But on this field, here, now, everything existed to either entertain or teach Horace. But he would allow the other man his grandiose illusions, although the idea that one man was inherently better than another rubbed him the wrong way. The punch, however, was wholly unexpected - something crude for such a stuck-up[ man. Horace reeled back, lights flashing before his eyes. "Now that's more like it," he smirked. His hand came up to feel his jaw gingerly. Horace touched his tekkos together and a spark flared out and died. He heard Jannisari's hissed 'no', before dropping into a horse stance. "Can you do it again?" HP: 7/40 DMG: failureee CHG: 0/3

Lex smirked, shaking his head. Horace was too much - he just asked for it. Lex almost felt sorry for the boy; he was like a kicked chihuahua that kept coming back just to get kicked in the head again. Yapping included.
"As you wish - I invited you, after all, and it would be quite rude of me to not aim to please." He melodiously smarmed, cocking the winged hammer of the pistol back as if he were locking a bullet into the chamber.
< Send this whelp running home. I'm above fighting something so weak. >
Lex could only oblige the gryphon, taking close range aim at Horace's stomach and pulling the trigger. A high soprano note and a flash of gold leaped from the gilded barrel, screaming into the other Hunter and shattering his shield, barreling further until fizzling out once it had thrown Horace back a few feet.
Regal dissipated into his pen form, sitting neatly in Lex's discarded jacket pocket. The Life had a smug smile plastered on his features as he wiped the dust from his shoulders with a content sigh. "Let this be a lesson, Mr. Nokoni - do not tangle the wrong girl's hair."

Horace barely restrained himself from rolling his eyes. Lex was an a*****e, barely fighting and haughty to a fault. There was no way he was going to win this spar, but Horace at least learned that Lex wasn't a fun sparring partner. He was boring until the very end and a kind of arrogant that wasn't even fun to poke it. But it made Horace want to beat him. Eventually. To grind that smirk beneath his heel. His grin flickered as the bullet hit, shattering his shield and throwing him dizzily back. His hand flew out, grabbing onto a training dummy for balance. Pain sang through his muscles, a blinding melody that made it hard to focus on Lex. In that moment, he knew that if the wards didn't exist, he would be dead. The thought caused the corner of his mouth to c**k back up in a smile. The smile turned confused at Lex's next words. "Girl?" Horace looked Lex over very, very slowly - partly to be insulting and partly because he was far too dizzy to do it quickly. "You don't look like a girl...." Then he shrugged.

Shrugging his jacket on, Lex gave Horace a pointed look. So people didn't know? Hm. He supposed he liked that, but...
Well, if it weren't public now, there'd be some huge Twitter scandal over it. Ugh, social media. "I'm not the only Jamil on this island, though she goes by a different surname. Think hard, you'll find the similarities."
Then Lex walked away, humming a low tune that sounded oddly like Amazing Grace to himself. Because being vague and mysterious was cool.
