[Ceirrys and Leszyth]

Leszyth crooned towards his mother at her greeting, Me and Mine are very much looking forward to the festivities Banshidheth, I will not be hiding from the world any longer! He promptly scampered after Imbeleth in his investigation of where the music was coming from, curious to see the humans and their instruments.

Ceirrys didn’t attempt to run after Leszyth, if J’ric was with the two dragonets they couldn’t get into too much trouble, and besides he wanted to try all the delicious foods that had been specially prepared for the occasion! He wandered towards the table Vesin and Vosin were headed towards, they looked very fetching and he greeted them with an easy smile, “Wonderful how everyone came together for this celebration don’t you think? People went to so much trouble to get everything ready and the food looks amazing!

[Carwyn & Alaiath]

Carwyn had changed at the hold after her visit with Ceirrys; she was now dressed in the clothes she had packed for tonight, a flowing cream blouse was worn beneath a fitted harper-blue vest that hugged her hourglass figure but wouldn't constrict her movements such that singing would be difficult. She had opted for a klah-brown riding skirt tonight, wanting something more feminine than trousers and let down her waves of honey-blond hair for this occasion rather than keeping them back in a thong or pleated for riding as she usually did. To complete her ensemble she wore the copper locket her family had given her and wore two small sapphire earrings to compliment her vest, the ensemble wasn't opulent, but it was comfortable and flattering.

At the moment she was playing with her mother and a few other harpers in attendance, Cappella offering her own accompaniment to the merry songs. Alaiath was enjoying draconic company elsewhere in the bowl, eager to have so many she could enjoy conversation with, but bugled a greeting towards the weyrlings as they entered the bowl. Carwyn grinned as she saw the young bronze and Leszyth scampering towards them and had both her hands not been occupied by her harp, would have waved merrily to Ceirrys and the boy running after his hatchling. She hoped K’err had brought his lute, it would be a pleasure to play with him and Sirinth again.

F’in walked at the back of the group, all bruises and swollen face, a tankard of diluted medicine at his side as an on-demand pain reducer. His face was bandaged with fresh, white dressings and an eye patch was laid over top, to give the bundle a bit of style. It was something F’in had to consider – would he rather the bare socket or the patch? He wasn’t sure yet, not before the wounds healed and the scars could be seen.

Walking at his side was Conroith, as proud as punch to be with Hers, her head held high and a jaunty bounce to her step. Her injuries had mostly healed now, swept aside in the initial spurt of growth and rest after hatching. Mine, look at all of the people! There is much to see! So many games! She tilted her head to look over at her fellow green Sirinth, Sirinth, Yours likes the music too, right? Mine will dance.

F’in laughed a bit, patting his green’s head, “That’s a bit ambitious right now, love. Maybe though.” He glanced over at K’err, his grin goofy and at ease , “She’s convinced I’ll go dancing to the music.” The farmer boy tugged his shirt down and settled his pants as they were presented, glad that someone had been kind enough to lend him something semi- formal to wear – it wasn’t perfect, but given the crowd gathered, he didn’t think he stood out either.

When Banshideth addressed them, Conroith puffed out her chest, Mine is whole, Banshideth! And I am well. We stand ready for our duties! She gave the mental impression of a good natured salute and F’in chuckled. The festival had put the green in high spirits.

Conroith’s attention was caught by Leszyth and Imbeleth and her sense of play lead her bound off after the two, calling out happily. She reared up and tried to flop on the larger bronze hatchling, broadcasting to both, curiosity evident in her mindvoice,What are you doing?

F’in laid a hand on K’err’s shoulder and gestured to the food table, “I was told the riders and folk put this together for us. I think it would be unkind not to partake, hm?” He smiled and his stomach growled – he’d been unconscious for most of the day and hunger was gnawing at his insides something fierce now that the smells of roasted meat had hit him.

He started to where Ceirrys, Vesin, and Vosin had gathered, waving as he approached.

Jameson or J'on as he was going to go by from now on, made his way to the feast, his little green beside him. Sure they were a bit late, but J'on had some trouble finding his clothes in what was the mess of his room. All of his things had been packed in a hurry. But thankfully he hadn't missed anything or forgotten it. For now he would miss Malvren, but he needed to train here. Someday he'd go back, atleast he figured he would.

He strode through the doors in a pair of black pants that held no holes or rips and a black long-sleeved shirt with grey lines on the sleeves starting from the collar of his shirt over his shoulders and running all the way to his wrists. His hair was combined back neatly and he wore a grey vest and black boots to complete the ensemble. Black and grey were colors most of the smithers seemed to prefer when he apprenticed with them because they hid dirt very well.

Karath beside him, walked with her head held high. She knew she wasn't the prettiest green in the clutch, but she walked as though she was a queen herself. Keeping her steps even and confident, even as her eyes swirled with excitement and wonder as she took in everyone. She kept her eyes out for Baeveth to avoid sitting near her. She was still quite upset about the hatching, but she had promised to behave.

Karath turned her head to her larger mother and trilled out a greeting, a sound J'on hadn't heard her make yet. 'Thank you mother! We'll enjoy ourselves easily.' She practically pranced over to a table to sit while J'on chuckled as he heard her mutter to him only. '...as long as no one insults us.'

At his mother's compliment on his headwear, Tikth paused, his eyes becoming greener than before. I thank you, Banshidheth... But it does tickle my eyeridges so. He gave a little shake to readjust his hood, only to have it flop down over one eye. He sighed, and looked back for his rider, who had vanished in the few moments the black dragonet had taken to converse with the golden queen.

A short distance away, beyond a few tables and groups of feastgoers, Lucayr had followed his ears to the group of harpers who were already playing. He recognized the song right away. With smiles and nods for each player who looked up, he placed himself among them and waited for the next chorus before adding his gitar to the music.

Meanwhile, Tikth gave a startled chirp and looked around, shaking his head again to uncover his hood-blinded eye. He could not see Lucayr anywhere.

Bandhidheth dipped her great head in acknowledgement of Kalendol's flattery, even as she continued to speak with Kynigoth. Yours flatters well. You, too, will be mighty one day. While the green would never grow as large as she, there was more to strength than physical size. They are not especially common, no, and that is part of what makes them special.

Anali chuckled along with Kalendol. "Oh, some people will use any excuse for a party, but as far as excuses go, it's quite a good one. The first dragons born to the Wherholds, to hatch in a time where anything is possible for them. That is something worth celebrating."

Killakeeth, Xibath. Congratulations to you both, my daughters, on your excellent choices. Mine and I would be pleased to speak with you and Yours soon, whenever your new schedule allows.

Imbeleth's brief reply was cause for a flicker of amusement, as was Leszyth's hurry to catch up with his larger but equally lively brother. She glanced away to Karath as she replied, curious as to her condition after her drawn-out brawl with Baeveth, but she seemed well enough.

I am glad to hear it, Conroith. He is very brave, as are you. I look forward to seeing what you will accomplish together.

I can imagine that it would, she said to Tikth. I hope that you will not need it long.

Av'nia and Druith

She liked to think that things were going... well with having a room mate. Certainly Av'nia felt much more comfortable then before. With sharing a room that housed... all the candidates. And her room mate wasn't that intimidating either, which helped out a bunch. But then the feast was being set up and she was going to have to attend and find something nice to wear...

You'll look beautiful in whatever you choose, Niamine. Druith had told her. Many times already.

In the end, Av'nia wore a simple long sleeved shirt in white with a long dark skirt. She kept running a hand along her arm as they made their way towards the feast, the girl trying hard to stick to the wall and out of everyone's way. Except that wasn't going too well right now with a certain blue prancing at her side. Druith was excited for this... party.

It will be fun! And you have me with you. There's no need to feel so intimidated. And... you look lovely to me. He crooned, bumping his head under Av'nia's hand until she kept it here as they walked. And when they finally arrived... his eyes lit up in fascination. So many happy pairs! And people! And oh! That was Mother speaking to them! Thank you, Mother! Mine and I are well. Though Mine seems to not like the crowd. I will try and make her more comfortable.

Her eyes widened in surprise. There were... so many people! And food. The former drudge had never seen so much food before. True, she'd been enjoying a little more than usual since coming to the wherhold. But not like this! She didn't even know where to begin! "It's... all so much." She murmured, sticking close to Druith. Maybe they could hang around the back? There seemed to be less people.

Druith, on the other hand, saw two familiar siblings lurking about. Imbeleth! Leszyth! He paused, seeing another sibling bound after them, a giggle raising in his mindvoice. And Conroith! What are you three up to? His tail swished from side to side in anticipation of what the three were doing.

K'err was ready. He and Sirinth had been through what seemed like a full turn's worth of training together - the wonders of the rawness of the bond they'd shared. He'd oiled her up nice and good.

As for himself, he made sure the lute was nice and tuned. He stole back to his parents' quarters earlier that day to fetch his absolute finest - a blue tunic with diagonal patterns embroidered at the hems, a shirt that fit snugly under the tunic, but poofed out at the sleeves with silver thread around the seams. Rich, dark brown pants that hugged his legs tucked into matching boots, the cuffs just below his knees folded over showing an almost black lining. The soles were solid, the heel very modest.

He tightly braided his hair, and tied it off with a piece of red ribbon. It laid neatly down his back and bounced slightly from side to side when he walked.

Sirinth told him.

"Thanks, Sirinth," he said.

When it came time to assemble for the Feast, he found F'in, and gave him a smile.

she said to Conroith.

He laughed at F'in relaying Conroith's hope. "You better not, F'in," he said. "Well, not much. And you look really good in that. You should dress up more often." He paused. "Or all the time," he added oddly confidently.

He stepped into the party and noticed Banshidheth. He and Sirinth nodded to her in unison.

No sooner had they made it through than Conroith bolted from beside F'in. Sirinth had no such intentions. She and hers were going to sing later!

K'err reddened at F'in putting his hand on his shoulder. "It would be," he said. He followed after F'in, waving and calling to Vos. Sirinth cantored along beside him. There would be time for singing later.

Z'radi and Rotatonth

As if Z'radi was going to miss a party.
When it became clear that the Masterhandler was too cheap to pay for a proper party, Z'radi was happy to rise to the occasion. Despite this being a Benden celebration and her being from Malvren, Z'radi and Rotatonth were happy to pitch in.

Rotatonth herself did not like parties – they were wastes of time in her opinion – but work was work, and work was good. She was happy to take on the duties of ferrying in goods and entertainers. It was the most they could do, honestly: Z'radi herself didn't have much saved up. Despite the pair's practicality, Z'radi was terrible at saving.

And when she walked into the party with a big grin, it wasn't hard to see why: her riding leathers, though not flashy, were clearly of good pricy quality. Of course, she went right for the drinks...

growled Rotatonth in annoyance. The bulky, pebble-textured green was resting firmly outside the weyr and away from the party. Not that she did not like people – she was simply not a party dragon.

she retorted, joining the cheers for the new weyrlings and taking a large gulp of alcohol,

She was headed towards the harpers, when a startled chirp alerted her to the easily-hidden presence of the little black hatchling with... a hood! What a hoot! “Hello there!” she said to Tikth, obviously not expecting a reply as she toasted him, “Welcome to the world!” she laughed, oblivious to the hatchling's distress...

Vesresh

Esre's parents had dressed him in lovely clothes he had almost forgotten he had. He hadn't worn them in... ages. They'd had to be let down to account for his growth, but they looked magnificent on him: a tunic in Benden's colors that complimented his thick red hair well. He'd combed said distinctive hair into a neat part.

He had been busy helping with the dragons, and with chores in the kitchens before, but Vosin had sent him off to be cleaned up. He knew she would be surprised to see him dressed up this well – but apparently their parents had been planing.

He waited, anxiously, in the wings for the weyrlings to arrive... though, when they did, he was far too shy to applaud or cheer. Immediately, he set out to find his sisters and, finding them easily enough (Killakeeth's shining hide stood out well), he paused.

There were so many people around them now, people who had been standing on the sands but had impressed to dragons and... Vesresh shrunk back a bit. Should he really go up to them? These were heroes in the making, and he was nothing yet. He almost didn't feel like he should.

He wasn't sure where else to go, though, so the boy hung back, waiting awkwardly for some excuse to see him in one place or another...

Jamarin and Atibonth

Kynigoth!> greeted Atibonth, pleased, though he soon turned back to his mother, trilling happily in kind.

he said, curiously, he hummed thoughtfully.

he asked,

Jamarin ate warily, if uncouthly, as his dragon conversed. Food. So much food. And it was good, too! “Its...” he swallowed. “It's a...”

But the image of a guardsman had come up in his head, and had been picked up by Atibonth. Thats downright wierd thought Jamarin at the feeling, muttering into his food unhappily. He'd have to get used to it.

Mother> explained Atibonth,

Jamarin picked up another plate of food, and looked down to see his dragon, large eyes begging. asked the dragon, opening his mouth. Jamarin dropped a piece of wherry into the maw and ate the rest. He'd have to get meat for his dragon, he supposed. said Atibonth.

he said, pleased.

Jamarin licking the grease off of his fingers before wiping them on a napkin. “Sure.” he said. Why not.

commented Atibonth.

“Mmm...” he said. Normally, it was his twin that appreciated food – maybe even appreciated it too much – but Jamarin could appreciate food: he could appreciate it indeed. “Why?”

Jamarin growled, something unintelligable about manners and stupidity, but he did start towards a washbasin and begin to wash his hands a little. It was hard, indeed, to argue against good sense – which his dragon apparently had in spades. It actually made him feel a little inadequate... in a good way.

Mother. I do wish for you to see him...> the blue was excited, indeed, to have his rider meet his mother.

Jikkiri and Lagoneth

Langoneth was, grudgingly, appreciative of his mother and her tact. He was, however, distracted because, at that moment, Jikkiri had gotten him a platter of meat and was feeding him from it.

commented the brown, eating ravenously, he said, offering his rider a piece of the meat.

“I can't eat it raw.” laughed Jikkiri, “But I will eat, don't you worry.” he looked around, his eyes quickly falling on the gold and, around her, the group of weyrlings. He waved to them. “I thought I might as well feed you first, so that you'd be a little happier here.”

Langoneth grumbled, but the brown had to admit: even this noisy people-filled thing was becoming... tolerable... as his stomach became filled. He krred with pleasure at how well Jikkiri knew him. he said, gazing at his rider.

Jikkiri laughed, “Well, love, I wouldn't want you to be totally unhappy. We'll still leave when you're tired, of course.”

Langoneth, soothed by a stomachful of meat, finally listened, hearing strains of music.

The beast's ears perked up, attentive, at the sounds.
he asked.

Jikkiri frowned thoughtfully. “Music.” he said, “Wanna go listen?” he asked.

The beast was intrigued. This 'music' interested him. It's sounds were not noise, but something... more.
he said, heading for the Harpers.

The brown rumbled threateningly to make room as he moved through the crowd towards the source of the music. Jikkiri, grabbing something quickly to eat, followed suit, jogging to catch up. “'Scuse me!” he said, smiling, “Coming through, sorry!”
Hopefully, he thought, They won't hold my dragon's moodiness against him

His dragon. His.

Finally, though, they were in view of the harpers. Langoneth listened to their music and then, slowly, his eyes fading somewhat from their usual red to a swirling red-blue, he lay down, listening attentively.

Jikkiri caught up, leaning against him as he ate. “You like music, huh.” he said softly.

said Langoneth. At least, he thought so.

“Well, that's nice.” Jikkiri waved to Anybody he recognized and proceeded to eat his dinner. He himself didn't find it especially nice but, why not?

Malta and Poecileth

Parties were hard, and Malta soon found herself adrift, rather than mingling. It was a familiar situation for her, one she was sure that her dragon could easily avoid. Her dragon, though sociable, did not fit into the crowd's well... though, this being a weyr, she did try. She walked near her rider – and was the only reason why Malta was not quailing at the sight of so many people.

Poecileth let her drift. This sort of thing was good for her rider, and let her grow as a person.

she said, noticing one of the proud young greens with her bonded at a table,

Malta smiled, relieved at the long-awaited sense of direction she had been craving. She went over to the table. “Hi!” she said to J'on and Karath,, her dragon looming behind her, “May I sit with you?”

Poecileth said to Karath, pleased that Malta hadn't needed more prompting.

J'ric and Imbeleth

Imbeleth was happy to find that Leszyth was soon scampering after him. He looked over his shoulder to give a quick bugle of welcome, and asked his brother Hi! Are you looking into those interesting sounds too?

If there was a response, he didn't hear it right away because Conroith managed to blindside him and flop on one of his wings, making him stagger under her weight, and he was forced to slow his pace. He yelped in surprise, but once he turned to see what was dragging on him, he didn't mind. Oh, hi! I'm going to get Mine to tell me about that thing we can hear over there. He pointed with his muzzle towards the source of the music.

And then another voice indicated yet another sibling was joining them. Imbeleth curved his head straight back to see Druith. We're going to see what's making those sounds! Then he saw Av'nia was just hovering around near Druith. Why is yours just standing there? There's so much to see! Come, bring her along!

Since Imbeleth had been forced to slow down, J'ric was able to catch up to the hatchling. "Hey, slow down," he said, breathing hard as he jogged alongside the dragon. "I can't tell you about stuff if you're so far ahead of me."

Of course you can, Imbeleth asserted. You can just talk to me like I talk to you.

J'ric blinked, surprised he'd forgotten that. Oh...yeah. You can hear me OK? he tentatively thought to his dragon.

Yup! Imbeleth chirped. Now come on, I wanna see those things over there! They'd nearly reached the crowd around the Harpers.

Tikth was just on the verge of panic when the jovial "Hello there!" rang out. His head went straight up in surprise, and he blinked bright yellow eyes at the rider who'd spoken. He debated speaking directly to her to see if she knew where Lucayr was, but his shyness won over and he ducked back into his hood. The harper couldn't have gone far, and Tikth could feel his merriment; whatever he was doing, he was enjoying it! Tikth sent out a tentative query, fighting the urge to telepathically shout at Lucayr for walking off without him.

Busily strumming away at his gitar, Lucayr hit a slightly sharp note as Tikth's querilous thoughts touched his mind. He was able to partially mask the mistake by switching to an alternate harmony that made the note sound almost natural, then he subsided back to an easy set of chords that would allow him to concentrate on his dragon without messing up again. Tikth?

Yes, Tikth! the dragon growled in his head. Who else would it be?

You couldn't keep up? Where are you?

Where are YOU?

The harper couldn't help but find humor in the situation and cracked a smile. He spotted Jikkiri and his brown dragon approaching and decided to guide Tikth through the scenic route. The boy was a gentle soul, but his dragon certainly was not, and he dared not risk harm to his much-smaller black Tikth. He smiled again, this time at Jikkiri, acknowledging remembrance of their shared effort to help the unfortunate boy who was mauled at the hatching... and by the very same brown that now shared a bond with Jikkiri.

Leananth huffed in her rider's arms. The crimson had been oiled and shined up quite nicely. In fact, the dragon was the better looking of the pair. Her eyes were a shade of blue-green that was a stark contrast to the red of her hide.

Laenara had been bullied and forced into going to the feast. She would have preferred to stay in her room, happily involved with Nan and Redd. But her dragon had insisted, and her roommate had said she would be attending, so Lae had finally agreed to go. She had no clothes, nothing to call her own except a small wooden necklace that had been her mother's. Going to the stores, she found a plain straight brown skirt, and a plain cream short sleeved top with plain brown knee boots. One of the cavern women had smoothed her hair back. She still looked young, hardly a girl who was to turn 16 turns in just a handful of days. But she was presentable and that was what mattered to Leananth.

Laenanth told her.

They stepped into the feast hall and looked around to see who they should give their regards to... Anali was there. As were several council members. Bowing and nodding, Laenara carried her dragon to a table towards the back of the hall and seated them. Immediately, a drudge brought some meat for Laenanth and a small bowl of soup for her. "Now what?"
