[Malcarreth: 13 + 1 - 1 + 3 = 16]

The sleek blue chuckled softly. I think so? Aren't I supposed to be the one flattering you?> he asked with light amusement.

But it was grace she wanted was it? Well he had plenty of that and was rather glad that it was elegance not a show of power she was looking for first. Gathering his strength Malcarreth powered upwards in a sprint and then... stopped, wings held static and half furled. After a moment his momentum faded and he began to fall, to plunge. A slight twitch of his wings turned his course into a tight corkscrew and then as he plummeted down past Calanoth he changed course again, now looping up underneath the brown and rising still pirouetting in the air like a dancer. It had cost him distance no doubt but when the lady you were chasing asked for something you'd be a fool not to do your best to give it to her.

[Pycath: 9 - 2 + 3 = 10]

Pycath asked rhetorically. At the gold's request for a show of grace the sleek brown turned a short series of neat barrel rolls clockwise and then another anticlockwise.

[NPC Absoth 2 + 1 + 3 - 3 = 3 / NPC Morth 10 + 4 - 3 = 11]

Absoth responded with trademark cheer. Grace? Um, well, he was probably better at that than many bronzes. With another trumpet Absoth coiled over backwards in a loop-the-loop that almost made his nose touch the tip of his tail. He wobbled a bit as he tried to get back on course but he still felt rather pleased with himself.

Morth replied in his soft silken voice that tasted of copper. he added after a moment, and fire flashed through the vivid purple of his eyes as his gaze caught in particular on Absoth and Floreth.... Floreth seemed to be struggling. Interesting.

Mindful of the gold's request regardless of his pondering about the leader of fifth-three Morth strove hard for greater height, swooping from side to side as he rose and weaving around a couple of larger bronzes.

By the time he arrived S'ol was kind of out of breath; he'd had to dodge several fights in the hallways that raged variously between factions supporting the favourites to win the flight i.e. O'ail, Ko'ren, Be'man, and a couple of young up and coming bronze riders who had managed to attract a few supporters to their cause. By dint of speed, agility, and his oft cursed stature the blue rider managed to avoid getting caught up in any of them any arrived outside Shylla's weyr in record time.

Breathing hard and glancing over his shoulder in case anyone had followed he rapped sharply on the wood. "Shylla! It's S'ol! I'm here!" Well obviously he was if he was talking to her; he hoped she was too distracted to notice the rather silly utterance.

High above Zaqueth was striving to keep pace with the flight, keeping his bright white eyes trained on the other dragons as his wings pumped frantically. Usually a flight, even a senior gold flight would not have him so worried but with everything that had happened of late he couldn't help but fear something terrible was about to happen.

Sabotage (Distraction) - Directed at Evmeth

No...

Claws dug into stone and a snarl rumbled as two baleful eyes watched the glimmering gold fly. Her trail of simpering males no doubt cooing and fawning all over her pathetic pale hide. Sereth was not near rising herself. Evmeth's rising failing to trigger her own despite her staying had already proven that. It was not mating lust that had the dragon lashing her tail and baring her teeth. It was rage. Untainted anger at her rival. True Evmeth probably didn't know they were rivals, but Sereth did. With their gold stepped down she could have claimed this place as her own. Once again cementing herself as a Queen. And yet that snivelling wher had stolen it from her!

Sereth, my love, we must leave. Now. We have already lingered too long, Nersha said softly, once again trying to approach the dragon. Please, Love, I know you are angry-

I am FURIOUS! Sereth bellowed, whipping her head around to pin her rider with spinning ruby eyes. How dare she?! Sereth spat. She has no right! It should have been me! I am a Queen! But that- that- ...that- NO! Punctuating her scream with a roar Sereth launched herself from her ledge speeding into the sky after her foe. Nersha's pleas for her to return were silenced, the woman forcibly pushed from her mind as hate unbridled drove her into the sky.

Sereth made a beeline for Evmeth. She was small. She had not blooded. Yet she was fast (by modern gold standards). There was no interest in twists or tricks or luring others. Fury stoked her fire and she let it loose in the beat of her wings and the roar of challenge that emitted from her throat. Hang the system. She would be Queen when Evmeth submitted to her flight or no flight!

[Malcarreth & C'tis]

Malcarreth's series of loops ended abruptly as he caught another flash of gold out of the corner of his eye. Another gold. Another gold in the air. shaff.> This was not good, not in the least. With white and orange now swirling in with the purple of his eyes Malcarreth strove for greater height and altered his lateral course to bring him closer to the time queen too. If she attacked....

C'tis had been happily stalking the halls in search of a fight or possibly something more pleasant when his dragon swore. He promptly swore too and broke into a run, heading through the passageways down towards the gold rider Weyrs. He might not think too much of Shylla and Evmeth but they were a damn sight better than some bint who thought that she had been shelled to rule supreme. What exactly he was going to do when he reached the golds' weyrs he didn't know but hey, at least he'd be nearby when he made a decision.

[Ra'fe and Banneth]

Banneth questioned, confusion and shock tingling the voice as he managed to right himself in a sharp tense twists, wings flaring out to hover in the air. He questioned, tone frosty and clipped, the bronze's lust and need dropping down degrees by the problem they had, now. he reached out to his partner hovering, unsure what to do to break Sereth off her course.

Ra’fe replied, rapidly slinging his sword in its place and shoving his feet into his boots. What were … what was Sereth thinking? He knew Nersha, enough to know that not being the senior would be a relief. He shuddered and harden his resolve, leaving his weyr in determined strides to get to his queen rider.

Pellinorth bugled in alarm, the bronze immediately dropping back, all thought of Evmeth’s beauty forgotten as danger flashed to the fore. He might not have been the brightest of bulbs, but even he knew that this situation was not right, not good, not… proper.

His wings flared, the bronze - small, by modern standards - putting himself between the two queens, feeding on his rider’s suddenly terrified knowledge of what might happen. Not a lot scared Elane, who was too self-interested to consider others, but this was too big and too scary and definitely affected them. Evmeth had been kind to him, when she might have just laughed, and - well, Sereth was his Queen, a rock of familiarity in a strange world.

R’soua - not long R’soua - swore as she realised abruptly how high up she was… and that, unlike the lower weyrs, that there was no tunnel that would let her descend without draconic assistance. She was stuck until Kyoth came back, or until one of her green or blue-riding friends came to help her down.

Kyoth had his own problems, the young brown dismayed and more then a little confused by the sudden multiplicity of gold. The young brown reached for his rider, whose eyes widened as the band of communication between them widened. This was not good, and not right. Though he had been intending to show off for beautiful Evmeth, now he almost halted in mid-air, looking to his elders for guidance on what to do - this had never come up in anything he and ‘soua had discussed when thinking about the flight

Calanoth flashed his teeth at Malcarreth as the blue did a loop around him. His threat to his wingmate ended there for now. The blue was fooling himself as it was if he thought he could catch Evmeth. He'd have been better off chasing that odd green following them. Anyways, Grace wasn't all flashy moves and risk taking (though Calanoth was happy enough to show her that too when it was called for!) It could also be knowing when to conserve his strength and focus it into a smooth assent following her chosen path.

A scream, and a flash of gold on the edge of his vision was warning enough that something was about to go terribly. Calanoth trumpeted a warning to the other dragons of Second Wing. Protect Evmeth! He twisted his head towards Morth. He was his rival, but also his Wingleader. Morth!

Down in the tunnels of High Reaches Z'fer felt as if he'd been thrown back into his own body. He'd seen the timerider's gold rising into the air with blood in her eyes. Shirtless and unarmed he swore viciously and turned back in the direction he'd come. He could hear fighting just out of sight, a sign he'd not had the mental ability to notice before. Cal, knock her out of the sky if you can! Don't kill her but don't let them fight! That was the last thing this thrice betweened Weyr needed!

~...~

OH no. Oh SHELLS no! That was HER target and Sereth could just back the shaff off RIGHT NOW. Sanuyeth roared and banked her wings, changing her direction quickly and diving towards the miniature gold.

SANUYETH NO! Ja'line screamed the words aloud as she flung herself out of bed and dove for her clothes and swordbelt. "Toast! Fardling wherdung get your arse over here!" She summoned her firelizard in a panic. What was she supposed to do? What could she do? She had to keep Sanuyeth from attacking the gold and... what else?! Panic overrode training in her forethoughts as she threw on clothes haphazardly.

Toast creeled in distress when he appeared in the air above her head. She thrust out her arms to catch the landing firelizard and tried to force her mind to think. B'tes was her first thought but no she was no longer a weyrling. Venk? No that man was probably being beset by every person in the weyr who didn't have a dragon in the air. Ko'ren... well he was her Wingleader though she was sure he'd been otherwise engaged during the flight..."Ko'ren. Find Ko'ren. Then show me!" Ja'line thought the command very carefully at Toast and waited just long enough for him to open his mouth to chirp before launching him back into the air and between.

She shoved her feet into her boots and tore out her door. He was her Wingleader. She should go to him first in any emergency. Sanuyeth stop! Follow Morth's lead! Whether that was assent she felt or satisfaction Ja'line didn't know and was afraid to find out.

Bronze Tiaeth- Time Dragon - Modifier= -1

It pleased Tiaeth to hear his sibling. And I as always have yours, brother. The small bronze gave a fond croon is his clutchmate. The male turned his attention to the snappy green, Sanuyeth. He took no offense at her words and instead replied, "some things are an acquired taste. I prefer to think of it as being suitably aged. The bronze bugled a laugh.

The laugh turned to a cry of alarm as another gold and obviously furious rose from the weyr. Sereth, we do not need this. What was she doing he wondered? She wasn't glowing, so she wasn't having a Flight. Tiaeth moved to intercept the smaller gold. 'Sins Sereth rises though she doesn't Rise. The male informed and warned both twins.

The woman swore colorfully. What was that blasted gold doing?! Stop her or slow her down if you can Tiaeth. She felt the bronze's ascent.

Bronze Kelilayth - Time dragon

With Tiaeth's croon, Kelilayth went quiet again and focused on the flight, but of course that couldn't be it. At the cry of alarm, Kelilayth noticed Sereth right after his brother did. <Evmeth, forgive me, but your safety means more to me than catching you.> It was rather blunt and serious, but it was no time to joke around.

Vesin, having just recieved the news from Tia, <"Kelilayth! Follow Tiaeth. This is not the time for Sereth!"> She sat up in bed and looked at her twin. "Blasted Sereth!" She said out loud to Vosin. She hadn't had much interaction with Sereth or Nersha but her impression of them was not good.

Kelilayth thought he'd try to appeal to Sereth, though he figured it was nearly impossible. <Sereth, you are not doing yourself, or us time dragons any good> There were lots who didn't like them being there, and this would only increase that. <Tia, I'm on your right.> He let his clutchmate know. They had flown together in the old days they could do it again.

As each dragon performed their display, Evmeth climbed ever higher, watching each display with a discerning eye. Still she exuded warm waves upon her suitors, but it was clear already that she favored some over others, giving a particular trill of excitement over Hazmath's daring aerobatics. (+3 to your next roll!)

Despite his wide turns, Evmeth nevertheless tittered for Calanoth and his wondrous hide.

She passed a glance over to Sanuyeth and Tiaeth respectively, though she elected to ignore their flirtations, rude as they were. To the bronze and his twin Kelilayth, she pronounced,

Evmeth couldn't help it--she let out a purr of a laugh watching Banneth try his wing at graceful maneuvering.

Her eyes brightened at Malcarreth's response, and she let out an amused snort.

Pycath,> Evmeth noted, watching the brown, passion?

It was easy to find Absoth's, the way he bugled to the morning sky. Evmeth crooned as well, but it was more concerned than lustful.

Morth,> Evmeth replied, a bit of warning to her tone.

Evmeth turned sharply, a whirl of confusion in her expression as she noted the incoming Sereth. Nevertheless, it would take something more severe than a little temper tantrum to ruin her day, and while she wasn't so silly as to slow her stately ascent (the other gold was gaining on her fast) she greeted the other dragon with a soft croon, same as the others.

However, where she failed to see the threat, her suitors acted accordingly, lunging for their rather decorated guest. Eyes whirling a flash of red amid the violet, she stalled at her highest altitude yet, letting out a piercing roar. She turned her head away from the angry gold, ready to continue her flight, when suddenly she took an unexpected spiral downwards. The pale gold was quick to regain her balance, levelling out a good deal closer to the pack, but the radiant waves pulsing from her thoughts were quick to simmer into concern.

---

"No no no no! This is...not happening!"

Through the haze of the flight and the poisoned porridge, Shylla managed to stumble to the door, batting away at the latch with clumsy fingers. She practically fell into S'ol, forgetting that she'd summoned the bluerider in the first place, and in an instant she was a ball of slurred curses, trying to clamber past him and into the hallway. She found it difficult to gain purchase against him, however, and her legs were beginning to betray her, causing the small woman to slump against him even as she shouted.

"Gimme your knife, S'ol--how dare she, how dare she try to hurt my girl, I'm gonna send that harpy back to the 4th pass!"

((Evmeth has been slowed, making the new number to reach 85! You can attempt to continue the chase, or you can try to stop Sereth, but not both! Rolls and modifiers are now back to normal.))

[NPC Absoth 3 + 4 = 8 / NPC Morth 11 + 10 = 21]

At the appearance of the other gold Absoth bugled in alarm and down in her weyr O'ail shot to her feet. The bronze addressed his cry to those amongst his smaller followers who were already aloft. It should not be! How dare that stranger threaten his queen so? He couldn't spare too much attention for her however, he still had a flight to win.

O'ail rubbed her face as she struggled to focus on the faces of her supporters. "Uh." Was there anything she could get them to do that would help? She could send them to the golds' weyrs but would that help or only make things worse? Two golds in the air when one was rising, she'd only heard of it happening before and not in her lifetime that she knew of! It was not done and-

And Evmeth tumbled suddenly, tearing a cry of distress from the whip-like bronze.

_____________________

Ko'ren's pale eyes narrowed.

Moth's eyes flashed orange. <Pycath, Venorth, Jirth, Sanuyeth intercept the foreign gold; don't injure her, just keep her from advancing.> The bronze's voice reached all of second wing as he picked out the Chasing dragons he thought most likely to both obey the order to break off the chase and to succeed in the task he had just assigned them.

Orders given the bronze focused on Evemth again, wondering at her apparent inability to recognize the danger behind her.

Perhaps that was not the only danger here however; one moment Evmeth had been turning away to fly on and the next she was tumbling downward. Morth asked, confusion and concern ringing in his voice. If this flight was not a success....

Ko'ren wondered to his dragon as he watched Evmeth recover herself through his bronze's eyes; there was nothing to harm her up there. She could have merely strained a muscle of course but on the other hand-

Ko'ren closed his eyes for a moment and then opened them, fixing two of his most trusted riders with his piercing gaze. "Find the new Weyrmistress, make sure that she is unhurt... and keep her that way."

Morth added, sending a strong wave of protective feelings towards the gold as he strove to catch up with her. He would protect her. He would catch her. They would lead.

[Malcarreth: 16 + 10 - 2 = 24]

As Morth gave his orders Malcarreth sent a feeling of acknowledgement and twisted in the air to race on after Evmeth again. He had been about to address the rising gold again when she faltered in the air; Malcarreth added his cry of concern to many others. What had just happened? Was Shylla under attack?

C'tis replied, feeling the rest of the thought as he skidded around a corner, shoved a pair of tussling fourth wing riders out of his way and ran on. Forget the foreign gold, find Shylla. After the whole eye thing with T'gall and and the perpetrator never found seeing a healthy gold wobble like that in the middle of a Flight - a critical flight - was worrying. Would the same person do it or-?

It was hard to think as himself, hard not to be consumed by the Chase.

-or was the new gold rider responsible? Was this her grab for power? Was she attacking Shylla even as her gold pursued Evmeth? "Shitting cocking arse balls," C'tis hissed between his teeth, which made him feel a little bit better about the whole shaffing mess.

With his rider taking what they thought the best course of action Malcarreth focused fully on Evmeth again. he assured Evmeth, distant thunder rumbling in his voice. He might think her a fool especially after that mess with the Fall - that little incident would long be remembered no matter what title she took - but much as she was a fool she was his fool and this was her flight; that miserable streak of piss that called herself a Queen had no business interfering with it.
