“What else have we got to trust,” asked Mistral, watching the steady blue glow of her ring. “Our Wonders? Maybe that works for you. But Mistral lies.” It welcomed her home even now, but like hell was she going to go. Like hell.
Not until she had to.
“I’m going to see if I can get it to take me to Olympus,” she said. “I’ll install it there, and then get the… get the upgrades handed out. Once I’m done making enough for everyone.” Then she fell silent for a moment. “I’m going to stay here for a while. You don’t have to stay with me.”

Babylon was used to thinking, at least a little, that each time he said goodbye to someone he might never see them again. He felt that towards Mistral right now, but not in any sort of overwhelming, urgent way. She was sad about what had happened at her wonder, but she wasn’t any sort of danger to herself. She had Mendel with her who would protect her from any sort of danger and she was probably able to get herself home okay if she walked slowly - after all, she’d gotten herself here.
“If you’re sure,” he said, giving her a last friendly squeeze before rising to his feet. He thought he could tell that she wanted to be alone right now. “Good night, Mistral.”
