I'm in the race but I've already won
And getting there can be half the fun
So don't stop me till I'm good and done,
Don't you try to rain on my perfect day

Maddie laughed when Daniel did, smiling happily. "Let a cute guy cook for me? Sounds like a dream. Though, I would like to help, if I can. It might be fun, no?" She blushed a bit, twirling a blond curl around her finger. He mentioned heading upstairs, so she nodded, then thought. "I don't really have anything I can't buy later. I would rather stay in your company, if you don't mind. If you do, however, I can always find something to buy..." She winked, smiling slyly.

Wake up, don't tell me it's just a dream
'Cause when I've had enough you'll hear me say,
Now don't you try to rain on my perfect day,
Nothing's standing in my way on this perfect day,
Nothing can go wrong.
It's the perfect day, tomorrow's gonna come too soon
I could stay, forever as I am on this perfect day

Daniel smiled like an idiot at Maddie’s perfect hair. It was kind of the most obvious flirting he’d ever seen but she hardly minded. She’d just called him cute and blatantly told him that she’d rather stay with him. He most certainly didn’t mind that and could say he felt the same way. It was like he’d only known her for a few moments but he was already feeling a connection toward her, and he really rather enjoyed it. Somehow he felt as though she understood him in the weirdest way, but he was just weird like that. It was one of his defining features. “No…really that’s great. I’m good, we can go…whenever.” He muttered, laughing awkwardly. “You’re welcome to help if you really think you can manage to keep up with me.” He said with a wink, desperately hoping he didn’t somehow insulting her, not exactly sure how he could manage that but he had some pretty amazing talents to do things like that. “Though I mean really if you do want to buy something I won’t mind, Benjamin might be a little upset if you leave getting something…” Daniel stopped and bit the tip of his tongue, “Benjamin is my brother…he owns…the…shop.” He muttered, realizing much of what came out of his mouth didn’t make one lick of sense but he truthfully didn’t mind. He was just quirky…and weird. He also muttered, and stuttered, and had this terrible ability to point out his oddities. He smiled awkwardly again and hoped any of those words made any sense. “Yep.” He muttered, rocking back and forth on his heels.

Maddie couldn't help but chuckle at Daniel's responses. He said she could help if she could keep up, which brought a smirk to her face. "I think I can manage. Though, my wearing heels may tilt the advantage your way. Oh, and the fact that you cook a load more often than I. I think the last thing I actually cooked was chicken noodle soup." She thought about it, then laughed, not really caring if she "kept up" or not. She wasn't good under pressure of any sort, and stress made her head spin... so why was she so worried about keeping up with Daniel? When he mentioned a fellow called Benjamin, she blinked, then grinned. "We'll just not tell Benjamin, eh? And if he catches us, I'll just say I was window shopping. It usually works. Or, y'know, I can buy something later. I'm not worried about your brother, honestly." She gave a small shrug, still smiling. She looked curiously at Daniel, part wondering if he was about to tip over.

Annabeth had ended up not entering the shop the other month. She had talked with Cydney for quite a while the other day and decided the heck with it. She'd do it another day... Well, when things don't go according to plan... They really don't go according to plan... Thinking of the troubles with a student last month just made her sigh and shake her head. She couldn't believe sometimes, when students were difficult to deal with at such a young age. It was upsetting. She shook the thoughts away as she looked between some of the scarves and things. Just some stuff that might work for her niece. But at the same time, she couldn't help but think that it was great to see Cyd again after so much time. She would have to get together for tea or something with her. It would be fun don't you know? She was a party animal right. And who knew what would happen! Maybe she could find out about the other girl's love life or something?!

With that in mind, she ran her hands over one of the scarves and then headed over to some of the supplies. Maybe her niece would like some gear? New gear? She just wasn't sure. "Uh... Hello? Is anyone here who could help me?" She called looking around.

Benjamin was sitting in the backroom, plucking at the strings of his violin. He was attempting to compose something or another. He did this often but he never really accomplished anything. He usually only got a few measures before something else required his attention. He had brewed a large pot of tea and was more than half way through it, though they was hardly rare when he was trying to focus. He lifted his bow and ran it over the strings, playing over what he had. He listened closely to the sound that rang out through the small room and easily relaxed. There was something supremely calming about playing the violin, especially when it was something that he had made himself. He took in a deep breath and continued to listen. Another sound distracted him and he stopped. He listened to the steps of a person that had entered into his shop, it seemed to be a woman by the sound of it. He bit his lip slightly and continued to listen. He took another sip of his tea but was soon drawn out of the room when a voice, a woman's as he had suspected, asked if anyone was there to help. "Yes hello, how can I help you" He asked suddenly as he stepped into the store.

”It's spinning,” Savannah murmured softly; the tips of her fingers supported the weight of a glass crystal ball as the reflection of her half a dozen rings collided within the sphere. ”You can see the stars explode.” Dark messy hair curled over her hunched shoulders, tucked away in the corner of the shop beside the moon and star charts.

”Focus, Savannah, honestly,” Rolling his eyes, Tristan counted out the sickles and galleons to cover his sister's supplies: glass phials, brass scales, and a telescope, the few random oddities they hadn't already collected or didn't already have spares of at home. He pivoted with a squeak from his Converses as he hauled their satchel, which clinked and clunked with every step, across the store to snap his sister back down to earth. ”Ayup, Vannah, you ready to go?”

”Hmm,” she hummed thoughtfully as she placed the sphere back on its pedestal and flashed a tired smile with her head tilted. ”Your zip's down,” she pointed out, crooked teeth shining as she watched the wrinkles around his brows and nose darken with shadow and panic.

”Bullocks! ********. s**t.” He cursed, then scrambled to rip up the zipper of his blue jeans and fumbled to try and play it off and look cool while still arranging his flannel long sleeve and the lacerating knapsack that had twisted around his wrist. ”How long have you been letting me walk around like this?”

”....If you really have to ask, then you'll never know.”

”You can't just say that rubbish every time you don't want to answer my question.”

”Can't I?” she fixed him with a hard stare as they walked to the exit, ”Can't I?”

                                                                  What else do you need?

Sybil saw what she was doing. She probably didn’t realise it, but Sybil did. Ever since what had happened at Hogsmeade Station Lexine had been on guard, she’d been hiding herself, and Sybil couldn’t stand it. She watched as her sister tugged nervously at her collar, trying to hide the bandage on her neck, she watched as the girl shifted her weight several times, looking around the shop making sure no one was staring at her. Sybil couldn’t believe how ridiculous Lexine was being about this.

No one cares, ya’know... Sybil muttered. Lexine looked at her questioningly; Sybil only rolled her eyes. You know what, forget it... Sybil knew she should’ve been supportive, she should’ve been at Lexine's side reassuring her, but there was just...something about the whole thing that bothered her. Either way, Sybil decided against saying anything about the situation.I just need to get a few more phials… She murmured, starting off in that direction.

Sybil was quick to snatch up a few glass phials before something caught her attention – a rather small glass ball sitting not too far from the phials and scales. Lexine must have followed her sister’s gaze, as she tapped Sybil on the shoulder and saidYou do know mum and da’ probably wouldn’t care if you got one. Hell, they got me one In my first year because of my memory… She joked, giving her sister a lopsided smile that somehow looked out of place on Lexine’s face. Sybil blinked a few times before looking curiously back at the balls, then grabbing one, but not before murmuringAt least my memory isn’t near as terrible as yours… Lexine laughed, nudging her sister.Well, a bad memory runs in the Vance family. I think Evan’s the only one who can remember shite. Sybil glanced up at her sister as the two walked across the store to pay.

As soon as Lexine took control of the payment, Sybil wandered off towards the front of the shop. She stopped every few steps to examine an oddity on the shelves, but continued forward for the most part. Sybil was paying very little attention to what was going on around her and wasn’t watching where she was headed either, caught up in her thoughts. She was just thinking about returning to Hogwarts when she walked straight into someone. It took Sybil a moment to actually realise she’d walked into someone, and when she finally did she jumped back suddenly, her face beginning to burn red.By Merlin…I’m so sor- She stopped midsentence as she stared up at the person she’d just walked into.Tristan? She muttered, blinking a few times. Yep, that was definitely Tristan and…Who’s this? She asked, motioning to the girl beside him. Of course, the way it came out, it barely sounded like a question.Oh, and hello. How has your summer been? I know you’re really big on proper conversation starters. Sybil joked. Once again her words came out deadpan, but she managed a small smirk to at least try and signify it was in jest.

【 OOC 】 Sybil's just a dork that doesn't watch where she's going...I dunno, it seemed funny at first, but then I realised I'm just tired xD

An odd look suddenly crossed on Savannah's knitted brows; Tristan noticed it immediately, especially as she moved to step backward and hide in his shadows just as a sudden involuntary bump, had knocked him half a step forward, nearly enough to stumble over his feet. ”Sybil!” He met the Ravenclaw's momentary confusion with his own blend of shock. At her next words, he couldn't help but try to stifle back an amused scoff; her question lacked the expression of uncertainty to really even be called a question, but it was hard not to deny the shadow that was barely peeking over the top of his shoulder to eye down the Vance sisters' from afar. ”This is my sister, Savannah,” Tristan artfully side stepped, catching his sister unaware and in a momentary panic as she darted her head around in hopes of a quick escape, but didn't seem to act any further on the impulse. ”Savannah, this is one of my year mates, Sybil—who's apparently all too aware of my bollocky bullshite.” He gestured with an open hand. ”I'm assuming that's your sister then, right?” It wasn't a hard assumption—it would've been easier if the older girl had been wearing her Ravenclaw jersey with her name stitched on the back—but when has life ever been easy?

”My brother does love to shovel s**t around,” Savannah confessed, immensely curious of the auras filling the room, she tilted her head at a crooked, ravenous angle and blinked often. ”That I do,” Tristan chimed in cheekily, and even though his tone was light hearted and his smile wide, his shuffling feet and twitching fingers told a different story. ”Summer's been pretty...dull, I suppose. How's yours? Our mum's been a right nutter ever since... y'know... the train ride...” His voice trailed off, but Savannah was quick to try and change the tide of conversation. ”We just finished grabbing the last of our school supplies, mind if we tag along with you lot for a while? Our mum's been in Madam Primpernelle's for like the past hour, I can't go back in that rubbish shop.” If the siblings hadn't been so desperate, she probably would've never asked, and he would've never let her finish that sentence without accidentally tripping and smacking her upside the head with his rucksack—ruddy hell that beauty shop just smells too much like old women and their musky cats.

At Tristan’s exclamation, Sybil couldn’t help but to raise an eyebrow. Did she really surprise him that much? She didn’t take him as one to be easily frightened…then again, you couldn’t understand someone completely from just talking to them on occasion. She stared at the young brunette as Tristan introduced her – Savannah – and nodded slightly. She did a quick once-over of her features – Sybil was surprised to see how panicked the girl looked at being introduced – then looked back to Tristan.I can see the resemblance. She murmured. She attempted a smile, but failed miserably and only managed to make one pull at the corners of her lips at the comment following Tristan’s introduction of her.Pleasure to meet you, Savannah.

Turning slightly, Sybil caught sight of Lexine still standing at the register, still touching at the bandages on her neck. She sighed and turned back.Yes, it is indeed. Of course, I’d be more surprised if you didn’t know her; being a Beater it’s likely you know all the Seekers rather well. She joked. And yes, I am very aware of your brother’s bullshite. It’s not hard, really, you’d have to be incompetent not to realise it. She muttered, cocking an eyebrow. Sybil stared at Savannah for a while longer before turning her attention to Tristan once again. There was something off about the younger girl – was it the way she was standing? Or was it the way she was looking at Sybil? Then again, Sybil felt something off about Tristan upon first speaking with him…maybe it had something to do with the Hastings? She wasn’t sure…but she was curious.

Sybil nodded, really what else should she have expected? The whole deal at the Station had everyone up in a tither, didn’t it?Just the same. My parents pretty much have Lexine, Evan and I on lockdown…then again, considering what happened… Sybil trailed off, looking to see if Lexine was coming yet. Luckily she was still standing at the counter.I think they have a right to be a little mad about it. She sighed, frowning slightly.

Lifting her eyebrows, Sybil shrugged. She almost dared to smirk at the thought of the two hanging out in Madam Primpernelle’s with their mother.I wouldn’t mind. Lexine and I have pretty much gotten everything for school, but we could just walk around. I could probably even ask Lexine if she really has to be around…then again, she’s just as paranoid as my parents… She sighed, getting a little quieter at the end. It wasn’t like she hated Lexine it was just, as of late, she’d been rather…overbearing…

                                                                  User Image

It was a sheepish little laugh that trailed off his tongue, caught somewhere between 'you didn't surprise me' and 'when the hell did you get there?'. Tristan's always on guard; it's hard not too when you've been face to face with the monsters that are supposed to be hiding under your bed—it's not the same fairy tale anymore if they can make you bleed. Tristan chose to blink as an immediate response; Savannah hadn't heard the initial murmur, she seemed too distracted; dilating pupils shrunk in and out of focus, eyes always moving. If she had heard, she deigned all reactions as too much effort, and so settled for none but a cryptic utterance ”the dose makes the poison,”—until Tristan's elbow noticeably jammed into her side, anyways. ”A pleasure,” she iterated loudly, glanced sideways at her brother for approval before continuing on. ”It is...a pleasure...” a painted smile of innocence fluttering over her lips, ”for now,” she muttered then veered to turn away.

Tristan, meanwhile, decided to pretend he hadn't heard, and could only hope Sybil would follow the lead. ”Right? Well.. know 'em enough to bludgeon 'em, anyways.” he quipped back haughtily; never quite able to stop the swell in his chest from puffing up with pride. It isn't every day a first year earns a starting position on the quidditch team; much less in the house of backstabbing serpents. (Surprisingly, he's heard worse stories about Gryffindor in that regard. Shame.) ”Or deaf,” Savannah added, much to her brother's dismay. ”Oi, no need to whip out the pitch forks and torches, ladies,” they were ganging up on him already; Tristan wasn't the least bit amused. Especially since it only cemented the similarity between the two; he noticed it from the very first day they spoke in Charms—it was morbid detachment, ”me mum's got that job taken care of, you mates can rest easy.”

Tristan offered a morose shrug when the conversation had rambled along to recent news; he didn't believe one terrorist attack should warrant a complete halt to life—though perhaps he shouldn't say those exact words out loud—life's too short to live it in fear. No one in the family seems to understand, even Savannah, on her best days, could only imitate the thrills of life for so long. ”Who cares?” Tristan decided with a derisive tone, channeling something deeper. ”It happened. It's done. All we can do is move on.” Savannah eyed him wearily, though remained a mute presence at his side until she found her opportunity to charge in with her desperate plea and gratitude. ”Ugh, ********' brill',” she sighed with relief. ”Anything, anywhere would be lovely... Maybe the sweets shop? Or ice cream? You're choice.”

Poison is in everything, and no thing is without poison. The dosage makes it either a poison or a remedy. Sybil muttered, staring blankly at Savannah, her head tilted at an odd angle. She blinked a few times before turning back towards Tristan, walking over to

As she turned her attention back towards Tristan, she could help but roll her eyes.Beaters, such a violent breed, She joked. In all honesty, though, I regret not trying out for Ravenclaw’s team. Granted, not as a Beater, but ya’know…Quidditch… She trailed off, letting her eyes wander to a crystal ball glistening in the window.Wouldn’t have made the team, but I would’ve had experience, at least. She murmured, sighing.Oh well. She certainly regretted the decision, but hoped she would actually make it out to try out this year. Chances were good – she’d made it out on the pitch the previous year, but had decided to opt out on try outs. Maybe she wouldn’t second-guess herself this time around?

You dug yourself into this hole yourself, Tristan. We just happen to be aware you’re down there. Sybil shrugged, frowning slightly. But if you’d like, we’ll stop bruising your ever-so tender ego. Or, at least, we’ll try. Sybil pat Tristan’s shoulder gently, shaking her head.

Sybil almost opened her mouth upon hearing Tristan’s comment, she almost said something, but decided against it at last minute. It wasn’t that easy for some people, they couldn’t just move on…but she couldn’t help but be a bit weary of his tone. She was rather pleased that Savannah decided on quickly changing the subject.I’ll go tell Lexine… She muttered, quickly skittering up the aisle towards her sister. Lexine was turning towards her just as Sybil arrived at the counter. After a quick conversation and quite a bit of convincing, Lexine allowed Sybil to go off with Tristan and Savannah. Before Lexine could change her mind, Sybil started toward the door, leading the Hastings towards the door.Let’s just…go to the sweets shop, why not? She sighed, shrugging slightly.
