The scent of the hellhound was unmistakable in turn, and Thackery's ears perked up as the boil neared the booth and began to look it over. He watched with a wide, eager smile while he put some sort of leaf in the jar, and the audible thump of his tail hitting portions of the booth seemed to grow more rapid.

"Uh-huh! 'cause I'm a Cerberus, and sometimes others like me are different!" He didn't seem to catch that 'different' indicated a lack of likeness, but he did notice how carefully the other canine was holding the box he'd picked. "You made a real good choice!"



Chess pieces meant very different things to Thackery these days, considering the only attempts he'd made at playing 'chess' in any format involved the tactical selection of his friends and subjects as the pieces in another universe. He seemed momentarily thoughtful and curious as his eyes followed the boil's hand, then watched him release the piece into the jar in silent contemplation.

And the wide smile snapped back into place as if it were never gone.

"I don't guess I know much about playing chess, really, but I know lots about some of the pieces!" He happily took the hand extended towards him, and gave it a very energetic shake. "I'm Thackery! It's nice to meet you, Bartholomew! Maybe you can teach me more about chess and stuff someday, since you like it lots?"



While the ghoul looked through her pockets, he waited as patiently as he could, which still meant that he couldn't help wiggling a bit in anticipation. Her sheepish smile was met with a smile of bright encouragement, and he leaned forward with interest as she began to explain what she wanted to put into the jar.

"Woah!" His eyes grew owlishly wide at the demonstration of the way the flipbook worked. "That's the coolest! 'course it's okay! Did you make it?"



Maybe it had just been a while, or maybe Thackery vastly misremembered Barth's appearance, but something was distinctly different about him. He caught himself staring - then happily sighing - at the simple sight of him.

"Thanks," he all but swooned, missing his addition of the rose petal entirely as he could not manage to stop staring.



It wasn't until Barth was out of his line of sight that he snapped out of it, finding himself very confused on a number of levels. Thankfully, he didn't have too much time to think about that - he looked vaguely concerned that the ghoul in front of the booth looked a bit perplexed. He had just opened his mouth to try and help her when she produced an item to put into the pumpkin jar, which relieved all of his worries at once.

"Good luck to you too!" he cheerfully chimed, giving her a hyperactive wave and a friendly smile.



Ash received a genuine sort of smile in the interim between visitors - one that was not quite so toothy and was much more honest, even if that did mean the smile was a tiny bit sad.



In doing so, he completely missed Gabby passing by. It was for the best that the dragon did not stop to chat, because it would have certainly resulted in about three thousand questions regarding the state of his relationship.

Apparently, one of the previous members of student council was running again. Who knew! Certainly not her; but then again, she hadn't actually been aware of the student council the previous years, either.

In fact, if she thought about it for too long, the wyrm realised she couldn't remember very much of the last two years at all. A great deal of sleeping, she imagined, as well as endless dinners.

Ah yes. Political campaigns were beginning to take shape now. Lock had visited a number of booths at this point, and seen an aray of political opinions. Well no, that was incorrect to say. It was more like he'd seen an aray of political strategy. Most were doing quite a bit to win students' votes, but very few had yet to communicate an effective platform to him.

When he approached Thackery's booth, he couldn't say it wasn't obvious what Thackery's scheme was.

Bribery.

While many would write off bribery as a political tactic (as it was, for the most part, completely unethical), Lock wouldn't knock Thackery off the plate completely- it would be unfair to judge a candidate by their tactic rather than their position. After all, it could be the result of a sour campaign strategist. As if high school student council elections had strategists.

A strange tactic, thought Lock, for a boil who had been treasurer last year (Lock had researched Amity's political history from the past 20 years, naturally). Perhaps he was trying to communicate "look what a good job I did- we have surplus now!" But no, if that was the case, he would be giving out prizes that were more monetary in function- materialistic objects, rather than living. In fact, giving away living prizes was very risky considering there were many ethical and legal implications. For example, if a minipet died after being given away, a client could move to sue Thack in some way, surely.

So perhaps he was going for a complete change over? It wasn't unusual for candidates to reinvent themselves to appeal to a new demographic. However, Lock wouldn't let Thack escape his past so easily.

"Hello," he said, approaching the smaller cerberus. Lock was getting taller every day, which was both exciting and frightening. "Yes hi. My name is Lock Blackwood." He almost sounded like a news reporter. "How will you approach the position of president differently from that of treasurer? How do you intend to change?"

LOCK TOOK POLITICS SO SERIOUSLY.

What the boil said was deep in a way that made Thackery sort of sad, and he struggled to prevent his ears from drooping as he kept his chin up.

"I hope you have a real good life here! Like the best life ever, so you don't gotta worry about who you were before! 'Cause you're all that matters now," he asserted, head tilted to one side as he smiled.



Had Thackery been privy to any of the thoughts and considerations that were being put into his campaign at the moment, he might have shut down due to a full system overload. Thankfully, one question was simple enough for him to answer, so he brightly perked up with a smile and a wave before he began his reply.

"Hiii Lock! It's nice to meet you! My name's Thackery! And...well." He took a deep breath, puffing his chest out a bit melodramatically as a result. "President is a really different role from Treasurer! I think the only thing that stays the same - aside from being on the same Council and all - has gotta be the protection part of it, which is why I thought hey, President's a good idea! I wanna make sure everyone at the school is safe and finding where their potential is, the stuff that makes them special, the stuff they're all the best at. It's kinda like spending wisely, except I think it's a little cruel to think of something living in a not so personal way, you know? I guess the biggest difference is that I think it's important to focus on individual needs and stuff, and seeds don't really have that. You can't check to see what a seed wants to be spent for, haha! But it's real easy to start someone thinkin' about what makes them feel useful - like what makes you feel useful, Lock?"



With a little laugh, he shook his head and scrunched his nose up, amazed at himself for being so silly.

"Oh! Right!" Duh, Thackery. "I guess I got too impressed by it and stuff! If it's not too hard for you to teach me, can you? Or I can borrow the book you saw it from if you don't wanna do it! Pleeease?"

And then he turned on the puppy eyes.

"Thank you too, you surely are the best." More head petting with affection. "Spookies are definitely the best, and no need cutie, baking is my hobby and I often bake too much." AJ giggled, clearly and frankly. "Oh, I have you on my list, great! Hmm huh, King Thackery." He read with twisting rhythm, "Your name sounds similar to what you like too, funny enough."

The widened eyes amused the serpent dragon boil, "Yup. One and two. Your majesty." He pointed to himself and then the Head with a signature smile. "We're a species born with two heads, each with different mindset but linked together. I call him Bro, aka brother but he does have a name of his own." The boil explained, stroking along the scales of the big Head, from head down the body. "Dwa~!" Another childish voice chirped, "I am a cute head and I love spookiesssss and foods! All kind of foodssssss~" It cheered in joy.

After stopping by Llyrendil's booth, there was another one of note for Erebus to visit. "Thack!" He called out brightly, tail wagging as he noted that his brother too, was running for president; a step up from his former role.

"Good luck, bro." He said with a grin, reaching over to ruffle his brother's hair.

Feeling irritability sneaking up Zaire quickly removed his boilfriend from the last booth, no longer able to stand its chilly atmosphere any longer. As they walked among the many other students a sneaky hand slid low and tanned fingers released his used sucker stick. Yep, he just littered and glanced to Jory to see if he had noticed, a grin on his lips before it fell back to his normal default bored look.

The hand holding to Jory's gave a squeeze and his feet stilled, landing them in front of a booth that held the current Student Council Treasurer, this boil was a little more up his alley so he took note of the cute factor instantly. Though wasn't stupid enough to let his eyes linger long considering who he was with.

On a slow smile he pulled Jory gently towards the booth, spotting the candy on approach and grabbing a few pieces. "I miss all the...free candy at events apparently...Maybe I should go to more.." On a chuckle he offered his boil some of the candy in his hand, eyes running over the booth and actually taking interest.
