"What? No, it's fine," he reassured her, still half-smiling. Sure, it had been entirely unexpected, but she hadn't done anything wrong. "We just have to move more slowly. Usually you can tell what's coming just by observation. An especially tall or depressed tile may mean a trap, odd holes in a wall, hanging ropes... uh. A gaping hole in the floor is also a trap, whether or not it's intentional." He'd noticed her sudden discomfort and joked with her gently and try and bring her back to comfort.
He looked up into the darkness and around them, not realizing that the girl had moved away nor that he was rubbing his hands together as if to dispel the previous creepy-crawly feeling. His gaze returned to Eziya and he was no longer smiling, but anyone who knew the man well would see his interest in his half-cocked brow. "Do you want to go deeper, or try and follow the glow?"

Eziya smiled slightly, relaxing a bit once she realized he was okay and not entirely freaked out by her. She knew she was a bit excentric and people didn't always like that about her. She did enjoy hearing about all the different places traps could be as well. She had never realized how resourceful people could be with their traps, especially when it came to keeping others out. It was something incredibly interesting that she had never given much thought, and now she felt like she should research the subject more. Maybe she could find a book about different traps and their locations so she could get better at adventuring as well as just generally learning more. She would like that quite a bit. "I would love to go deeper and try to, but are you okay with it? I know you don't really believe in ghosts or anything..." she trailed off, glancing at him the best she could in the torchlight. "I wouldn't want you or Bosede to get spooked and run out or anything. Poor fluffy over here probably wouldn't be too pleased," she joked as she motioned to the large raptrix who could easily demolish her if he wanted to. She kind of doubted a ghost would bother him any.

"Who says?" Nyiim asked, shifting the quiver at his shoulder. Of course it didn't actually matter where she had gotten that idea from. Just because he wasn't sure if something was real or not didn't mean he staunchly disbelieved. In a world like theirs, one could never know without proof. Everything was so varied and expansive that he couldn't help but explore all of the possibilities.
"Well, I ask because I think we'd have to backtrack a bit to get up there. I have to say, I'm pretty curious myself."

"Sorry. You just didn't really seem too thrilled, but if I am wrong then I apologize. I'd love to go check it out and see what it was if that's okay with you? I don't mind backtracking or anything. As long as we're careful I'm sure we'll be fine," she smiled once more, clutching the torch tightly in her hand. "How do you think our great source of light is doing? Should we find a new one soon? I wouldn't want it to go out. That would be quite scary. Though we may be able to ask the spooky glowing thing to give us light if it goes out," she chuckled to herself. She was definitely eager to find the source of the glow, even if it meant going back a ways to find it. She would stay there all night if she had to in order to find the glowing thing. "I don't know about you, but I don't plan on giving up until we find the glow. Even if it does end up being something silly it's an adventure all the same, and I would like to see it through," she nodded, determination clear on her face.

"It should last another couple of hours at least," he said, gesturing to the torch. Besides, he could light another if it came down to it. The...relic, whatever purpose it had served in the past, was not so dark that they would be lost forever. It'd be irritating, sure, but they'd be fine.
He turned back toward the wall then and began to backtrack down its length, his fingers running across coarse stone. There might have been a carved mural once but now it was hard to distinguish from age and breakage save a few smooth, curving lines. It was seven paces until his hand ducked into a pocket of air. He held a hand out to help Eziya over a small pile of fallen stone and bring the torch closer.
Once she was safe, he shuffled into the empty expanse, sliding his feet over the floor rather than misstep and fall victim to some unlucky course. In moments he found a stair, then a second and a third, and no sign of any danger to speak of. "Come on," he urged, motioning for Eziya to follow him up. The stairway curved left and doubled back on itself, leading to what appeared to be a stone bridge spanning the building. To about rib-height was a half-wall to help you not tip over the edges and it must have been this that the glow had been obscured behind. Nyiim's brow furrowed. It had disappeared left, so shouldn't they have passed it on their way in? Maybe they'd missed it during their first sprint forward and it had gone elsewhere. Surely their eyes couldn't be playing tricks on the both of them? "Do you see it?" he asked, craning over the edge. The bridge may be sturdy, but it may also have been worn from age and disuse. They'd have to take it slowly.

"No, I don't see anything. Did we miss it? Or maybe it's further in?" she whispered, sticking close to Nyiim's side. She wasn't so much afraid of the glowing object, but the old bridge she was a bit freaked out by. She really did not want to end up falling off into the abyss of traps or some other horror. She would much rather get across quickly and never have to deal with the old bridge ever again. Even if that meant potentially missing the ghostly thing they had been chasing. "We should probably get across here before something jumps out and scares us or something, don't you think?" She continued forward, clutching the torch tightly in her hand as she attempted to keep her eyes peeled for the glowing as well as being safe on the bridge. If there were any holes in the bridge it would be a bit hard to see them, but thankfully they had the torch which would help. Oh I do not like this bridge one bit.Eziya began to hum nervously to herself, trying to calm herself down the best she could. She could handle it. Really it was just a simple bridge. Nothing too terrifying. She had this under control.

Nyiim didn't respond verbally, but it was in his character to not. Instead he arched a brow and nodded to the young woman. Yes, it could easily be further in and they might well have missed it, whatever it was.
"We sh--" That was all that made it out, as a part of the grand sentence 'we shouldn't cross if we don't have to.' The glow had appeared again, now unobscured by any object. It simply hovered a good five feet off of the ground, bright and vaguely violet, just shimmering there. The Leaf man's brows furrowed and his mouth hung open, halfway through a word. There it was! He reached his hand out for the torch, determined to go meet the spectre. Bosede rumbled gently beside Eziya, gaze locked on the glow as well.

Eziya willingly handed over the torch to Nyiim, her hand a little shaky as she did so. She couldn't believe they were so close to it! How could it have disappeared so easily and then reappeared without a sound? It just wasn't logical, then again if it was indeed a ghost or spirit of some sort logic did not really apply to it. Once she had handed over the torch to the Leaf man, she gently rested her hand on Bosede's back, hoping the large animal would give her some sort of strength to step closer to the floating object. The great raptrix would protect her, at least she hoped so. "S-should we try to get closer maybe? Or throw something through it?" Eziya whispered, not wanting to disturb the glowing object if it could indeed hear them speak.

His intention had been to go after the glow and leave Eziya where she was to see if it would cross the bridge again, but then she'd be left in the dark. Picking across would be more difficult with the girl in tow, but it was only fair. Sometimes exploring alone did have its advantages.
"Come on," he said, gesturing toward himself. If she kept behind him at least he'd be the only one to fall to his death if the bridge shifted. He began to move slowly, eyes moving between the glow on the other end and his next step upon the bridge.
The glow still hovered, almost as if watching them.

Oh dear she had forgotten about the bridge in her excitement. Eziya slowly crept forward across the bridge with Nyiim, keeping her hand out in front of her in an attempt to keep a good distance from the Leaf man while still sticking close. She wanted to know what this strange glow was more than anything, she just really hoped it was a friendly glow and didn't try to knock them off. "This bridge is slightly terrifying," she muttered, her legs shaking as she nervously continued with him. "You don't think it will break, do you?"

Nyiim disallowed Eziya staying such a distance away lest she step on something he hadn't and pitch to the floor below. Instead he walked with her just at her side, picking through first and then helping her over. He was heavier. There might be things he'd trick that she would not, but not the other way around.
"Oh, no, it looked quite stable from underneath. I wouldn't worry." He hadn't been paying particular attention to the columns that supported it on their way in, to be completely honest. He had no idea if it was stable, but he wasn't going to let her fall either way.
They were nearly across when he looked up to the glow one last time and saw it dart off with unusual speed. His brow furrowed and he leaned over the edge to see if it had gone beneath them. He didn't see it, but he did feel the side wall shift under his hands. One arm darted out, urging Eziya back. It wobbled but didn't fall and he gestured for her to continue. They were nearly there!
Nyiim picked a bit more quickly across the rest of the bridge. Well, they had no choice but to follow it, did they? He felt like this might turn into the most tedious game of cat-and-moracker in existence, but how could they deny this odd glow?
At the end of the bridge were two ways to go. To the left were the stairs back down to the ground floor, but straight ahead was a dark room. He turned to Eziya. Which one?

"Well we might as well continue forward then. No point in turning back now when we have come so far," Eziya smiled, sticking close by Nyiim's side as they finished their way across the bridge. She tried to peek into the dark room, but it was really no use. She couldn't see anything inside. At least now that they were off the bridge she felt a bit safer. She had been a bit stressed by the thought of potentially falling through the old boards on it. Luckily Nyiim had been a kind soul and kept her safe from any sort of danger that may have been. Now they just really needed to find that glowing orb. She had to find it. Her curiosity wouldn't be sated until they knew exactly what this strange thing was. She was stubborn and set in what she wanted and wouldn't back down from it. "Let's find out what this thing is."

Well, that wasn't the most helpful answer. He supposed the girl had no way to read his mind, though, and he'd only thought what he probably should have said. So he'd say it, then, right?
"It's up to you, New Adventurer," he offered, turning his gaze from Eziya to the dark room first and then gesturing to the stairs. "Inside, or down?"
He wasn't too worried about her leading them into danger. This place seemed pretty empty and pretty stable and that was more than he could say for some other haunts.

"I think inside is our best bet. Since we've already seen the ground floor that is. Hopefully there won't be any scary traps," she nodded, cautiously stepping forward while continuing to stick close to Nyiim. The seasoned adventurer would definitely know more about what to expect than she would, so whatever he said about what to expect she would take to heart. He was the one with the weapons too after all. All she had was bandages. Not exactly a fierce weapon of any sort. One of these days she would really have to look into getting something fierce to scare away anything thinking of getting her, or you know, practicing her magic more like the healers had been pushing her to. Instead she had been adventuring. "Do you want to check for traps? Or do you think it's okay? I'd hate to walk into something terrible and you definitely know a lot more than me."

Nyiim nodded and began to walk again with the girl, eyes trailing the ceiling, walls and floor for any signs of danger. He had no idea what this place might be and although there hadn't been any traps yet, that didn't mean there wouldn't be. Clearly this place was old and might have collapsed here and there regardless of dangers set by people. He kept just ahead of the girl and Bosede lagged behind.
"Just keep your eyes and ears open," the Leaf man offered, "I'm armed, so we'll be just fine." Of course a bow and arrow wasn't going to stop a bladed pendulum, but he felt it might reassure her.
As they continued through the room and down into a tunnel, markings began to appear on the walls. They were great scenes of powerful figures Nyiim could not quite name carved into the crumbling stone. He also felt a cool breeze blowing up toward them as the tunnel sloped down further and further. Eventually they came to a staircase, but it looked half-fallen. He turned to Eziya. Would she want to come? He tested the first step with half of his weight, didn't not fall, and took to the second with his hand out for his companion.
"Easy does it," he said, and then looked to Bosede. "Sit. Stay. Wait." The raptrix sat and gave a little whine, but at least he was listening. Nyiim would die if he had to watch the poor beast tumble to its death, agh! Even thinking about it was terrible!
