"...I appreciate it." Ripley replied after a moment of thought, somehow uncomfortable by the idea that he wouldn't be allowed to pay Chance back for what was, by all accounts, a valiant and selfless gesture. "Let me know if you change your mind." It would probably bother him for only a little longer, of course. But just a little bit.
He entered the pod, and woke up in his golem, one that looked a little too much like himself for comfort, just like the other one looked too much like Chance. It made the training course very, horribly real. Which meant he flinched on Chance's behalf as the tile beneath his feet exploded, though he himself quietly stepped onto one of his own, that did nothing.
"Just wait until you die on the course." He warned. "It's just as agonizing as the real thing."

"If you're really super intent on doing something for me, or paying me back or whatever," said Chance, squinting at the tiles in front of his golem's form. "Maybe we could hang out one night or something. Maybe have a drink or two, or go out for a night or whatever."
He flashed Ripley an easy smile. "Just something casual and relaxing."
And they would probably need that, after this course. Chance was starting to see what Ripley had meant about it being dangerous, since his first step had already proven to be chaotic, and he wasn't entirely certain his second one would be any better.
Ripley, however, seemed relatively fine.
"Oh, good," said Chance lightly. "That gives me something to look forward to, right?"
The next step, however, was marginally better than the first. He eased out a sigh.

Ripley considered the counter offer, and could honestly find no fault with it; it seemed fair, just as it seemed relaxing. Though it did make him momentarily worry about what would be misunderstood as a drinking problem; it wasn't a problem per se, but it could certainly be seen that way. The notion was at least mentally shrugged off, which left him free to continue on without the need to dwell on his problems.
"Sure." He agreed, with a small nod. He had both of his leave days available too, if memory served. "Where would you like to go?" This was going to be Chance's decision if he had anything to say about it; it was to pay him back after all, it seemed only fair that he could call the shots. Within reason.
Then, naturally, the training course was brought up.
"Once. After roughly eight attempts." All of which ended rather disturbingly. But as he went to step on the next tile, he paused. Something about it didn't quite feel right, and so with a frown he moved onto a different one; one that ended with spikes coming up through invisible holes in the tile, piercing his ********>!" He grumbled under his breath, with an annoyed hiss.

Chance looked satisfied at the agreement. He tilted his head (in the golem, it felt a little weird, oddly stiff), tapping a finger against the side of his jaw as he considered the answer to Ripley's question.
"Somewhere warm," he said. "And open. I like cities as much as the next person, but I think it'd be fun to go somewhere calmer."
And Ripley was already an easy person to get along with; which meant that he would also be an easy person to go on a trip with, if the casual, stoic attitude was anything to go by. It was exactly the kind of vacation that everyone needed every once in a while.
He let out a whistle.
"That's intense," said Chance. "I appreciate you going the ninth time to help me out he - "
The rest of his sentence was drowned out by the whooshing noise of a field of spikes jutting upwards to Ripley's left. Chance gave them a flat look, tapping a foot against the ground.
"Holy s**t. This is some course. Who came up with this, anyway?" he asked, darting sideways as a spear came whistling upwards from another tile, barely missing his foot by inches.Status Step: 3HP: 20 / 40 Flags: USING Instinctive moves: 0
