Ems nodded slowly. The pokeball wasn't scary at all; it was comforting, in fact, to know that she could retreat inside. She could still sense all of the sentient beings around her from within the ball, but it was reduced. She could relax inside of the master ball in a way that was impossible outside it.
she reminded Walpurgis. She paused, unsure of where to begin or what to ask. She did not even know if the entire world consisted of only this room, or if there were more surprises in store; larger worlds as the room was compared to her tube, and smaller worlds, as was inside the master ball. Finally, she decided, She could learn the rest as it came.
A scientist was furiously writing Ems's words down on a clipboard. At her query, the scientist cleared his throat and shuffled some papers, nearly dropping them in his rush. Finally he located the proper sheaf, hidden inside a folder that read TOP SECRET. He shuffled over to Walpurgis and surrendered the folder to him. "These are the official orders of what you are to do with M2-SV1," he explained. "Remember, after you are satisfied with her training, you are to retrieve the shadow mew."
Ems cocked her head to one side, picking definitions of various words out of the scientist's brain. She did not understand, though, and this frustrated her. she demanded. is a shadow mew?>

Walpurgis was saved from the monumental task of identifying and explaining everything vital by the scientist. Accepting the papers, he gave a look to Karina - she hadn't mentioned that the mewtwo was to search for Zinnia Hayes' mew. The woman gave a confused shrug - apparently she had missed that, too.
At the mewtwo's question, Walpurgis thought for a moment on how best to phrase his words. "'Shadow Mew' was what Team Rocket called a particular pokemon that one of our former members found and befriended. When the girl left us, she took the mew with her, and our organization wants it back. As a member of Team Rocket, it seems you'll be helping me retrieve the mew." He turned to the scientist and tilted his head just slightly. "I had, however, thought that the Shadow Mew retrieval project was put on hold when none of our best agents were able to get the job done." He didn't need to add that he himself had failed.

"Yes, but that is why we created M2-SV1," the scientist said in a tone that sounded as if he were explaining the obvious. "She is her clone, so she is uniquely equipped to capture the mew. The mew won't be able to simply teleport to escape; M2-SV1 will be able to teleport as well."
Clone? Ems wondered. She forced her way deeper into the scientist's mind and found the definition that she had been looking for. She had been created using this shadow mew's DNA. That meant that they were related by blood... She pushed even deeper, sifting through thoughts and memories all while the human remained unaware. The mewtwo came upon a sudden realization.
Her eyes widened, and she felt something unfamiliar warm a spot deep in her chest. The word sounded nice to her, comforting. She was not all alone in the world, after all; Shadow Mew was just like her.
"Technically speaking, I suppose you could call the shadow mew that..." the scientist said, scribbling down what Ems had said. He was clearly impressed by her knowledge of siblings. "But before you retrieve your... er, sister, you must become stronger. So listen to your trainer here and don't forget you are a member of Team Rocket now. You must obey the commands of Team Rocket, and Team Rocket alone."
Ems's eyes narrowed. She decided that she did not like the scientist at all.

Walpurgis suppressed a sigh - he didn't want to go after Zinnia. The girl had already suffered enough at the hands of Team Rocket, but he knew that, in the grand scheme of things, what he wanted didn't matter. All was for the glory of Team Rocket, as the memos frequently reminded him. Even the happiness of a young girl.
