The whine was almost puppy-like and Horace fought back a laugh. That chuckle turned into a hiss as her whip wrapped around his legs. He stumbled, nearly pitching backwards. "Y'know, I didn't ask. Didn't care. But you haven't told me yours." His voice sing-songed at the end and he ran at her full-tilt with intent to tackle. HP: 15/40 DMG: 7

Well, if she couldn't get the information one way, she could certainly get it in another. His vague responses left much to be desired, but were in no way irritating to the death trainee, who smiled even while she struggled to become upright, who stifled inappropriate giggles, who blushed so easily and had seemingly an endless supply of patience. "Oh, well, I..." She began to answer him, an excited note to her tone, when she was abruptly cut off by a tackle that sent her hurtling to the ground again, in just as painful of a fashion as the first time. Gasping for air, she scooted back, digging heels into dirt, kicking, squirming to get away from him. And finally she remembered she was still clutching her whip, so she swung it around to try and hit him in the temple with the butt of the handle, unwilling to actually attempt to whip him in this position. HP: 14 Damage: 8 The Semblance of Unity I assumed they would both wind up on the ground fgssggshjk hope this is ok! If not I can edit

He groaned when she caught him in the head with her whip, hand catching around her ankle. But she kicked him away and dizzily, he tried to sit up. One hand flew to his temple as everything swam in a most alarming fashion. "Go on, Lydia, I'm listening." Horace heard himself say these words as if he were very, very far away. He blinked. After striking him with the handle of her weapon, she was able to scramble away just enough to push herself, a little shakily, to her feet. She was dusted with dirt from the ground, and there were grass stains on the back pockets of her torn off denim shorts. But still she smiled, even while breathing a little heavily. "Oh wow, you got me good!" She breathed, taking a long inhale and letting it out slowly. She still gripped her weapon tight, her knuckles turning white, and her face brightened when he asked her again to tell him, though he did sound a little woozy.... Ah, no matter! He was probably fine! After all, they were on the training field, where their shields could break but they could not become seriously injured after that fact. "Well! You see, I actually survived a horrific event involving an island park, beautifully wondrous creatures, and monsters you could only find in your worst nightmares." She laughed, then. "The hunters that found me, and a handful of others, knocked us out and put us in pods and well..." Her grin widened, and she shrugged her shoulders up to her ears. "Here I am!" Of course, all of her enthusiasm was punctuated by one last roundhouse lash, followed quickly by a second, just to show that she wasn't taking a break for idle chatter. HP: 14 Damage: 10

Horace blinked, wondering exactly how Lydia could smile and laugh as though she was discussing the weather instead of something that sounded terribly traumatic. "You should write a book!" Then her whip came round and round and he felt his shield stretch and tear. He swore he could see tiny pieces of it shimmer like dust motes in the light. Dr. Jannisari vanished from his hands. Without the shield, those lashes hurt, sharp stinging pains - nothing bad, but he pressed a hand to the welts on his arm and shook his head. "Jesus ******** christ, ease up. I yield or whatever." He laughed and fixed her with what he thought was an appropriately pleading look. Not that Horace was great at puppy dog eyes, but he tried. "You win, miss cryptozoology. Not a bad spar." He held out a hand.

"Oh yes! I plan to!" She nodded. "Though the file I submitted on my experiences was certainly hefty enough to be considered as such, I think." She grinned more, her arms dropping when his weapon suddenly vanished. Lydia blinked owlishly large eyes in surprise. "Oh, I'm so sorry! Did I...actually break your shield?" She asked, gasping in concern as Rorric was also desummoned. "Oh my, I've never done that before! Ohhhh goodness, again, I am so sorry!" She didn't quite seem to realize that this was, quite often, the result of a spar. Her eyes flicked down to the hand that was extended towards her, and she thought that, obviously, if he was willing to shake on it then he couldn't be all that upset with her. Smiling again, only slightly more tentatively this time, she took his hand in hers. "It was pretty good, yes!" She agreed. "Your style was quite something to encounter."

"You're supposed to break shields, Lydi. So, congratulations," he said dryly. He shook her hand and grinned. "You're weird, but hit me up if you wanna spar again. I'm gonna go lie down a bit." Even Horace wasn't sure if he meant the offer sincerely or not. Lydia was weird, and the kind of weird that could be cute if she hadn't walked all over his fragile teen ego. With one last wave, he turned around and began to wander off.
