Sherry would have liked constant updates from the Death hunters- Updates would have meant time to talk. She had to be content with the fact that they had both been alright a few moments before, and she was pleased to see they were both still alright when she raced over the rise.
Horseman. Hopefully not too many. Sherry liked to be hopeful.
Armagnac rumbled happily in her head as she was summoned. This was the kind of fight she liked. Brutal and quick, none silly posturing people liked to do. She was pleased that her hunter wasted no time jumping into things.
Sherry swung her glaive at the Horseman as soon as she was close enough.
First mission or not, Jake couldn't help but whistle as Lukas let out a nice clean hit. That was some aim. And it seemed Sherry was here now also. He summoned his weapons as well and dashed forward to strike at the horseman before pulling back. "Sherry, where were you?"
Of course, now Lukas only had one blade in hand, the other sitting at the horseman's feet -- and he swung in closer than he should have, probably, to grab it. Distracted as he was, it meant that he only got a glancing blow in before he was walloped back behind her, stumbling back up to his feet and blinking widely at Jake and Sherry.
He wasn't sure if this was normal, exactly, but it seemed to him they weren't doing too badly.
"Who cares, she made it now." He offered, breathlessly.
She had been in an ungrounded temple full of nasty vines and probably horsemen. But Lukas was right- it didn't matter right at that moment. There would be time to related her story later. First they had to deal with the enemy.
Besides, she didn't know if she wanted to go spouting on about finding that cavern with a horseman right there attacking them. It was not information the enemy needed to know.
"Later," she said, stepping to the side and bringing the blade of her weapon down towards the enemy. "Just glad you're both o--" She'd hoped to capitalize on the distraction Lukas had offered, but her target simply sidestepped the blow, retaliating with a kick to the knee. The Life hunter stumbled.
Ah, right, he supposed they did have slightly more pressing matters at hand, and Sherry was fine... for no- He saw her stumble out of the corner of his eye, and instinct kicked in as he lashed out at the horseman. "How DARE you-" His agitation caused him to lose focus, allowing him to barely nick them as they retaliated.

For his part, now, Lukas had ended up on the other side of the horseman -- which was both a good thing and a bad one. For the good, it meant that he was able to strike out at its back, flicker-attacks.
For the bad, it meant he was relatively defenseless, and when she turned to attack him, it was only too easy to knock him back, like an insect. His blows were only glancing.
"Focus!" Sherry said, repeating her weapon's suggestion. They had this. The three of them could handle a single horseman, even if she was knocking them around a bit.
She saw the opening, and sank her blade into it, Armagnac rumbling with glee at the hit. But it was too close, within reach of the enemy, and another blow sent Sherry stumbling again.
It was almost embarrassing at how much they were fumbling around. Sherry was right. He had to focus. Jake hadn't even noticed Lukas was on the other side of the horseman now, though he supposed this would help make things a bit faster, if they had them surrounded.
He swung his blade, hoping it wouldn't miss its mark. While it connected, the horseman lashed out equally as strong, and Jake grit his teeth as he pulled back. Just a bit more...

Jake thought they were fumbling -- Lukas was, actually, pretty impressed. This was his first real fight since he'd been handed his weapon, and he could feel the strength of his own shield around him. He could feel the lagging in the horseman's steps, the way she swayed as she smacked him away and he struck back, twice, in rapid succession.
He thought they were doing pretty damned well really.

Sherry never expected to walk away from a horseman fight unscathed, but as she noted signs that the horseman was slowing down she reasoned that she'd had far worse battles. The three of them totally had this, she was now completely certain.
Not that the enemy hadn't gotten in a few good hits. Nothing that couldn't be countered, though. Which she did.
She also looked at each of the other hunters. As long as no one was too badly injured, she'd be happy.
Well, he supposed compared to some of their earlier missions they were doing... somewhat decently. Jake just tended to have high standards and... really pessimistic views. At least THIS time no was bloody and battered... yet...
Right, they had this. No sweat. The horseman might have lashed out at him, but he lashed back. This thing was going DOWN.
It was sheer luck, of course, that when Lukas swung in this time, he hit hard enough across the back of the horseman's knees that she teetered in place, wobbled, and then keeled over.
Down for the count, but still there, it seemed. He blinked once, twice, and then looked up at the other Hunters in a questioning sort of way, his defense fading out to something more distracted, instead.
Was this it, his expression asked, but he didn't voice the question.

Sherry blinked as their foe wobbled, unsure for a moment. Was it a feint? Was it over?
She looked at the horseman on the ground, then to Lukas, then to Jake, back to the horseman. "Nice hit," she said, grinning at Lucas.
She poked at the downed form with her glaive, just checking it to make sure it wasn't playing. "Looks like we have ourselves a horseman." It almost sounded like a question.
"You guys both okay?" She was pretty solid herself, feeling good mostly. She was pretty sure most of her hurts were from that tumble down the stairs earlier.

Jake had half-expected the horseman to dissipate or flee, and even he seemed kind of confused as to why it was just... lying there. Jake walked over and nudged the horseman with his foot to make sure they weren't faking it. "I guess we do..." he mumbled, scratching his head. "Nice work." Did any of them even have rope? Were they supposed to haul it back like this? Like hell I am.
Still, he supposed they probably shouldn't just leave it here like this. The life labs would definitely have a field day with this. "Well, I guess we can drag this sucker back. We might get a bonus for this. Who knows." He looked up at Sherry, then to Lukas. "I think we're in ok shape... for now. You guys wanna head back or keep going?"
