She seemed interested, open and that, at least, was heartening, Horace supposed. He blinked - who would've know he'd get into some heated discussion about a shitty book? If someone had said 'hey, in four months you'll fight monsters, have fallen in love, and be discussing 50 Shades of Grey with a goth chick' he would have laughed them out of the room. It was all parts ridiculous. If only he felt like laughing.

"He was certainly portrayed as smart in everything." Horace took a deep breath. His head was beginning to hurt. "If he'd even tried to understand... Ok, so if he didn't know, or couldn't experience anything - which I think most people would realize something was up - but if he didn't, he shouldn't have done things to Ana without thinking about what would happen afterwards. One incident doesn't make him a bad person; it's just that along with everything else he does. He can't keep treating people like s**t and calling it love." It was control, Horace thought,. and that wasn't bad either. But theirs was a type of relationship that wasn't beautiful, wasn't healthy, wasn't anything but someone acquiring a girl like he would a new car.

Horace just kind of stared at Chantelle. In a way, this conversation was refreshing or at least distracting. "Professional relationships are different from personal ones, though. As much as I dislike Taym, for example, I'd never leave him to die or withhold important mission information. Professional and personal are very different. Even if she was angry and complaining, he never thought to ask why. The greater fault lies with him. Though we might have to just... agree to disagree on this." He paused for a second. They'd been arguing, rehashing the same points that it was enough to make his head feel muddy. He wasn't even sure if he was making coherent points anymore, though he hoped Chantelle at least got a sense of his earnesty.

"Do you really think she was wrong to leave him if he didn't want to care?" He sighed and finally took his hand from hers, pushing dark hair back from his forehead. "You'll probably be happier, Chantelle, if you don't try to force fictional character expectations on real people."
