Just the thought of the people who had bragged to his face was enough to work him up to a deep rage, gripping the handle tighter, more focused.
"Trial and error mostly." he said. "Plus like, the weapon learns you as much as you learn it. He grew over time and as he did came the ability to ******** wield him." Flattery evidently worked on him however as he relaxed back into the smug posture from before, the tension going out of his arms. "Wisnae easy and I'm still far from as good as I could be at it. "
Still, when he leapt to swing again, it was with a little more confidence than it had been before.

"I like honesty," said Chance lightly. "Honesty is much more preferable to dishonesty. Really, I've never seen the point in pretending or pussyfooting around things, or tiptoeing around things, or trying to sugarcoat things. I find just saying things that you want to say is much easier to handle."
He made a face. "Too much lying or facades always leads to too many complications, and that's something I don't really fancy. Complications are too messy, and so is arrogance."
The axe swung towards Chance once more, a hit that made him jump backwards, staggering beneath the force of it. He gasped out a breath, coughing, and tried to straighten his posture back up enough so that he could string another arrow.
"Hopefully my trial and error with Asher here isn't too bad," he said, smiling. "You've been working with yours for years, so you can kick a**, whereas I will just struggle along here until I can get better, which I am happy to do."

"Aye man, persistance is always the way to go. The best ******** fighter in the world has failed more times than the lesser fighters have fought at all. You are doing just fine." Rep always enjoyed sparring people who didn't really know him, or at least who hadn't taken umbridge at his comments on twitter yet, it was liberating in a way.
"Just takes time." And this time he managed not to mess up his swing, bringing the weapon down with proper force on the other man's shield. "And I'm always game for a spar whenever you want to practice, real people are so much ******** better than the dummies."
