Keelthy frinned at his brothers suggestion and happily accepted the rod. His brother rambled on about their pet, Keelhty was happy about the fishing, Reill needed to feel like he was in charge and was important, but they both knew that Keelthy agreed, or they would ahve another epic battle like they had had when they were children, much to the bemusement of their parents and the consternation of the rest of the family. The yells and screeches had resounded trhough the square, causing odd looks but apparent clamness from everyone else forstalled any inquiries. These events were rare but did happen on occasion when either brother wanted to remind the others that they were twins and equals. Those had been epic days indeed, both brothers recalled them fondly after all the fires died down between them and those others in the family who were caught by the crossfire. One unfortunate cousin of theirs had lost all of this hard earned dreadlocks in one fell swoop that had involved fire. Keelhty and Reillan had regretted this unintended side effect of their quarrels. But their regret had paled in comparison to their aunts rage at have to wait months to fix their cousins hair. Sometimes there was such a thing as being to obbsessed with looks, Keel straightened his shirt.

Reill scooped up the super secret bait of which he had never identified to anyone, not even Keelthy. Fishing was an art, and arts had their secrets as well. He examined Keelthy's armload and nodded in satisfaction, they had everything. "Time to march brother, I think we have everything, come along Xarthin, its fishing time!"

The march to the river was very peaceful, the colors around them bright and vibrant, beautiful, clear and pure. They arrived at the fishing area with no issues at all. Upon arrival Reill noticed that three other earhtlings had also come for an afternoon fish. That at least they had in common, two were shifters, the other appeared to be a misplaced iceling, seen together their differences were stark and noticeable, fascinating. He found a nice place to sit, a log providing support, and began to bait his hook , Keelhty plopped own and handed his brother his hook to bait as well, he disliked squishy things when he didn't know where they came from. Reill obliged him and baited the hook iwth his super secret bait which was a chunk of intestine.

Nasty true, but it sure worked for the elusive Oban fish, They cast their lines out and sat back to wait, humming their "fishing song" together. In truth their humming didn't sound that bad, he thought that was why the tendajians didn't complain about it. It wasn't a long song but one tied to more fond memories. He was happy Keelthy was with him, it felt like he was still somehow connected to Oba, home and his mother and father this way.

Keelthy eyes Reill's bag of bait. THat was just nasty, even if Reill would tell him what it was, he wasn't sure he really wanted to know this particular secret. It smelled like a bucket of butcher scraps. Keelthy had enough dislike of handling food before it was cooked, nevermind whatever that bait was, ick. A tentative splash distracted him. He glanced over his eyes crinkling merrily, he elbowed his brother and pointed in the direction of the other earthlings. Their janarim had crept tentatively up to the river edge and dabbled a paw in the creek, with a half disgusted and half fascinated look on his face. Of course it was hard to discern expressions on a janarim's face, but if one allowed for the predatory architecture that made it up then it became easier. This was the most hilarious entertainment he had had since a comedy troupe had come to Oba. "You know, hes kind of adorable, right?" He giggled quietly at his and his brother's pet.

Reillan had been staring at his line, waiting for these stubborn tendajian fish to take the bait. He had gone all out with it and had even added some liver for smell. It should work for any fish with a nose darn it. At Keelthy's nudge he turned his head and snorted at the sight of Xarthin padding around in the shallows in curiousity. "Yes, yes he is, for the moment at least." It was true the creature seemed to be charmed by the presence of swift flowing water. " I don't blame him really, its very different from our ponds and lakes. I imagine having water move past you without moving yourself is an interesting sensation. He looked at his brother and together they stuck a foot in the river and giggled at the almost tickly feeling, looking back at the janarim they gaed in awes as Xarthin stuck his head in the water, retracting it with a nice sized fish caught in his jaws. Reill was a little miffed that the jaramim had begginers luck and they didn't. "Did you teach him that?" he asked turning to his brother in inquiry. Xarthin carried the fish up the shore and proceeded to eat it.

Keelthy snorted, "You saw him, I'm not the one who taught him that, maybe he is from the lake regions." Keelthy mused. "Hah he has more talent then we do....aha! I got one!" Keelthy's fishing rod had bowed and wriggled as the fish on the other end of the line wriggled and tossed its head. He squealed happily as his brother attempted to tell him how to catch his own fish. "Shut up Reill, I know what I'm doing! Just because I can't bait the hook without hurling doesn't mean that I can't reel Reill." He snickered at the near pun. He hadn't laughed this much in so long. He landed his fish and Reill managed to catch a small fish as well a while later, so everyone had contributed to dinner, they had bathed before returning home, so the only one who smelled fishy was Xarthin, whome they couldn't convince to stand for a proper bath. They would have to make a compromise before bed becuase he slept at Reillan's side and that wasn't that far from Keelthy's side, ick! They settled for a sand bath later which sort of worked, so they added a face wash with real water. With that the pets bath was complete and the three went to bed happily enough.
