"Uhm. Maybe." He looked unsure, though, something about that idea -- shared property of a sorts -- leaving him a bit off-balance. After a moment, Ever ducked out from Zeke's grasp: still had to finish the rounds and make sure nothing else was a mess, but the other man could always follow. "A good place to start, anyway, since someone's going to have to walk me through the finer details of use, and it sounds a bit like you just volunteered." He shot a look back as he said it, false innocence layered over a flash of amusement.

Zeke's arm moved, letting Ever get by easily, and he fell into step behind him. "Maybe because I am volunteering." A pointed grin would be there to meet that false innocence as the Lifer glanced back at him. "So how much of the library have yo already covered?" His gaze dropped to the shelf beside him, and he'd nudge a book spine into order, grab a scrap of paper with some scratchy print scrawled over it. Any out of place books were looked over, and if they lived in any of the rows near him he slid it home, or held onto them in not, so he could put them away.

"Most of it, but I've been working as I go --" so they could pretty easily blow through and snatch up the abandoned papers, a handful of books to go back on the shelves, two errant candy wrappers. Someone had to clean up, definitely, and Ever didn't seem to mind. He did it in an easy sort of way, knew where to check quickly for things that might have slipped through the cracks. Or where people might have hidden things. He never argued that Zeke should leave, at least. An extra pair of hands was definitely welcome. "...I just want it for the classes, is all. The computer, I mean."

Zeke kept more or less close, grabbing papers, throwing wrappers away, and handing over books to be put away deeper into the library than he had wandered. Ever had done this before, he knew where everything went, efficient. "I figured. So you won't really need anything fancy. A netbook would work, I think. If you can get past it being on the small size." His head tilted, thoughtful. "Best for you as far as price and performance goes, for what you need it for." They came in 12", which wasn't too bad. To the Mist everything looked neat and tidy. He lifted a brow, questioningly, towards Ever.

"I've got glasses..." So small size shouldn't be a problem. Ever shrugged at him, looking slowly around the room, hands sliding into his pockets instead, and then nodded a bit. It was, he thought, good enough, but he didn't move yet: just blinked down at Zeke. He wasn't exactly sure where they were going. "Maybe it would be smarter if you got whatever you got and I just look at it for a bit. Christ." He was hopeless, and at least Ever knew it. He offered a brief twitch of a smile. "The machine at work was just big buttons that you pushed and it all went into the system..."

Zeke's smile got wider at the mention of Ever's glasses. He personally thought the Lifer looked good with his glasses on. It was so seldom something he got to bear witness to. "Is it clean?" A touch of impatience, maybe, but he was smiling. "You're a little hopeless, technologically." The smile grew into a smirk, teasing. "It's kind of cute." A thought popped into his head, expression smoothing. "Did you eat?" Ever had eaten the night before, but not much. He was notably better, more relaxed, more himself, but something was still off, and that something came with a lingering concern.

"I had some toast..." And then he finally kicked into motion again, with a flick of eyes back to Zeke. Ever'd had toast, sure, a few hours ago, but he was pretty well-aware that wasn't what Zeke had meant. And so he shrugged. It'd be food, then, and he didn't mind, he just also didn't seem much to care. "I'm guessing you didn't, yet?" He'd pause just to grab his own books, three he was taking with him, on his way toward the door.

Hazel eyes narrowed slightly at the answer, but Ever was already moving. With a grunt Zeke followed, catching up to the other man with easy strides. Being barely an inch apart had it's benefits. He'd have preferred to be taller, in this case, but it didn't really matter. "I had something quick before I met you, but that had been..." He checked his watch, frowning. "Hour or so?" How long had they been in the library? It was late afternoon now. A little late for lunch, but not quite late enough for dinner. Although, if they ate now there would be no need to worry about food for the rest of the night.

"Uh huh." Outside, Ever paused a moment, looked to Zeke -- and then, with another easy, comfortably flash of a smile, put the books in his arms. It freed Ever up to root around in his pockets, to fish out a cigarette. He could down the nicotine in a rush as they walked, this way, without worrying about setting library books on fire. "What were they serving? Or did you eat out of your stash." He asked it around the cigarette as he worked to kindle the end, both hands cupped to protect it from the winds.

That smile again. Zeke took the books, tucking them under his arm as Ever fished for his smokes. "Not sure, I think pot roast." He'd grabbed a sandwich without actually looking at the hot wells. "Smelled savory." Mention of his stash had him smirking. "I was working with other divisions, so wasn't in my room." No reason to dip into the snacks he had hidden away in his desk.

"Rice or noodles, I wonder." It was a distant thought, though, looking back to Zeke as he drew smoke into his lungs, maybe thinking about rings and french inhales and shotguns -- he blew it out again gracelessly, almost aggressively, away from the other man. "...you did a mission. Sahara. Is that the only one?" At least there was none of that lingering distance or uncertainty. He just shrugged, flicking the cigarette absently between his fingers as he walked.

"Maybe both." He watched the smoke swirling away from him, a brow raised possibly also thinking about rings, and french inhales, and shotguns. The taste of smoke. He blinked at the change of topic, but he nodded. "Yeah, so far. I expected they'll send me on another one soon." Shoulders rolled. "If that's normal, missions being fairly regular. "

Whatever had been the purpose behind Ever's questions, now he just replied with a nod, absent and almost distracted, halfway looking back toward Zeke to watch the way he moved. Carrying the books, and something about that was funny. Ever had to smother a smirk, and didn't quite manage. "You'll sort it out. Let's grab the food and go, I think we can manage that." Now he stretched out his legs to move more quickly, and set to the cigarette in earnest, to make sure it was finished by the time they hit the cafeteria.

Auburn brows arched at that look, questioning. "And what's so funny?" He'd take the good humor, even if it was at his own expense. More concerned for the Lifer's mental well being than any false pride. "Go where?" It came out low, edged, as he sped to match that quick pace.

"I was thinking we'd have a nice picnic on the hill." For a moment, maybe, it'd seem like Ever was serious: wide-eyed as he looked back at Zeke. But before the end of the sentence it had melted away to something amused instead, dissolved into laughter. Neither of them was the picnic type. Or, at least, not together. "We could sit and talk about the weather." He couldn't even imagine, shaking his head as he finished off his cigarette and flicked it away, and his expression said where do you think instead.
