The question earned a smile from her as Lark flicked her gaze to the side, nodding slightly in greeting as she answered. " Long enough to remember why I made my bar the way it is.. How have you been Aureana?" The traces of affection in her voice were genuine, though when or how she had started thinking of the girl as a 'friend' even Lark had no idea.. It had been for her sake that she had chosen this place instead of The Zodiac for their meeting after all. It really wasn't safe for her there.. considering what the girl was involved in.

Artemis, named for the human's goddess of the Hunt.. Lark had heard a great deal about the cyber phantom that haunted the Syndicate's shadow yet when the figure had reached out to her she could honestly say she had been surprised. Being a criminal herself, she'd expected the same sort of hostility.. Instead the figure had been respectful and cautious. Information started flowing both ways and before she knew it Aureana had started working as a middle man of sorts. How her friend fit into the Artemis plot... she had her suspicions. But she never pressed for answers, allowing it to go into the grey area until her companion chose to share such things on her own.

" Oh yes, before I forget~" Tapping her hand on the bar she sat up, reaching into the pocket of her coat.. and fishing out a lovely necklace on a delicate chain. " Your friend was looking for this, dear. Please make sure she gets it." The charm looked like a simple metal plaque, pretty yet unremarkable in its plainness; Exactly what it was meant to look like, considering it was actually a military grade flash drive. A small favor, for a dear friend.. Lark was never one to let such matters wait.

“I’ve been well, if busy. I have an interview with Dr. Galvin Nota tomorrow at Genesis, so I can’t stay too long tonight. Apparently he’s made advancement in hydroponics that will allow ships to travel much further without needing to resupply. Though translating “Genesis” so the average citizen can understand will be a daunting task as always.” Aureana laughed lightly as she sat down on the stool next to Lark. While Genesis employed the brightest minds those minds were often lacking in the communication department. It seemed like they spoke their own language and in a way she supposed they did; the language of sciences. While computers were her strong suit, technology and science often intermingled giving her an edge in understanding. Writing the science column was just close enough for her to be good at it, while being just far enough away to make sure no one new how good she really was with a computer. Besides she did enjoy the sciences and her only assignment this week was to research all things hydroponics in preparation for the interview.

“Ah, thank you. She’ll be very pleased to have it. Though you don’t suppose she’ll mind if I wear it for the time being? It is quite lovely.” She slipped the chain over her head, all part of the act to making anyone listening or watching believe it was not but jewelry. Aureana wanted to run home immediately and find out what goodies Lark had for her this time, but she would order a drink and visit instead. It used to be part of the act, but these days Aureana would stay much longer than necessary. Flagging down the bartender she asked “How have things been with you since we last talked?

Rich laughter met her friend's plight as Lark gestured for a water, sliding her dark gaze to the side so she could get a good view of her companion's expression.. before she teased lightly. " I could probably find you a good Thesaurus you know.. maybe one for children." To translate anything from the Brains behind Genesis the girl would have a very long day ahead of her, especially when her readers expected the reports to be the standard 'cheerful and optimistic' vibe that Aureana managed so naturally. Lark had no doubt in her friend's skills, only sympathy for the task ahead. Still, what a fun sounding project.. She might dig into that a little herself, off the record. Vi had been complaining about 'The Turtle' stopping so much..

Energized at the thought of a little mischief Lark filed it away for later, turning her attention back to Aureana as the woman secured her 'gift' perfectly around her neck. " Personally I think it looks better on you anyway. I'm doing better, cut ties with that guy a few nights ago.. He turned out to be such a child I couldn't tolerate him." Not a surprise considering she rarely dated anyway.. but still, it had been disappointing.

“I may have to take you up on that offer.” She grinned before ordering her own water. She had briefly considered getting something a little more potent, but she would need a clear head to deal with Genesis. “Aren’t they all children? I feel like most men never really grow up.” She hadn’t dated anyone since becoming Artemis both due to lack of time and because of the secrecy needed. In fact outside of work Lark was really the only person she talked to. Even before taking up her double she had never really connected with anyone. “They all seemed so concerned with the most petty things. I once dated a guy who would go on and on about paid off referees and favoritism if his team lost. One day I finally told him maybe they just sucked.”

" Say the word, it is yours." She promised, shaking her head faintly to keep from laughing. Readily getting on the man-bashing wagon she listened to her friend.. one brow quirking up in question as she gave a lady-like snort. " I hope he was at least worth it in bed, Rea, because I fail to see how you tolerated him otherwise." Their waters came and Lark paused, nodding in thanks as she popped a straw from its wrapper and slid it into the glass. She didn't drink from cups handled by others.. it was not a germ thing, though certainly it was a matter of self defense. Her body was, due to her split genetics, easily imprinted by those that touched her.. Her lips were particularly sensitive. Lipstick did wonders of course, but for physical contact like drinking out.. straws were her saving grace. " I must admit, the world is full of 'boys'.. So few ever become men that I've considered asking them to be listed as a endangered species. You wouldn't mind writing up a article on it for me, would you? We can title it 'The Greatest (Dating) Game: Men Worth Hunting.' "

“We certainly would have parted ways much sooner if he hadn't been skilled in the bedroom. Still, there is only so much one can tolerate before it becomes no longer worth while.” She grinned at her friend as she placed her own straw in her glass, though like most in the world she did it without thinking. They provided straws so why not use them? Aureana gave a good laugh at Lark's suggestion. “I would love to, though I am not sure my editor would agree to run it. He would fall under the category of men not worth hunting.” He wasn't a bad guy, just a workaholic. Any woman he dated would have a cold bed more often than not. “Tell me, how are things at The Zodiac? Any interesting customers of late?” One thing about the service industry, no matter what class, was there were always crazy customers making ridiculous demands. Stressful at the time, but they always made great drinking stories down the road.
