Noah just nodded, though the small glow of satisfaction expanded with the praise. He stuck with Leslie, listening for his footsteps and breathing and the scrape of his weapon against the ground as well as his voice, because voices could be false but hearing all of it, that was more reliable. Something came lurching out of the fog. "Incoming," Noah warned, and brought Laz up again in defense, but the thing wobbled drunkenly, bashed into the blade, and swayed around Noah to reach for Leslie, faster than it looked. She heard Leslie's voice, and it was rather fortunate that it was coming from the direction she was currently headed. In fact, she could finally make them out, the two of them, though their images were a fuzzy, distorted, wavering thing. Just as Noah yelled incoming and blocked against an attack, Lydia let out a small gasp and also darted forward, attempting to stop the assailant as it dodged around the life trainee and towards Leslie. "I'm here! I got it!" She cried out, putting herself in the way to deflect the being from attacking Leslie. Unfortunately, a cat'o'nine tails did not a very good defensive weapon make. "I'm okay," Noah said, between a quick series of jerky chops at a hazy figure that was there and then not, there and then not, but it seemed to be hesitant to dive straight in toward them with Laz's blade there to block it, gleaming with weird wet red webbing and the steady heartbeat pulse of white runes. "I have one too," he added. "Healing. And he's charged." Redundant, maybe, but he really should be clear because if any of them needed it it would be good to know that he had it. Rorric was nattering away wildly in her head. He was charged, she could use him, she just had to be strong, whatever backlash there was, there were those near who could heal her and she would be fine! However, she was still hesitant. She knew her shield had already taken a beating, and she knew that, theoretically, the backlash could actually kill her before anybody had a chance to save her. "M-me, please." She hated to ask, but her gaze swiveled towards the two men. "If my shield is replenished, then I can use my charge as well." Too risky otherwise. Much too risky. A part of Lydia realized that she was only delaying it, that she didn't actually want to use it. Another creature came towards them, and like Noah, she stepped in it's way to attempt to block it's path towards Leslie. HP: 24 Defending: Leslie for 5 Charge: 3/3 BOSS HP: 68/100

Leslie retaliated with a blow so strong it rattled his teeth, laying waste to a shadowy figure that lacked true-substance. Sweat slicked his hair down against his brow. Aleria reported that their shield was fine-- fine enough, at least, that the others deserved healing in priority to him, and then they could go back to attacking for a while. "Burn your charge," he said to Lydia, catching Noah's eyes with his own, fist tight around his club. "You can use it on her after, depending on the carnage." From the way she acted, hers definitely had some recoil. HP: 30 dmg// 10 Charge: 3/3 BOSS HP: 58/100 xprolixity up to you if noah wants to use his on her again after or on himself or leslie<3

Ice fled up his arm, tracing patterns of hoarfrost into his clothing as he smacked Lydia in the back, transferring that chill to her skin and shield, pinpricks of frigidity covering her from head to toe before fading into warmth. "Should be safe to use it, now," Leslie said, satisfied with his charge. Aleria sighed contentedly, at ease, their ability to store more FEAR at the ready. Burn. Haha. Burn. Lydia winced at the word, though it was likely that with everything going on, it wasn't seen. She could barely tell what was even going on around her, at the moment, but she tried her hardest to focus, on finding the bad guy. Rorric's red-orange runes flared to life, a bright glow that looked like flames licking along the whips handle. She almost dropped him, expecting it to be hot, even now, before the charge even begun. She knew she didn't want to do this, but she also knew that she had to. Leslie's icy slap against her back came as a shock, a cold shock that sent goosebumps and shivers rolling across her body. She let out a yelp of surprise, but soon after was relishing in the feeling of revitalization, her shield back up to one hundred percent. Rorric asked her if she was ready, and she mentally nodded. It was now or never. The whip in her hand no longer looked as if it was aflame, but actually was, as flames burst forth along it's handle and down each of it's tails. Just as before, the pain of it burned along her hand, her wrist, an experience that was all too real despite her shield, but she gritted her teeth against it, tears springing to her eyes as she fought not to gasp out, not to cry. She took a step forward, her other hand joining her first, burning with it. She lifted the whip, she lashed it at what she thought was a grisly shadow, emerging from the fog to tear them apart. The fog swirled, parted, revealed nothing. She let out a soft whimpering cry, and then gasped for air as the flames burnt out. And then something bowled into her from out of the fog, knocking her to the ground as she let out a shrill scream. HP: 40 - 7 - 8 = 25 Damage: none gdi Lydia one job Boss HP: 58

Noah nodded in acknowledgement of Leslie's direction, staying put and keeping watch; the shudder of frost up Leslie's arm interested him, and he filed away the effect in his mental list of what different charges looked like. Lydia's came next, fire to Leslie's ice, and the charge seemed to actually burn her. Should it be doing that? Noah asked Laz, doubtful. Laz made no response other than a burbling, rumbling growl, set on edge by the presence of danger, the presence of fire. In the weird haze, they couldn't tell if she'd hit anything, but the flame went out and something knocked Lydia to the ground, gone as fast as it appeared. "You okay?" Noah asked, as much to let her know where he was as to ask about her health, and scooted forward to pull her up, slapping the flat of Laz's blade against Lydia's arm as she rose. The white runes went bright, drooling a liquidy light that dripped down and over her arm, a wet and almost slimy sensation that nevertheless fed strength back into her shield. Leslie grimaced, watching Lydia attack, and then the recoil, and then the attack from a foggy creature. They weren't gonna catch a break, it looked like. At least Noah had her back, his weapon's charge flooding into her shield, recovering it, or so it looked it. Irritation prickled at his skin, raising the hairs of the back of his neck. He hated feeling out of his own skin, and the lunging shadows and gaseous monstrosities weren't doing anyone any favours. With a wordless snarl, he dove for one, his weapon colliding solidly with something, too distracted to give any sort of order. (Sometimes, it was easy for him to forget how young he was.) "I'm....I'm fine." She called out, pushing herself back to her feet with a huff. The pain had been quick, and a lot of her problems with the fire was more mental then anything. It was hot, and it hurt, though not nearly as badly as it would if she didn't have a shield. The shield itself took the damage, and she was left with no burns, not even the red skin that one might temporarily have from standing in a hot shower. The recoil of the attack could have been worse, would have been worse if her shield broke while using it, she was sure. Still, just the sight of the flames as they crawled up her wrists was frightening enough to put her off wanting to use the charge. Whatever Noah did certainly helped, and she squeaked out a quick "Thank you", before her attention was diverted back to the task at hand. They were still very much under attack by twisted foes that sauntered out of the fog. Skeletal shapes, shadows with too many teeth, walking corpses...it was so hard to tell what was going on. Leslie darted towards something, and with a sharp intake of air (which left her gasping and coughing soon after) she followed, her whip raised defensively once more. HP: 37 Defending: Leslie for 4

"Behind you again," and Noah returned to the spot a couple of feet behind Leslie, but this time a little to the side to give Lydia space, resuming his part of the defensive formation. A blunt flurry of something that could have been fists or tentacles surged up from the ground, accompanied by a cracked and demented giggling so soft that he wasn't sure he'd heard it at all. Don't get distracted, he reprimanded himself, and swung Laz directly into the fluttering and shadowy assault. The cleaver bit into something, fed; there was a shrilling sound of distress as faint and barely-heard as the laughter, and the attacker retracted itself. HP: 24/40 Defending Leslie: 4 Charge: 1/3

The pair of them did well enough to cover his back, blocking any incoming blows and diverting them away from Leslie. He grunted at Noah's warning, lashing out with a fury and a surprising strength. Aleria sang in his veins, and it dawned on Leslie that it was a sort of phantom-limb suggestion of feeling than any true sensation. Fear itched along his arms and legs and racing up his spine, thousands of pinpricks of hunger-fury-strength. "One more," Leslie spat, eyes darting around all three of them for additional threats. "Cover me one more time, and if I get another hit, we might be able to just take it the ******** out without anymore defense." He laughed, sharp and rusty. "Maybe. Christ, I hope. Good job and s**t, you guys are doing a bang up job." HP: 22 dmg// 9 Charge: 2/3, CHL3 used, EY2 remains BOSS HP: 37/100

He wanted cover (at least, that's what Lydia was pretty sure he had said. Everything still sounded rather distant even while right next to her), and she was only too happy too oblige, getting herself in what she thought was the best position to block incoming attacks while still giving Noah his room to do the same if he so wished. Though this was her first time in a situation such as this, she hoped that she was doing a good job. Anything that came out of the fog towards them she did not hesitate to defend Leslie against, though again, with her type of weapon it wasn't exactly easy to do. HP: 37 Defending: 5

Encouraging. Noah was rarely comfortable attacking, felt too often like he was flailing blindly and without skill no matter how much he practiced, but defense felt much more natural, accompanied by the sensation of bared canine teeth and a silent, bubbling growl. He smiled without realizing it at the praise, and fended off something that dived out of the fog, blocking with the flat of Laz's blade and shoving the thing away bodily. I'M A GOOD DOG, Laz muttered, his attention focused hungrily out towards the haze for anything else that might be coming at them. HP: 24/40 Defending Leslie: 6 Charge: 2/3 BOSS HP: 37/100
