Bree was so amazed by all the tales Caster would tell of his family. It did kind of make her wish she still had one, but yet she didn't want to say it to his face, because normally she wasn't one for someone to complain about her lifestyle. "Well that's good. It would be kind of awkward if that happened, but hopefully other ponies come and visit from other places so you get some variety. I always heard that variety is the spice of life."
She pondered over the last question Caster asked her. "Well I hate to admit it, but normally I'm a bit of a bawl baby or I was when I was little. Truthfully I would either try to ignore them now or I probably could trap them in an illusion to shut them up. Although it would be more of a nice illusion like you see something you would love to happen, instead of something psychotic."

"A nice illusion," mused Caster. "That sounds very good. Ah! There's Tory's place! Descend with me!"
He banked his translucent wings and landed gracefully. He was a slow learner at magic, but he had taken to the air like a fish to water.

Bree nodded her head and followed after Caster. She landed down next to him while checking the place over. "Wow...looks pretty neat. Does he specialize in any type of cooking?"

"Uh," said Caster, thinking. "No, not really. Boggart, his son grows fresh foods, so a lot of it has vegetables and fruit in it, but Tory will make whatever you want."
They went inside. Once it had been a modest cottage, to which had been added a patio which had been extended to become a verandah and then extended further to be a large pavilion of wood and plaster with decorative columns with a cottage attached at one side. At that point, the original cottage had been removed and in its place had been built a large kitchen separated from the pavilion by a counter. Beyond the kitchen was a much larger home for Tory. Often, Tory would find, if he slept in, that someone had opened his pavilion and started cooking breakfast in the kitchen. He didn't mind if they wanted to do that, as long as they made something for someone else as well.
The workmanship of the place was what set it apart and prevented it being classified as a simple cafeteria. The collection of ponies in the town at the base of the Green Lady Mountain were usually very gifted and they liked to show off, especially if they could offer a show of their skills as payment for a meal. In the same way as Caster made up some rose centrepieces for the long tables, others had carved the columns which held the roof up or made the furniture or donated woven cushions for the motley collection of chairs and benches. This lead the pavilion to seem more like an enlarged family dining room, instead of a place for strangers to eat.
A few ponies sitting at benches or chairs looked up and waved or smiled, most of them having mouths full of Tory's food. One pony had fallen asleep with a drink at their elbow and their head on a forelimb.

Bree was amazed by all the surroundings and what Caster had told her. "I see. Sounds like a really talented chef." She continued to glaze over all the ponies that were busy enjoying themselves with the food and company. Bree waved back to the ponies. She definitely was not a shy one and a friendly gesture meant a lot to her. Bree focused her attention back towards Caster. "So what's your favorite food he makes, if you don't mind me asking?"
((That's fine. Makes it more interesting anyways.))

"Uh, he makes this really interesting potato casserole," he said, cringing at how boring this made him sound. "And he's got a really good seasoning for his chips. But he does this mince pie you'd probably like, with pastry and potato on top." His eyes glazed over momentarily, imagining the pie.
He shook himself and went up to the counter. Yuzuki Bakura was tending it. "Hey, Yuzuki, how are you?"
"Not bad!" said Yuzuki brightly- her entire personality was bright.
"What's on today?"
"Oh, lots of things, actually it's mostly leftovers from lunch!" answered Yuzuki. "But I can bring you out a plate of a bit of everything! Or do you want two plates?"
"Two, please."
"Ooooh!" said Yuzuki, smiling. She wasn't a gossipy person, she was just happy Caster had made a friend. "Coming up!"
Caster waved Bree to a seat. "That's Yuzuki. She's kind of extended extended family, she's with the brother of the mate of Valmoriel, in the mountain with me. She's always like that. Beats me how, her dads are insane, her brother is creepy as hell and she used to live in the Kaiba mansion with the rest of the satanic skids. Anyway, she's probably helping Tory out here just for fun."
Yuzuki came out with two plates, a jug of water and two cups. Before she went three steps, someone from a closer table got up and took the plates from her, leaving her only with the jug. "Thanks!" she said. She put the jug in front of Caster and the plates in the centre, allowing Caster and Bree to choose which they wanted. "There we are!"
"Thanks, Yuzuki," said Caster.
"Oh, how lovely!" said Yuzuki, bending down and scooping a large vine of climbing roses off the bench before they could take root in the wood. "That's so nice of you, Caster, I'll go put them in a vase!" And off she went.
Caster blushed. He had not meant to make roses appear. He had been so pleased with everything going so smoothly that he's just... let some magic go, he supposed. Like a fart. Well, Yuzuki was happy now.
"Uh, help yourself to whichever plate you want," said Caster. "It was nice of her to do it like this..."
(He likes potatoes. It was about the normallest, least fancy thing I could think of for him to like)

"Sounds pretty tasty." Bree sat there listening as Caster described the food. It all sounded pretty delicious to her. "Actually I'm not a picky eater and like whatever I can get. So long as it is edible." She laughed a bit before following him over to the counter listening to the two talk amongst themselves. She lightly nodded as a sign of hello to Yuzuki then went over to the table where Caster picked.
Bree listened as Caster described Yuzuki. "Well she seems like a nice pony. Are you two childhood friends I take it? Although sounding from all your family it seems you were never short of friends unless you were the type to just force yourself to be alone constantly." She paused for a moment. "Oh um...well I don't mean to sound like you were a recluse or claim you were I was just..." She stopped herself before she went off rambling again. "I'm sorry...I'll just leave it at that."
Bree's eyes widened at the sight of the food. It all looked so delicious and tasty. She turned towards Yuzuki and gave a friendly nod. "Thank you miss." She normally didn't call others by their name until she got familiar with them so she didn't appear to be rude or offensive. Bree did notice the roses, but she didn't feel like embarrassing Caster anymore than he probably was so she let it drop. "They both look so good." She looked at both of them. They seemed evenly proportioned to her so she grabbed the one on the right. "I'm assuming they're both the same? If not no biggie. Like I said before. I eat just about anything and am willing to try anything either."

"Childhood friends?" asked Caster. "Oh, no, Yuzuki is really much older than I am. She acts like a kid, so it's really easy to get to know her. I... well when my brothers and sister and I were born, we were just about the only youngsters around here. I didn't want to hang out with my Jet or with Tillian (they're not nice, don't go near them), so I hung around with my brother, Haradrin. He's my dragon brother. He's a complete doormat."
He grabbed the plate closest to him. "Oh no-one cares about manners here," he said. "As long as you're polite, you can stuff yourself silly. And if you don't like it, change seats." He hadn't realised how hungry he had been until he smelled the food.

Bree started to eat a bit as she listened to Caster. He seemed to know so much about the ponies in the valley that it was rather interesting for her. "I see. Were Jet and Tillian bullies or something? Your brother sounds pretty nice. I had a brother one time. He was a bit mean and heartless so I didn't get to know him too well. He believed the strong should inherit the earth." She bit her lip a bit unsure if she should continue the subject so she dropped her own personal story. "I take it you had nice parents as well?"
"Well that's good then, I guess." She looked at the food again. "I can tell he puts a lot of effort into the food, because it tastes good." She continued to eat a bit. "Yuzuki seems sweet to. There seem to be many nice ponies in your home area." She paused although I wouldn't be surprised if there were some sour apples. They seem to be everywhere you go no matter what."

Caster's eyes widened and the food in his mouth seemed dry. "Bullies? Uh... Yeah. They still are. I stay away from them. And my brother, Blake. They just don't understand what they can do." He felt awkward and unhappy. He turned back to his plate to take another bite of dinner, but a protective trail of thorns had curled around his foreleg and chest.
"Freaking-!" he tore himself free. "Ugh!"
"Sour apples... yeah. We have a lot." he suddenly wondered if he himself was a sour apple, considering how angrily he had just destroyed an innocent rose plant. But he couldn't help it, he was just so ANNOYED!

Bree listened as he talked about all the types of ponies in the area. She went back to eat some food as she noticed that poor Caster seemed uncomfortable. She didn't want to embarrass him, but she was a bit concerned for him. "Are you going to be ok?" She looked back down at her food unsure if she should press her luck or not. "I really wish there was something I could do for you to show I'm grateful for the hospitality and company."

"Well, if you don't tell anyone you found me killing a rose bush like it had insulted my entire family, that, I think, would call us even," he said with embarrassment. "I'll be fine, I think my skin is rather tough from all the poking I get from the thorns, and maybe because my mother has scales. Like you- you must love roses." He grinned.
"My grandpa lets my cousin style his hair with the spiderwebs she makes- she's half drow- even though they're poisonous. He's a dragon, so they can't hurt him."
He leaned forward, curious. "Do you ever, and stop me if I'm being rude, but do you ever do something that your common sense says would hurt you but doesn't because you're a dragon and resilient? Like fly so high someone like me would freeze, or dive so low over the ocean you dive in and fly out again, even though anyone else with wings would have to swim away? I suppose maybe a demon could do that, but someone like me with... these wings... or a pegasus would end up all waterlogged."

Bree nodded her head. "Alright, I can keep that a secret. Besides I rarely get to talk to one pony more than once being a traveler and all." She smiled lightly. "Actually I do like flowers. Probably because they are real and the only ones I can make are hallucinations."
"Ah I see. I'm guessing most of the dragons in your area are invulnerable to a lot?" She was rather curious who all these dragons were since he seemed to talk so highly of them. Then again she was pretty sure that none of them were probably related to her so she didn't get to anxious.
"You know to tell you the truth, I don't honestly know if I have. I do know I can handle high altitudes fine with no problem. For the ocean, I have never tried to be honest." She laughed a bit nervously at the last part. "Although I hope you don't find me to be a damper, but I do know that if dragons wage war on each other, it normally turns out to be a blood battle and most end up dying." She paused for a moment. "I think that might be the only time I've known where a dragon falls." Bree shook her head. "You're not being rude. In fact I don't mind sharing. Regardless of what I tell you, the truth is the truth and nothing can really change that."

Caster was a little confused. "Yes, ah, they all seem impervious to most things... heat, cold, poison- that is, liquid poison on your skin, I'm sure they could still die from breathing it or drinking it."
Caster went a little pale at the thought of a dragon battle. "They say the dragon ranks were decimated in the past from infighting and fighting this one dragon... My grandpa was in his egg when that happened but my grandmum was there, that's how she got her scars. Numbers seem to have bounced back, though, I mean if you have dragons you're from and I have dragons I'm from... we'll be swimming in dragons soon!" He tried to smile reassuringly.

Bree realized he was confused. "I think some earth ponies if they had certain magical abilities, they could take down a dragon possibly." She paused for a moment. "Well at least, I've never really had to fight anything that much. That's probably why I don't know too much about how strong dragons are and what not. To tell you the truth before I met you I didn't know Seryphs existed. I see mostly common earth, pegasus, and unicorns. Maybe once in a while a demon or vampire, but not too much of a variety." She paused for a moment. "I'm pretty sure drinking it would be able to destroy your insides, unless if the dragon itself is poisonous and has some sort of anti-venom in their system. That's the only way I can think of it."
She noticed he went a bit pale. "Yeah...my family..." she trailed off for a while not sure if she should tell him or not. "Half of my family is wiped out actually due to that. It was just two clans warring over each other, but in the end they both ended up loosing numbers. I do have my brother, who I would be ok if I didn't see him again." She stopped herself short. "Oh...I really hope I'm not coming across as an antisocial pony. I really do enjoy company, I just don't like ones that love to cause pain and misery for fun."
Bree decided it was best to get off the subject since she didn't want to sound mean to Caster. "I'm pretty sure. I know some dragons in the area have been willing to meet other types of species instead of their own and they have kids which pass on the genes, so it's a pretty good chance they will make a full comeback." She paused for a moment.
