Too much quiet

Candace's free hand came up to cup his cheek. "Shh," she cooed softly. She pulled him to her, never pulling her hand from his and instead pressing the back of his hand against her chest over her heart while pulling him close against her with her other arm. "I'm here."

She buried her face against his neck. "It's just you and me. Only us. Atropos and Chama would tell us if we weren't alone, and neither have them have done that." She kissed his throat. "Do you want to talk? Or do you want distraction?"

Let it Go:

Dakota could feel the claustrophobia of the house weighing on him. He had never been fond of rain as a child, or storms. It just meant he was trapped.

He always felt trapped.

His hand stilled against the mind game puzzle book, as he leaned back from the dining room table to look at her.

He looked at her, face blank. "Why?" And then his head turned, "As a kid?"

Arrival

Candace laughed. "You're not supposed to scare the fish away! Mm, fine~. You win." She grinned. That was more like him. A glimmer of hope.

"Perhaps, Mister Rainstar," she purred as he pulled her close. Candace closed her eyes and moved her arms to slide them around his middle, tugging his shirt up so she could slip her hands under it. "Can you blame me? Alone with my husband, a little vacation getaway from the stresses of work, where no one can hear him make me scream~?" She grinned and playfully nipped at his earlobe. "I could go into detail on how if you like."

Too much Quiet:

"It's a ******** dream." He murmured even though he knew this was real. "I keep thinking this is a dream and it's cruel. I'll wake up Candace.." And he looked at her now, "But you won't be there. And neither will the woods..."

He wanted to be distracted, but he also wanted to talk.

"I just...want to forget about it." He closed his eyes, "I don't want this to be a dream..."

Let it go

It was the opposite for Candace.

"I used to have nightmares as a kid. A bloody-handed man grinning down at me with too many teeth..I still have it every now and then. But." She uncurled from her little cozy nook to set her coffee down on the table. "When it rains, things like blood washes away." Candace reached for his hand to tug him from his chair and hopefully to the front door.

"So I associated rain with safety. Monsters couldn't get to me when it was raining, they would wash away." Candace slipped on a pair of sneakers she had left by the front door, giving Dakota the chance to do the same before she opened the door and stepped out into the rain. "Eventually I outgrew it, got really vain, cared too much about how I looked to others."

The rain was already flattening her well styled hair, plastering it and expensive clothes to her face and body. She looked over her shoulder at Dakota with a smile.

Crystal Clear

Candace smirked right back at him. "Thought you might." Purple eyes drifted down to his shirt. "Take it off," she said softly. That smile and comment was a start. A little bit of progress. Another glimmer of hope. She had five days. Five days to bring her husband back.

If he didn't take his shirt off he would find his lovely little wife shoving him into the water for his defiance, grinning all the while.

Morning

She smelled coffee, and sure enough there appeared Dakota. Thank god.. Candace smiled, still groggy with sleep as she shook her head and held her arms out toward him, making grabby hands at Dakota. "Nah, not yet. Surprised you opted for regular coffee instead of a shot of Starbucks."

Too much quiet

"It's not a dream," she assured him in a firm but warm tone. Candace gently held his chin to make him look at her and only her. "This isn't a dream. Though I'm flattered this would be what you dream about. What can I do to prove you're awake?"

Candace squeezed his hand. "Don't you feel my heartbeat? How tightly I'm holding you? My perfume? My shampoo? Do you smell any of that? This isn't a dream, Dakota."

Too much quiet:

"You don't understand Candace..." He swept her into his arms, burying his face into her neck. He could smell her, he could feel her, he could taste her.

Just like the woods.

It would be the cruelest escape from the reality of the time, the cruelest way to break him. And it would. It would give Scavenger exactly what he had been trying to do.

"He would do this, he could. He'd've found a way, and dug so deep into my brain that he could do this." He clenched his hand tightly into her shirt. "Because he liked my spirit, liked my fight. What greater trophy then finally breaking it?"

Let it go:

"Shadows?" He cocked his head, listening to her intently. "I've heard that, Rain is suppose to be cleansing, hey wait a minute..." He trailed after her, slipping on his shoes and raising a brow at her move into the rain.

Sometimes he felt the same. Like the earth would take all the monsters away if he buried deep down. Mother nature, was one of the few things he did pay tribute too.

"You're gonna catch a cold you know..." He followed after her like he would, because he was forever a puppy, never not a puppy.

"I think you are the prettiest thing in the rain..." He ran his hand through her hair, pushing the wet strands away from her face.

Morning:

Dakota eyed the grabby hands before mulling it over. The idea was to set coffee aside, crawl into the bed, let her have her wicked morning ways with him. Instead he rested a hip on the door jamb, giving her a thoughtful look.

She was super cute in the morning, and even though he had already been up for hours, and probably on his third or fourth cup of coffee, he opted not to share that detail.

Finally he came over to her, setting her own cup down on the night stand for when she did want it.

"It'll be easier on my stomach if I stick to light coffee until I get used to regular food again." He cocked his head, as if it was normal to say get used to regular food. Sometimes his stomach still didn't handle liquids well.

"How do you feel about a hike?"

Crystal Clear:

"Whoa." Dakota raised an eyebrow at her. "Stripping me down in a lake Candace? Didn't your parents teach you about flashing the neighbors?" He frowned at her look, shifting to shallower waters.

"I don't want too."

Arrival:

Dakota couldn't blame her, so he pushed his mouth roughly against her, backing her into the nearest object.

"I prefer a hands on demonstration." He tugged at her own shirt, lifting it up.

Crystal Clear

"Yes, actually. However.." She followed him, grinning. "There are no neighbors to flash~. Just your wife, and quite frankly I like being flashed by you it's quite nice."

A pause. Maybe forcing him wasn't a good idea. "Why not?" She asked more gently.

Too much quiet

It bothered her to be told she didn't understand something, but any annoyance she could have felt was knocked away by being pulled up in his arms. Candace frowned, closing her eyes and nuzzling her face into his hair. His short hair. She missed when it was long. ******** Ryan.

"I'd like to think that even in a dream I would never allow myself to be used against you. You know me better than that," Candace whispered softly into his ear. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, rocking gently from side to side with Dakota and refusing to let him go. What could she do to help him? To convince him it wasn't a dream? He would likely turn down any attempts and brush them off as unreal..

So Candace did literally the only thing she could think of. She pinched his shoulder. Hard. Pinching people in dreams was always supposed to be the 'guaranteed' way of waking them up, right?
