Jasmine flustered at the compliment, but nodded.
While she didn't like hurting the poor birds, it was probably best if they managed to take down the target. Perhaps doing so would bring these poor birds back to life.
It was with that mindset that she threw, visibly pleased when she saw it hit the target. But oh wait, that was bad. Wouldn't that hurt the bird?

"Yes! Good work!" Li Xia picked up another bird, hurling it from her as hard as she could. They'd kick this big red-eye's butt, and put a stop to all this nonsense. The solid hit made her happy. She turned to the other girl, her tail swishing with happiness. "I bet it won't last much longer. Keep knocking the snot out of it!" 4

Oh no, she disappointed her.
Such a disgrace, Jasmine, such a disgrace.
"U-um, yes!" she squeaked.
She bent down to pick up another dove, apologizing to it before throwing it.
This time, the dove made a resounding "SMACK" as it connected with the target before sliding down.
She was so so sorry dove ahhhhhh

She didn't even notice her friend was distressed. All she noticed was that no birds were being thrown.
"Come on," she was being whiny again, "You have to THROW the birds. Like before. Hit the thing. Make it wish it hadn't messed with us!"

Li Xia sighed. "You are not hurting them." She reached over and took the bird from the other ghoul. "They don't have feelings. Or bones. They can't feel pain."
She turned back towards the red dot and chucked the bird. It hit was a solid smack!
"See. It didn't even feel that!" She was grinning. A lot.

That... wasn't right. Even if they were unconscious right now and... miraculously lacking any bones, they were still living, breathing creatures.
She was only throwing them before with the hopes of taking down the target, which might have reverted them back to their original state, but to think she'd sacrifice a few for the sake of many, the thought made her ill. How could she? She was hurting them! Savage!!
She was so disappointed with herself. So so disappointed, yet there wasn't any other way, and-
Jasmine looked up to see Li Xia take the bird from her.
"N-no, wai-"
The bird hit the target spot on, and Jasmine recoiled in horror.

Li Xia was chuckling to herself, proud. They were teaching that there evil-eye a thing or two. Why, in no time at all-- Her attention was diverted by a white light. The portal had returned! Not that Li Xia had noticed it was ever gone. She looked around. Then her gaze settled on her friend. One black hand reached out and grabbed that pretty sleeve. "Come on. We are getting out of here. This place is boring and weird and I bet we can find way more fun things to do." And with that, she was dragging her new friend back towards the portal, back towards school.

Jasmine was still mourning the cruelty suffered by those poor birds when she was suddenly dragged away by Li Xia.
