Emboldened, Dawson grabbed an armful and played one of the victory tunes from Final Fantasy in his head to celebrate. (FF7's was by far the most iconic to him.)

Rather than swim out, however, he decided to investigate further. What he noticed was that the cave wasn't quite a cave but a tunnel of sorts and, bracing himself for the unknown with uncharacteristic courage, dove further in. As he came out the other side, he noticed there were even more rocks at the bottom.

What he didn't realize was that the tunnel had an offshoot, and he turned back to check it out. Little did he know that the cave wasn't quite empty.

Thankfully he was already hyper aware of his surroundings. The moment he felt something n** at his legs, Dawson got the hell out of dodge.

And damn did they hurt. Dawson thrashed about as the tentacles of God Only Knew What threatened to crush him. It took some hefty shield bashing and a lot of adrenaline to finally break himself free and get out.

Dawson was very much done with the sea now thanks. Unfortunately, the sea was not done with him: an enraged sea turtle nipped at his heels on the way up.

Its mouth seemed malformed--or at least, he didn't remember most turtles having teeth? It snagged on one of his fins, and he pried it off with his shield.
