There may have been a little too much venom in those words and there was a chance the Mars page might felt it was directed at him, but Sarras wasn't going to bother specifying who or what it was directed towards, or apologize. Glitnir seemed to be handling things well, all things considered, and the Cosmos squire scoffed. "I'm new to this whole thing myself, really, I just lucked out and got thrown into a fiasco that I wasn't prepared for. And it's changed me, whether I want to admit it or not. Those that haven't changed... they're the ones that I'd worry about. Those that treat those pages deaths like they're simple casualties and tell others just to get over it... they can take a flying leap into the sun for all I care."
Not that he was any better. He had not witnessed their deaths firsthand, maybe he'd be thinking the same thing, and the thought wounded him. He was tired of this, and he waved his hand in a dismissive manner as he turned away. "Good luck with that," he said, when Glitnir expressed interest in learning about the Code himself. "Maybe you'll luck out and whatever ordeals we went through will all be worth it in the end. I don't care. I just want Buddingtonite dead, and then I'll leave this madhouse. Go back home..."
With Richard, back to Texas, away from this madness that had taken his cousin and mother's life, as well as his brother's sanity.
"Nice to meet you," he said, meaning it though he wouldn't have blamed if he didn't believe him. There were so few on either side that he could tolerate, and Glitnir seemed... alright. "Just don't be stupid, alright? Take caution and take care of yourself. Maybe this whole thing will treat you better?"
And like that, he left. He wished the best for Glitnir, though if anything did happen to the Mars page, that'd just mean another person to add to his s**t list.
