She wanted to say she wasn't a soldier, and she definitely wasn't a warrior. If she'd learned anything from this entire ordeal, it was that she wasn't made of the stuff to be a part of a war. It was bigger than her, and she might now die for something she barely had any part in. All she'd wanted was to be a hero - now, she would've given anything to go back to being the girl with lackluster friends and an amazing family.
Amphitrite's smile was easier as he talked to her like a person, not like a sympathetic party to a prisoner. "That sounds really nice - I could go for some cookies - oh, or a pie. It's too bad it's spring, or I'd probably eat a whole pumpkin pie, " her laughter was hoarse, ragged, and soft - but at least it wasn't forced.
Nineteen? This man was nineteen - "Really? You seem older, " she remarked, biting her lower lip sheepishly before she added, "I mean, in a good way. - I'm seventeen though, so the wait thing stands, " and even if she was just making a joke, it made her wonder why. Weren't most people in wars older? - why were they part of it? - how old were some of the people who'd come in here? How old was the man who'd fondled her starseed for his own sick amusement? Was he even a man at all?
"Thank you." She smiled at him, and her lips pursed for a moment, like she wasn't sure whether she wanted to follow through and say what she wanted to next. "I don't know if this is in your power or not, " and her voice dropped, frantic and fearful like an animal in a trap. "And I'll understand if you can't, and you've already done so much for me, so I can't ever thank you enough, but - but if you can, please - please don't let Leucite come to me again."

"I've not really had their pie, or cookies, but other people seem to like them a lot, as well as the cake and brownies." He said with a smile. Leto had liked their cheesecake, though he didn't say this. He could remember taking her twice to the place and enjoying a drink and dessert with her. He liked to take people with him as a treat, he liked to think of certain members as friends of his and thus treating them to some time out to enjoy a hot drink and a sweet treat. "I'll have to remember that - pumpkin pie. I'll see what I can do when fall comes." Trying, in this way, to assure her that she'd survive this whole ordeal. he'd then have to find a way to keep in touch with her and keep to his word and get her a pumpkin pie to enjoy. The keeping to his word wasn't the hard part but keeping in touch and assuring she survived this...those would be the hard things.
Shaking his head he smiled gently at her. "War makes a person seem older, I assure you. But I'm not yet twenty, soon though. Seventeen...that's young...but I started when I was sixteen. So I suppose we both entered this war at a young age." Shrugging his shoulders gently. "We'll have to wait then, four years, to have a drink together. But in four years I might find a liking for alcohol, a lot can happen in four years - trust me." So many things could happen and change in such a short amount of time. It really seemed to drag out the time but only because of how much had happened and yet he knew four years wasn't that long of a time period.
At her next words he paused to listen to her request. If it was within his power? That made him stare at her wondering what she would ask for. Then he heard it and he nodded. "I see...I assume he broke your arm.' he said nodding down to the injured limb. "I shall see what I can do. Since our orders were not to harm or kill your lot. We are to keep you all well, for questioning and the like. I'll see if I can't have something done about keeping Leucite from you." He answered. "I can't promise it but I'll try." And he would. So he had another thing to do tonight but he found he didn't mind at all. "Please...get some rest while I attend to some matters. War makes a person seem older - did it? Amphitrite didn't feel any older. If anything, she felt younger. She was acutely aware of what she was going to miss if she died here - her fantasies of a daring escape had begun to ebb away in favor of glimpses into a life she'd never know.
She didn't tell him what Leucite had done to her and her starseed. There didn't seem to be a point - he'd already promised to do the best he could without any incentive, so instead she just enthusiastically nodded (or as enthusiastically as she could, really), flashing him a feeble smile. "Thank you... thank you so much for everything."
Even so, she watched him as he went, and her eyes lingered on the door frame long after he'd vanished from it, willing time to go faster so she could see a friendly face again, talk about simpler things like ice cream and pie or any silly thing instead of glowing marks and the moon.
After about an hour - maybe more, maybe less, what was time anymore? - she gave up, slumping in her confines as though already dead. Eventually, a form did grace the doorframe, dark and outlined in light. Only this time, they weren't friendly.
