Rieseln gave a little 'ooh' and peered into the skull again at the suggestion of a meeting space. That would be pretty cool! Holding secret meetings in a massive skull. This pride knew what they were doing when it came to massive things like this.
"That would be awesome," she said, watching as the male succeeded in getting one of the rib bones out of the sand and began to drag it away. Pawing at the sand a bit, she found a nice shell to add to the pile other lions seemed to be finding. She dug a little more, wondering if she could get to one of the rib bones that was really sunk down started.
---
Shikoba licked her lips as she made her way back to the skeleton. Her fur tasted like fish and sand now, but she didn't mind. She'd helped out quite a bit and she felt rather proud of herself for being one of the first to succeed in getting a rib bone out. A lion walked by her with another and she watched him go, glad that this seemed to be a quick job. She loved to help, but she didn't want to infringe on the pride and stay too long once this was done with.

"Welcome, strangers, stay a while! The Bahari'mtoto welcome you!" Athena watched lions gather, some from outside even the Kizingo'zaa's lands, then gave a bow to FireDog. It was good to see that even one of their brothers from the neighboring pride had joined them! As she started toward the skeleton, she spied a lioness who looked as though she'd risen from the sea. "Hello, stranger! Welcome to the Bahari'mtoto!" She'd gone out looking for a male to sire cubs... What she'd found was a curiosity. It wasn't often that Pandora considered leaving her island home, of course, but that burning need had been her inspiration. Not just any male would do, she wanted to find a specific look. She just had to figure out what it WAS...
The young adult had been surprised, then, when a half-lion had told her of a pride that needed help moving the skeleton of some beast of the sea, and had come out of curiosity's sake to see. Indeed, the pride was one on the ocean's edge, and many lions had gathered to help move the bones. She looked at it, then at the black and purple lioness. "Bahari'mtoto..." Sea children. That almost seemed like a sign to her that she'd find the ideal sire somewhere around here. She blinked for a moment, then motioned to the bones. "What's going on?"Athena motioned to the bones as well. "This washed up on our beach not that long ago, and we picked it as clean as lions could... Let the baboons do the rest, the sun bleach the bones a bit... Now we're collecting the ribs to fortify our dens with, to protect against storms." A couple ribs had even been wrestled away already! "Would you like to come join us? If you find any small bones, you may keep them as decoration, if you so please, or if your pride allows!" She didn't know what every pride thought of wearing the bones of the dead beasts of the world. Many she'd heard of did allow it, but she figured... There may be some that didn't.Pandora's ears folded back. "My pride does not allow for wearing of bones... But I will do my best to help." She'd pass any small bone she found off to somebody else. The wave- and fish-marked lioness walked up to the bones, staring up at them. Up close... It was impressive. She now wished she'd come sooner, when it was covered in flesh, to see what it truly looked like up close. There was no sense in wondering now, though. She had bones to pick at! She reached up, grabbing at a rib, tugging on it, before it gave and she fell back in the sand. Success! Now what?"Good job, everybody who's already gotten a rib off! Five down, fifteen to go!" She turned to the wave-marked lioness, motioning toward where the dens were. "Just take it up there, we'll figure out where to put it later!"Drag it up there... Pandora gaped at the distance, then settled in and, gripping it in her teeth, dragged the rib up to the dens. It wasn't an easy trek for her, but she made it, and, after a short rest, soon returned to the beach.

Kaikane had to yawn. Somewhere in the middle of his morning walk the lion had started to doze off. But now with all the lions moving across the sands it hadn't been hard to wake up quickly and snap to attention. Is it finally time to do something about that? By that he meant the large whale which had washed up ashore a bit ago. He had heard stories about it when he got back from another day of patrolling, but barely a bite had been left for him...and like always his family had teased him about missing out again.
Today though he was determined to take part in a part of the pride's activity. It was better to help rather than to just guard all the time after all. So with ease Kaikane bent down to grab a rib in his strong jaws and ever so steadily began to carry his piece off towards the dens.

As she continued to dig, Ries came across another shell. This one was spiral-y and very pretty in hue, so she tucked it behind her legs to inspect later. She wasn't really one for dangly things or talismans, but maybe she'd make an exception for that one. It could be made into a pretty necklace, or the shell could be smashed up and the little bits could be make into a bracelet like so many of the lions here had. So many options!
---
Shikoba's ears flicked back as more and more lions started to appear. It was getting a bit crowded on the beach and, as much as she wanted to keep helping, she knew she'd just get in the way. Making a quiet exit, she headed back to the forest to go back to the rogue lands. She had helped out a bit by bringing that rib over, she was sure they could handle the rest on their own.

(19-20 - You try to move the skull... That's not gonna work, though, so you give up and try again! ) Nightingale was late to the show, as usual, but she had taken her sweet time getting here. It was her first time branching out of her pride into the wilds; even if those wilds were their friendly neighbors in the Bahari.
Although the lioness was more apt to stealing bones than moving them, she wanted to build relationships among others. It was important to do that sort of thing; that way, if she needed a bail out, more lions would be there to assist her.
The young adolescent rolled her shoulders gruffly before moving in towards the skull. No one else was bothering with it, so that meant it was up to her! Figures. I'm always stuck with the tasks no one wants. That was mostly because she chose to do them, anyway, to spare her siblings the grief, but still!
Pressing her paws up against the skull she pushed and strained, throwing her all into the action with little result. "Oh come on, stupid skull, move already!"

Ries sighed softly and glanced to the jungle. This had been fun at first, but now she wanted to keep moving on. The lion that had spoke to her wasn't nearby, so she didn't bother to call out to him that she was leaving. Instead she hopped off into the jungle, not at all minding that she had just up and left. They had plenty of lions to help, after all! She could move on. --- Kicheko finally headed over to the whale skeleton after napping a bit longer than she expected to. No harm, no foul, though, as quite a few of the rib bones had already been brought up to the dens. She grinned at the sight of them, her claws itching to help out by dragging some more up as well. Trotting down to what remained of the carcass, she knocked a few little bone nuggets along with her. Whoops...looked like the birds and baboons had carried them in their feasting. "All right, let's get down to it!" she said with a grin, sniffing one of the flippers. Ew, it still smelled really bad. There was nothing good about fish that had been sitting out in the sun for a while, and it seemed the same held true for whales. Dulcea Rasul and Kicheko can meet here =D Kill to birds with one stone!

Rasul shook hard to loose the sand that clung to his mane as he settled back beside the carcass. Surveying it, he noted that they'd made quite more progress than he would have expected at this point. A little while longer and they could get down to the real work of laying the bones into the walls of the dens. That would require a lot more brute force, he wagered. But he was prepared to do what needed to be done, be it digging scavenging or barking orders. Though he had never been good at the last.
He noticed the later arrivals, including one very colorfully marked female who seemed entirely eager to begin her part in the task. "Grab what you can," he told her as he lifted up on his rear paws to try and press another large bone loose from the frame, "The longer it sits out here the more brittle it's likely to become." And the bones would be little use to them if they weren't prepared properly. It helped that the sun had done a lot of the bleaching, but he worried what the salinity might do to their structure. Best to get them inside.
As he leaned on the skeleton a small vertebra snapped loose, falling to the sand. He pushed it toward where he had left his bloodlined shell. A good piece like that might be useful to work the edges off of materials later on. Or decorate his mane, should he take up this island lifestyle wholeheartedly.

Kicheko, sizing up the skeleton, glanced at a male she'd never seen before as he spoke to her. She stepped back and watched him shove the ribs, a little grin on her face. She knew just about everyone in the pride, so this guy was obviously a rogue. Or maybe someone new that was looking to join...that would be nice! It was always fun having new friends.
When his efforts yielded nothing but a broken vertebrae she had to laugh a bit. "Careful, those'll hurt if you get them in your eye," she said, moving in to dig at the rib bone next to the one he was trying to wiggle free. She had it out within a few minutes and, dragging her prize off to the dens, gave the male a little wink.
Once she reached the pile of bones they were making she pawed through them a bit, testing their strength. She'd be using them later to re-enforce the dens closest to the beaches that had to deal with the wind that would whip off the ocean. She loved helping make new dens, and wondered if the male down there wrestling with the rib bone would be the new inhabitant of one.
Trotting back down the beach, she took up her place beside the male once more.
"So, you a rogue?" she asked. "I've never seen you before, and I know just about everyone in the pride."

Rasul thought about her question for a moment, his mind wandering to the family that had been displaced when the Ukuucha fell. He wondered where his daughters were primarily, and strong willful Lithophoro, but most of those that had disappeared in the confusion he found had made their way to other prides, and were well taken care of. To think otherwise was just too painful. They took care of their own, after all.
"I suppose I was a rogue," he told her finally, his tone a little lowered as he pushed halfheartedly on the skeleton's dense skull, "The place I was born is deserted now, there's nothing left to go back to." Not that he was sure he would want to return at this point. The world was much larger, more beautiful, and more confusing that he had ever been led to believe. There was less cruelty in it, and more wonder. Like this place, and this great beast that had been tossed to the shore.
A good place to call his new home. "I hope to stay here, for a long while if they'll have me," he admitted, "There's nowhere else I'd rather be. And you?"

Kicheko pawed at the sand around another rib bone, finding another bone fragment. It was a very interesting shape, so she pushed it aside to use later in some sort of decoration.
As she listened to the male's story she couldn't help but feel badly for him. He wasn't a rogue by choice, his pride had been dissolved. She was glad he had found the Bahari, though, as she knew how friendly everyone was here.
"Oh no, I was born into this pride," she said with a smile. "I'm glad you found it! Not many cross paths with us here. I'm Kicheko," she added, her smile growing a bit. "And on behalf of the entire pride, I'd say you're more than welcome to try our home out on for size. I'll help dig you a den to live in and maybe you'll get one of those rib bones to support it. Wouldn't that be neat?"

The lion felt a smile creep across his face. Kicheko reminded him a lot of his mother, she seemed to be kind hearted and honest. It hadn't been long since he had found himself at the crux of a whole family's responsibilities, feeling compelled to clean up his father's messes. It was nice to take joy in the simple things again.
"That would be, neat," he agreed, the word still sounding a bit strange. They would have to ensure it was well fortified, he knew. After all, the memory of his first den collapsing was still fresh in his mind. That had been his own fault though, carrying out an experiment that should have been done outside. At that time they had simply rebuilt. But he'd be more alone now.
"Have you traveled much?" he asked, not realizing that the question might offend. Traveling the roguelands had always seemed a normal rite of passage for the males in his home, he wondered what customs this new place might carry out.
His thoughts were interrupted as his paw landed on a slick black object that wavered beneath his touch. It's curled ends and foul slimy coating had him beyond puzzled. It looked like no creature he had ever encountered before, and yet seemed very much alive. "What ah, what is this?" he gagged, trying to equalize his disgust with curiosity.

As some of the others talked, Athena picked at some of the bones. A finger here, a spinal bone there... She paused by the skull, mulling over what they would do with it. Would they really just let the sea reclaim it? Or could it be of some sort of use? She gave it a half-hearted shove, before going back to picking in the sand, only looking up at the distinct sound of a rib getting dislodged. "Great job on those ribs!" She grinned with an ease she didn't recall ever knowing. "Only thirteen to go!" She paused, noticing where Kicheko had stepped. "Oh! You found a mermaid's purse! You best toss that back in, otherwise it'll be bad luck for you!"
Pandora's ears flicked at the term. Mermaid's purse... Oh, if she only knew... The young blue and white lioness had purposely omitted just who her pride WAS, wanting to retain the secrecy and mysticism of it. There'd be no sense in letting it out where she was from.
Her attention returned to the bones. As she picked around in the sand, she came across a bone. One of its fingers. She found a spot it wouldn't get lost and set it aside. No bones for this girl! Tail flicking, she turned and went back to the skeleton. This was helping them, nothing more.

I'onoe stared at the crowd that had gathered, rogues and pride members alike helping to shift the enormous task that was their job today. She beamed; an unusually bright smile on the normally quiet female's face as she trudged around the skull, trying to find her new move. Something small caught her eye though, a beautiful shell sitting beside a rib and she nuzzled into the sad to grab it out. Brushing the sand off, she smiled.
I bet I could get a necklace from this, she mused and tucked it into her hair, to keep it safe. Her hair, wavey from the ocean, trapped it well and it wouldn't fall out unless she wiggled it out with some force.
She squared her shoulders and looked for her next task; she wasn't a large female but she would try to help!

Apparently Catamaran's interest in the exotic stranger had drawn attention. He'd barely begun to approach the little lioness when he found his path intercepted by a large, dark lion with a grim sort of expression and a tone of voice the Nayangumi didn't particularly care for. Gazing down his nose at the other, though they were relatively similar in size, Cata returned the less than friendly greeting. Had it been another member of his pride, he would have likely put his coercive personality to good use instead. You could start by getting out of my way. I was talking to her.
He didn't need to toss a gesture toward Kawasemi, Strychnos had been watching him the entire time. He knew all too well that the intrigue kindling in his gaze had been sparked to life by his companion. Despite the native's suggestion, remained in his place. You can't talk to her.
At that Catamaran bristled, he was growing tired of this rogue and being a guard, had the advantage of being able to kick the other out if he so chose. In an effort to avoid a scene though, he first tried side-stepping around the lioness' irritating guardian. I'll talk to whoever I please.
No, I mean you can't talk to her. Strychnos repeated himself, slower this time and with more emphasis. Making it clear he thought the Bahari lion a little slow. She won't understand a word your saying. She doesn't know your language.
Their conversation paused only briefly when the subject of their discussion strolled up, completely oblivious to the tension. She happily showed the stranger the bone Strychnos had told her she was allowed to keep an then left it with him for safe keeping. Sometimes, being around Kawa was rather exhausting. Clueless girl. Still, she had made his point. See what I mean?
Catamaran was stunned by the little beauty, the musical sound of her voice, even if he didn't understand the words, left a knot in his stomach. She was possibly the most adorable creature he had ever laid eyes upon and her cheery nature made her seem to glow. He felt the urge to follow when she turned to leave, but there was still the matter of the dark blockade in his way. Just who was he to her? Without hesitation, Catama sought to find out. Asking brusquely, Are you her father?
No, but why...? Strychnos thought about lying if it would cause the other to lose interest, but somehow he doubted it would have made much of a difference. For some reason it annoyed him that the other was trying to unravel the connection between himself and Kawa.
Then are you her brother? Catamaran continued his line of questioning determined to find answers, interrupting without concern. No. Stryc answered flatly, though he wasn't sure why he was entertaining the ocean blue lion's curiosity. Her mate? No! Her friend then? No.. that is..
Strychnos hesitated awkwardly, uncertain. What was Kawasemi to him? She had started out as a nuisance, but now he wasn't sure how he would have labeled their relationship. ...it's complicated.
Doesn't seem complicated, Catamaran mused dryly. You're no one of any importance as far as I can tell. So it shouldn't matter if I take an interest in her.
What was that expression? The early bird gets the fish? If her companion hadn't made a move for her yet, that was his loss, Catamaran certainly wasn't foolish enough to let her slip through his paws without making an effort to win her. He'd start by learning her name--and teaching her his. Snaking around the shadow to meet up with the lioness as she returned from the den area Cata didn't even pause to glance at the small bone in his path. He had far more interesting things to keep his attention.

The male's question made Kicheko chuckle just a bit. "Nah...just to our neighbors," she said, nodding in the direction of the Kizi. "We're kind of homebodies here, but there's really nothing that says you can't go out and wander around. It's hard to leave this place, though...the ocean isn't everywhere after all."
When he found a mermaid's purse and questioned it, she grabbed a larger bone from the whale's fin and scooped it up, flinging it into the sea.
"That," she said, spitting out the purse, "Is bad luck here. Mermaid's purse. But don't worry! Maybe since you're new it won't rub off on you! Or," she said, a mischievous grin on her face. "If you tell me your name I'll have a little chat with the sea and see if I can get it to take the bad luck back."
