Za Sakka Inai Hi there, I am going to aquire yet another instrument to play and I want to know what you think. Should I play a Bassoon or an Oboe? I already play a Clarinet, Alto Sax., and Flute, so this will be my fourth instrument... I can learn any complexity.... Thanks ^^ Bassoon! It's hard, but fun!

Do bassoon. It's a good scholarship instrument, complex, and makes some beautiful music.

Play bassoon. Bassoons are very cool. Listen to Red Cape Tango.

Hmm...just pick whatever you like the sound of better, however, oboe may be best for you because the fingerings are similar to the instruments you already play.

i personally found bassoon quite easy to learn, but i switched from clarinet and the fingerings, like said before, are very similar.

Go for bassoon. Both high and low notes are easy. (Me will be in eighth grade, I play pretty good.)

oboe....its more similar to the sax/clarinet/flute fingerings ...plus, bassoon is in bass cleft with just adds to the difficulty. both are hard to find, but bassoons you will have even more difficulty finding an instrument to rent/buy. i play sax and just (as of...yesterday XD) renting an oboe, i got the only one in the store *dies*

If your going to comit to it I'd say the excact oposite of what everyone else is saying. Go for oboe.
Ever played lead in a showcase band? (for musicals and such)
Guess which instruments you'll need to know to play lead in one.
Yeah you guessed it.
Flute, Upper Clarinet, Alto Saxaphone and OBOE!
So being able to play all those upper woowinds instruments, well can be just as much of an opportunity opener as playing the bassoon.
But if your not looking to commit to much time but still want some benefits then bassoon is great to. You won't be bored with it if your in an ensemble that plays complexer pieces.

I'm not sure about oboes...but I play the bassoon so I'm going to say play that one!!! X3 The bassoon is relatively easy, after your fingers get used to all the different fingerings. And although the bassoons rarely get the melodic line, when we do it's a great joy! ^^
Bass clef is relatively easy to learn too. I had to switch from Trebel to Bass, and now I play Tenor for pep band, I had to re-learn Treble....though I didn't really forget it. I just can't remember the note names! But the basson has a nice sound, and so does the Oboe! XD

I play the oboe and I'd say the play the oboe because you can march and perform in concert band without the hassle of switching to another instrument plus its fun
