back from what they had been through. To be defeated by a bunch of savages, those who didn't even seem to get alone from what he'd seen. The Obans as a whole had done something really wrong to lose against such a lot, a weakness that needed mending.

Nuri made no response, his focus on the fight before him. He took the words to heart, tying them into the back of his mind to remember later. It was worthwhile, as it would be foolish to trust the face of anyone. Even the nicest face could disguise the worst of intentions. If he wanted to protect the land, his family and his friends, he needed to learn to keep an open mind and a fair hand as he worked to fight against the darkness that spread across the world like an illness.

That thought drove him to fight harder. With every hit that he took, he moved a little quicker, dodged a little swifter, and made sure not take that hit again. Not only was he proving himself to Saraf, but he was proving himself to himself. His movement was still amateur at best - there was no true shining with the movements. A sloppy mistake caused him to get a smack to his shoulder or joint. And yet his determination caused him to move again.

Nuri had no clue exactly how determined the man before him was. As they finished their dance, he was sweating and panting, but he felt pleased with himself. He settled the tip of the practice sword on the ground, nodding and raising his chin with a huff.

"Well met..." He said after a beat, before rolling his shoulder and cringing as the joint popped, "You know how to make your hits count."

Saraf was impressed, it was easy to tell that Nuri was still a beginner, but he showed a lot of promise. He was like a gem in need of polish but the sort that would be well worth the time and effort he thought to himself as the other backed off. The moment that Nuri's sword touched the ground Saraf hefted his own up with one hand, resting it on his shoulder, and gave a smile, "You did very well, I am most impressed, Nuri." He told the other Oban, then gave a little chuckle, "Well, it's something that has become even more important to me these days, being able to make every last hit count. I suggest that when you practice you learn to do the same. Learn how to go for vulnerable areas, like the joints for instance, it will help put your opponent down easier. Not to mention it will do so without killing them, one doesn't always want to do that. There are times we will need them alive, like when we are in need of information for instance."

Setting his weapon aside Saraf moved in closer to Nuri, lifting a hand to his shoulder, inspecting it closely before giving him a pat on the back, "It might be a bit sore, but continue to keep moving it and stretching it so that it doesn't stiffen up on you." He cautioned, not wanting to see Nuri put out of action before he had hit him a little too hard.

"Come on, we will get some water." He said, knowing full well that it was something they both needed after such a hard work out. As he started across the courtyard toward the door the perzi that had been observing them followed in Saraf's wake like a shadow.

Nuri mumbled a soft thanks at the complement, his eyes raised as he listened to everything that Saraf had to say. It was much more than what he got when practicing with others, but that most likely had to do with the fact they had been training one-on-one. When he was with others, it often was a barked correction or nod of approval and that was it. This had been so much more helpful and it was barely a few moments of a statement.

"It is nothing, more surprised than anything. I guess they just haven't gotten to joint play yet in our training." He responded with a jest, rolling his shoulder one last time before following him back toward the door and thinking over the fight once more.

As they entered the house once more, Nuri finally spoke up what was on his mind, voicing his frustration at last, "In fact...I've found they are lacking a lot of teaching. It seems they are more focused on weeding us out that they don't attempt to find out skills...and I've been struggling to identify the weapon I want to focus on. Maybe you can give me some insight. I noticed today there were some warriors fighting with familiars. What does one need to do to go down that path?" It sounded foolish as soon as he asked, but so far the drills Nuri had gone down were all weapons, and nothing in terms of the animals. He wanted answers.

Saraf turned to look over at Nuri as he explained what his training was like, similar to his own in fact. He gave a shake of his head, "Foolish, they should be putting their all in training all their troops instead of trying to beat the others senseless to find their favorites." He shook his head as he walked into the kitchen of their house, picking up a water pitcher that his mother had set out, and poured each of them a glass of it.

He handed one glass off to Nuri, taking a sip from it, then gave a chuckle, "What does one need to go down the path of a beast master?" He asked, thinking about it for a moment, then said, "You need balls of steel and to possibly be equal parts brave and stupid. Those creatures that they were working with back there, those tiny little things, that's just the beginning. During the war I saw the Oban Beast Masters leading around monsters that were taller then the buildings in Sulburi, huge war beasts. One man was able to control one of those things with a gesture and a word, it was quite impressive. If you think you have the spine for it I commend you, the most I an deal with is Elred there." He motioned at the cat that was always following after him.

Leaning against the counter he asked, "Tell me, is that the path you're thinking about?" He was impressed if the guy was actually wanting to do such a thing, to deal with various beasts, and one day one of those giant war beasts. It would be more then helpful to have someone like that as a friend for sure.

Nuri looked deeply contemplative as Saraf spoke, having not heard of the large beasts from the war with such detail. Sure, there were rumors, exaggerations even. What Oban hadn't heard of the great beasts that helped them fight during the war? But to be as tall as buildings? That alone was quite a feat, and if Saraf had seen such beasts, well that would be a sight indeed.

"I've found myself quite taken with training a janarim I found in the wild a few weeks ago. I was thinking of declaring myself a tamer when I finished my training."

It was the first time he had voiced his thought out loud, and as he said it he found his doubts weren't there. The confidence was all that was left in his voice, and that alone was satisfying. Yes, admitting it out loud was a good step in the right direction.

Saraf couldn't help but to laugh, "Declare yourself a tamer, huh? I've never heard it put like that but I think I like the sound of it." He said, finishing off his drink before he set his cup down, "If you feel that its the path that you're meant to follow then you should do it, not as if anyone could mock you for such a path, I've seen greater meant give tamers and the beasts they train wide berth after all."

Why would someone be stupid enough to tell Nuri otherwise after all, especially if he was going to go about training something as big and dangerous as a janarim of all things? He'd heard that they were something that was almost impossible to capture and train, that one had to get them as a pup to have a chance with them. If he was able to find a wild one and tame it then Saraf would be more then just impressed with this one's abilities, not only in the realm of beast taming but just over all. He'd have to be special to get a wild janarim to come to his side. Yes, Saraf most certainly wanted to remain friends with this one he thought to himself.

"If you ever need any help with anything just let me know. I might not be able to really do much when it comes to the tamer aspect of things, but anything else. Especially if you want to spar again, that was a lot of fun." And it was far better to train with someone as opposed to just taking swings at a training dummy, training with Nuri was bound to help the both of them improve if you asked Saraf.

Maybe everything wasn't as difficult as Nuri assumed. Saraf made it seem much simpler than Nuri saw it, and compared to the expectations his father put upon him, being a tamer wouldn't be bad at all. The weight and tension that was left in his shoulders was finally gone, and he felt as if he were ready to move on and take the fabled trials.

"Of course, I may not be a worthy partner now, but soon enough I'm sure I'll be able to give you a good run." He gave a toothy smirk at that, before glancing out the window and eyeing the setting sun. It was getting late, and he was most likely overstaying his welcome.

"I should head off, but I will take you up on your offer soon. I will admit that this was probably the best training I've had in a long time."

Saraf gave a bit of a grin, "Oh really? Alright, I look forward to it, Nuri. Let me see the warrior that you are going to become." He was rather eager to see it, not to mention eager to have a sparring partner that meant to give him a 'run for his money' since he was always looking for different ways to challenge himself so that he could overcome what was wrong with him. He felt that Nuri was going to be that person, which just made him look forward to the next time that he came around for another match.

"Heading out, huh? Alright, I will escort you to the front door then." He said, finding that he was actually a little sad to see him go. Nuri had been an interesting guest indeed, one that he looked forward to spending more time with again in the future. Walking with Nuri down the hallway, with Elred following in their wake, Saraf made his way to the front door. Upon reaching the door he pushed it open before he said to Nuri, "You're welcome to stop by any time you like, Nuri, or to join me once training is over as you did today." It would likely easier for them to meet up after training since it wasn't a sure thing that Saraf would be home if Nuri stopped by without notice. Still, he'd leave the invitation open ended to increase the chances of them being able to chat and spare.

Nuri was proud of what they had accomplished, and where he had stood with the very skilled warrior. He was proud to have met a strong man and to have earned some sort of respect from him. As they walked to the front door, Nuri turned one last time to Saraf and nodded at his words.

"I'll do that...and when I do join the Army, hopefully we can talk more about where to go from there. I look forward to having you as an ally, and fighting with you as my brother-in-arms."

Respect was always important, so Nuri gave one last bow before headin gout the door. He still took note of where the man lived, and knew where he trained as well. He meant what he said, and treasured the fact he had one ally he could look toward when he finished his training and became an official member of the army. Until then, it was time to work harder and use Saraf as another motivation to become the best he could be.
