Maihue had never tried skating before, and decided that since so many different things were going on, she'd try a majority of them. What was the harm?

She ended up hanging to the edge of the rink for a little while before trying to actually skate out into the open, it was way more difficult than she had originally thought. After getting a little bit used to the skates, Maihue only managed to get up to 3 rounds before failing. She hadn't gotten very far, but it was a fun activity, she'd probably be back again. There was always another chance another day.

This night was going better than Rasali could have anticipated. That was really saying something considering how great Bloodfest was every sweep. There were a number of promising trolls in the rink. Even those that weren’t… skilled, exactly more than made up for it with spirit. The kids in particular were adorable, if not terribly well-suited to close-combat on wheels.

Rasali felt the thought wisp away as a black and yellow blur shot past her, straight through one of the barricades. Her skates slowly rolled to a stop as she looked on. That couldn’t have been…

Voscil emerged from the carnage all smiles and moonshine, which both relieved and further bewildered Rasali. Before she could properly ask “Did you REALLY just rocket through a fence on roller skates,” Voscil was off like a literal shot.

Rasali dumbly watched the afterimage go.

She hoped to god that kid signed her interest sheet.

On her break, Odette was quickly drawn to the bright, lively roller-derby booth. As she waited for her skates, she bounced to the beat, excited to get her first taste of roller skating. She was worried she wouldn't be very good, but in the very least, she knew she was going to make it fun. For good luck, she picked up a glow bracelet and snapped it around her wrist. Yeah, she thought, this was going to be fun! Well, as long as she didn't knock into any kids. That didn't seem fair. Or fun at all. She laced up her skates, tense again with worry.

Her fears were only fed more as she stepped onto the scene. There were a lot of people here. A lot of people moving very fast. And hitting things. And falling. That little yellowblood over there— she just crashed into the wall! Odette's eyes darted around nervously, hands covering her beating blood-pusher. Waiting in the entrance, a particularly impatient troll gave Odette a quick push. She squeaked, stumbling over herself. This wasn't good— no, now she was stuck... Oh no...

She somehow managed to stay in the game for 3 rounds, artfully dodging the trolls that were speeding past her. If she pretended like it was dancing, things became a bit easier, and a bit more fun, too! Well, people weren't usually out to knock you down in ballet. It wasn't really that much like dancing at all, was it? Still, the thought helped.

Eostre goes back to the rink for round two, and finds its a much easier ride this time. She easily got into the groove, and made it pretty far in the game before choosing the wrong corner. She liked the gliding motion of skating around the rink, and the potential danger behind it all. She thought about how her lusus would be furious if she told him she wanted to do roller derby, grumping that it was another girly sport. Too bad she didn't care.

Was the concept of skating really that foreign to trolls? Aandes watched glumly as trolls tried their hand at the game. If anything, it was a perfect way to see how trolls handled conflict - how well they kept poise, grace, beauty, all of that bullshit. Aandes leaned on the booth corner, observing quietly.

Well, there went a wall. Aandes sighed. Psionics. Rasali would be after that one like a rocket. He removed himself form the booth momentarily to put his hand gently on her shoulder, sliding around her until they were face to face. "Darling, you should go get them! Being passive like this isn't you at all... Where's the shouting and promoting?"

His implications were clear: she was being very Aandes about all of this. With a catlike grin, he took off on a lazy loop around the rink, looking for suitable targets up close. He greeted familiar trolls with a soft smile, fondly regarding their diverse skillset. Finally, a skittish redblood came into view.

Petite, graceful, nervous like a little bird. Adorable. She was quite the beauty to boot, and Aandes weighed her against every other small, feminine troll who'd wandered into the booth. She was the most sturdy yet equally pitiful specimen, was old enough to garner an audience... And those legs. Rasali would want those legs.

Aandes pushed off to follow behind her, careful to shark her but not to attract attention to himself. She managed to stay in for a while, and held herself with dancer's poise. With her bun and her get-up, and the elegant symbol she bore, she looked the part. Trolls were so easy to read. Aandes put his hands in his pockets and reversed his direction. He skated backwards to meet her on the outside of the rink, coming up on her slowly. He mustn't seem like a predator; she wasn't his prey, after all. If he came off too strong he'd frighten her away, but not strong enough and she wouldn't take any offers seriously. She was a redblood, after all, and even as a midblood he was a threat. Careful, Aandes.

He was a fair distance away in front of her when he pretended to see her, and gave her a friendly smile. "Are you having fun? You seem to be a natural at this, miss...?"

Now here was something interesting! Etsali couldn't believe she'd missed this booth the day before, when there were all these colors and music and skates. She'd never tried skates before but it looked likeso much fun. Pushing through the crowd to approach the booth, because really there'd been no question that she would, she asked for a pair of skates. There were even free glow sticks! She snapped a few around her wrist with glee, holding it up to admire the faint light.

And then it was time to see what she could do! She laced up her skates tightly, pulled herself up, and after a moment to figure out how her balance worked in these things, rolled out to play. Two rounds later she was already out, but they'd been a fun two rounds! She'd definitely be back to try this again!

"Hello again," Alifax told the troll at the skate rental. It was nice to be alone, in a setting where he didn't have to talk to people. He pulled his skates on and laced them up. Apparently this group was recruiting for something but he had no idea what it was supposed to be - some nebulous team, apparently?

He didn't care much about it; he just wanted time to himself. He didn't even mind when he was rolled out of the rink early, at least compared to the previous night (where he'd somehow won a ticket or something). Whatever, he figured. It wasn't like this was something important, like FLARPing. It didn't test any skill; only the ability to listen to the music being blasted through the speakers for stops. It was just a way to pass the time. A way that would, like many others, quickly become unaffordable once they were out of the publicity-heavy atmosphere of Bloodfest. If anything it would encourage him to try things, maybe? But as he was quickly learning, there wasn't a lot that interested him.

He was also quickly learning that a lot of the trolls in this place were clumsy, though. He eyed them with a dead suspicion from his brief stint in the spectators' area, and waved to a vaguely familiar greenblood on his way to return his skates.

And back she was again, grabbing a pair and tugging the skates on with eager anticipation. The neon lights made everything better! The skating, the icy, the flashing... Forera couldn't belieeeve it, it was almost like a dreaaaam! Again, she jumped into the game, only to loose on the first round. Drat! Oh well, she'd try again another day!

Reemus awkwardly wobbled onto the floor in what was probably the first time he wore shoes in a looooong time. Sure, they had wheels on them, but his feet were covered by something thicker than bandages.
He still didn't have socks on, though.

Reemus fanned his arms out, wrists bedecked to the nines with glowing bracelets. Heck, he had even figured out how to combine some and make a necklace! It was ace.

One, two, one, two, he started getting into the rhythm of skating. Yeah. Okay. This wasn't too bad! He one-two'd around a bit, but stopping was harder than starting! Wheeling into a corner, Reemus almost crashed into another patron, and definitely hit the wall. "Oof! 'M okay!" he called out to his lusus, who he had pointedly kept on the sidelines. Reemus wanted her to have fun, too, but she was too big and might get her feet rolled over! Ow!

He tried not to hit anyone during or after the second round...though he didn't make it after that. "Awwww..." Just when he was getting the hang of it, too! Oh well. There was always next time!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. This was a funny girl. Aerona laughed at her description, thinking it positively hilarious. It could have been like hydroplaning - it was definitely like slipping on ice though, over and over again. She thought about Busthind and the permanent icy patches that made everything treacherous no matter what time of year. When the sun was so harsh and the altitude so high, ice reigned among all else. No wonder she was getting used to the skates quickly.

Aerona's mouth curled into a smile. "Three! Three rounds. Wanna have a go with me? Promise I won't push you down," she joked. This would be super fun. Aerona didn't think about anything but rushing around the rink bashing into others when she grabbed Lutrin's hand. "Come on!"

She pulled her immediately towards the rink. The contemporary pop music loud in her spongeclots, she turned towards Lutrin before nearly falling down and smiled. She finally let go of Lutrin's wrist, finding it hard to be weighed down when she could go farther -- faster! Aerona scooted around the rink to the music, and eventually managed to predict when it was going to stop. She almost got sick with laughter, and had to tap out at six rounds. This was too much fun. Sophitia rejoined her charge on the side of the rink.

"Uughhh, mom I'm gonna huuuuurl," she exclaimed. She took a sharp turn out of the designated skating area and let a deep breath go as she flopped onto the pavement. She looked back towards the other skaters to see how Lutrin had fared, biting her lip.

      ツ Lutrin Weesil

Lutrin puffed up her cheeks, in mock indignance. Well, mostly mock. “If you do, I'll push right back!!”

Grinning Aerona merely grabbed by Lutrin the hand and yanked her inside the skating rink. The orangeblood yelped and wobbled. A moment later however, she found her balance. It was just running. On water. She could do this.

Rather than watch how the other skaters managed, Lutrin focussed on where Aerona was leading her, traffic patterns, and the movement of her own feet. It was tricky at first, but she figured out that gained momentum by sliding her feet diagonally, rather than straight back. There was a rocking motion to it almost. She allowed her arms to naturally continue that rocking motion, until it carried through her whole body. Her head bobbed back and forth in time with the music.

On corners it was just a matter of pulling her weight off of one foot. At first she went slow on them, not wanting to collide with the wall or worse another person, but she soon found that if she crouched low and sort of crossed her feet she could speed around them no problem. It was liberating to whip around so fast. She could feel Sugardad's tiny claws digging into the crook of her her neck, as his hat flew out behind him.

Eventually, Aerona let go of her hand and pulled ahead. Her braids trailed out behind her. Lutrin pressed the sides of her skates into the floor to keep up. A moment later she was back at the redblood's side. “Not trying to lose me, are you?” she panted, face flushed as she flashed the other a grin. The music stopped, and the two drifted into a wall. A big, foam die was rolled in the middle of a rink and then a number was called. It wasn't theirs.

The music picked up again, and they were off like rockets. Occasionally, Lutrin could feel when she took a misstep but they happened with less and less frequency. She watched with envy as another skater rolled backwards around the rink and another went on one foot. Some day, she was going to have to try that, but for now she had a partner to keep up with. The redblood moved like fire.

The music stopped and started several more times and on the fifth time it stopped, Lutrin's corner was called. Aerona, who had drifted into the next corner was safe. Skating out of the rink, the orangeblood leaned on the rail as she watched the following round. It was not long before Aerona came skating out, laughing so hard Lutrin was worried she was going to fall over. In fact, she did fall over.

Lutrin crouched down beside the redblood, balancing easily on her wheels. “You must have missed me!!” she exclaimed, beaming. “That was amazing though. You were amazing!! Hang on and I'll go get us something to drink.” Before, the other could so much as protest, Lutrin was rolling over towards the slush drink machines.

Skate, skate, skate... It was a puppy on wheels coming through! Reemus's form was still off, and more often than not he had to correct his balance, but he was doing better. Definitely making an effort to not smash into anything. His attempt to get more experience was cut short, however, as he lasted only one round this time. At least it was luck working against him, not skill.

Checking out a pair of skates, Regina was more focused on reaching maximum speed rather than playing the game, and didn't last for long. Retrieving her sunhat from the center of the ring where it had fallen and caused a troll pile-up, she handed the skates back at the front, eyes sparkling. So far, nothing on land had competed with the speeds she could reach underwater, but this was more like it. As she tottered away, visions of roller-rinks being installed in her palace cluttered up her head.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. She had heard about this place from Alifax. Really, all Frossa needed to know as the lowblood vaguely explained the workings of roller derby to her was smashing trolls. Sounded like a good time to her! The grinning little highblood bounded up to the roller derby booth, claiming a handful of purple glow sticks for her own as she waited for her skates. She flashed the troll working behind the counter a sharp smile of gratitude before skipping off to replace her own boots, eager to get on the rink and start wrecking mayhem.

Smashing trolls sure sounded fun, but for essentially what was the first time Frossa found herself cursing her deaged state. (Not that she had been of any particularly impressive size before...) As she wobbled around on her skates uneasily- controlling the wheels had proven a lot harder than she imagined- she helplessly bounced off the whizzing forms of larger trolls, spinning around haphazardly as she tried to redirect her momentum.

And failed miserably. Frossa's small form made contact with an outer wall of the rink, and with a pained 'oof' and a hard thud she fell backwards onto her a**. Flustering purple, she jumped to her feet as quickly as possible, wheels scrabbling on the smoothed rink as she darted to retreat for the day, glancing around to see if anyone had spotted her wipe out.
