Unsettled by their conversation Allie laid her ears back, flicking her tail in apprehension as she considered the possibilities. Kalona probably ate foals for fun, she'd be a snack! But she was on the small side, a bit leggy still and lean... They'd probably think she was stringy! Not even worthy of breakfast! Though maybe with Rose, together they'd rank an actual meal. But she didn't really want to find out, wanted to be as far away from 'breakfast' as she could manage it. And no, being dinner or dessert didn't sound any better. "Super creepy... Them and Skinwalkers... The creepiest..."
And she wanted nothing to do with them.
The grullo filly gave a somber nod in agreement with Rose's statement. Truth be told, Allie really didn't much care how they managed to get away from Kalona, running or hiding or swimming, anything would work. Some of her friends had wings, weren't they lucky? They could at least be sure to get away from most of the Skinwalkers, though she had heard there were bats and scary birds that were just as bad as the bears and cats and wolves... Maybe it was just as dangerous in the air as it was on land... Maybe she should wish on a star to be a Mer instead! They didn't have scary ocean beasts, right?
Jolted out of her musings, the filly shook herself back to the present.
"Well I guess with a big enough hidey-place in the brambles, you could bring friends... And extra snacks, just in case. Maybe a basket or a bucket with water? Then you could really stay awhile, in case they were lurking outside waiting for you." She grinned and bounced on her hooves as well, pleased at Rose's approval of the plan. "A party would be great!"
Wait until her friends and family heard about this, it was going to be great! In high spirits, Allie eagerly watched Rose pace toward the maple tree she had decided to climb.
"Yay! Go for it Rosie!" She giggled. "You can do it!"
Or, erm, maybe not? Maybe tree climbing took a lot more practice... At the declaration, Allie blinked slowly, then gave a soft giggle. "No, I guess not. Not today then? Lots of tree climbing practice. Ok, so, a back up plan... Maybe a different strategy altogether, because if you can't climb that tree then there is no way I can!"
She gave a thoughtful sigh, snatching a mouthful of grass and chewing thoughtfully. "Maybe we should learn to swim, really well? I'm not sure Skinwalkers could swim, so it might be a good way to get away from them, if you had to? I mean, I guess a kalona could learn how to swim, but if you were really good at it you could out-swim them to a place of safety."
