If Claude had asked, Lydia probably would have explained her situation more in full, as she had been picked up for podding directly after her fiasco in Wonderpark (and was well aware that had she not made it off of the island and onto that boat full of hunters, she would have been blown up along with anybody else who hadn't made it).

While the results of this spar were becoming rather grim for the blue haired woman, she was not one to back down or back away. Even when Claude's next shot took her in the leg, adding a bit of a limp to her step, she continued forward, intent on evening out the odds if it might be possible to do so.

Claude's next shot missed, which was fortunate as it gave Lydia the chance to continue to close the ground between them, leaving her in much better proximity to the other woman when she managed to lash out with her whip a second time, this time with slightly more success then the time before.

She gave the other woman another rather cheerful looking smile. "You know, I think I could use a little more practice with this thing. It's more difficult to strike a person with then I had ever anticipated. Did you find your weapon to be quite easy to wield?" She wondered, always having felt that the whip didn't really suit her, while so many other hunters weapons seemed perfect for them.

She got the impression that Claude was perhaps leaving something unsaid, though the much taller woman seemed to be one of few words so perhaps that was normal. Smiling, Lydia nodded her head, somehow managing to avoid getting struck by a bullet for the second time before she darted forward with another swing of her whip.

"Sometimes I find that Rorric is not too difficult, and then other times I just can't seem to hit a darn thing!" She grinned again, a flash of white teeth on a pale and lightly freckled face. "I am afraid I might make a terrible dominatrix." She laughed then, finding her own joke to be quite funny.

Another stinging shot of a bullet pelted into her, sending her staggering, and she could feel that her shield was greatly weakened, by the amount of pain she was experiencing, by the fretful sounds that Rorric was making inside her head, and by how weary she was beginning to feel.

She wasn't really sure if that meant that she should stop, though. In some spars, like with Aro, they seemed to decide to quit when one or the other got close to breaking their shields. With Horace, however, they had not stopped until the others shield had broken.

She decided, in a split second, to continue. She had yet to experience the breaking of her own shield, and she was quite curious what it would be like, and this was, at least, a safe place to find out!

She did at least try to hit Claude. Try was the key word.

Claude missed and Lydia almost missed but somehow hit her instead, despite her whipping arm beginning to feel like some kind of jello-rubber conglomerate.

That might have been why it wasn't a very hard hit.

Lydia was pretty much just too tired to talk at the moment, which was probably saying a lot for her. She wanted to talk, but she also wanted to get shot again, which wasn't going so well considering Claude suddenly couldn't hit her.

In the meantime, she just continued to almost ineffectually flail her whip in Claude's general direction.

And then with a renewed sense of energy, Lydia did the unimaginable and flailed at Claude just a little harder then before.

She might have even growled a little.

And with that, Lydia's shield fell for the very first time since she had arrived on the island, nearly an entire year ago. It was perhaps quite telling that it had been so long and she had yet to experience it. Maybe it was luck, or maybe it was a lack of experience out in the field, where true danger dwelled. At any rate, it had happened now, as Claude's bullet pummeled into her, and she just...felt it. The bullet struck her, much more painfully then any before it. Bruises were felt more strongly then they were before. Her body instantly felt stiffened, weaker, and she collapsed on the training field ground with a small gasp and an oof of air escaping her lungs as she landed.

Rorric disappeared from her hand and resumed his place as a feathered golden bracelet around her wrist, and for a moment she worried about him, until he chirped up in her head to let her know that he was fine, just tired.

After a moment, she was able to speak again, her voice breathy, her gaze slighly unfocused. "Wow that was....certainly something." She smiled, tilting her head back (waaaaaaaay back) to look at Claude's face. "You got me!"
