Hearing no response, she was going to make a remark about getting old here. Course. She reminds herself that Eric doesn't seem to be a man to appreciate old jokes. The case file closes and then he drops it on her lap. Scowling softly, she opens the file.
"Aren't you charming as ever. It's a shame that I'm driving and you are not, so you will have to learn patient for a minute." Jayleigh says with sarcasm in her voice. Sighing softly, she sees that he started to look out of the window. Suit himself. Opening the file, she glances at the notes first. A girlfriend of the victim just got home and found her apartment has been ransacked and not only that, her partner is missing. Glancing towards the photo, she sees that the apartment is a big mess. There's even blood on the carpet. The cops are assuming that it may be either the partner or attacker. Saying nothing else, she closes the file and places it on the dashboard. Getting the car out of the parking lot, Jayleigh gets her phone.
"This is Detective Jensen. I want to know if Ashley McCathers will be at the crime scene or around. Okay. Alright. Thank you." Hanging up the phone, she puts it in her pocket. "McCathers is staying at the neighbors. Do you want to check out the crime scene or question her first?"

Eric made a small disgusted sound at the thought of talking to the girl. He didn't like the questioning part when it came to victims. He had to be "gentle" with them because of their "traumatic experience." It just wasted time. "Crime scene. You can question her afterwards." he answered. He would just send the detective off to question the girl herself, but he wouldn't trust trust her doing things on her own just yet. Besides, he needed to see how she'd do in a crime scene. A lot of his previous partners couldn't hold their own while with him. He doubted she'd be much different, but it was best to make sure. "Now hurry up, and get to the address I gave you." The man looked over to Jayleigh briefly to see what was holding her up, and then slumped further into his seat while he brought his attention back to his window.

Jayleigh heard something, she glances towards Eric for a moment, curious to what sound he just made. He doesn't seem to be pleased. Then again, he always doesn't seem to be pleased. Geez. What is it with this man. One thing for sure, once she gets home, forget trying to unpack. She's going to have a nice cold one tonight. With a bubble bath. Hearing him rushing her, she says nothing as she stays on the speed limit and obey the traffic laws. If Eric wants a ticket then he can get in the driver seat himself. Wanting to mess with the radio, she figures it wouldn't be a good idea considering she's driving, so she leaves the radio untouched.
Fifteen minutes later, they arrived at the apartment. Turning off the car, she puts the keys into her pocket for now. If he wants them all he can do is ask. Getting out of the car, she looks at the apartment complex. It's very nice. Nicer than her apartment that's for sure. "I'll get the key from the landlord." Entering inside the building, she heads towards the main office to get the key. Whether Eric will follow her or not is not her concern. He's starting to get on her nerves and few seconds break would be nice.

Eric had wasted enough time waiting for Jayleigh to finish read that file. He didn't have time to wait for her to get a dumb key too. Figuring she'd keep the landlord busy, Eric went up the stairs and to the apartment that was listed in the file. Out of his pockets came a lock pick, and with that he was quickly inside the room. He figured he wouldn't get in trouble for it if the landlord was already willing to give them the key. Eric began to look around the apartment, looking for the blood and signs of breaking and entering, and of a struggle of some sort.

"He wasn't kidding."
That man really does break rules. She leans on one leg as she rests her hand on her hip. The Chief wasn't kidding when he added that Eric has the tendency to break some rules. Some are small and few are majors. She wanted to lecture him about following the rules after all, what if the landlord have refused to give them the key and asked for warranty? Just because he agreed to let the people take care of the crime scene doesn't mean he will agree to more people bothering him. Sighing, she throws her arms up.
"I assume you are already smart enough to know that we are lucky he didn't ask for a warranty."
She starts to glance around with Eric as well being careful where she step. They both would notice that there's no sign of break in, the windows are intact and the door frame isn't damage along with the doorknob.
"That may mean it was someone the victim knew. What do you think?" She questions towards Eric. The signs of a struggle is apparent. Not only that, it seems like there's a sign of robbing too, with the clothes out of the drawers, all drawers open, anything that has a door, was opened. Or anything that was sealed, is open too. "And they were looking for something.. Do you notice anything else?"

"This stopped being private property when it became a crime scene." Eric reasoned while he looked in an opened cabinet. He continued to look elsewhere, pondering more on what the attacker was looking for more than anything else. "That was obvious when I was picking the lock." he said in response to Jayleigh's suggestion to it was someone the victim knew. "That's something to ask about when we visit the girlfriend." Eric looked around some more, turning to search another area more thoroughly. Then suddenly he felt something beneath his shoe. He looked down, and pulled his foot away from the object. Bending down, he picked the item up with a gloved hand. It looked like a charm that had been broken off of a key chain. It was a simple leather piece cut into a circle with the engravings of the initials JM on it. Curious. The man stood up with the charm in between his fingers. He walked over to Jayleigh, and handed it to her to see what she would say about it. "What do you make of this?" He tested, shoving his hands into his deep coat pockets.

Hearing his reasoning, she shakes her head softly. She wanted to add morals to this argument, that it would be right to always ask instead of just breaking in. Deciding to say nothing, she lets it slide. They would go nowhere if they continue the argument. Watching him stop in his tracks as he leans over to pick up something, Jayleigh reaches into her pocket and gets out a pair of gloves, putting them on, she gently takes the charm as she glances with her glasses.
"Could be a lot of things. It may have belonged to the victim, attacker, girlfriend, or even a friend who came over and broke it off by accident. It's evidence for sure. But evidence of what? However, it's leather, so there's a good chance we'll get fingerprints off of it. It also means that the crime scene investigators were idiots to miss this or maybe you planted it to test me again."
After he tested her the first time, it's obvious that it's going to be a long time before she could even trust him like a partner should.

"Tch" Eric made an indignant sound before snatching the charm from Jayleigh. "Idiot. Why would I plant evidence? Pay more attention." He flicked the girl's head for accusing him of such foolery. He has better things to do. He turned on heel, and walked off while shoving the charm in his pocket. He needed to see the blood. Although, he doubted his power would help much. When he found the blood, he crouched in front of it. It was drying, but he dipped his gloved finger in it anyway. He brought the bit of blood that was on his fingers to his nose to sniff it. At least this way he can identify a body if he finds the right one.

Being rudely treated, Jayleigh grinds her teeth together roughly. "Because you are exactly the type of jerk to do that." She retorted, glaring right at him will rubbing her forehead softly. Out of all detectives she could be paired up with, why does it have to be him?
Watching him shoving it into his pocket, she raises her eyebrow. "What, you don't have a bag to put the evidence in?" She questions. Next thing she knows, he is squatting down by the area where the blood has been spilled. Only seeing his back, she has no idea that he's sniffing the blood.

Eric rolled his eyes as he wiped off his glove with a wipe from his pocket (he has a lot of this in his pockets, one of the being a packet of wipes, another being a couple of baggies.) After cleaning his fingertips, the man took the charm and a baggy out. He stood to deliberately face Jayleigh, and then slipped the charm into the baggy. He sealed it, and held it in his fingers to show his new partner. With a raised eyebrow he said, "Happy?" He jauntily flung the baggy to her, and then brushed past her to leave. "We're finished here. Lock the door on your way out." Eric exited the apartment. He stood outside the doorway for a couple seconds to enjoy the peace until a loud skid sound was heard. The man looked to his right, and to his surprise was a figure dropping from the railing. Eric's eyes went wide, and he didn't hesitate to run to the railing. He watched the figure turn the corner. Everything in his head said to chase this person, and thus he obeyed. He hopped over the railing, but clung to it still as his feet met the railing below that. He hopped down onto the roof of a car from there, and then was gone.

Catching the baggy, she scowls softly. Who would known that two grown detectives would act like children. Here they are. Rolling eyes, throwing things, and not getting along. Saying nothing as she places the bag into her pockets and locks the door. Following him, she stops by the office to drop the key off. Yet, she heard the loud skid. Next thing she knows, Eric has taken off.
"Aw! Come on!" Jayleigh exclaims in frustration, This could be nothing but then again it could be something. Running to the car, she starts it and guns the car. Watching Eric's directions before she sped up, she needs to try to block the guy. Gunning the car as the tire skids, she stops in front of an alley to hope that she managed to block the guy and not Eric. Eric would be pissed if she ends up blocking him instead. {{Sorry people keep calling me away from the laptop}}

The person had gotten a good head start, so Eric was some feet behind, but not too far behind to not track the figure's moves. It looked like the figure was a man, and used to running away. But Eric was also used to chasing. His car sped past him as the figure turned to an alley. Jayleigh parked in the entrance, and Eric prayed that the alley would be a dead end. He jumped onto the trunk of his car, and hopped off from the roof, and into the alley. A fence stood in the figure's way, and he pathetically tried to climb it. All this jumping and running, and this man couldn't get over a fence? The guy glanced back to see his situation. Eric casually approached the figure. "s**t." the man said as he tugged at the piece of fence that took hold of his baggy pants. "Daggot?" Eric said as he looked up at the scruffy man with the horrendous yellow hoodie and army green cargo pants. "Yo! Eric, listen pal, I didn't know this was your case. Honest!" "What did you do, Daggot?" Eric asked with slight irritation. "Nothin', I swear! You were already there before I could anythin'!" Eric sighed irritably. He grabbed hold of the annoying informant, and pulled him off the fence, causing his cargo pants to rip at the leg. Daggot hit the ground with a thud and an oof! "Yo! These were new pants, dude!" "And yet they're no uglier than they already were. What the hell were you doing, Daggot? Talk or that gang that's after you will be the least of your worries." "Ay, ay! I'm calling harassment!" Eric growled impatiently. {{It's alright. Post when you can xD }}

Quickly shifting the car into park and taking the keys, last time a partner of hers didn't take the key and her partner ended up crashing the car by accident. Putting the keys into her pocket, she removes the gun from her gun holster on her lower back as she could hear thumping steps on the roof of the car. It was Eric's. Getting out of the car, the safety of her gun clicks off but she has to admit she's very surprised to hear the two men having a conversation as if they knew each other. 'Are you kidding me?!'
Holding the gun correctly and tight with her arms close to her body so it could be ready for the kick from the gun if it happens. "Detective?" she calls out towards Eric, questioning Eric's motives now. The gun is obviously aimed right at the man who is being called Daggot. Even when she is calling towards Eric, her almond hues is very focused on her target. Her footsteps are cautious as she doesn't even dare to get close to the man where he could have the upper hand.

Daggot looked back when he heard a woman's voice. He started in surprise when he noticed the gun aimed at his head. "Jesus! Eric, call her off!" He yelped as he shielded his head as if that would defend him. Eric grinned. "Start talking, or I'll have my new partner shoot." He threatened. Daggot looked up like a hurt puppy, but this didn't phase the detective. "Detective, go ahe--" "Yo, yo, yo! Hold up! Daggot pleaded, pulling himself on his knees. Eric grimaced with impatience. Daggot sighed. "I just heard that someone got shanked or something in the apartment and died. I thought it was good game." "You were going to break into an apartment to steal from the recently deceased?" "Well, yeah. I gotta make a livin' somehow." Eric pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. All this time wasted on this idiot. "Just shoot him already, detective." he grumbled. Daggot let out a shrill as his arms wrapped his head pathetically.

Call her off? Like she's some kind of rabid dog? Sure enough, now Eric gets all kind and friendly by calling her partner in front of the guy. Even started to order her around. It was then that her angry eyes glances towards Eric for a quick second before going back to target. Saying nothing, she hears the man confesses. It wasn't like she was going to shoot Daggot anyways. Hearing Eric, Jayleigh shrugs softly. 'I just heard that someone got shanked or something in the apartment and died.' Wait. Did he say died?
"Sure thing." But her gun suddenly turns and fires at the ground, only few centimeters from Eric's feet. The blast gunshot blast would be loud towards Daggot. "Tell me, how do you know the victim is dead?" She questions with the gun still aimed at Daggot. As fars the news and even the cops are concerned, the victim is missing.
