Clay explained, watching as the Greninja pulled off an Extrasensory attack. "That and er... I ain't stupid. Water attacks won't do near the damage Bulldoze would do on a water type like yer froggie there." Clay shrugged and watched his Palpitoad hop back up onto it's stubby feet after recovering from the psychic slam. "One more time Pal." Clay nodded to his pokemon as it slammed into Simon's Greninja again, slowing it down even further.

Simon blinked a few times, "I'm sorry if that came off rude Clay, I didn't mean it to come off like that at all. When I went against Elsa I had ground Pokemon so I really didn't see her using a signature move especially since it would have no effect on the likes of my Gliscor. Come over here though Greninja," he called out as Greninja came over. He wasn't returning him, just giving him a little refresher. Opening the top of a Moomoo milk he let Greninja drink it down. "Ni, ni," he said thanking him as he jumped out to return to battle, fully healed up. "Finally I don't think you're stupid at all Clay, trainers probably come in here all the time with water Pokemon to battle your gym type. I myself have two more water Pokemon I caught in reserve just for your gym."

Clay chuckled once again as Simon apologized if his comment had come off as rude. "Naw. Takes more than a simple question to offend this cowboy." Clay adjusted the brim of his hat and nodded. "Mm. You should count yerself lucky then that ya had the right pokemon. That there ol' one two combo of hers is nasty to go through otherwise." Clay insisted. Simon then went on to point out that he didn't think Clay was stupid, and Clay scratched the bridge of his nose, debateing whether or not to explain to the kid that he'd said it as a figure of speech, knowing full well Simon didn't necessarily think he was stupid per se, but he shrugged it off, watching as Simon took his turn to heal his pokemon, chuckling as Simon mentioned having three more water types in reserve, just for him. "Well now! Don't I feel special." Clay chuckled a bit more, lightheartedly of course, taking a shine to Simon bit by bit. It always took a while, Clay was more of a tough love sort of guy, but he had a good heart. "Alright Pal, looks like we gotta start over from scratch, so let's try to lowere it's accuracy with some Muddy Water!" Clay commanded, his Palpitoad drawing up the murky waters mixed with the damp soil around them and shooting it at the Greninja.

Nodding at the man he grinned, "If Greninja is unable to battle I have the perfect team member to come out and play. However I have more faith in my starter than that but hope for the best, prepare for the worse." Then to Greninja,"Come on pal, attack hard with another extrasensory!" Greninja jumped doing a summersault in the air to crouch low and to a kick that threw another psychic wave at the little Toad Pokemon who took the hit (-80) but didn't flinch. Then Simon had an idea. "Clay I'm going to send out a Pokemon but he'll stick with my sister back there. I think you will like to see it." With that he send out his own Palpitoad that appeared in Evelyn's open hands, she was too surprised as this Pokemon seemed to glow and wasn't blue at all but pink, and sparkling. The Palpitoad chirped as he continued to chew on the sock.

"Well that didn' work..." Clay muttered to himself, scratching at his chin as the pokemon's accuracy remained perfect. He blinked and looked ahead at the challenger, grinning at his remark, and giving a nod. "That's a mighty good perspective ta have there," he praised. He frowned somberly as his pokemon took the attack, already planning to switch back to do a bit more damage to try and whittle the pokemon's health back down a bit more. "Go ahead and use that Bulldoze move o' yours, Palpitoad!" he called out. The pokemon obeyed, and both looked up when Simon decided to sned out a pokemon for him to see. Clay quirked an eyebrow, reaching up to scratch under his hat as he watched curiously, grinning as the Palpitoad was released. "Well now, that's a mighty interestin' lookin' pokemon... But it looks like it needs a bit o' trainin' before it could match up against mine. Sure is... differen' lookin', though..." he remarked, looking with interest and amusement at the pokemon.

It didn't need to be told again, Simon would want him to use extrasensory again, so as he lifted his hand in the air and shouted, "Ninja!" he made a karate chop like motion as a psychic slice smashed down on the Palpitoad, however it wasn't the right motion for the secondary effect as Palpitoad didn't flinch

Not wanting Palpitoad to gain an upper hand and to get through this battle as quickly as possible Simon nodded. "Yes I have been blessed in meeting some amazing people and Pokemon." Evelyn smiled as the Palpitoad in her hands tittered blowing harmless bubbles around the sock in his mouth. Closing his eyes Greninja made the hand signs again building up the aura and psychic energy around himself. "Greninja another extrasensory!" As if doing a headbutt another powerful blast of energy smashed down on Clay's Palpitoad's head. The power of this attack might have done it leaving Palpitoad in a daze, possibly a flinch

That's okay I understand, just wished I didn't waste that much time with them.
Great the psychic headbutt managed to knock Palpitoad into a flinch, even to keep this up the little guy's aqua ring was going to lessen Greninja's attack. Then again if he could damage the Pokemon to faint before the healing move allowed it to be fully healed again. "Great move Greninja let's do it again just like last time." Getting low and getting ready Greninja focused himself before flipping and throwing another psychic headbutt at the water Pokemon causing the Palpitoad to flinch

Yeah it is from that event, sadly they didn't keep up with anything else. In fact in PHL I actually already beat Clay but it was never judged by anyone.
Once again his Greninja was showing his versatility moving away from water attacks to the psychic one. That and Simon's luck was picking up, the confusion curse from before was being negated by the flinching of now. As long as Greninja kept this up they'd be onto the next Pokemon and finally hitting the Pokemon weak against Greninja. "You know what to do," Simon called out as Greninja once against flipped doing a kick that sent a wave of psychic energy hurling at the gym leader's Pokemon. Sadly this time he didn't score a flinch
