He raised his eyebrows a bit when she stood and moved away, though, frowning worriedly. "Are you sure...? What happened?" he asked, rubbing the back fo his head. He looked over as Zubat swooped down, squeaking and screeching in what seemed to be a questioning and concerned way as he fluttered about Cheria, apparently trying to discern whether she was okay or not.
Marx blinked and shifted as he was introduced to the rather large Zoroark, feeling... oddly... small, which wasn't normal for him, given he stood at over six foot. He managed to give a smile, though, shoulders raised as he gave a little wave. "Hi?" he greeted.

"Thank you." she reached out to take her prize, but found it nearly impossible when Eevee started to fidget in protest and in the end it was Xion who took them, her eyes growing bright as she stared at the small badge in her hand.
'It seems he's already developed an attachment.' Amethyst observed amusedly, her tail flicking back and forth as they exited the gym. "Yes, he has." chocolate brown eyes trailed down to the shiny fuzzball, who stared back with near content before he nuzzled himself against her. A soft coo was to follow as Alexandra failed to hold back her noise. "We'll be heading to Granite Cave to train." she informed all three, earning a quizzical crane of the head from Eevee but a nod of understanding from the other two female. The newborn was... well, new, he wouldn't quite understand the names of locations nor what 'training' truly meant until later.

Marx looked uncertain a moment, but then smiled, and gave a nod, perking up quickly. If she was sure she was okay, and just wanted to get past it, than okay! He was certainly alright with that. "Yeah, of course! I've got an old rod I picked up a little while ago we can use to try and catch something!" he agreed, giving a grin. "After that, do you wanna go train in the cave for a bit?" he asked, heading for the shoreline and lacing his fingers behind his head again as he looked sideways at her.

Marx couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her remark, but he was smiling in amusement. "Really? You think Magikarp are cute? Heh, you're funny! I don't think I've heard anyone else ever say that," he commented, reaching a hand up as Zubat landed on his shoulder, lightly scratching the little pokemon's chin. Both perked up when she commented on catching one of the same species, and actually seemed to exchange a glance... despite the pokemon's lack of actual eyes...
"Heh, really? Awesome! Looks like you may get a friend, Zu!" Marx commented, grinning at the bat, who gave a sort of grumbling screech in response. Marx frowned. "Not Zu? Man, I really gotta nickname my pokemon..." he muttered, scratching the back of his head. Shrugging, though, he moved over towards the doc, dropping down and gesturing for Cheria to sit next to him. "Here, I'll set it up, and we can see if we catch anything. Want me to go first?" he asked, pulling the rod out and unfolding it, setting it like tent support rods and setting up the fishing string.
[[ The fishing information will be included in locations fairly soon, so for now, Serebii has to be used, but I think the Old Rod can only catch Tentacool and Magikarp anyway. She listened to Marx talk to Zubat and then laughed softly. "Ask your Kirlia. He can ask what they want to be called and tell you. That's how I found out what Lilith wanted to be named."

Marx shook his head with a grin. "Nah! I think they're cool!" he remarked with a laugh, "I've just never heard anyone describe them as 'cute' before!" Serious or not, he still thought it was funny that she did. With their big eyes and gaping mouth, and lack of grace, most people thought of them as 'pitiful' rather than 'adorable'. Personally, Marx really did think they were cool-- he used to play with them when he was little, and he loved watching them evolve into the enormous pokemon they became. Just thinking about it made him want one! But he had enough pokemon... for now.
"Hmmm... I think I did that once," he remarked, struggling with the fishing pole a bit, then setting it down as he got it fixed up. "I don't think he said they really had any ideas. He helps me make sure I don't give them any bad ones, though!" Once he had the fishing rod all good to go, he pulled it back, then cast his line, kicking his feet a bit over the side of the dock as he waited for it to catch.
"Do you wanna try for the next one?" he asked, looking over at her.

Marx perked up a bti when she offered to help name his pokemon. "Really? That would be awesome!" he replied, grinning. He was just about to nod and comment to her agreeing to try and fish, as well as try and possibly discuss names, when there was a tug on the fishing pole. He looked forward, pulling back, but yelped when the pokemon suddenly sprang forward, latching onto his face with is tentacles.
Marx flailed as he fell back, his voice muffled now, but Basil was there in a second, hidding the pokemon and knocking it back and absorbing some of its health. Marx sat up while his pokemon took care of the wild pokemon, blinking with his hair a bit of a mess, sticking up slightly at one point. "De?" He blinked a few more times, but then looked at Cheria, grinning. "Well that was interesting! Guess we should expect them to retaliate more!" he remarked,g rinning sheepishly. Basil gave him an annoyed glance over his shoulder as the tentacool fell, K.O.ed into the water and sank under its surface.
"Here you go," he offered, handing the rod over, "Basil will make sure none of them leap out like that again!"

Cheria smiled. She'd be happy to help him out with the naming. It would be fun! As she watched Marx's line for any tugging, she thought through a series of names he could call his Zubat. There weren't a lot of clever yet obvious names for a Zubat. "Huh....Names for Zubat are kind of hard. My mind keeps going to Bruce." Cheria blinked when there was a tug on the line, and watched as a Tentacool popped out of the water and assaulted Marx. She herself darted out of the way, definitely not taking a chance with being attacked herself. Thankfully, Basil jumped into action and rescued his trainer, knocking the Tentacool right out and back into the water. She returned to stand next to Marx, slowly sitting back down again. As she took the rod, she suddenly felt very unsure. But, Cheria wanted to try at least once. "Well, I'm counting on him. It was really cool. How he jumped in to help you. He's an awesome Grovyle~." She just hoped other Tentacool were so grabby.
Tossing the line into the water - a clumsy but successful attempt - Cheria sat there for a few minutes. "So, how many of your Pokémon have nicknames? Basil is a clever name." She smiled at Marx as she spoke. She was being honest. Basil was a very neat name for a Grass-type like Grovyle. Or, well, Treecko's evolutionary line. They were all very cool Pokémon. Like Snivy. The blonde's eyes went to the line when she felt a tug. She panicked for a moment; what did she do now!? "Um...!" Cheria reeled in the line, getting a bit of a fight, but she reeled in the catch soon enough. She was surprised to see a Seel biting on the line wire. What was a Seel doing here? They usually lived in cold climates. "Well, that's...unusual....But, I'm definitely catching her! A Seel would be amazing to have on the team~!" Seel looked at Cheria before clapping her fins together and then letting go of the line, disappearing back into the water. "Ah...! B-But, I....Inwas goig to catch her...." Jun looked at Cheria before crawling down to press the button on Sheena's ball, releasing the Froakie. "Fro?""What's up? I was napping.""You can swim. There's a Seel in the water, and Cheria wants to catch it. Think you can help?" Sheena stared at the Scatterbug, slightly insulted. Of course she could help! Who'd this bug think he was, saying things like that? Hopping over to the edge of the bank, Sheena looked around before jumping into the water; making Cheria panic. "Ah, no! Sheena! The Tentacool...!"

Marx couldn't help but chuckle a bit. 'Bruce' was a kinda funny name, to him. It did seem to sort of fit the Zubat, but he couldn't see himself calling it. Maybe he could use something in the name, though? Broo? Cece? Hmmm... Luckily (or unluckily) he was distracted by the tentacool incident, and forgot to bring it up right away, instead looking over at Basil with a smile when she praised him. The grovyle shifted, muttering some quiet protest with a slight blush over his face, which he hid by scratching the back fo his neck and looking away.
"Heh, yeah, he is," Marx agreed with a bit of a grin. "Gro..." Basil agreed, nodding his head. Apparently, Marx had better acknowledge it... The pokemon's modesty and shyness with the praise seemed to only count when it wasn't his idiot trainer giving him credit. For everything he'd done for Marx, he better give him a little praise....
Marx looked over as Cheria caught a pokemon on the fishing rod, but the pokemon seemed to escape. He raised his eyebrows when her own pokemon released her starter and seemed to send it into battle, unable to help but laugh a bit. He stood up, though, when Cheria called out in concern, taking the fishing rod gently and casting out a line. "I'll try and catch whatever pokemon come out, and battle them so that Sheena can get your Seel," he offered, a pokeball already in hand, "That way she won't be disturbed, or hurt."

Cheria stared at the water as Marx tossed the line back in. Sheena emerged soon after, Seel-less and looking irritated. "What happened?" Sheena glared up at Jun and attacked him with a Quick Attack, knocking him off Cheria's head and taking her perch in that very spot. "Sheena!" Cheria picked Jun up and held him gently, patting him. The Scatterbug gave a happy little sound. "You're mean, Sheena.""Stay off my spot." Jun and Sheena glared at each other, making Cheria sigh. Looked like her team was going to have some problems. "Well, there's always next time. That wasn't the only Seel out there. Thanks for trying, Sheena. Just don't rush into things so recklessly...."
