Dovev did not have long to wait for his client to be ready – a welcome change from his usual clientelle. ”Of course.” he said, having made his own preparations. ”Then. Let us go.”

Dovev knew the desert road well enough – he'd traveled it enough times to know, especially, when he went wrong and when he needed to correct his course. It wasn't hard to lose one's way in the desert, but the road was marked and so he was able to return to it's relative safety from slightly afar. Still, there were some delays and great relief when the city – and its precious oasis - appeared before them...

Irro enjoyed the desert as much as a half pale leafling could, she at least enjoyed the strong presence beside her as they trecked across to the capital city. They didn't talk much but then they didn't need to, she tried to enjoy as much of the sights, smells and sensations and she could between peeks under the veil that kept her from being overly crispy.

"Oh my its beautiful..."

Impressive from a far and promising comfort in opposition to the harsh desert that surrounded the city on all sides. She sighed with happiness. Her future awaited her here, her initial test as a treasure hunter and she was more then ready to seize it. This was how one adventured safely but with determination.

They crossed the threshold and she gazed about her with wonder, it was different from Jatine that was for sure, not nearly as much water but she had known it wouldn't be like her base in Jatine where water was always there to welcome her on the hot afternoons. It had its own amenities though and crowds upon crowds of people as with everywhere. She felt a touch vulnerable and stuck close to Dovev.

"Do you know where the castle is? I would start there."

Dovev wasn't sure about beautiful, but he figured it might be. Danger was everywhere, in both the city and the desert, but it was better hidden in the city. There were many dark alleyways and seemingly friendly faces for danger to hide.

He looked around, keeping close to his employer. ”The castle?” he said, thoughtfully. He checked their map briefly before orienting himself. ”The map says it is this way.” he said, gesturing and carefully leading the way.

Perhaps he was a little excited to see the castle too as it emerged from the jumbled jungle of alleyways and streets, an impressive thing of wood and stone, of royalty and history... a history now undone by the new usurping king. That was of some interest to Dovev, but of more interest to him was the weapons of the guards and the interest of his companion.

”What is there to do at the castle?” Dovev asked, curious.

Irro looked up at the imposing edifice, "Well, if you had a great treasure to keep safe wouldn't you put it in a castle? Thats where I would put it, but I suppose it could be somewhere else, I've followed its story all the way from Tale but all I want to do is look at it to say and to know for myself that I am capable of finding such a thing you know?" She hoped her explanation got hrough to him.

"So I'm going to ask this guard right here."

"Excuse me can you tell me where the great treasure is, you knwo the one that came over on the ship?"

The guard stared at her for amoment seeming shocked. Then he laughed. "Treasure here? No the only "treasure" I know of is in the hands of the monks in Jatine."

"So there is no great heap of gold here?"

"No, for that there would be more guards." He snorted. "We do have a lovely tapestry room though."

She made a face at that, tapestry was a bit of a let down from gold and jewels if she did say so herself.

"Well Dovev, I guess my treasure is not here. Is there something interesting to do in the capital while we are here?"

Dovev listened to the guard's explanation with a straight face: Well of course there would not be treasure in an obvious place, not unless it was being displayed. There was definitely some wealth on display, for sure, but not all of it, and not the treasures that really needed to be kept secret. Dovev usually hid his money in a very efficient way – he invested it in his future, a fancy way of saying that he spent it quickly on necessities or on contacts and only saved money on his person when he had a specific goal in mind, like his sword. But if he needed to save for something bigger, he was sure he would squirrel it away in many hidden locations, where grubby, thieving hands could not reach.

”Hmm?” he looked up at her, briefly distracted by his surroundings and by fantasies of what he could do with such hidden money. Frivolous fantasies. He should not be thinking such things, not when his focus was still needed. ”Well, this one does not know.” he offered an arm politely to the leaf girl, ”But this one thinks that he will find out today.”
