"Eh I guess." She brushed it off, honestly there was no one harder on Harlow then Harlow herself.
She grinned poking at her meal herself. "I can tell, you swallowed that down so far." she looked down at what she was eating herself. She grinned at him. "I was worried you wouldn't like it too." She should have known that he would have liked it, he was a guy after all and he did like to eat. Most guys did anyway.
She didn't exactly want him to bury it, but at the same time she wasn't sure how much to pry. She didn't know where she stood exactly, was she his girlfriend, was she allowed to pry about stuff like that? She wasn't that sure if she should or could, and it was his birthday! She finished off her own food and laughed a huge grin was on her face. "24!" She exclaimed looking at him as if she was in shock. "You are for sure an old man." She teased, then again she was 20, she had all the more right she felt to tease him for his age.
She leaned forward toward the basket. "I have two more things for you." She pulled the basket up to her and pulled out a small cake for the two of them to share. "I hope you like cake, because I'd have to leave if you don't like it." she raised a brow at him, she really was sure that once again it would be something that he liked judging back to the whole eating anything deal.

Waving a hand dismissively he nudged his empty plate aside. Settling the fork and knife across it. "Like I said, starving. Besides I'm still a growing boy. I need all the nourishment I can get." The food in the cafeteria was laughable to say the least. He wondered if they'd ever get someone to work in there to make something a bit more palatable but as the way things were he was pretty sure they'd all starve by then. Crossing his arms over his chest he squinted at her more. "Well then, I guess the phrase don't sass your elders should come in to play. But don't be planning to ship me off to an old person's home just yet." He certainly didn't feel old. And Harlow was only a few years younger than him so what did that say about her? "But I guess if you don't want to be with an old man so be it. Its hard keeping up with the young pups now a days anyways and I'd rather take a nap." Clapping his hands together as she pulled the cake out, his grin grew wide. "I could never turn down a piece of cake. Even if it wasn't my birthday." Although he was curious as to why she would have to leave if he didn't like cake in the first place.

"Starving, hmm?" she couldn't help but to chuckle a little, "You don't look like you're starving, or at least you normally don't under all of that armor." She then paused and looked up at him. "Don't say you're still a growing boy, I'm not sure it's humanly possible to get any taller." She commented a smirk lingering on her face. She knew she was tall and honestly was often taller then a good amount of the guys that she knew, but Zascha had her beat.
"I do what I want old man." She narrowed her eyes back at him and stuck out her tongue.
Her attention then turned to the cake, she cut half and then transferred it to a plate handing it to him and then grabbing a piece for herself. "Good because I don't like to associate with anyone who doesn't like cake." She looked at him with the most serious face that she could muster before turning back to the cake. "It's been too long." Her weakness was her sweet tooth. She normally did her best to eat healthy and stay in shape but if she was given the opportunity she would and could probably eat an entire cake by herself. She shifted her weight and pushed her legs to the side of her and looked back at Zascha, then to her cake, then back to Zascha.
"You have something on your face."
She commented as she smudged some of the frosting on his nose.

"Well, if the amount and quality of the food in the cafeteria is anything to go by I'm starving all the time." He grinned. Obviously nothing was going to change there if someone didn't do something. But he wasn't looking to become a lunch lady thanks. "Oh I'm pretty sure it's possible. I'm tall but I'm also sure there are a couple guys around on the island taller than me." Not that it mattered. Although Zascha would probably hate to be a really short guy among all the tall people. Did Deus had a height requirement? No, there couldn't be. He'd seen some pretty small shorties about. But they were generally girls. Looks like someone had a specific type. Zascha waved his hand dismissively. "Whatever you say youngin'." He took a few bites of the cake, it was good. How long had it been since he'd honestly had cake? Months? Years? It was hard to remember sometimes how much time had passed between mundane life and when he woke up in the pod. "Here is hoping you don't find out someone you want to be friends with doesn't like cake." Another bite. But soon he found himself with frosting on his nose. Oh ho, she wasn't going to get away with that so easily. He wiped the frosting away with a mischievous grin, picking up what was left of his cake on the plate in his hand. "So its going to be like that hm?"

Harlow thought about it for a moment taping the dull end of her fork on her nose. "There aren't too many that I've seen." She did have a type, she liked tall guys, or at least guys that were taller than her. Which some times was a surprisingly hard thing for her to find. But she was glad that Zascha was cute on top of being tall...
"Agreed." she commented back probably a little too seriously. She really wasn't sure she could manage to be friends with some one who didn't like one of her favorite things. Although she probably was over thinking that and being a little dramatic but oh well.
After she smudged the frosting on his face she smirked and went back to happily eating bites of cake. She was fairly certain that this cake was one of the best that she's had in a long time. But then her attention turned to Zascha as he spoke she looked at him and arched a brow and then her face flushed white. "What do you think you're doing with that?" She asked as she as she started to scoot away from on the blanket. "That's huge piece of cake, I only used a little bit of frosting." she half squeaked out

"I'm sure if you really looked they would be pretty easy to spot. Especially in a crowd." In all honesty if there was a 'type' Zascha didn't have one. Sure there were certain things about a woman that drew his attention like pretty eyes or a rather nice looking posterior but he'd never really pegged himself as a guy that looked for certain physical qualities. Ok, maybe he could certainly call himself an a** man but that was besides the point. What was that saying? I hate when you leave but I love to watch you go? Her moving away only caused him to move closer, grasping at her upper arm to pull her back towards him as he waved the piece of cake dangerously close to her face. "Yea but you know me, go big or go home."

Harlow was about to lift herself up to get up and attempt to escape the man's grasp. But when he did she squealed. The thing was with all of the training she had been doing she was more than confident that she could get away. But at the same time she didn't want to hurt him either. She giggled and then looked at him and then her eyes moved toward the cake.
"If you get any of that in your hair you're going to regret it for a long time." She raised her brows at him. She was not pleased at all at the idea of having to go and take another shower today. She attempted to wiggle away, but didn't get anywhere. "I mean come on, it is your birthday you needed some frosting on your face." she laughed once again attempting to reason with him.

Zascha scooted closer to her as he kept a firm but not tight grip on her arm. She wasn't going to get away that easily. And if she did managed to somehow get away well, he would remember and get her at a later time. "I know those frosting facials or whatever you girls are in to now a days are popular but I don't think I need one thanks." He leaned his face in a bit closer to her's, narrowing his eyes just a bit. "Beside, fair is fair. Now hold still and take your licks like a good girl." Zascha inched the piece of cake closer to her face, drawing out the inevitable as long as he could until... "Boop." He lightly tapped the cake against her nose, leaving a small dab of frosting. "See, that wasn't so bad. And you were all worried that I was going to get it all in your hair." Leaning in, he kissed her nose lightly. Removing the offending frosting before she could throw an elbow into his ribs.

It wouldn't be surprising if Zascha heard the Mist Hunter's heart almost beat right out of her chest. She was happy though, she honestly wasn't wasn't some one who had much experience with boys. All of the boys that she knew before were not the type she would date, she grew up with all of them and that would have just been weird.
Through her nervousness she laughed, "Facial care is important for men too." She pointed out to him, she was attempting to move away a little more but she wasn't getting very far. As he moved closer and she couldn't get away any further she closed her eyes and held her breath. She let out a sigh of relief as only put a little on her nose. She laughed and opened her eyes only to see him kiss her nose.
She paused sitting back for a moment, she was surprised but she wasn't that sure how she should reply. She leaned forward herself and kissed him lightly on the lips before pulling back and then smiled at him. "I have one other gift for you."

A smile came to his lips when she kissed him back. Zascha could sense her nervousness about the whole thing. He was nervous too but tried his best not to show it, not wanting her to feel insecure or anything. Though he had to admit he would have preferred the kiss to last a little bit longer. Cest la vie. "I'll have you know I wash my face at least two times a week. Sometimes more if I'm part of a particularly gross mission." He wasn't a slob, but Zascha also wasn't one of those kinds of guys who primped and trimmed themselves constantly. He just wasn't that vain or superficial. An eyebrow raised. Oh right, the second gift she had mentioned. "Should I close my eyes and hold out my hands?"

She couldn't help but to raise a skeptical brow at him as he said he only washed his face twice a week. She tapped his nose with her finger before commenting, "You should at least wash it every day like when you brush your teeth." Her voice was somewhere between serious and teasing.
When he talked about holding out his hands and closing his eyes she laughed. "Well duh." She smirked and waited for him to close his eyes and hold out his hands. When he did she reached into the pocket of her shirt, she pulled out a leather braided necklace. She had spent a lot of her time growing up making friendship bracelets and things like that. It was something that she just did for fun but didn't really share with anyone else. "I hope you like it." She said simply with a small smile. "It's adjustable so it should be able to be kept out of the way pretty easily."

Zascha gasped. "Brush your teeth everyday? Its suppose to be like going to church at Christmas time right? Only do it once a year." He of course was teaching. Zascha brushed his teeth everyday of course. Rubbing his nose from the tap, he merely grinned. He really hoped whatever she put in his hand didn't bite. When she placed the necklace into his hand his fingers closed over it. Eyes opening to examine it. Zascha smiled. "I love it. Thank you Harlow." Zascha then put it on. Because of course when someone gave you something to wear you did that sort of thing. He could tell she had spent putting time into it just for him. Taking her hand, he gave it a small squeeze. A serious look on his face now as he watched her wordlessly. Green eyes studying her face.

"Oh god." She commented simply to his comments about brushing his teeth, she knew he was kidding but she still arched her brows at him as if he grew another head. She simply chuckled and then shook her head.
When he opened his eyes to look at what she had made him her lips turned into a smile. She was very happy to know that he liked it because she was extremely worried that he would not. She spent a day or two working on it and although she worked hard she was still nervous because it was so last minute. she looked up at him, "You're welcome. Happy Birthday." She squeezing his hand in return, she grinned and looked up at him and was about to say something in return until she realized he looked serious as he was looking at her. Her face flushed red, "Yeah?"

"So I guess that means its official then." A small smile tugged at his lips as he reached up to run a thumb over her cheek. "Oh well, can't be helped I guess." When she blushed it made her look even more beautiful than she was without it. Not to say that she wasn't beautiful without it either, it just added to it. Zascha didn't believe there was anything that could make her any less beautiful to him in the first place. And she cared about him, he could tell from all the little things she had gone through today. Even if she claims it was all last minute at least she had taken the time to care.

All of this seemed so overwhelming and confusing that was for sure. Her heart was fluttering and she felt like she was in highschool once again. She was glad that now Neci wasn't deciding to voice her opinion about her acting like a five year old on a school playground or something like that.
She leaned her face into his hand a little more a smile growing on her face, it was still soft. She was definitely feeling pretty shy about this. "W-what's official?" she stuttered, she was clueless about so many things some times. There was a huge part of her that was more relaxed then she was at first though, extremely pleased that tonight had went much better than it had before just knowing that he enjoyed himself.
"I hope you don't expect anything else because this is all I planed." She laughed sheepishly.
