Venari Katherine & Arcturius
"Thank you." Katherine smiled warmly. It had been nice to talk to another of her kind, especially in such a simple and friendly manner. The prospect of being able to meet him again--of being friends--was a nice one. "Our team name is Venari. If you ask, they should be able to tell you where my room is. I would love to hear some stories about what happened back then if you have the time."
But it was time for her to go, so she politely waved. "Have a nice afternoon Anues. I hope I'll see you soon!"
Given that Anues had nothing to say to keep her there or slow her progress, she would adjust her belt so that Arturius once more faced behind her and she would depart down the hallway. The strange "eye" on the crossguard would watch Anues for a moment as the pair departed but it would quickly glaze over, as if closing.

Anues nodded. "Take care, Katherine." As to Arcturius, he had no words. It seemed content being an observer, if not just an object in interaction. The Gardevoir merely continued idly down the hall for a moment as his eyes drifted to the window for a moment in passing. He finally vanished in a silent teleport to tend to an otherwise haunting presence that'd been bothering him the bulk of this meeting.

”I can't make every decision for you, you know.” Cimm was grumbling at the floating spirit. Mana averted its gaze from the piercing yellow stare. Sometimes the Gastly wondered if it would be under a constant cold sweat if it had a true body to do so with. The Luxio gave it that same menacing glare often enough for it to be a definite possibility.
”I-I know...” The ghost's stare flicked upwards for a moment when it spoke, only to look around again at the roof shingles when Cimm continued with his disapproving stare.
”Look, if you want it, its yours. You know how useful it would be for the Team, and I wouldn't trust Nuna or Kennick with it,” He sighed in a grouching manner as he stepped back and began to turn away from the veranda and back to the stairwell that led into the Guild's halls, ”I already said why I don't want it, and what it'll be used for. But it's not something I'm gonna force you to do. It's not even that big of a deal. Just make a decision soon.” And with a flick of his tail, the cat was gone, leaving the apparition by its lonesome on the rooftop to begin thinking about what had just been asked of it.
”Why can't you just tell me to take it?” Mana thought bitterly, though the irritation was directed more towards itself than its team leader. The ghost never liked to make decisions on its own, and whether Cimm thought so or not, this was a big thing to ask for. At least it was to Mana. All the ghost wanted was a push in the right direction. A hint as to what path it should take. But, no, the deadpan stare and tone of Cimmerian the Unreadable had forced it to this point of inner conflict.
Too afraid to follow after Cimm in case he demanded an answer right away, Mana stayed put and gazed around in a vacant manner with its troubled stare, unable to even enjoy the light breeze or pretty scenery around the guild.

Air Air was alone, having stepped out for a moment to get a better look at some of the areas around the Guild. Since he'd arrived, things had been so hectic the Ditto had hardly had the chance to see anything, except when Neo or Nyx needed his assistance with something inside the Guild. He'd asked his Leaders for a short break so that he could look around a bit, and they'd agreed without hesitation, so here he was.
The Ditto had made his way around the Guild in various forms, shifting whenever he spotted someone wandering around whose shape caught his fancy, though he hadn't approached anyone. This trip was for his benefit alone, and he didn't know when he'd have another opportunity like this--what with Eliot and Clara demanding so much of the Team's attention--so he was making the most of it. Air ended his journey at the rooftops, having gone from the bottom to the top of the building, and he stepped out onto the area with excitement, feeling the wind rush into his face. He wore a Luxio's form currently, who he'd brushed by on his way up the staircase, and the breeze felt wonderful against the static that built up in his dark fur. Approaching the handrail with wide eyes, his yellow stare was filled with amazement as he stared down at the world below and how small it appeared from up here. This must be how Pokemon who couldn't fly experienced what it was like: it was really wonderful.
Feeling a slight prickling sensation at the nape of his neck, Air turned when he sensed the presence of another Pokemon nearby. He hadn't been expecting to have a conversation, but he didn't mind since it would give him some more time up here. "Hello?" he said curiously, looking around for the source of the sensation. Although he unknowingly wore Cimmerian's form, his voice was very distinctly his own as he called out, and his expression was one of interested curiosity, which wasn't likely one often seen upon the Luxio's face.((I wasn't sure whether Mana would stay visible or go invisible on seeing "Cimm" come back up again, so I didn't have Air engage it directly so you can do with it whatever you please~ If Mana's visible then Air just overlooked it, no big deal.))

Mana had been zoned out and had nearly missed the reappearance of the Captain too late. It held in a gasp as its mind frantically went into overdrive, still not ready to give an answer. As a subconscious defense, the ghost became intangible and camouflaged itself. Mana was blinking rapidly as it tried to stay as stealthy as possible, staring with bated breath at the dark furred Luxio. But there was something odd with the image before it. Something was off about Cimm. It didn't dawn on the spirit what exactly was missing until it took a closer look at the feline's face. The scowl was gone, replaced with wonder and pleasure. That wasn't an expression it had ever seen on Cimmerian. And his eyes didn't make Mana nervous. This complete change of demeanor had the ghost utterly baffled as to how it should react to the situation.
Unfortunately Mana had let its guard down in its confusion and allowed its presence to be made known to the sensitive awareness of the cat. The apparition only became more befuddled when Cimm spoke in a strange voice that wasn't nearly as deep or intimidating as it usually was.
”Cimm....?” Mana started carefully, echoing voice rising at the end of the name to draw it up into a question. Looking closer, the yellow bowtie Cimm usually wore was missing as well. Mana knew it couldn't avoid the situation anymore whether or not this was actually her Captain, and made itself visible slowly while coming down to eye level with the Luxio, staying a few feet away. "Is... Is that you?" Mana knew it would be in for a demeaning, harsh, sarcastic scolding if this was indeed Cimm, so it flinched involuntarily at the end of the possibly stupid question as a preemptive reaction.
((no, I'd say you pegged the little ghost. Mana's usually invisible anyways, as it's a sort of defense mechanism, I suppose. Good call. ))

Air Air blinked with surprise when he heard a name called out to him that wasn't his own by a voice he didn't recognize. It was strange and echoing, unlike anything he was used to hearing around here, but he recognized it as a Ghost Type's after a moment--Clara's young voice was like that. Well, that would explain why he didn't see a speaker anywhere. The unusual name also clicked after a moment, when he realized that the mysterious speaker must recognize the form he'd taken, and all the pieces began to fall into place.
"Ah..." Air murmured, falling silent again when a Ghastly shifted into view a few feet away. His expression softened when the ghost flinched away from him, and he shook his head gently. "No, sorry about that, I'm not Cimm," he said with a smile. Another moment later his form began to shimmer and shift as he turned back from his borrowed form to avoid any confusion for his companion. Falling comfortably back into his Ditto shape, the pink Pokemon smiled, his dark eyes bright and well-meaning. "I don't even know who Cimm is actually," he said apologetically, "I passed by an interesting colored Luxio on the stairs back there and thought I'd try his form out for a while. I haven't done an Electric Type in a while, and they have this great tingly feeling about them..." He was rambling, and that was strange; Air supposed it was because the Ghastly had reacted so viscerally to his Luxio form, so he was over-explaining in the form of an apology--if they got off on the wrong foot because of this he'd feel terrible. "I'm, um...I'm Air by the way," the Ditto added as an afterthought, watching the Ghastly to gauge its reaction.

Mana was flooded with relief when the Luxio's form slackened and shifted oddly until the Pokémon took the form of a Ditto. The spirit didn't have to make any knee-jerk decisions after all. Mana was a bit embarrassed at having mistaken the pink Pokémon for Cimm, but it had been very hard to tell the difference. So instead of letting its abashment get the best of its emotions, Mana quietly let the Ditto explain itself, and offered a half smile when it trailed off, offering a name.
”That would have been Cimmerian, my team's captain.” The ghost gently informed Air with a much less fearful tone than it had used before. Mana was inwardly testing the name carefully as it triggered a recent memory. When on 'reconnaissance' during the most recent guild escapade, it had taken note of a Ditto who had been inactive for a large portion of the time they had all been rooting around in the dirt. If memory served, the Pokémon didn't gather much aside from a broken glass box and some other artifact. The ghost hadn't caught the Ditto's name back then, but assumed it to be Air. Not that Mana was going to inform the blob of this fact. It strongly doubted that anyone would be fond of knowing they had been spied on.
"My name is Mana." The Ghastly instead opted to introduce itself. Suddenly the spirit realized that it may have made Air feel awkward. The Pokémon seemed content and happy enough, but the way it was looking at the ghost made Mana doubt its intuition. Not wanting to invade on any privacy the Ditto may have been seeking out, Mana was quick to voice its worry along with a matching expression across its simple features, "If you wanted this spot for yourself, I could go. I don't want to bother you or anything." It was an honest comment, but Mana inwardly worried that if it ventured back into the guild's more common places of travel, Cimm may find it and demand an answer. Still, though, the ghost was more worried about what Air was thinking than its own preferences.

Air "Oh, well, that explains it," Air said with a nervous laugh. If he'd gone off on his own and his Leaders had suddenly appeared out of nowhere then he pretty surprised too, especially if they'd left a few minutes before. He assumed, at least, that this Cimmerian had expressed no intention of returning based on the ghost's reaction, and the stony expression he'd seen on the Luxio's face when the Electric Type had passed by. Maybe the two had gotten into a fight before, that would explain a lot too. Arceus, if that was true then it was no wonder that the ghost had reacted in the way that it had; he'd had no way of knowing that of course, but it made the Ditto feel guilty nonetheless. This was what came from taking on different forms as he pleased, he was well aware of that, but he also couldn't stop it even if he wanted to: there wasn't any way he felt comfortable around other Pokemon unless he could see the world through their eyes. If he could just understand what it felt like to be them, maybe he could understand why they did what they did.
Jolted out of his reverie by the Ghastly's introduction, Air caught himself before making his own introduction a second time, caught off guard when the ghost broke the silence between them again. He watched the specter thoughtfully, trying to give it his complete focus so he wouldn't be surprised again, but Mana's next offer was enough to bewilder him completely. "No no no!" the Ditto said rapidly, waving his gooey arms in protest, "No I should be the one to leave if anyone goes. You were here first, and it's not like I need to be here or anything, I was just looking around." Mana certainly had no reason to feel like it was the one at fault here, and the worried expression on the ghost's face made Air grow even more troubled. "You're not bothering me at all. It's good to meet new people, right?" Oh, but maybe that sounded too pushy. "That is, if I'm bothering you I don't mind going either. I was just looking around the Guild and this is my last stop, so I was going to go back to my Team at some point anyway..."

Mana blinked and relaxed the worry line in its brow. Something within the ghost was a bit stunned as it registered the ramble Air was going on with. The round-about way of speaking things was something Mana was unused to, as it had become accustomed to the blunt manner of speaking that all of its team mates used on a frequent basis. At first, the ghost wondered if it should let Air know that it had indeed wanted to be alone. But then again, Air had looked like it was really enjoying himself when he Mana had noticed it. But... If Air didn't leave, then the Gastly would have to keep talking.
Decisions, decisions.
"No, you're fine. I... I just don't want to make you uncomfortable or anything." Mana slowly commented as it took the least confrontational route with a slight smile that resembled an expression of sympathy, hoping to ease the hurried, concerned tone in the Ditto's voice. The purple spirit examined its surroundings once again, "And I guess it is nice to meet new people." It mentioned as it tried to fill the gap of silence before it may have arrived. Nothing would be more uncomfortable than sitting in silence with a mere stranger. Besides, the sentence wasn't false. Mana had not been introduced to many other Pokémon outside her Team, and spying on them really didn't count. Mana took in the scenery once again, pondering what would be appropriate to say next, "A view like this is nice to share," That was good, right? Normal conversations normally went like this, right? "I like it up here, it's a good place to think."

Air Air blinked in surprise at the change in the Ghastly's expression, his small eyes full of uncertainty. It didn't really sound like the ghost was completely convinced, but then it had smiled, so... "I'm not uncomfortable," the Ditto said honestly, "Only if I'm making you uncomfortable. I'm kind of bad at figuring that sort of thing out." It was because of that he'd ended up at the Guild in the first place, but that was a long story and he'd already talked at Mana enough to make things uncomfortable if they weren't before. He sunk down into more of a puddle than a Pokemon as he listened to the Ghastly's agreement with his comment about meeting others. He offered a half-smile from his flattened position, looking up at the sky and the Ghastly rather than around at anything else, uncertain what to do with his body. He wasn't fond of staying in his Ditto form for terribly long, since it was far more interesting to try different forms, but he had enough respect for Mana not to switch back to Cimm's form, and he didn't want to risk startling his companion by mirroring the Ghost just when it had agreed to talk with him for a while. All of that left him in the uncomfortable limbo state of his actual body, hence why he had flattened himself out, to maintain variety.
Air sprung up again when Mana continued it's train of thought after a moment, turning to face the view it had mentioned with interest. "It really is," the Ditto remarked, looking out past the guard rail with eager eyes. He'd only savored it for a moment before he'd realized Mana was here, and didn't mind getting back to it again. "I think high places are really great thinking places," Air said, deciding to run with the line of conversation, "Also really small places. Where no one can get to you." If he really wanted to do some serious thinking, Air sought out any way that he could get away from the tempting excitement of other Pokemon. They were so distracting with their different colors and habits, that he couldn't help being captivated by them; that's why whenever he needed to really think about something he liked to go flying, or swimming, or change into something very small and slip into the walls. There were a lot of options for a Ditto, but not as many for other Pokemon like Mana. "What do you like to think about?" Air asked, looking over at his companion curiously.

"You don't have to worry about figuring it out. I'm fine. The esper mentioned quietly. Having seemed to successfully eased the Ditto into a comfortable conversation, Mana let its eyes drift back over to the little pink blob who was seeming to have a hard time sitting still. It had to wonder if Air was really as okay as he said he was. It was just a vague feeling, but the apparition couldn't help to think that Air really wasn't completely comfortable at the moment. But who was Mana to question the pink Pokemon? So the spirit let any comments of insisting Air be honest leave its mind as it focused on the words being spoken at present. The normal type's odd comment about liking small places to seek solitude in had the ghost wondering if that was a purely Ditto thing. Mana itself just being alone in general. When around others, the Gastly found it was constantly worried about what scenarios may come up and how it would approach them, how things could end badly or on a good note, how one Pokémon might react to something it may say, when to stay quiet and when to speak... The list of jumbled things that went through Mana's mind when faced with a crowd could go on and on. The ghost considered itself fortunate to have Cimm around for the most part, as he would tell the spirit what to do before it could fall into the swirling vortex of possibilities. Well, usually. Today Cimm had pushed Mana into that whirlpool.
And Air wasn't making things much better. "Uh... What do I like to think about?" Mana tried to keep its voice as casual as possible, but the uncertain crack had made its way into the Gastly's voice unbidden. It had never been asked that question before. If Air had asked what it was thinking, that would be an easy question to answer because that answer would have been a factual one. But what it liked to think about? That included an opinion. "A lot of things, I guess." Mana was relatively quick to add on as to let the conversation flow on. Though it would have preferred to mull over the question and give a proper answer. Instead, the closest thing the ghost could get to a good answer was that, and; "I spend a lot of time thinking about what I don't know."
If Mana had a solid face and hands it would have slapped them together. If that wasn't a vague answer, it didn't know what was. The spirit recovered quickly, gentle expression never faltering despite a brief flash of fret in its eyes, "If that makes any sense to you. Sorry." The apology slipped out at the end before Mana could stop it. Not that it really would have wanted to. In Mana's opinion one could never ask for forgiveness too much, despite what some other members of its team might believe.

Air Air nodded at the question, bobbing his whole body up and down with the motion. There were a lot of things different Pokemon liked to think about, and the Ghastly seemed like a thoughtful creature, so the question made sense in the Ditto's mind. He tilted his head when the crack in Mana's voice registered however, realizing the sound was an uncomfortable one at best, though he hardly knew why it had been made. Mana's continuation of the topic had been too fast also, like it was trying to cover up for something, but Air couldn't begin to fathom what that might be. He saw the brief look of panic that crossed the timid spirit's face as well, taking all of this into account as he tried to consider how to respond to the apology; this Ghastly was clearly troubled by something, but Air wasn't sure how best to respond to that. The Ditto's form quivered as he suppressed the urge to transform once again; he should ask first, but Arceus it was painful trying to find a good way to slip that sort of request into a conversation. The best thing to do would be to start by continuing where Mana had left off, that was the first step.
"Sure, it makes sense," Air said, after he'd managed to sort through all of his own thoughts. "I like to think about what I don't know too, and so do most people I imagine." The Ditto smiled, "I guess I was more wondering if anything really interested you. Like, I don't know a lot of things, but I'm more likely to think about other Pokemon than I am to think about how to make Oran Berry Pie for instance. But I once met a Delibird who loved to cook, and I'd bet that she would really enjoy thinking about different ways to make Oran Berry Pie. It's not something that I'd normally think about, but it's interesting because that's something she'd like to think about." Air laughed a bit. "And there I go again, thinking about other Pokemon, see? Maybe it's just a product of my species, but I really like to think about others who are different than me, and why that is. It's pretty interesting to think about how everyone can be so different and have their own defining qualities, you know? It's kind of my hobby to see what makes everyone unique, and so that when I copy them I can do a good job."
There: that was his opening. Fidgeting slightly, the Ditto looked up at Mana with hopeful eyes. "Um, speaking of which," he added, "Would you mind if I copied you?" It felt strange asking that question--he couldn't remember a time that he'd ever asked permission to copy another Pokemon--but Air couldn't help feeling that it might be important here. He didn't understand Mana enough like this, but he was afraid of startling the ghost by suddenly copying it. The Ditto's position here was a difficult one, since he feared that he was missing something he could never understand without taking Mana's form, but was able to read enough into the conversation to know that things were still a bit dicey between them, and his ghostly companion still wasn't comfortable with him as things stood currently. If only he hadn't copied that Luxio...

Mana listened as the Ditto rambled, nodding when appropriate and listening in slight wonder as the pink Pokémon went on. As the ghost listened, it found itself wondering if it thought about things like that. Mana couldn't say it was particularly fond of thinking about any particular things, but that would probably be due to the fact that the spirit had never really found anything to be fond of during the years of its existence. There were things it fretted and worried about, sure. But to actually sit back and contemplate something it enjoyed wondering about? Mana couldn't say it ever had. It was actually quite admirable to the ghost that Air thought so deeply about the things he spoke of, how delightfully, genuinely inquisitive he seemed. He obviously had a passion for learning about other Pokémon.
An familiar ache at the depths of the soul's soul formed alongside these thoughts. Mana had never had anything such as an aspiration, passion, or even a hobby. If anything, the Ditto reminded Mana of what it knew it was lacking internally. But the ghost wasn't given time to wallow in self pity over these things, for Air suddenly broke in his tempo, becoming antsy and looking up at Mana with a pleading expression. As soon as it voiced it's question, Mana realized why the Ditto had seemed uncomfortable.
"I don't mind, go right on ahead." Mana's tone was light and it offered a nod of approval as it beat itself up inwardly. Of course Air would want to take on a different form. He had just said he loved to try to understand all sorts of Pokémon, and he was a Ditto! Mana should have noticed something like this earlier, and silently scolded itself for being so unobservant. It only added insult to injury when Mana realized that it may have been thrown off by the question if Air hadn't explained itself already. The ghost, like most Pokémon probably, had never been asked to be copied before. Even though the ghost found it a bit odd to have been asked such a thing it would never admit that out loud. Especially not when Air had been uncomfortable all this time, forced out of Cimm's form because of Mana's poor reaction to it. "But I can't say it'll be anything special to copy me." Mana decided to add jokingly to perhaps cover its negative emotions.

Air The change on Air's expression was instant, turning to one of utmost gratitude when Mana gave its permission. "Oh, thank you!" he said, the words entirely heartfelt as his form began to shimmer instantaneously and he started to shift. He'd been in the Gastly's company for a fair amount of time by now, so he'd been able to study even the most minute features that distinguished Mana from others of its species. There was nothing overtly physical, but there were minor things--the way its gases shifted, the way it seemed constantly poised for motion--that would help to make the copy that much more accurate. When Air's transformation was finally complete, the Ditto-Gastly beamed back at his original, glowing with delight as he floated upward to match Mana's height. This was right: now he was truly in his element.
"What do you mean it's not anything special?" Air asked, eyes wide with surprise as he felt the increase in sensation brought on by his newly gaseous form. Like this he could feel the subtle changes in the wind and temperature like they were a part of his own body, and when he tried he found that he could shape the gas into different forms. He promptly shifted the gases forward into a little cloud that resembled one of his Ditto hands and waved it at Mana in a friendly manner. "Your form is so malleable, and so sensitive," he said cheerfully, "I can do a lot of things with the way I look, but you can too and you're not even a Ditto. See?" Concentrating, Air focused on the dark ball in the middle of the Gastly's form and shifted it around with the help of the gases into the first thing that came to mind. The result was a black-colored Wingull surrounded by the purple Gastly haze, but a moment later Air let the form go and it spiraled back into the usual black orb of a face that the species possessed. "That's...surprisingly hard though," the Ditto said, "At least, I had to focus a lot. You'd probably find it easier since it's your normal state."
Air was much more at ease now that he wasn't trapped in his own body, a fact that was clear in just about everything he did. The smile never left his face and the tenor in his voice had the same sort of wonder in it that it held when he was discussing his passion beforehand. It really was a wonderful thing, just being able to live as another Pokemon. With a contented sigh, Air settled back into his gases happily, looking at Mana with a new sort of appreciation reserved for those who he'd copied for the first time. "Really, thank you," he said, speaking with straight-forward honesty,"It's hard for me to feel comfortable when I can't be myself, but I didn't want to startle you after our Cimm mix-up from before." The thing that was impossible for Air to explain was that he only really felt like himself when he was being someone else; hopefully Mana would be able to understand it enough though--he was feeling more optimistic each moment that this meeting could end on a much higher note than the one on which it began.

Mana shouldn't have been caught off guard when Air transformed. Yet the odd sensation of meeting the Ditto's new form gave it the same sensation it usually got when meeting other ghosts, yet with an odd quirk that came from it's true self. Air had become a ghost, without actually going through death to reach that state. The thought alongside the abnormal sensation was enough to make Mana draw its spiritual awareness away from Air as subtly as it could. Sensing another spirit was something Mana had become accustomed to, as most ghosts probably, and this was just one apparition that it didn't feel like investigating. It was a good thing Air had been looking at the Gastly so gratefully, or Mana may have trailed off into another fit of apologies for acting so rudely. It was a relief to know Air's ghostly abilities weren't strong enough in his current form to feel when Mana had pulled away. At least, Mana hoped he hadn't noticed.
"I suppose it is rather handy." Mana shifted its attention back to Air, watching in amusement as the creature waved at it. The true ghost did its own version of the same thing, drawing its outer gases away from its nucleus and waving back with a whispy appendage. Mana continued to observe as Air shifted into a Wingull like silhouette, and it nodded thoughtfuly. "If we were in a place that wasn't so breezy, I'm sure you'd be able to hold it for longer. It's hard to keep any form when the wind is blowing." The purple ghost encouraged, not wanting Air to feel as if he had failed or messed up.
The ditto did look much happier in a shape shifted form and even his tone of voice seemed more casual and upbeat. Still, it surprised Mana a bit when he looked at it with even more gratitude than before. "D-Don't worry about it! I'm just glad you feel better now." Mana honestly put in after Air spoke. "I mean, you did say that was what you're interested in, so I'm glad to be of any help I can be." A smile was flashed sheepishly towards the Ditto-Gastly. Honestly, Mana wasn't used to such warmth and thankfulness. They were qualities that were certainly missing from its own Team. Mana eyed the Ditto and regarded it carefully. Though it looked as if it were looking into a mirror image of itself, Mana wondered if it had ever made the utterly happy expressions Air wore now. Probably not. "Your mimicry is very accurate, isn't it? I don't often look at myself in a mirror, but I'm pretty sure you perfectly reflected me. I suppose that is a useful tool for your Team, no?" Now the ghost was curious about Air, since they really hadn't properly been introduced. The Gastly had to wonder just what sort of Pokémon were lucky enough to have formed a Team with the awfully considerate little Ditto since it hadn't seen Air with anyone at the gathering Mana had been spying over. It was almost certain now that this was indeed the Ditto Mana had watched during the excavation. The similarities in demeanor were all too obvious now.
