Makani couldn't help but to chuckle, finding Oggie to be quite cute as he called Makani 'too smart' and Myrsky to be too 'simple minded'. He wasn't sure if that was it, he hadn't spent enough time from them after all. If the guy ever came back he might make another attempt at chatting with him but he kind of doubted he'd come back. From what he gathered he wasn't really a social sort so why would he come back to a place like this?
Giving a little smile when he felt Oggie relaxing Makani set to busying his hands by putting little braids in his friend's hair. At the question he asked the blind magic user couldn't help but to laugh, "Actually something a bit easier, Oggie. I should be getting to work gathering and purifying water for the group. I can do it on my own but a bit of help with knowing exactly how far along I am with the filling of the barrels would help a bit. Better then having to pause and check, it sort of gets me out of the flow of things."
"So long as you don't mind keeping tabs for me we should be able to get the barrels filled pretty quickly." He said as he pushed up to his feet before offering his hands to his friend, "Shall we?"

Oggie couldn't help but let out a soft purr as his hair was braided. He loved being tended to like this, he didn't care if he looked silly. They were braids from his best friend, a gift in a way. If his rat-nest of a hairstyle looked worth styling, he felt honored, and incredibly comfortable. He kind of wanted to simmer there a minute, his mind turning to a familiar feeling from when he was in Neued with Nua. However, the memory of he and Nua separating outweighed the warmth of the memory before it, causing him to inch into a more upright position.
"Filling barrels?" He asked, taking Maka's hands as they were offered. "I didn't know you could purify water without using something like a net, though. How do you do it? With magic?"
He moved to stand beside Makani and reached out for his sleeve. It wasn't because he was concerned about guiding Maka, but more so because he wanted to stay close to his friend. That, and, Makani's sleeve was made of pretty fabric, and he wanted to see if it was as soft as it looked.
"Sure! Uh... Where are the barrels?" He said, looking about.

Makani felt the manner in which Oggie suddenly sat upright, a look of momentary worry showing on his face. He seemed to come out from whatever cloud he'd been caught under though so Makani didn't ask. If he wanted to talk then Makani would be here for him he thought to himself as he helped Oggie up to his feet. Giving a nod of his head he said, "Yeah, I do my best to keep at least two of them filled at all times since we have a lot of people here working. The more work they do the more water they need. It's a task that is easy enough for me to fulfill and I want to help somehow."
"I use a few spells conjunction with one another to purify the water and take anything dangerous out. That way it can be consumed safely as well as used by other healers when they do healing that doesn't involve magic such as stitches or aiding in child birth. Not that we have the latter thing happen all that often here. I think the only times that happened were passersby that needed a place to stay." He mused about the last bit before shaking his head, "Anyway, water."
Giving a smile he said, "The barrels aren't too far from here if you want to help me get them?" He lifted his hand, resting it on that of Oggie, finding it cute that he was going to guide him along. He patted Oggie's hand before starting toward where the barrels were waiting for them. Reaching his free hand out he patted one of them, "I can get this one if you want to get the other." He said before he set to casting a spell that caused the ground under 'his' barrel to lift up a bit before it started to move toward the river the two of them had been sitting alongside.

Oooh, so that's why Rastian used so much water when he healed someone! Oggie gave a nod of understanding and smiled as he followed Makani toward the barrels, only to pause when a barrel began to levitate off the ground. Magic was incredible, wasn't it? It could do anything! Lift barrels, heal the sick, was there anything it couldn't do? He lifted a hand to his chest and placed it on his heart to think a moment, before leaping forward to grab the second barrel.
"I've got it! You go on ahead!" He said, raising the barrel over his head as he walked. "I can't wait to see how you purify water! It has to look as interesting as it feels, right?"

Makani walked with his barrel to the river, getting as close as he could without risking the barrel falling in since he didn't want to risk losing such a useful object. Once it was placed he drew in a deep breath, let it out slowly, before he lifted his hands up. Magical energy gathered in his hands before he set to casting some spells, the first one being a spell to draw the water forth from the flowing river, raising it up into a flowing ring. The next spell that he cast next was a fire spell, summoning a ring of fire.
"Alright, once I get these two spells going I allow the water flow around the ring of fire, heating the water up to the point that it starts to boil." He explained to Oggie as he went about manipulating the two elements, "Once it's been boiling for a time what isn't turned to steal is sent to the barrels, slowly filling them up. Once I've filled the barrels I will use another spell the cool the water again to a temperature where it will be drinkable." The flow of hot, bubbling water moved away from the ring of fire, into the barrel, and new water from the river joined the fiery circle.
Giving a smile he said to Oggie, "It can take a bit of time to fill the barrels, I apologize for that. It will give us more time to chat though while we get the water prepared for drinking." He gave a soft laugh before adding, "This used to take a lot longer when I was younger and my magic weaker. The more I practice the better and quicker I will get at this particular task, though I also plan to teach others in the group how to do it as well so that they can aid in the process or even take shifts at it. The more water we have on hand the better, especially as the weather heats up."

Oggie set the second barrel down next to the one Makani had moved and, well, couldn't move for the next few minutes. His eyes stayed glued to what Makani was doing as if it were the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. It was like the water from the river came alive as Makani moved it up and through the fire with the it moved and bubbled. He knew it couldn't actually be alive, but to Ogbonna, it was like watching Bergchi create a new life form. He stayed mesmerized as Makani spoke and breathed in deeply. How could someone learn how to do this? What did they channel? It was so beautiful.
"Makani... This is incredible." He muttered, moving to view the water and fire more closely. "I don't know how else to put this, but... I feel like I'm watching Bergchi make life. The way the water moves so effortlessly with you... It's amazing."
He blushed in spite of himself and placed his hands on the empty barrel, before looking into the barrel that Makani was filling. It looked like it had a ways to go, which was fine with him. He didn't have anywhere to go, and he could always travel home himself later if need be. He wanted to spend more time with Makani and watch him do magic. Maybe he could learn to understand it, in a way. After all, he was a Guard, and had never done magic. He pursed his lips, thinking hard on his next words, and smiled.
"Can you explain to me what it feels like to you?" He asked, placing his hand gently on Makani's shoulder. "Like... Does magic have a sensation? Does it feel cold or hot? Do you feel it moving through you like a chill or something? I'm just so curious."

The compliment on the spells he was using, even comparing it to some miracle performed by Bergchi, nearly had Makani dropping the water that he was manipulating. He was able to regain control over is awry spells before they did much more then fall a short distance. Once he got the water purification back under control he said, "I... thank you, Oggie, that is very kind of you to say." His cheeks were a bit hot from the compliments given, but at the same time he couldn't help but to appreciate the kind words. It was nice to know that his magic could be so impressive to look at. He'd always seen it as useful on various levels but to know it looked good too, that was a definite bonus as well.
"Hm? Oh, I could explain, I think." He said, having to consider his words for a moment, "For the most part I can feel a sort of flow around me when using my magic. Some spells there is a little more, like a crackling sensation that goes along with lightening spells, a warmer feeling with the fire spells, or a nice cooling sensation with the water or ice spells. Each spell has a different feel to it but the very basic sensation of my magic is a flowing feeling."
He made a few more motions with hands drawing more water from the river to flow with the fire, "The magic that I use the most, the sort that I use to 'see' with, has more of an ebb and flow sensation, one that swirls around me, and allows me to sense what is around me. I can show you that if you'd like? Once we are done with the water at least."

Ogbonna listened dutifully. So, magic had a sensation, a sort of feeling to it. Like emotions, or the heat of a campfire. He smiled warmly at the thought. In a way, he'd already felt what magic felt like by being near things like fire or water, which brought him closer to understanding what Makani was saying. However, when Makani spoke about being able to see using magic, his mouth gaped open wide. He could sense things around him using magic as a way of seeing? Did that mean that Makani had, in a way, seen him? He stood, stilled by this realization, and moved closer.
"I... I didn't know you could do that, Maka." He said, reaching out to the spells Makani was casting. "You can use magic to sense your surroundings..."
His eyes fell to Makani's hands and up to the fire and water again, before moving to look at Makani's face. He'd never seen what Makani's eyes looked like, had he? Were they colored? White? Yellow? His lips pursed again.
"Does that mean you've... 'Seen' me?" He asked, giving his head a tilt. "I mean, in a sensory sort of way. Do I make a specific feeling?"

Makani gave a smile, "It's something I started to notice I could do when I was younger, something that has developed and has gotten stronger over time. It's useful, allows me to see in my own way, but it's also a bit of a give away to where I am. Anyone who has magic would be able to sense me from a distance. So long as they don't perceive me as a threat though I should be fine." Things were calm at the moment so he really had no reason to get into any sort of tussles with people using his magic. It was one of the reasons he was so glad that the war was over, it allowed him to just rest up, relax, and recover what from all of what he'd been through.
"Hmm, in a manner of speaking? What I did earlier, inspecting your face with my finger tips, it's what allows me to really see what you look like. My magic gives me a general size and location of things, but what I see the most are the energy patterns of people. Everyone has their own pattern so I am able to find those I am looking for by sensing them. It helps out a lot when I am trying to find someone in the crowd."

Ogbonna stood back a moment and allowed Makani's words to wash over him. So, Makani always had this ability, but it needed training to grow stronger. It was just like how he needed to train the muscles in his arms and chest. Magic didn't seem like such a foreign concept now that Maka had explained this. Magic and weapons had their differences, but they still had their similarities. The world was, once again, a smaller place.
"Everyone has a pattern..." He echoed, his lips wiggling as the words came out. "What kind of pattern do I have? I... Hope it's a nice pattern!"

He gave a smile and a nod of his head, "Yes, everyone has a different look to them, a different personality, and that leads to them having a different pattern to the energy that I can 'see' and feel around them." He explained, hoping that it might make some sort of sense to Oggie. Makani's method of seeing was one that he knew might seem odd to others, those that didn't use magic in the same way as he did. "Your's is a nice one, something warm and friendly, the sort of energy that tells a person that you're an approachable sort. It has a glow to it that I like, as though it could light up even the darkest of places and times." He said as he read the aura around his friend while he went about the chore of gathering water, "Strong and determined, though I can sense your exhaustion in your energy as well. It will perk up with time and rest though, well time with friends and loved ones." At least that was what he felt, he hoped he was right about that because he wanted all of his friends to be at their happiest.

Ogbonna smiled and found himself relaxing. His energy was warm and friendly, what a relief! Makani saw him as a positive person, strong and determined, but tired. He was absolutely right, of course, he was tired from the war and from travelling. The prescription for the tiredness cure was easy enough, too. Sleep and spend time with people he liked, that he could accomplish easily!
"... Have you ever wondered what you look like, Maka?" He asked, tapping against the barrels thoughtfully. "I don't know if I can describe you the way you see me, but... I think..."
He paused, raising a hand to tap his chin while he looked Makani over.
"... I think you're like the sun on a cool day, or like a drink of water after a hard days work!" He said, laughing. "Refreshing, warm, and welcoming! ... But you're also handsome, like the face of a sculpture that a master craftsman makes. I hope that makes sense?"

"What I look like? It's something I am a little curious if only because I used to be hassled when I was little, for something I didn't understand at the time. I guess my coloration is a bit odd? Or so I am told." Something said with a bit of a smile, "What I look like to you? Now that I am truly curious about. How do I look to you, Oggie?" He asked in a curious manner.
A soft smile appeared on Makani's lips as his friend described what Makani appeared like to him, using terms that Makani could understand. So he was someone who was 'refreshing, warm, and welcoming' which was a description that he felt he liked the sound of." He liked the idea of being someone who had such nice words attributed to him, especially since he worked as a healer. Better to be seen as welcoming then scary he thought to himself. What came next was something that caused him to give a bit of a chuckle, "Handsome? Thank you, Oggie, that is nice of you to say." Not what he'd expected, not thinking of himself as a handsome sort, but that was mostly because his ideas of beauty were different then that of other people.
"You're very kind, Oggie." He said as he made a few more motions with his hands gathering more magical power, and got the purifying of the water under way once more. It didn't take too long before the first of the barrels started to get closer to being filled up.

Ogbonna continued to tap his fingers along the barrel as it filled up, and kept his gaze on Makani. He felt as though he wanted to repeat the handsome compliment and add more detail, but couldn't find the words to say it with. The Guard sighed, out of frustration with himself, and smiled. No, he couldn't say those things now. He didn't want to be weird. Maka was his friend and he didn't want to scare him away.
"Thank you, Maka." He said, chuckling. "I try my best, I guess."
He make a popping sound with his tongue as he finished his sentence and looked into the barrel.
"Oh! This one's almost full, it could still use a bit more, but no more than... Three more rounds of water?" He suggested, cocking his brow at the barrel.

Makani gave his friend a smile, then nodded, "Three more rounds then." He murmured, counting them out out loud as he went about the three rounds that Oggie said were left between where the water was and a full barrel. Once the rounds had passed he made a few motions with his hands, moving the water just enough so that it was falling into the next barrel, "One last barrel to go and then we can bring them back to the camp. After that, provided there aren't any other chores waiting for me, we should be able to sit down, relax, and chat more if you'd like?" He'd also offered to show him a bit of his magic and how he saw the world, provided of course that his friend was still interested.
"I have to thank you again for helping me out, Oggie, it really does make this sort of task a whole lot easier when I have a friend to chat with while I got about my work. Sometimes I can get others from the troupe to come along, even my sister at times, but everyone was busy today. It was lucky that you came along to visit." He could only hope he wasn't taking advantage of his friend's presence by putting him to work. Since he hadn't complained at all about it though he'd guess that he wasn't too bothered by what he was helping out with. This particular chore wasn't for everyone but Oggie seemed to be doing fairly well at it, something that put Makani at ease.
Makani set to humming to himself as the spell casting continued, with the second barrel filling up steadily, just as the first one had. It shouldn't take too much longer before the two of them were able to get to work bringing the barrels back to where they would be of use to everyone in the troupe.
