Her daggers were up and she felt ready, but when his sword loomed nearer, she flinched on instinct again. The hit was true and she fell backwards onto her a**, the daggers clattering to the ground. She groaned and said, "Much better." This was her first fight after everything that had happened and she was understandably much weaker. It didn't stop her from picking the daggers back up and adjusting her stance. "Keep it comin' I gotta hit those." hp: 35/50 dmg: 7

Ripley had noticed she flinched. It was obvious; with someone of her size, she should have been able to dodge, at least some of it. He understood why of course, but it still didn't diminish the fact that she had.
"I'll try." He could promise that much at least, as he swung again, though this time he was a little too far away to do any serious damage to her. It also didn't help much that he had a heavy, cumbersome sword while she had two light daggers and quick, sun-training feet. HP: 34/50 Damage: 3 (well at least he's hitting, that's what's important)

Finn was half watching the fight, half looking through his medical bag to make sure he had everything that might be needed. Chel wasn't the first person to threaten him, she wouldn't be the last, but as long as her name wasn't Caelius, he didn't really give a s**t what she said (at least he had learned when it came to the death lead, though).
There was nothing in his expression when he did watch what to show how he felt one way or another on what was happening. Of course it was good to see that Ripley was improving, mostly because it meant that maybe the other man might live a little longer, which meant Finn could continue to have fantastic sex.
Obviously he had priorities.
Once he was sure he had everything that was needed, he settled down to watch, crouching down and resting his arms on his legs, a small smirk on his lips.

Chel frowned as Ripley barely scratched her, moving fluidly out of the major swing of the blade. It hadn't occured to her just how much she had learned in her time here at Deus; Ripley's moves were weak and telegraphed, she could see all of them coming. She ducked under a second swing and slashed down his backside, rolling to the left to avoid any retaliation. She sorely wished Finn and Jack would see her like this more often; maybe then they'd stop calling her stupid. They probably wouldn't. Especially since she was breathing too hard now. Tenebrae was stirring in her mind, reciting energy outputs. She was, as always, pushing too hard. "C'mon Albino ..." she panted, "Yer better than this, I know it." Hp: 32/50 Dmg: 12

He let out a hiss as her daggers pressed down his back, and twisted in an attempt to take a swing at her before she got too far away; the end result was a weak, glancing blow.
The new nickname made his brow twitch, just a little bit.
"I'm not." He said finally to both the name and the comment, though for the latter, it would have been obvious by now. "And I can give you a list of reasons why." Starting with Wilhelm's size; he trained often, he fought whenever he could, but his weapon was still too heavy for him. Too cumbersome. It was a disconnect between weapon and wielder.
"But I'm working on it." Slowly. Painfully. Annoyingly. HP: 22/50 Damage: 1 (AT LEAST HE'S HITTING)

There were equal parts of him that wanted to either laugh or sigh at Ripley at the moment. While he thought about keeping his silence for the duration of the fight, he decided to break and say something.
"Don't worry, Ripples. You're good at other things."
No, he wasn't going into details, but there was a hint of amusement in his tone when he said it.
He'd have to remember to offer to spend time helping him on the training field after this.

Chel shrugged. "Oh. Well that's okay too. You put a book in my hand and I'm ********>." She could definitely empathize with not being able to do something. "Good on you for tryin' man."
It didn't mean she was going to go any easier, nor did it mean she was unfocused. Tired and dropping quickly yes, but going easy? No.
She was going to take another stab at Ripley when Finn opened his big mouth. One of her daggers went flying and purposefully hit the sand near is leg. Chel's aim was too good for Finn to think she was actually trying to hit him. "Yo Fiona we get it, you stick your d**k in him." She rolled her eyes because for one day of her life, she was not going to take any of Finn's s**t. Which was probably a bad decision in and of itself.
Regardless, she turned back to Ripley with intent and went for a stabbing kill. At the last moment her bracelet began beeping loudly, filling the air with its noise and she flinched. The result was a weak stab from the singular dagger. "Ignore it," she told them both. "Does that all the time. ********' hard to sleep with, but it don't do nothin'."

Finn picked up her dagger and threw it somewhere far away along the sandy beach, where it either stuck in the ground or skidded in the sand. He didn't know, because he didn't care enough to watch where it went.
He did continue to smile pleasantly though.

Finn's comment was met with silence, though he did scratch his cheek with his middle finger, in perfect line of the other man's sight.
"Thanks." Chel's acceptance of his failures was a pleasant surprise, and he at least offered a small smile in return. Though he didn't necessarily want to believe that she was that much of a failure at books. Books couldn't hurt you, but sharp pointy projectiles could.
"I'm better at research and intel." Ripley said on the coat tails of Chel's oh-so-charming out of what she thought Finn had meant. His coat, when he wore it, bore the symbol of Death Division, after all. "That's all he meant. Moving on." He was happy enough to avoid any potential for having to listen to other people talk about his sex life. The way she spun on him though, that made it easy to conveniently overlook the way Finn retaliated to the threatening dagger toss. Not that he would have said anything about it, anyway.
The sudden beep of her bracelet caught him off guard as well, making what he attempted to be a blocking attack into just as much of a glancing blow as she had given him.
"I know." He confided. "I've worn it, too." HP: 20/50 Damage: 2 ok ripley come on

That was actually, for once, all Finn had really meant by it. It was like Ripley was starting to know him better or something.
Weird.

"Yeah I'm so sure," Chel responded with a very embellished roll of her eyes. Regardless of what they said or thought, Chel (falsely believed she) knew exactyl what Finn had meant. Ripley's next comment caught her off guard, even as she parried one of his blows, knocking the blade to the side and stabbing forward with her dagger. "You did? When?" Chel blinked a few times, offering Ripley her own small smile. It was nice to find solidarity in an odd place. Hp: 29/50 Dmg: 10

Ripley shook his head; he could have told Chel exactly how she was wrong, but instead he stayed quiet. It was a topic better left for another day, or so he imagined.
Wilhelm was knocked to the side, forcing him to let go with one hand lest the weapon take him with it. It worked to his advantage though, as Chel stabbed forward. Ripley's immediate response was to reach up quickly with his free hand to grab her wrist, preventing her from embedding the dagger in him fully, but sadly not enough to stop a couple inches of blade from his chest.
"March. For a month." He gasped out, gripping her wrist and pulling back on it, to get the blade out of his chest. "<********>." He was starting to hurt, a lot. HP: 14/50 Damage: 0 ripley why

"Ah, for the zombie thing?" She pulled the dagger from his chest with an almost frightening ease, not even looking at it because she was so used to the motion. "Least that wasn't yer fault." Then she held up the dagger in front of herself and said, "C'mon I gotta practice defense too anyways." She smiled at Finn as if to say, yes this will take longer get over it. "No. For standing up for Taym." And, considering the thanks he had gotten since - which was a whole lot of none with a side of reasons Taym should have taken out instead. He had learned his lesson, and that amounted to trust no one, back no one.
"Very well." It wasn't Finn's time he was worried about wasting; it was his own. He was already sick of fighting, and wanting nothing more than to do back to his books and generally not having his inadequacy shown in very plain language in front of him.
He swung Wilhelm again, and hissed as the wound in his chest burned in response. HP: 14/50 Damage: 1 ripley plz

Finn could really care less how long it took , as it wasn't like he had anything better slated for this time of day. When Ripley hissed in pain and swore, however, he had thought for a brief moment that it might be over.
His eye swept over the man from where he still crouched. In first aid, one of the first things to do was to ask, so he did just that.
"Are you okay?" He called out, though was pretty sure that it was likely just a false alarm, as the other man was....well, still moving and speaking.
