Gio apperently wasnt helping as much as he had thought and all the Pokemon in the room seemed to let him understand that. "Hey dont hell at me, it was her who obviously spooked it." his comment wasnt ment as an insult to anyone but he was sure that after it came out thats how it would be taken. Giovanni looked over at his Lucario for support. It was obvious he felt backed in a corner and his Lucario had been of felt quiet.
The Lucario blinked. He stepped forward and plucked the little Riolu up and faced it towards him. "Look little one. I know it can be tough after being abandoned or even mistreated. But regardless of how your trainer or former trainer treat you, biting a trainer over being scared is unacceptable" he stared in the little Pokemons eyes. Her Aura defiantly had a familiar feel to it but she was scared, calming but scared. "I dont mean to sound like Im chewing you but you need to understand that keeping your emotions under control is half of being an Aura Pokemon"
Giovanni was quite sure what his Lucario had said but he assumed the general gist of it. "Yeah, what he said. No biting" he gave a smile and looked at October. "Speaking of biting, when You going to fight the Gym Leader?" they had talked about it at the Ball and she mentioned not even battling him yet so he figured now was better than never.

✦ ✦Aiden grimaced slightly at the reproachful tone in Fey’s voice as she said that twenty boxes was a lot of Pocky. Yeah, he would admit that it seemed a bit excessive, since he didn’t really need so much of it when they could’ve just split maybe two or three boxes between them. However, his attention was diverted as the plushies perched around Fey’s chair started wobbling and falling off, Fey scrambling to catch them all before they could touch the floor below. She soon wound up with her arms full of stuffies, and was practically surrounded by them at this point. Aiden just couldn’t help but grin at the sight, watching as she started blushing before she buried her face underneath the large pile of plushies. The subject of the conversation was quickly changed as she asked just how much all of this had cost. The sheepish look on Aiden’s face deepened as Fey expressed her mortified surprise when he revealed the total amount the gifts had cost was about five-hundred dollars. He half-expected her to start ranting at him about how he should be more careful with his money, but she seemed to be restraining herself as she pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. “Yeah, I know, I’m just a basket case with this kind of stuff,” he admitted with an embarrassed chuckle, his bright blue gaze falling to the floor. He should’ve known to stop Aria before she started going crazy with the gifts, though he had a feeling that maybe she had snuck in some extras as well. She was truly quite charitable when it came to these kinds of gifts, but she really needed to practice her restraint with this stuff a little more. Fey reiterated this fact, saying that this was what he got for listening to a Pokémon, that she did have a good eye for gifts and the like but was careless when it came to money. “Well, guess I learned that lesson the hard way, huh?” Aiden asked with a soft chuckle. He knew Aria meant well, but he really needed to teach her to be more careful when it came to spending money, especially if it was his money they were spending. Nonetheless, despite the stern tone in her voice, Fey couldn’t help but laugh at the situation as she held the small army of stuffed toys in her arms. Aiden soon found himself laughing along with her, adding in a lightly joking but somewhat serious comment that he should never go shopping with the Delphox again from here on out. Fey said that she would make sure of it, and that she’d even keep Aria’s Pokeball with her if she had too, since the Delphox was going to bleed him dry if it kept going like this. “Yeah, I know,” Aiden agreed with a nod, still feeling rather embarrassed that he had let Aria rope him into spending so much on all of this stuff. The conversation then shifted to what were they to do with the plushies, since Fey obviously couldn’t carry them all around with her everywhere they went. They came to an agreement to return some of the plushies and keep at least one or two, but when Aiden asked her which ones she wanted to keep, Fey was quite conflicted as she looked between the armfuls of stuffies she held. From the looks of it, choosing which plushies they would return was easier said than done, as it looked like Fey didn’t want to give up any of the toys that looked so much like their respective Pokémon teams. In an attempt to remedy this dilemma, Aiden was glad to offer an alternative by suggesting that they split the toys between themselves so that no one person was carrying the entire load. Fey looked away and closed her eyes, as if she believed that not looking at the sweet, stitched-on faces of the toys looking at her would help to ease her conflicted feelings, and said in a hesitant tone that she would just keep the Sylveon. He smiled and nodded, understanding her decision. She had grown to be quite attached to Thalia even if the Sylveon technically didn’t belong to her, it would make sense for her to keep the toy that reminded her of the beloved Pokémon. Not to mention that the Sylveon had been the first plush he had given her before the whole brigade of them came along. However, she seemed quick to change her mind as she started to say something, but hesitated. Aiden tilted his head slightly, about to ask her something along the lines of ‘but what?’, before she started speaking again. She said that the store might have a 24-hour return policy, where they would have until the end of the day or so to decide about returning some of the toys or not. She suggested that they keep the toys for a while, since they didn’t necessarily have to return them right away, and that they wait for the rain to hopefully stop before going to the store to return some of them. He gave a warm smile as she quietly added that he had bought the toys for her, and that she’d like to keep them around for a bit longer as a bright blush painted her cheeks a deep rosy pink hue. Aiden couldn’t help but grin widely at that. He hadn’t expected Fey to be the kind of person who would have a fondness for stuffed toys, then again, ever since the ball it felt as though he was slowly starting to learn more about her the more time they spent around each other. Now that he thought about it, it was actually rather cute, though he looked away and faked coughing into his elbow to hide the cherry red blush that had started forming on his face. He really needed to get a grip, they were just really good friends, nothing more and nothing less, right? Taking a breath, Aiden cleared the redness from his face as he looked back to Fey and flashed his signature good-natured smile. “Sure thing, if you want to keep the plushies for a bit longer, then I’m not going to stop you~” he said lightly with a nod, glancing towards the window and gazing out through the frosted glass at the torrential downpour still going outside. “It may be some time before this rain shows any signs of letting up anyways,” he added with a soft sigh, turning his attention back towards Fey as she quickly changed the topic. She asked that if each of the plushies had cost about $25, and ten of them was about $250 total, what was the other half of the $500 spent on? Aiden realized that he had a crapton of Pocky still left in the bag, along with a few other packages of gummy fruit hearts and chocolates that Aria had pitched in. Fey seemed to already know, since the bag was laying on the floor wide open with the rest of its contents presented for all to see. She realized that the other half of the money had gone towards the Pocky, starting to say something as her eyes drifted towards the colorful boxes inside the bags. Aiden glanced down towards the floor, his face flushed a deep red with embarrassment once again. “Yeeeeaaah… Though that was more my fault than Aria’s,” he explained, grimacing slightly, “There were just so many different flavors of them available, I guess I kinda went a bit nuts with the Pocky…” He supposed that he wouldn’t be adverse to returning some of the candy, it wasn’t like they necessarily needed a lifetime supply of Pocky right this moment, right? Aria almost couldn’t believe what she was seeing when she, Gio, and Lucario burst into the room that Kiru had led them to. October had a Riolu attached to her hand, and it seemed that the little Fighting-type was unwilling to release her hold on the girl. The Riolu seemed to relax slightly when she noticed Lucario, but when Gio went over and grabbed her in an attempt to pull her off, she grew tense again and bit down harder. October tried to warn the boy that it wasn’t a good idea, hissing in pain as the Riolu sank her teeth deeper into her hand. The girl said that the Riolu’s name was River and that she guessed the Pokemon was hers, saying that the Pokemon was really scared. Aria quickly moved to pull Gio and Lucario away from the two, their method wasn’t doing much to remedy the situation, and she didn’t want River to get hurt because of it. The Riolu was only an infant after all, about two months old at that. Thankfully Nyomii intervened, scolding Gio and Ario and ordering them to put River down. Clearly force was not the way to go about resolving a situation like this, as the Espeon used a much gentler approach and coaxed River to use her ability to read auras to see that October didn’t mean her any harm. Aria pitched in as well, River seemed to be listening to them as she started to relax her jaws, but she still seemed hesitant. River finally seemed to understand, and used her aura-reading ability to scan October’s aura. When it seemed that she deemed the girl safe, River finally released her hold on the girl’s hand. Relief swept over Aria now that the situation at hand was remedied, but there were still matters to attend to as the Riolu burst into tears, crying out about why he had sent her away and if she had done something wrong. The sight of the little Pokemon weeping tugged greatly at Aria’s heartstrings. Poor baby… she couldn’t begin to imagine who could’ve done something to hurt this poor Riolu who wanted nothing more than to please her trainer. Aria frowned at that, her blood starting to boil at the thought of it. No one had any excuse to abuse a baby like that, Pokemon or otherwise, she would’ve gladly given whoever had done this to poor little River a taste of what was coming to them. October had a handle on the situation, however, helping to soothe the Riolu and explaining that the terrible trainer who had given away River was none other than October’s older brother, Septy as she called him. Aria chuckled softly as October called out her brother’s terrible behavior and treatment of River, and helped to calm the little Pokemon down. When it seemed that all was well and good for the time, Aria moved over beside October, noticing River’s flinching as the girl took her into her lap and began to pet her. Nyomii spoke up, agreeing with October and saying that River shouldn’t be too hard on herself, and that she was in good hands now before introducing herself.” October is a very kind and loving trainer, I know for certain she’ll take good care of you, dear~ I’m sure her other Pokemon can attest to that~”she said in a tender tone, giving the little Riolu a warm smile,” It’s a pleasure to meet you, River, all circumstances aside~ I’m Aria~”With introductions out of the way, Aria turned her attention towards October. Reaching a hand out towards the wall near them, she used her psychic energy to pick up the medkit perched on it and brought it over to them.” Here, sweetie, let me see your hand,”she said gently, reaching out and delicately taking October’s hurt hand into her own. The Delphox examined the bloodied area where the Riolu had bitten her with a well-trained eye, taking an alcohol wipe out of the kit and starting to clean it up.” I’ll treat this with some antiseptic and bandage it up, it may sting a little…”she spoke, pulling out a small bottle of antiseptic and spraying the area around the wound before binding it up with some bandages. Once she was finished, she checked her handiwork carefully before giving an approving nod.” From the looks of it, only minor damage was caused, your hand should be healed up well within a couple of days,”she affirmed with a smile, gently releasing her hold on October’s arm. Thankfully the Riolu’s teeth were likely still developing, otherwise it could’ve caused quite a bit more damage than it had. Glancing over, the Delphox narrowed her eyes slightly as Lucario practically snatched River up from October’s lap and began lecturing her about biting her trainer over being scared. He said that he wasn’t trying to sound like he was chewing her out, but she needed to understand that keeping her emotions under control was a part of being an Aura Pokemon. Aria stood up, stepping towards Lucario and giving him a sharp stare in return.” I understand that you’re trying to correct the little one on her mistake, Ario, but you have to understand one thing,”she spoke up, gently taking hold of River and lifting her from his hands,” She’s still only an infant, she’s at a stage in her life where she is likely still very impressionable to what she is taught by her trainers and her peers. Take into consideration everything she has been through while she was with ‘Septy’. He has likely mistreated her in many ways ever since she was hatched, and when she came to October, she was hurt and scared about being given away and getting a new trainer because of how and what she learned from her old trainer. And fear is a very strong emotion, it can provoke irrational responses under stressful situations, just like how a creature will fight back and try to escape at any cost if it is cornered."She bent down slightly, gently placing River back down onto the ground before facing the Lucario again.” Yes, the fact that she bit October was indeed unacceptable, but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t entirely unjustified. If you woke up in some unknown place with strange people all around you, and you have no idea of their intentions and you’re frightened out of your wits, one of your reactions would be to try to fend them off if they tried to come near you, would it not?”she stated, sighing softly,” She needs time to settle in since she’s only now accepted October as her new trainer, and once she’s comfortable with that, then you can teach her your own lessons as you’d like. But until then, kindly give her some space and leave her be. The poor dear’s gone through some horrible experiences; she needs time for the wounds to heal.” With that said, she turned her attention away from Lucario and moved towards October again, listening as Gio asked the girl if she was thinking of taking on Falkner. Of course, October had yet to get her first badge from what she recalled, and Aria was wondering if the girl was indeed planning on getting Falkner’s badge before everyone was well enough to start heading for Azalea Town.✦ ✦

"Thank you Aria. I feel better already" October smiled admiring the delphox's handiwork. Gio seemed to suddenly get defensive and she frowned. " I didn't mean to scare her. And you spooked her more when you tried to pick her up. What if she bit you too? " She huffed, watching as Lucario picked River up the riolu ears drooped but otherwise she didn't fight him. She stood up fiddling with her scarf. At the mention of beating she tensed and decided to avoid his question. "W-what? Your gone for a couple of days and you don't even say a hello. Nice to see you too. " She avoided his gaze, honestly she was a bit scared to take on the gym, what if they weren't ready. And she knew soon the others where going to head to the next town, she wanted to go with them but she needed that badge first. Kiru sighed up at his trainer before going to meet his new teammate."Hi I'm Kiru! you don't have to worry Octobers really nice. If you do something bad just make a cute face and she'll forgive you. And sometimes she gives cookies"
River was still a little nervous around the new faces, but she knew they wouldn't hurt her. " Hi, nice to meet you." She gave a small smile, holding her paws in front of her . She was suddenly picked up by the Lucario and whimpered. "...m'sorry.." She squeaked out at the older pokemon, she really was she hadn't meant to bite her new trainer, she didn't know it was her new trainer. She wanted to be put down now, she silently promised she wouldn't do it again, but luckily Aria had taken her away and put her down. She instantly hid behind her new trainer.

Natalia honestly pitied Aiden more than anything else right now, nodding as he suggested that he'd learned his lesson the hard way. "Yeah.... The hard way. I suppose that's the only real way to learn anything." Natalia sighed. "But we can fix this. Or... At least ease it slightly." Natalia smiled sympathetically. Of course, that was easier said than done. Natalia didn't want to give back any of these stuffed animals, but she steeled her nerves, admitting that she would be willing to give them all back with the exception of her Sylveon doll. She said it quickly, like ripping off a band-aid, but as she hesitated and asked to stick with the stuffed pokemon for a little longer, Aiden seemed to take notice. As he grinned widely and faked a cough into his elbow, Natalia's face grew hot as she averted his gaze and sank into her chair and stuffies. Aiden didn't make a comment on the matter, just insisting that he wouldn't stop her from holding onto her gift a bit longer, and that besides it didn't look like the rain would let up anytime soon. Natalia certainly wouldn't allow these cute stuffed pokemon to get drenched in rain when Aiden had so thoughtfully bought them for her.
However, determining the fate of the plushes only solved the issue for about $225 of the $500 he had spent, and when asked about the other $350, Natalia was able to put two and two together, figuring out that Aiden had basically spent about $350 on candy. There were a lot of flavors of pocky, he'd wanted to try them all, and he admitted that part of the shopping spree was his fault, not Aria's. "Kinda went nuts....?" Natalia quirked a brow expectantly at his choice of phrase there. It was a bit of an understatement. "Aiden, you spent $350 on candy...." She said, tone soft, firm, and a little concerned, but he had done it for her, and Natalia decided to ease up on the poor boy. He clearly felt embarrassed for his actions, and Natalia felt bad for giving him such a hard time about it. "Dear Arceus..... What am I going to do with you?" Natalia chuckled. "You're too much of a pushover, you know? You just can't say no to anybody, not even yourself. You should really try to learn some self control." She scolded gently. Then again, she was one to talk, unable to control the voices in her head, but that was a bit of a different matter..... Natalia looked troubled at the thought but quickly dismissed it, wheeling herself closer to Aiden. "Come here." She insisted, reaching for him. She wanted to at least hug him for the thoughtfulness of it all. As irresponsible as he was with this splurge, Aiden had somehow charmed her once again. "You're so sweet, I don't need candy, I have you~" She chuckled.
Nyomii practically bristled with anger as Ario tried to insist with River that what she had done was wrong. Though there was truth to his words, the Riolu was just a hatchling, he didn't need to be so stern with her. Telling her to keep her emotions in control.... That was hard for an adult to do, much less an infant. Nyomii was about to plow the Lucario over with a tongue lashing he shouldn't soon forget, but thankfully Aria stepped in and spoke to him sternly but calmly, she did a much better job with it than Nyomii would have. The Espeon was still a little cross, and River's meek and timid response to Ario's scolding didn't help her predicament, but Aria had bought her the time to level her head a bit. "Ario, clearly you have no experience with children if you except this little one to have such decision making skills. She was only recently hatched, she relies very much on instinct, I'll bet she isn't even used to using her aura yet. I'm no Lucario clearly, but when I first evolved into an Espeon I was very young, and I had no idea how to control my psionic powers. My trainer Adrian was very patient with me, I can't imagine how different things would have been had he hit me every time I sent a psychic wave out and toppled over a few desks, or got rid of me because I was too scared to use my powers." Nyomii explained evenly. "The biting was unacceptable yes, but this little one was scared out of her wits, just as Aria said, and telling her that she needs to keep her emotions under control.... I'm having trouble keeping my emotions under control right now!!!" The Espeon huffed. At least October's hand was doing better due to Aria's handiwork.

✦ ✦ Aiden nodded as Fey agreed with his statement about his learning the lesson of listening to Aria the hard way, saying that it was likely the only real way that anyone was able to learn anything. “Well, they do say that we all learn from our mistakes,” he added with a soft sigh, still feeling rather embarrassed about the whole situation. However, Fey tried to be optimistic about it as she suggested that they would be able to remedy this dilemma, or at least try to ease it as she gave a sympathetic smile. Aiden reciprocated with his own lop-sided sheepish grin, knowing that the store likely had some sort of return policy so that any unused gifts could be given back for a refund. However, it seemed that deciding which of the stuffed toys she was willing to give up was presenting its own conflict to Fey. She seemed unwilling to give back any of the plushies, though she said that she would gladly keep just the Sylveon and have the others returned. Aiden noticed her hesitation after she made her decision, and gave a soft chuckle to himself. It was like watching a young child in a candy store trying to figure out what kind of treat they wanted the most, and it was just so adorable that he just couldn’t help but grin like an idiot at the thought of it. Fey eventually settled for just keeping the plushies for a bit longer since he had been so thoughtful to get them for her, and that they could return the ones she was willing to give up when the rain let up. Or, if all else failed, perhaps October would maybe like one or two of the plushies before they gave the majority of them back. Unable to help himself, Aiden attempted to hide the growing blush that was creeping onto his cheeks by faking a cough into his elbow. He for one didn’t expect someone like Fey to have a thing for stuffed Pokemon toys, though she seemed pretty embarrassed about displaying it so clearly as she averted her gaze, her face flushed a bright pink as she sank into the miniature sea of stuffies. Tempting as it was to ask her about it, Aiden gladly said nothing more on the matter as he agreed with her suggestion of keeping the toys until the rain stopped. Of course, it would likely take a long while before the storm outside would show any signs of letting up anyways. With that settled, the topic then shifted to what he had spent the rest of the money on, since the plushies alone only accounted for about $225 out of the $500 that he had spent overall. Fey already caught on to what else he had spent so much money on as her gaze shifted to the bags again, clearly spotting the large collection of Pocky that was displayed for all to see. Well, since it was virtually unavoidable at this point in time, Aiden figured it was time to face the music as he admitted to buying a whole bunch of the stuff in the many different flavors they had available. There had just been so many flavors to choose from, it had been hard to choose only a few out of the forty-eight or so they had on sale. Fey rose an eyebrow at his admittance of going a ‘bit overboard’, reiterating his answer as if it were an understatement considering how much Pocky he was toting, which it likely was. She was quick to remind him that he had spent an outrageous amount of money on just candy, about $350 for that matter, her tone was soft, firm, and even a bit concerned. Aiden’s gaze fell to the floor again as Fey asked what she was going to do with him, though he glanced back up and gave a small smile as she chuckled. She said that he was just too much of pushover and that he couldn’t say no to anyone, not even to himself, and that he really needed to learn some self control. “Yeah, I know,” he said with a chuckle, nodding towards her, “I’ve been told many a time that I’m just too nice for my own good, guess I still have yet to learn my lesson, huh?” This hadn’t been the first time he had been told that he was just a complete pushover, that he was just too damn selfless for his own good, etc. etc. Maybe it was true, but it was just who he was as a person. Aiden was never the kind of individual to turn a blind eye to those in need of help or were troubled, and he loved to provide for those who couldn’t provide for themselves. Maybe his kindness would end up killing him one of these days, but Aiden didn’t care, he would much rather die while saving those he cared deeply for over anything else. Even if they disagreed with it, Aiden always prioritized the health and safety of his friends and significant others over his own, and that was how it was always going to be. A spark of concern gleamed in his eyes when he noticed Fey’s troubled expression, though it was gone as quickly as it had come as she wheeled herself closer to him. She spoke up, telling him to come closer as she held out her arms towards him, saying that he was so sweet that she didn’t need candy when she had him. Aiden smiled warmly, leaning in closer as he held out his own arms to reciprocate the proffered hug. “You’re too sweet to me sometimes, you know~” he said softly with a light laugh, widening his arms to envelop the plushies Fey held as he wrapped her up in a tender embrace. His smile widened, a faint pink blush dusting his cheeks as he gently lay his head on her shoulder. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Fey~” he whispered softly to her. With River properly calming down and everything well taken care of and everyone properly introduced to each other, Aria immediately got to work with mending October’s bitten hand. She wiped the wound clean with an alcohol rag so that no blood was left, then sprayed the bite with some antiseptic to help prevent any infections before binding it up with some bandages. Once she was pleased with her handiwork, she gave the girl the news that her hand suffered only minor damage and should heal up well and good within a few days. The Delphox smiled widely as October thanked her, saying that she felt better already.” You’re very much welcome, sweetie~ Anytime~”she said happily, closing up the medkit but keeping it close by just in case. She chuckled softly to herself as she watched Kiru introduce himself to his new teammate, River still seemed rather nervous in the presence of so many new faces, but she was holding up fairly well as she said it was nice to meet everyone. Aria’s ears flicked as Gio got defensive about when she and Nyomii had shouted at him to stop pulling at the Riolu when he had been trying to get her off of October, saying that the girl had been the one who had clearly spooked River. The Delphox rolled her eyes, though she supposed that she couldn’t be too angry with the boy. He had just been acting on instinct, even if his method had not been the proper way to go about with solving the problem. October said that she hadn’t meant to scare River, but Gio had freaked the Riolu out even more when he had tried to pick her up and it was possible she may have bitten him too.” It’s understandable that you were trying to help as best you could, Gio, just please think a little more before you act next time,”she said with a small smile as she nodded towards the boy,” You could’ve very well hurt the poor dear by trying to forcibly pry her off like that…”Maybe it was just her motherly instincts talking, but Aria had truly feared that trying to pull River off would’ve caused her more unnecessary harm than needed. But she was just beating a dead Ponyta with a stick at this point, the crisis was averted, there was nothing they needed to worry about regarding that anymore. However, her attention quickly snapped towards Lucario as he stepped in and, without any warning, plucked River up from October’s lap and began lecturing her. Even though he did have a right to chastise her for biting her trainer, Aria felt that he was going a bit too far with his expectations of the Riolu that was not even a year old. Even Nyomii seemed to be growing more and more upset with the Lucario with every word that he spoke, and she was prepared to give him a severe tongue lashing at any given moment. Upon hearing River’s meek response of ‘sorry’ to Ario’s scolding, the Delphox had heard enough and moved in to intervene. Aria then proceeded to chew out Ario in the most severe manner she could muster while she kept a calm and level head, gently taking River off of the Lucario’s hands and putting her back down so she could return to October. While she understood his explanation that the Riolu’s biting of her new trainer was unacceptable, he failed to take into account River’s impressionability with how young she was, as well as how fear tended to naturally provoke irrational responses under situations of great stress. The Lucario clearly had no experience with parenting, or children in general, and yet he was expecting River to be able to control her emotions when she was still learning to control her powers over aura. She then took a breath, trying to diffuse the tension as she told Lucario to just leave River alone and give her time to get settled in with her new trainer, to let the wounds of her past treatment heal. With a nod, she turned away from Ario and returned back to October. She could sense that Nyomii was still quite cross with the Lucario, but the Delphox’s stern lecture had given her some time to even herself. The Espeon then threw in her two cents, telling Ario that he has no experience with children if he really expected River to have developed decision making skills at her current age. The Riolu had only been recently hatched, after all, and she was still learning her way around, it was only natural for her to act on instinct rather than logic. Nyomii went on to say that she had made her own share of mistakes with her old trainer, Adrian, because she had evolved into an Espeon when she had been very young and was still getting a grip on controlling her new psionic powers. She agreed as well that the biting was unacceptable, but as the Delphox had explained earlier, the little one had been scared out of her wits and acted on instinct to ensure her own survival in the situation she was faced with. Nyomii said that Ario’s expectations for the little one to be able to control her emotions at such a young age was pushing the envelope too much, and that even she was having trouble keeping her own emotions under control right now. A concerned look on her face, Aria moved towards Nyomi, watching as River darted to hide behind October. The Delphox’s gaze went over towards Lucario once again, and she gave him the same sharp stare as she had a minute ago.” And as Arceus is my witness, I will whack you with this stick if I catch you grabbing at that child again,”she added as she motioned to the thick stick she carried in her tail, her tone even and calm but carrying with it a deep undertone of warning. River was clearly not fond of a lot of contact, and Lucario needed to be taught a lesson or two concerning personal space, it seemed. For now, Aria focused on keeping Nyomii calm as she bent down and began gently stroking the Espeon’s violet pelt.” It’s okay, Mimi…”she soothed softly, listening partially to Gio and October’s conversation as well. October avoided the boy’s question about if she was taking on the Gym leader, saying that he had been gone for a couple of days and now that he was back, he could’ve at least said a ‘hello’ to her. Still, Aria could sense the girl’s uncertainty concerning taking on Falkner, fearing that her team wasn’t quite prepared to take on the Flying-type Gym leader. October wanted to come along with them when they would head to Azalea soon, but she still needed the Zephyr badge before they left. ” I’m sure that you’re more than prepared to take on Falkner, but that’s entirely up to you, sweetie~ You’re only as ready as you believe you are,”she encouraged with a smile, hoping to ease the girl’s fears a little,” I know you’re scared, dear… I can tell you for certain that most other trainers have felt the same way as you upon taking on their first Gym battle. But they do say that you won’t get anywhere fast in life if you keep miring yourself in fear and uncertainty. Just have faith in yourself, have faith in your Pokémon~ Strive for trying your best and your hardest, and if things go downhill, learn from your mistakes and use those lessons to improve yourself overall as a trainer~”She chuckled softly as Kiru went after River, who was still hiding behind October, assuring her that Lucario wasn’t scary.” Ario truly does mean well, sweetie, his intentions truly are for the greater good. He just tends to be a bit more… straightforward, with certain things,”she added with a smile. She was sure that River would slowly grow to become more comfortable around all of them, it just required time, patience, nurturing, and a parental touch.✦ ✦

Giovanni frowned at Octobers comment, training was a he had to do and to be honest he had no idea she was even in town still. "I take that as a no." he tried to play it cool and act as if she hadn't just yelled at him."I think today is a better day than no day. Besides, you survived the ball, so I don't see why you don't think you could beat Faulkner" the way Giovanni said this almost seemed as if he was trying to provoke October in just doing it. Then if it worked he would follow her just to make sure she didn't back out.
The Lucario took a step back. So that he could see both of his verbal attackers."I don't need to know how to raise a child to understand my own kind. Even before a Riolu's egg hatches it can sense small traces of Aura and even radiate Aura itself in small waves. After it hatches the ability is much stronger. The difference, however, between a Lucario and a Riolu is not control over Aura, but waves. A Riolu uses Aura Waves, whereas a Lucario uses full on Aura." he paused for a short moment, "Lest you forget, I was once a Riolu myself" he wanted to turn his back and walk over to his trainer but he was sure that that was not the best idea.
Gio stared at October waiting for her answer. She had nothing to worry about after all with her Picchu in toe. That little guy would probably take the cake if she let him. Maybe she would like to battle before hand? "If you don't wanna battle the Gym !leader you could always Battle me instead?" he asked

October put her hands on her hips still not looking at him, blushing. "I-I'm not scared. I could take him." Honestly though, she was feeling pretty nervous at doing it. What if her pokemon got hurt badly, or what if she messed up. The ball still haunted her a bit but then she guessed if would. She shook her head to his battle offer and answered a bit quieter. "Thanks but I can't we wouldn't be fair since you already have a badge." Wanting to get out of there she carefully picked up River. "I-I'm going then" She made her way out and headed for the gym a second time that day. Kiru perked up at his trainers and followed after. "Chu pichu!!" ( We can beat him no problem!) He hoped his trainer was being serious this time, but she didn't seem like it.
It seem the rain had stopped for a bit enough to escape the center. When she made it to the actual gym she froze like she had earlier. The building looked alot bigger than before. No she couldn't do it, why did she even come here. The rain might start up again so she should head back, River and Kiru might catch colds.

Natalia smiled gently at Aiden as he freely admitted to his extreme selflessness being a problem. "It's not a bad thing to care about other people, you're spending $500 on a girl you only met a few--" Natalia blinked. It hadn't only been a few weeks ago, it only felt like it since they had spent so much time at the halloween ball. In reality, now they had known each other for a few months. That was a bit more reasonable, but still, Natalia needed to make her point. "Erm.... Barely know." She amended. "I'm just worried about you Aiden.... I'm not going to take advantage of your generosity, but other people might." Her expression hardened. "There are cruel, ruthless, horrible people in this world, and they wouldn't hesitate to take everything you are and all that you have and leave you with absolutely nothing...." She said sadly, finishing the thought in her mind; People like me....
Their hug was a bit awkward around the stuffed pokemon and working with her wheelchair, but nice all the same as Aiden leaned down into Natalia’s offered embrace. Natalia couldn’t help but smile softly as she held him close, a warm fuzzy feeling fluttering through her as he held her and rested his head on her shoulder and insisted that she was sweet to him as well. “Heh… More like bittersweet…” She said quietly, biting her lip. More like just bitter raw unsweetened chocolate… She thought, knowing Aiden wouldn’t tolerate it being said out loud. She held him closer anyways, smiling somewhat as he wished her a happy valentines day. “Happy Valentines day Aiden….” It was more vulnerable times like this where Natalia indulged in her feelings for Aiden, feeding the beast before locking it away and starving it before daring to feed it again. Keep it weak, then give a little, that way she wouldn’t go completely insane by keeping it all bottled up. However, she couldn’t feed it too much, lest it run rampant, and with that in mind, Natalia reluctantly let him go, clearing her throat softly. “L-let’s have some of this pocky then shall we…?” She insisted, opening the box in her pile of goodies and tearing into the wrapper before pulling out two of the strawberry cream covered sticks, handing one to Aiden. As she nibbled on hers however, she shifted uncomfortably in her seat once again. “Ugh…. I can’t relax in this stupid chair…. Could you maybe help me onto the bed so I can stretch out…?” Natalia asked gently, attempting to stand, favoring her healthy leg.
Nyomii settled down as Aria gently pet her, taking deep breaths to calm herself down. Child abuse was just a sensitive area for her, pokemon, human, or otherwise. She simply couldn't stand seeing River stand there trembling and getting scolded for something that wasn't technically her fault.She nodded as Ario explained himself, and mustered an apology. "Forgive my outburst.... I'm sorry...." Nyomii's tail twitched irritably as she stared at the floor with a hardened gaze. If she ever met this "Septy" character, she would be sure to give him a piece of her mind.

✦ ✦Between the army of plushies that Fey was holding as well as the fact that she was in a wheelchair, the hug was a bit awkward to say the least. But Aiden didn’t mind at all as they wrapped their arms around each other, smiling warmly as he rested his head on her shoulder. He felt butterflies stirring in his stomach as a light pink blush tinted his cheeks, saying that she was too sweet to him sometimes as well. She gave a soft chuckle, saying more like bittersweet in response as she held him closer. Aiden’s smile widened slightly as he told her Happy Valentine’s Day, to which she responded in kind. He knew that he and Fey were just friends, and that was it… But it was moments like these that he found himself questioning if that really was all there is to their relationship. He recalled experiencing similar feelings back at the ball, when he and Fey had danced together. Of course, the entire ball ended up being nothing but an elaborate illusion after all of that, but everything that had happened during their time there had been real. And, lest he forget, there was also the fact that Aria and Nyomii had been trying to push the two of them together, coaxing them to do things with each other like dancing and all sorts of romantic things whenever the opportunity presented itself. Even though Aiden would be mildly annoyed at the very least with their constant tendencies to play matchmakers with him and Fey, he just couldn’t bring himself to tell them otherwise. Maybe it was because he didn’t want to hurt their feelings and that it was mostly just in good humor, or maybe it was because a part of him felt that they were actually right. Speaking of Pokémon, he had noticed that Aria hadn’t come in yet even though she said she would join them shortly after she gave Nurse Joy her Valentine’s gift. Not that he really minded it, he had pretty much figured by now that she, like Nyomii, was just giving the two of them some private time together. The two of them were probably out in the lobby talking with each other, or perhaps they had come across Gio and October and were visiting with them while everyone waited for Fey to recover. Nevertheless, he withdrew himself as Fey released him, albeit reluctantly, and cleared her throat before changing the subject yet again. She suggested that they snack on some of the Pocky in the meantime, to which Aiden smiled and nodded in agreement. “I thought you’d never ask~” he said lightly with a chuckle, dipping his head in thanks as he accepted the proffered stick of strawberry cream cookie from her. He nibbled at his stick as she did hers, savoring the lush, fruity flavor of creamy strawberry as he munched on the biscuit. Despite the dreary atmosphere of the Pokémon Center and the storm outside, he had to admit that Valentine’s Day hadn’t been all that bad this year. Of course, he could’ve done without spending so much money on just plushies and candy, but all in all, it turned out quite a bit better than he expected. A look of concern crossed his face, however, when he noticed Fey shifting in her chair, wondering if she’d like to be moved elsewhere so that she wouldn’t be so uncomfortable. She said that she couldn’t relax in the chair, and asked if he could help her onto the bed so that she could have room to stretch. “Sure thing~” Aiden said with a gentle smile as he finished up his stick of Pocky, moving closer towards her as she moved to stand up, “Here.” He reached an arm out to drape around her shoulders so she could lean onto him for support, gently guiding her towards the bed nearby so that she could move along with him without agitating her injured leg too much. Thalia padded alongside them, keeping her distance a bit so that she wouldn’t get in the way. Once they were close enough to the bedside, Aiden slowly released his hold on her so she could lay or sit down as she wanted. Reaching down, he helped her lift her injured leg onto the bed as well, using a gentle touch as to not disturb the wrappings around it or cause any pain. Once Fey was situated onto the bed, Aiden moved back to the wheelchair, picking up the plushies in his arms and carrying them over. With a warm smile, he situated them on the bed so that they would be well within snuggling range without being in the way too much. “That better?” he asked, checking to make sure that she was comfortable enough as he moved to seat himself towards the edge of the bed. He noticed Thalia glancing up towards them, the Sylveon looking like she wanted to join them on the bed but not wanting to intrude too much. ” C’mere Thalia~” he said with a smile, holding his arms out to her. The Sylveon didn’t need to be told twice as she leapt into Aiden’s arms. Giving him a small smile, she gently nuzzled his cheek as she wrapped her feelers around his neck. The blonde smiled back, scratching Thalia behind the ears before gently setting her down on top of the bedcover. ” Go ahead and make yourself comfortable~” he encouraged with a nod. The Sylveon gave a soft smile and a nod, carefully padding across the covers as she curled up in a comfortable position next to Fey. Aria gave a small smile as she felt Nyomii start to relax while she gently pet her, the Espeon taking deep breaths to calm herself down. As a medical expert and a nurse’s assistant, Aria had experience with many different cases of Pokemon who were abused by their trainers. And it was much worse if the Pokemon in question was still just a child… Aria just couldn’t stand the idea of a child being abused, whether they were human, Pokemon, or otherwise, and seeing River just trembling in fright and being lectured for something that wasn’t technically her fault had just struck a chord in the Delphox. She listened as Ario explained himself, giving a nod of understanding in return as Nyomii apologized for her outburst.” I’m sorry, Ario… I didn’t mean to act so harsh towards you, and I can understand where you’re coming from. It’s just that child abuse is a very… sensitive area for Mimi and I, and no one deserves that kind of treatment, Pokemon or not…”she said as she gave him a sympathetic look and sighed softly,” I know what it’s like to be abandoned by someone whom you thought cared for you… My old trainer simply handed me over to Nurse Joy here in Violet City many years ago when he came to Johto, and then he just left without a word… He didn’t tell me where he was going, why he was leaving me… He didn’t even say goodbye… He left me behind just like that, and I still feel to this day that it was my fault that he didn’t want me anymore… Seeing River so terrified like that, it just struck a chord in me and I did what any parent would do to defend a hurt child… Once again, I’m sorry for being so harsh to you, Ario, I truly don’t want any bad blood between us just because of arguments like this… If there’s anyone who’s really at fault for this, it’s that ‘Septy’ character for mistreating River like he did.” Aria swore that if she ever had the chance to meet ‘Septy’, she was going to give him hell for what he did to poor little River. Nonetheless, she kept petting Nyomii to help keep her Espeon friend calm, watching the conversation between the two trainers as Gio insisted that October was more than capable of taking on the Gym leader since she had indeed survived the ball. The ball… even the mere mention of it sent shivers down Aria’s spine as she recalled the terrible experiences she, Nyomii, and Ario had gone through during their time there. The fact that she had been turned against her own trainer like that, and hadn’t been able to do anything about it, that she could only watch from within her own subconscious as her body was controlled on someone else’s whim… It was just an experience that she never wanted to have to go through again, and she truly hoped that Raphiel got what he deserved since they hadn’t gotten the chance to finish him off with the other guests. She occasionally found herself clutching at her arm every now and then whenever she had nightmares about some wretched ghost biting it off, as if she was making sure that it was truly still there. Even though she was trying her best to move on with her life, to enjoy her travels with Aiden and his friends, the horrors of the ball still lingered fresh in her mind like a persistent shadow. Gio then suggested that October could always battle him for a warm-up before taking on Falkner, though Aria felt that it wouldn’t be a very fair match since Ario was quite strong as it was, and Gio already had one Gym badge while October had none. October insisted that she wasn’t scared and that she could take on Falkner, politely refusing Gio’s battle offer since it wouldn’t be fair since he already had a badge. She could still sense October’s nervousness about taking on the Gym leader, but she truly hoped that the girl would power through her nerves and go through with it. The Delphox watched as the girl carefully took River into her arms, saying that she was going to go as she took her leave of the Center and headed for the Gym with Kiru eagerly following after. Aria gave a small smile at that, even though she was still concerned that the girl might end up backing out when she reached the Gym. Not that she could blame October… the very first Gym battle was quite intimidating for most trainers who were starting for the first time. Aria glanced over towards Gio, giving him a small smile and nodding.” You should go with her. I know she’s still very nervous about facing her very first Gym battle, but I know for certain that she’s capable of pulling it off~ And she could certainly use some moral support, just so that she wouldn’t feel so inclined to back out before she even steps into the Gym,”she encouraged the boy,” Perhaps Mimi and I will come along as well to cheer on October while she battles Falkner~ Arceus knows the girl needs all of the moral support she can get if she’s going to pull through this!”She figured that since Aiden and Fey would likely be preoccupied for a while, perhaps she and Nyomii along with Gio and Ario could help October with getting her first Gym badge while Fey was recovering. That way that when it would come time for them to move on to Azalea Town, they wouldn’t have to worry about leaving anyone behind, especially October.✦ ✦

October decided she was going to head back, but she didn't want to cross paths with a certain trainer. She guessed she could go to the school and hide out for a bit. She sighed and turned to make her way to the school,why was going into the gym so hard.
"Chu!" Kiru called up tugging at her pant leg, he shook his head pleading for her to go. "Pichu chu chu chu pichu chupi!" (don't run away please please please October. I can't take it anymore, why are you scared? is it the scary party? you meanie brother? )) He tugged trying to pull his trainer back into the gyms direction his ear drooped a little when he caught her eyes. "pii pichu chuu..." (this isn't like that. please we all worked so hard...please) "Kiru? " She looked down as the little pichu clung to her tugging. She didn't understand him but she knew he wanted her to go in. Thoughts of how she had battled int the ball, and even Kiru's wounds made he shake her head. "I'm sorry I...we can try tomorrow" She held a confused and worried River closer. Kiru jumped up knocking down two pokeball from her belt and releasing a serious looking togetic and cyndaquil. Kiru signaled to them. "It's not just me. They want to battle too."The other two pokemon nodded.
October knelt down to the them, it's true they had been training even after the horror show. But she felt so unsure. "C'mon guys lets go it's cold out." As she made her way back up, Quil moved up in front of her and started to glow. She hadn't seen this since Tori had been a togepi. Quil from grew and when the light disappeared he was no longer a cyndaquil. The quilava's flames appeared ad he smirked up at his trainer. "lavaaa quilava" (Not so cold now. Right?) He smiled softly at the new pokemon in Octobers arm who had snuggled itself closer to the girl.
Tori moved to block her path though chuckling. Kiru giggled too moving closer to the quilava and pretenting to warm his paws on the fire types flame. River, though still a bit afraid, enjoyed the heat and gave a small smile. "..warm.." October couldn't believe this, she was getting bullied by her pokemon.

Natalia chuckled as Aiden all too happily accepted the proffered Pocky, and a moment of silence passed between them as they each munched on their own bit of candy. She would have enjoyed it more, but her legs were just aching from being in the same position for so long, and she couldn't help but shift uncomfortably. Still, no matter how much she shifted, she just couldn't get comfortable in the chair, eventually bailing out and asking Aiden to help her move to the bed instead. She was supposed to be released tomorrow, surely she could get out of the chair for a bit with help. Thankfully Aiden agreed to help her out and held an arm out for support, and she gently leaned on him as she got out of the chair, hopping a bit over to the bed and clearly favoring her good leg, but she made it.
Natalia slowly sat down, her body screaming at her for putting it in the exact same position it had been in for the last few days, but with Aiden's help she was able to lift her legs onto the bed and stretch out. The tension eased in her muscles, and Natalia gave a quiet sigh of relief, closing her eyes. "Arceus I feel so helpless.... Like some kind of cripple." Natalia chuckled humorlessly, then noticed Aiden transferring her plushies over onto the bed as well. She felt like a child again, her mother tucking her in and telling stories with her stuffed pokemon until she fell asleep. Her mother always kissed her forehead before wishing her goodnight too.... What if Aiden did that...? Natalia blushed at the ridiculous thought and looked up to the ceiling, trying not to let her embarrassment show when Aiden asked if this was better for her. "Mhm...." She nodded, resisting the urge to cuddle up with her Sylveon plush; it would only encourage Aiden's plushie manipulation. He busied himself with Thalia for now though, calling her up to join them and make herself comfortable, which the Sylveon didn't hesitate to do, nuzzling Aiden before curling up next to Natalia. Well Natalia might have been able to resist the plushies, but she couldn't resist the sweet Sylveon sleeping next to her. Natalia wrapped her arms around Thalia and pulled her close, resting next to her and closing her eyes. "Hey Aiden.... I was wondering... What's Valentines Day like back at your home? How's it different from here...?" She asked curiously, though she quickly retracted somewhat, knowing it was a sensitive subject for him. “I-I mean, if you don't want to talk about it I understand but.... I'd like to hear about it....” She said quietly, taking another stick of pocky and handing it to him since he'd finished the last one and taking another one for herself, nibbling at the end.
Nyomii nodded in confirmation at Aria's explanation. Child abuse was a touchy subject for the two of them, Nyomii since she'd worked with children her whole life practically, Aria because she was just a motherly pokemon, not to mention her own abandonment as a young pokemon herself. Nyomii was a bit shocked at this development. "I didn't know that about you Ari... I'm so sorry." Nyomii commented soberly. The subject soon changed as October took her leave to possibly challenge Falkner, moving on to better and brighter things. Aria insisted that Gio should go cheer her on, just be there for moral support, since Aceus knows the girl was struggling with her self confidence. "I'd love to go cheer her on Ari~ We should all go I think. I bet she'd love it." Nyomii smiled, tail swaying happily at the thought.

✦ ✦Aiden gave a wide, goofy smile as he heard Fey’s chuckle as he gladly accepted the proffered stick of Pocky she was holding out to him, munching on it happily as he savored the delicious flavor of sweet, creamy strawberry. The room fell silent for a brief moment as they each munched away at their individual stick of Pocky, Aiden glancing out towards the window for a fraction of a second to see that the rain had indeed started to let up a little. Returning his attention towards Fey again, he noticed the way she shifted about uncomfortably in her chair. She was going to be released tomorrow, since her leg would have been fully recovered by then and she would be able to walk on her own. Hopefully Gio and October would be prepared to leave by then, since they had all planned to head out for Azalea Town as soon as Fey had completely recovered. Aiden did appreciate that they were willing to stick around in spite of the wait, it was one of the many ways how he could tell friends from true friends. Nonetheless, he focused back to the matter at hand as Fey complained that she couldn’t get comfortable in the chair, and asked him to help her to the bed so that she could stretch out and relax. Being the helpful guy that he was, Aiden gladly agreed, moving to Fey’s side as she began to lift herself off of the chair, holding an arm out towards her to help support her as she leaned against him. Taking slow, steady steps, the two of them made their way over towards the bed, Aiden carefully timing his pace with Fey’s hops as she favored her good leg. Sure enough, they made it over to the bed without trouble, and Aiden let her slide off of him as she took a seat on the bed. He then reached his hands over and helped her lift her legs up over the edge of the bed, using a delicate touch to avoid aggravating her injury as he helped her get settled in. Once Fey was comfortable enough and had relaxed, Aiden then went to retrieve the plushies from the chair and brought them over. He gave a small smile at Fey’s comment about feeling so helpless, as if she were some sort of cripple. ” Don’t dwell on that too much, Fey~ You’ll be up and walking again come tomorrow, and we’ll be on our way to Azalea before you know it,” he said in return with a soft chuckle, remaining ever so optimistic as usual as he set up the plushies around her on the bed, ” Besides, you only feel helpless if you let something like this dampen your spirits, I’m sure there are plenty of crippled people out there who have taken their own handicaps in stride and live normal, healthy lives~” If anything, at least she wouldn’t have to be stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of her life, she was lucky that the chandelier hadn’t caused much worse damage to her leg than it had. After transferring the last of the stuffed toys over, he moved to seat himself at the edge of the bed next to her, a small smile crossing his face when he noticed she was blushing again. He was tempted to tell her that her secret love of stuffed toys would be kept safe with him, but instead settled for asking if this was better as he sat down next to her on the bed. Fey simply hummed in response and nodded, Aiden giving a small smile in return before he invited Thalia to join them on the bed. The Sylveon was quick to leap into his arms upon receiving the invitation, affectionately nuzzling him before moving over to curl up next to Fey and resting her little head on the covers. Aiden smiled as Fey wrapped an arm around Thalia and held her close, the Sylveon adjusting her position as she gently rested her head against the girl’s chest and closed her eyes. The blonde-haired trainer leaned lightly against the headboard of the bed, shifting himself into a more comfortable position as the three of them lay with each other. Fey spoke up again, saying that she was wondering what Valentine’s Day was like where he was from, and asked how it was different from here. However, she quickly added afterwards that he didn’t have to share if he didn’t want to, but she was truly quite curious to know. ” No worries, Fey, I wouldn’t mind sharing a bit of story with you at all~” he answered with a chuckle, smiling gently towards her, ” It doesn’t really bother me that much nowadays, it was quite a long while ago, really~” Talking about his past tended to be a bit of a sensitive subject for him, but he didn’t mind sharing the good memories that much over having to recount the bad ones. Folding his arms across his lap, occasionally taking a bite or two of the Pocky stick he was finishing up, Aiden gazed towards the rain-spattered window on the adjacent wall as he spoke. ” Back on my home of Five Island, Valentine’s Day wasn’t a holiday that was celebrated just between couples alone… It was a grand, elaborate annual ceremony that everyone within our small community got involved in, adults and children alike… We called it the Anniversary of Amity,” he explained, using the best story-telling voice he could muster, ” The entire town would be decorated from roof to roof with sparkling little lights, festive torches, bright colored streamers, the whole works… We would all get together to hold a large potluck banquet, all of the adults would cook and bring their own dishes to share with everyone. My mom would make her special meatballs that I always looked forward to whenever Valentine’s Day Meanwhile, us kids would go out into the meadows to gather flowers for décor and as gifts, as well as putting together the colorful paper lanterns that would be used later that night as the grand finale that we called ‘The Soaring Lights’. Everyone on Five Island got involved with preparing the festival during the day, and when the sun started to set on the horizon, painting the sky and sea with its dusky hues… that was when the celebration really started.” A soft smile crept its way onto Aiden’s lips as he recounted the details, pausing momentarily to gratefully accept the next Pocky stick she was handing to him since he had finished with his own by then. ” When the night came, we would all reconvene at the prepared banquet and dine together like one huge family, eating, drinking, laughing, and generally having a good time in each other’s company… And when dinner was finished, everyone would find themselves a partner as we danced along underneath the light of the moon while local musicians provided music for the event. Some of us would exchange gifts with one another, but for us, gifts weren’t as important as the connections we all felt between ourselves, not just as couples, but as friends and as proud members of the Five Island community as a whole when we came together on a holiday like this,” he went on, his eyes growing cloudy as nostalgia wrapped him up like a thick, warm blanket, ” And as the festival wound down towards the midnight hour, everyone would gather together in the meadow, where we would light the little candles of the paper lanterns the children had made and release them all into the skies at once for The Soaring Lights finale… It’s truly a beautiful sight, watching the paper lanterns ascend into the night skies, the candles making them glow brightly in prismic colors as they floated high above the sea… I would often watch them until they drifted up high enough to almost blend in with the stars of the midnight beyond… Maybe you would’ve loved it too, Fey, if you had lived there as well in those times…” Aiden gave a soft sigh as he finished, turning over slightly on his side to look towards Fey as she was listening and nibbling on her own stick of Pocky. ” You know, Fey, I was thinking… maybe there’s another way that we can share the Pocky together, it’s… actually quite interesting from what I’ve gathered,” he suggested, a small smile and a thoughtful look on his face, ” Think of it as like a game of sorts, we each hold the opposite ends of a single stick of Pocky in each of our mouths, and we both eat our way towards the middle~ We have to be careful not to break it though~” He had seen a lot of couples do this with Pocky in recent times, apparently the ‘Pocky Game’ as it was often referred to was quite common around these parts. ” Would you perhaps be interested in… trying it with me?” he asked, a tinge of nervousness in his voice as he voiced the question. It was probably a very weird question to ask, and he wouldn’t blame her at all if she refused the offer. After listening to Ario’s explanation, Aria felt that it would only be fair to apologize to him for her harsh demeanor towards him, and explained her reasons as well. Child abuse was a very touchy subject, both for herself because of her motherly tendencies and the fact that she too was abandoned when she had been young herself, and for Nyomii because the Espeon had been working with children for as long as she could remember as a teacher’s assistant. Aria encouraged Gio to go after her and help her out, be there for moral support and to make sure that October wouldn’t end up chickening out at the last minute. Heavens knows that girl needed all of the support she could get if she was going to be able to even step foot into the Gym. The Delphox suggested that she and Nyomii could accompany them as well to help cheer October on, and provide extra support for the girl because it was what she desperately needed right now. Nyomii agreed with the proposal, saying that they should all go and that October would surely love to have them to back her up.” It’s settled then, let’s go accompany our dear October to the Gym then, shall we?”Aria said with a warm smile when it seemed that they had reached a unanimous agreement,” We should move quickly though, I can already smell the doubt coming off of her from a mile away!”Clutching the medkit in one hand, Aria reached a hand out towards the coat rack nearby and grabbed an umbrella off of it using telekinesis. It sounded like the rain was starting to let up, but the Delphox figured it would be best to take precautions just in case.” Shall we, Mimi?”she asked, winking knowingly towards her Espeon friend and gesturing for her and the others to come along as the Delphox moved to exit the Pokemon Center in pursuit of October. Sure enough, the girl was just outside the entrance of the Gym, though she was clearly hesitant to enter even as her Pokemon were trying to encourage her to go inside. October was thinking of turning back and going to hide out at the Trainer’s School in hopes of avoiding Gio, that she would try the Gym tomorrow. Her Pokemon seemed persistent on not letting her back out so easily, however, the girl’s Cyndaquil now turned Quilava and her Togetic blocked her path while Kiru and River warmed themselves over the Quilava’s flames.” There you are, dear, I had a feeling you would be here,”chimed Aria as she approached them, giving a small, amused chuckle at the scene before her.” Still scared about taking on the Gym? I don’t blame you in the least, sweetie, the first Gym battle is always one of the most daunting experiences for any beginning trainer, it’s something I’ve seen many times in the years I’ve worked at the Pokemon Center,”the Delphox said, giving October a sympathetic smile,” But your Pokemon are prepared to battle for you, surely they wouldn’t be pushing you go inside if they weren’t confident in their own abilities now, would they?” Her face softening, Aria took a step closer to the girl, giving her a reassuring smile.” I know that you can do this, October… All we’re asking is for you to just try, your Pokemon have been working very hard for your sake, after all,”she spoke up, reaching out and gently patting the girl on the shoulder,” Think of it this way… You survived through that horrible experience at the ball, you fought against enemies that were tougher than most that you will ever face in your lifetime, and you sought to continue pressing forward in a situation where most others would have backed out or given up… Do you really want to prove for certain, after all that you’ve been through, that you ARE as strong as your brother, perhaps even stronger? Then go inside that Gym and give Falkner a run for his money~ I know you’re nervous, dearie, but Mimi and I are willing to accompany you inside if that will help to put you at ease. I promise that we’ll be with you every step of the way, no matter what, you can count on us to be there to support you~”✦ ✦

October sighed giving in, her pokemon weren't going to budge. Even more so at Aria's words, she watched the three puff out their chests. She knew the fox pokemon was was right, they really wouldn't be pushing her. It wasn't exactly her brother she wanted to best, though that would be a nice bonus, no who really wanted to catch up to was a certain Lucario trainer she had grown fond of. "alright, let's do this." With those words her pokemon cheered, Kiru even jumped up to high five Tori. "Could you please watch River for me?" She placed River next to Aria and Nyomii. The Riolu was quick to shuffle closer to the two familiar faces, trying to hide between the two.Taking a step back towards the door to the gym she froze as she was about to push the doors and looked back. " b-but Aria, what if I mess up? M-maybe I can try tommor-woah!" Before she could finish her pokemon had given her a small push into the gym. "Thank you miss Aria"Kiru looked back to his friends and smiled. And looked over as Tori and Quil gave a small push to October into the door. "It's the only way she was gonna go in."

Natalia gave Aiden a gentle smile at Aiden's reassurences. So sweet, so kind.... She really didn't deserve it and yet she couldn't help but indulge in his kindness. Besides, putting everything into perspective, Aiden made a good point of the fact her disability was only temporary, while some had to suffer through it their whole lives. "Oh Arceus.... Don't even talk about it. I couldn't imagine being in that horrid thing for the rest of my life." Natalia chuckled sadly and shuddered. She knew Aiden was just trying to be optimistic by suggesting some cripples lived normal healthy lives, but she may as well be a sitting Ducklett for Void if she was permanently paralyzed, and the thought was not pleasant.
Desperate to change the subject, Natalia asked Aiden about Valentines day for his home town, since earlier he'd mentioned that it was different here than it was there. She was honestly curious, but she knew home was a touchy subject for him, so she quickly insisted that it wasn't a big deal if he didn't want to talk about it, though Aiden seemed surprisingly comfortable talking about it. Though the reason for that seemed to be just because it was her asking.... Natalia hid her face behind Thalia as best she could, hiding a light blush before Aiden continued with his story. Natalia closed her eyes and listened as he spoke of the Anniversary of Amity, where the town would be decorated in festivity, a potluck banquet, how children would gather flowers for gifts and put together colorful paper lanterns. Natalia envisioned it all, and it was beautiful. A pause in the story allowed Natalia to hand Aiden another pocky stick and begin munching on another herself before he continued.
He described how the festival came alive at night, how the feast began and everyone ate, drank, and laughed together, dancing around by the light of the moon. Natalia could see it, feel it, the music, the dancing, the happy sounds of merriment, the soaring lights sailing into the sky at the stroke of midnight, floating away to add to the stars in the sky. Natalia smiled as Aiden suggested she would have liked it. "I would have loved it... Do they still hold the festival there...?" She asked curiously. From the way he had worded it, 'in those times', he made it sound like it was a tradition that no longer occurred.
Natalia nibbled thoughtfully at her pocky. Some day she wanted to go visit the sevii islands. Maybe she could add it to her bucket list. Another brief moment of quiet passed as they reveled in the pleasant memories, then Aiden spoke up once more, suggesting another, interesting way to share the pocky. Natalia glanced at Aiden curiously, thinking it over and wondering what he could possibly have in mind. Another way of sharing the pocky? Natalia didn't get why they would go about it any differently than they were. However, Aiden started to explain, and Natalia understood. It was a game of sorts, where they ate their way towards the middle of a pocky stick, trying not to break it as they did so, but that meant.... "Er.... That sounds kind of more like a game for couples though don't you think...?" Natalia stated lamely, though as Aiden asked if she would be interested in playing with him, she hesitated and eventually gave in. “W-well alright, I suppose it couldn't hurt to try.... It does sound fun...” She admitted, sitting up carefully as to not disturb Thalia before finishing her pocky off and bringing out a fresh stick for them to try the game with, but only once Aiden finished his.
Nyomii smiled at Aria as the Delphox thanked her for the sentiment. "But of course~" She bowed her head lightly. It was for the best that no one dwell on the past, it was the future they needed to look forward to. Aria would be very happy accompanying Aiden and his team, Nyomii was sure of it. And speaking of the future, they needed to go cheer on October! Nyomii gave a affirmative nod and smile as Aria suggested the matter seemed settled, ushering them both out the door quickly before October could change her mind. Nyomii didn't need to be told twice; the rain had cleared up a bit and Aria had an umbrella just in case, and the two rushed out of the pokemon center, chuckling in an amused tone as Aria suggested smelling October's doubt from a mile away. "Haha~ Oh but can you really blame the poor dear? The first gym battle is always the hardest for every trainer." Nyomii suggested sagely.
Nevertheless they caught up quickly with October, who was now being corralled by her pokemon back towards the gym. Nyomii let Aria speak her peace, nodding in agreement all the way. "She's right you know~ We've lived in Violet for so long now, if anyone would know who has the potential to take on Falkner and win, it would be locals like us~ I've seen plenty of trainers with who don't even have half the strength or heart that you and your pokemon do. You've got this challenge in the bag dearie, you just need to trust in your pokemon and everything will always turn out alright. And besides, just like Ari said, we're going to be rooting for you every step of the way!" Nyomii gave a kind, encouraging smile to the girl. Seeming convinced finally, October started towards the Gym, placing River under their care and asking them to watch over her. "No problem sweetie, we'll take good care of her. You go in there and do your best alright?" Nyomii encouraged, though it seemed October kept hesitating at the doors of the gym until Tori and Quil gave her a much needed friendly shove. Nyomii giggled at the sight, nodding in agreement with Kiru as he suggested it was the only way October would go in. He was probably right too.

✦ ✦Aiden smiled warmly back at Fey as she smiled gently at his attempt to reassure her. All things considered, she was lucky that her leg would heal within the week rather than not at all, and she would be up and walking again when tomorrow rolled around. He made a point of letting her know that her disability was only temporary, while others had to deal with being crippled their whole lives. A soft smile crossed his lips as she told him to not remind her of that, that she could not even begin to imagine having to live her whole life trapped in that terrible chair as she chuckled sadly and shivered. ” Heh, sorry about that,” he apologized with a nod and a soft chuckle. He probably wasn’t helping that much with his comment about how there were some disabled people who were capable of living perfectly normal lives, but he was just trying to be optimistic. ” No worries though, you’ll be up and at ‘em when tomorrow rolls around~” he assured with a warm smile, ” I’m sure the sense of freedom that will come along with being able to walk again will be amazing after such a long wait~” Nonetheless, he was glad for a change of subject as Fey asked him what Valentine’s Day was like back in his hometown of Five Island. No doubt she was curious about it since he had mentioned earlier that the way he had celebrated the day back home was different than it was around here. He smiled as she quickly added that he didn’t have to talk about it if he didn’t want to, likely since talking about his home was a sensitive subject for him. Aiden insisted that he would gladly tell her, since it didn’t really bother him that much as opposed to talking about other things involving his home. He found that talking about things that happened in the past wasn’t as difficult as it would usually be, as long as he had good memories associated with such events. Still, he was thankful and glad that Fey had been so considerate, and he chuckled softly as she hid her face behind Thalia. The Sylveon blinked a little in confusion at what was going on, but otherwise said nothing and listened as Aiden launched into the story about the Anniversary of Amity with rapt attention. Using the best story-telling voice that he could muster, Aiden leaned back against the pillow behind him as he spoke of the festival, how the town came alive with festive decorations, how the adults would prepare food for the potluck banquet, how the children would gather flowers from the meadow and craft the colorful little paper lanterns for The Soaring Lights… As he told the story, it felt as though he was back home again, watching in anticipation while his mother made her famous special homemade meatballs that she would serve every year at the celebration. He remembered laughing and running about in the meadows as the children challenged each other to a contest to see who could pick the most flowers… he could feel the familiar touch of the thin paper in his hands as he busily helped craft the paper lanterns for the lights… There was a brief lull in the story as he finished up his stick of Pocky and accepted the new one Fey was holding out to him, picking up on the tale again without a hitch. He described how the festival would burst into liveliness come nighttime, how everyone gathered together at the banquet and shared food and drink while mingling and laughing, as if they were all one big happy family. After the feast ended, the whole town would break out into dance as music filled the air, twirling, laughing, and rollicking together while the moon smiled upon them from above. And as the festival began to wound down come midnight, the citizens would gather together in the field, light the little candles inside the paper lanterns the children had made, and release them all into the night sky. Aiden smiled fondly at the memory as he remembered that he would watch the lights go until they seemed almost indistinguishable from the stars that decorated the inky canvas of the midnight skies. He glanced over towards Fey, seeing the smile on her face as he suggested that she would’ve loved it. She agreed, saying that she would’ve indeed loved it and asking if they still held the festival there. ” No… I doubt that they’ve held the festival for a long while now… Five Island was completely empty the last time I remember seeing it,” he answered, a saddened look in his eyes as he spoke, ” Perhaps the Anniversary of Amity will come back again in the near future, but I don’t think it’ll be celebrated anytime soon at this point in time…” He sighed softly, trying not to think too much about how everyone and anyone he’d known back on Five Island had been taken away when Team Void had stormed the town. He took a deep breath, and mustered a small smile as he nodded to Fey. ” But, if perhaps Five Island will return to celebrating the Anniversary of Amity, I’d love to take you there with me someday to partake in the festival~” he added, trying to make light of it as best he could. Nevertheless, the topic shifted to something different as Aiden suggested that there was a more interesting way they could share the Pocky. He noticed Fey looking at him curiously, and he went on to explain the rules of the game. They would each take opposite ends of a single stick of Pocky into their mouths, and then eat towards the center while trying not to break it. Fey seemed hesitant, stating that it sounded like a game that would be played between couples, though when he asked if she might be interested in playing it with him, she hesitated for a moment. She finally said that it probably wouldn’t hurt to try, and that it sounded like fun. ” I’m sure it is~” Aiden agreed with a smile, finishing up his own stick of Pocky as Fey carefully sat herself up, being mindful of Thalia since the Sylveon was curled up next to her. Once they had both finished their respective sticks, Fey brought out a fresh one so that they could start. Aiden leaned in slowly and grabbed onto one end of the stick with his mouth, waiting patiently until Fey got in position before starting to munch his way towards the center. It was probably a good thing that this was going on a private, because now that Aiden thought about it, this would look pretty intimate to anyone else who happened to be watching. Aria smiled as Nyomii smiled and bowed her head at her gratitude for the Espeon’s sentiment. It wasn’t good for anyone to dwell too much on what has long since passed when they should be pushing onwards for a better and brighter future. Nurse Joy had taught the Delphox that much in the years she’d spent as the nurse’s assistant, and Aria knew that she would be happy as a member of Aiden’s team. She had chosen him to become her new trainer for good reason, after all, her instincts and intuition had never failed her thus far. And speaking of future, they needed to go cheer on October and try to convince her to take on the Gym. Arceus knows that the girl would need all of the moral support she could get, or else she would end up trying to put off the battle for another day. Aria knew that October wanted to accompany her friends to Azalea, but she couldn’t leave Violet just yet until she got the badge from Falkner. When it seemed that everyone was in agreement, she ushered them all out so that they could hopefully catch the girl before she reneged on the challenge. The rain appeared to have stopped a bit, but that didn’t stop Aria from grabbing an umbrella on their way out just in case as she clutched the medkit in the other hand. The Delphox grinned as Nyomii chuckled in response to her comment about being able to smell the girl’s doubt from a mile away, saying that she couldn’t blame October because the first Gym was always the toughest milestone for any beginning trainer to overcome. In any case, it didn’t take long for them to catch up to October, the girl currently in the midst of being pushed by her Pokemon back towards the Gym. Aria stepped in and gave the girl a nice little pep talk, assuring her that she had everything she needed to win this fight, and that her Pokemon were confident in their abilities to do well in this fight. She understood that October was nervous, she had seen many trainers come through this city before who had experienced the same thing, and she understood that taking on the first Gym was a truly daunting experience for any new trainer. But she knew well enough that the girl would be able to pull this off. Nyomii stepped in after Aria had finished her little soliloquy, agreeing with what the Delphox had said, saying that the two of them had been locals of Violet for several years, and that they knew anyone who had potential to take on Falkner and win. The Espeon explained that she had seen trainers come through here that didn’t have half the heart or strength to pull off such a feat like October and her Pokemon, and that she had this challenge in the bag as long as she held faith for herself and her Pokemon. And of course, Aria and Nyomii would be rooting for her all the way as they gave her encouraging smiles. The Delphox smiled as October finally seemed convinced, her Pokemon cheering as she said the words that they had been waiting to hear.” That’s the spirit~”Aria chimed brightly with a wide grin. She watched as October gently placed River down onto the ground next to them, asking them to watch over her while she battled Falkner.” Of course, sweetie~ We’ll be glad to look after the little dear for you~”she responded happily with a nod, glancing down as River shuffled closer to them and tried to hide between the two,” Do your best in there, alright? We’ll be cheering on you from the sidelines~”She smiled proudly as October headed for the doors, though the girl hesitated just as she was about to open them. She looked back, asking what would happen if she messed up, and that maybe she could try tomorrow, but was interrupted midsentence as Tori and Quil gave her a much needed friendly push into the Gym.” Oh nonsense, just try your absolute best and I’m sure you’ll do fine~ Trust us on this one~”Aria called out to her, chuckling softly as October was pushed into the Gym by her Pokemon. The Delphox glanced towards Kiru as she thanked them for helping to convince October to take on the Gym, saying that it was the only other way she would’ve gone in otherwise.” Our pleasure, Kiru~ Just us friends looking out for friends~ Now get in there and show ‘em what you’re made of, champ~”chimed Aria with a toothy grin. She watched as October and her Pokemon disappeared behind the doors of the Gym, smiling as she turned to glance down at River.” Are you cold, sweetie?”she asked, reaching back and pulling her stick out of her tail. The friction caused by the action caused a spark and allowed the end of the twig to ignite, and Aria carefully held it out towards the Riolu so she could warm herself up. The Delphox glanced skywards, before looking back towards Nyomii and nodding.” We should probably head somewhere indoors, Mimi. The rain may have stopped for now, but there’s no telling if it might come back. I wouldn’t want our dear little River to catch a cold or something else equally nasty if we’re caught in the middle of bad weather,”she suggested, twirling the folded up umbrella she had in her hand that she had picked up on the way out of the Center. The rain had stopped for now, but the skies were still quite gray and stormy. Arceus knows when the downpour may start up again, and Aria would prefer that they not be caught in the middle of it if it did happen.✦ ✦
