Valdene and Suuyeth

exclaimed Suuyeth, Pellinorth's announcement was not directed at him – he did, after all, look like a weyrling at first glance, though he was well into his adult years. He reached for his rider's mind to try to get some logic out of it, but she was still unavailable. <... That can't be right.> he said again, his eyes flickering yellow, briefly, worried about his rider. Shouldn't she be awake by now?

Vesresh

“Oh. Good...” The boy nodded. “They're my sisters.” he said, and then added unnecessarily, “Both of them.”

Well of course they were.

“They're bronzeriders, wingseconds...” he said, too quickly, “and they're tough and strong and... and...” and they were going to be okay. He wasn't going to lose them. He wasn't going to lose them too. He started to cry, his words dissolving into sniffles as he sat back down on the cot.

Regulith exclaimed, closely followed by a more uncertain; You couldn't just go to the future, the future wasn't a place!

At her dragon's distress and confusion Lamira's passive sleeping face flickered with a frown and she shifted slightly on the narrow cot.

Regulith continued as he felt Lamira stir a little; were they even safe here? The scars on that green and the size of her. She looked like one of those dogs bred for fighting. he added privately to his fellows.

Crying children.

Ugh.

Bereck was not good with crying children or at least he didn't believe he was, he always felt as though whatever he was doing was the wrong thing to have done and that there should probably be proper training and qualifications for reassuring small sad people. With his apprentices he tended towards brusque practicality but they were usually a bit older than this boy, having been sent from Healer Hall because they expressed a particular interest in dragon healing. It was different with kids he knew well but really he'd only ever known two well; Aleck and then Rensoua and the two of them were so different that....

Less think, more do; there was nobody else here to take care of things so he would have to.

Bereck smoothed a hand over his hair and sat down gingerly next to the boy, trying to work out which angle to take. "You must be very proud of them," he said after a short pause, leaning his cane against the bed out of the way and putting an arm around Vesresh's small shoulders. "What Weyr have you all come from?" The girls - young women - couldn't be from Benden if they were wingseconds unless things had been very different back then. Back then. At the start of the fourth Pass. Shards!

Thalassinuth lay quite still with her eyes closed, listening to the talk going on around her. A great many things were racing through her mind, chief amongst which was; 'This was not supposed to happen'. They hadn't meant for this. Just the riders at the top table, and not all of them. A small sacrifice, not a slaughter that had landed them... where? She remembered appearing above High Reaches vaguely but her main concern had been her wounded rider; he slept still, possibly drugged. High Reaches it had been however, she was certain, and the dragons in the air around them had been enormous.

she responded to Pellinoth. Either that or the dragon speaking to them was telling the truth and that was very difficult indeed to believe.

Not days... turns. Hundreds of them if what Berath said was true. Dianno... I believe you should wake up now. she called privately to her bonded. As she felt him stirring (there was a loud noise that was seriously ticking him off wherever he was) Aioth's eyeridges drew into a frown. No... I wouldn't believe it is Regulith. If it weren't for the evidence of my own eyes. Even so I don't fully believe. Time isn't a place to travel between. She'd had the same thought as he.

Aioth thrummed softly in Regulith's direction carefully speaking to their fellows We have rescued them once. Should we need to we will do it again. I would hear her out first.

......................

Within the infirmary, Aioth's touch on his mind was enough to convince Dianno he was going to get no more sleep. Not with that kid squalling in the other bed. "Will you shut uuuuup? " He groaned. Scorch that kid and his high and mighty ranked sisters. He didn't even know who they were. They weren't Benden that was for sure. Ugh. He should have just jumped ship the moment Aioth knew how to between.

A strangled cry of pain was all the reward he got for trying to sit up. Bruised, his whole body felt like an enormous bruise. The motion left him gasping, each breath accompanied by another stab of pain. "By the egg!" His ribs were wrapped and one arm was distinctly heavy. His face and the back of his skull throbbed and he didn't even want to try moving his legs now (though he could feel every inch of them). He felt like a tree had fallen on him. Multiple times. With intent.

Vesin and Bronze Kelilayth

A small rumbling in the back of the young woman's mind started rousing her to consciousness; slowly at first, and then all at once. She sat up suddenly in bed despite her aching muscles and started shouting out a roll call. "Vos! Esre! Rik!" She called out, her eyes taking in her surroundings quickly and alarmingly. Were they at the High Reaches Weyr? Its what it looked like during their hasty and not so great landing.

The bronze shifted against his brother's side and even doing that hurt. His voice didn't have the usual Umph it normally did which worried Vesin. Keli opened his eyes to make sure the hide next to his was in fact his brothers. His gaze was attracted to the giant who was clearly in conversation with a few other dragons. To Tiaeth only, he said, There was humor there as he was trying to make light of the situation even though he was just as clueless as the rest. At one of the other's comments, he swung his head to look at him. To Pellinorth and Tiaeth, His mind was working more like his rider's. <'Sins, learn what you can, something doesn't seem right.>

Since I didn't want to wait too long for your reply in thread, if there's anything you'd like to to change/add about Kelilayth's relationship with Pellinorth please let me know and I'll change it!

To all the dragons
DraconicFeline

Berath replied with a soft croon, intended to reassure the confused, exhausted and injured dragons around her. she continued to one of the bronzes who had spoken up. She knew that she would want to see Bereck if their positions were reversed.

Berath sighed internally and turned her mind to address her bondmate alone.

Vosin and Bronze Tiaeth

What felt odd, now that she thought about it, Vosin was in a bed alone. Normally her twin was within reach. She noted that one arm felt as though it was in a sling. The same one that felt particularly sore. Vos relaxed on the cot as she absorbed information her dragon had gleamed from the others. That... did not make sense.

For a moment the bronze was distracted by Pellinorth. Why so? They have not tried to harm us, and I don't know about your rider, but they have tended to mine. Tiaeth doubted if they'd been with the group of Lord Holders that had orchestrated that attack they would be alive to feel it right now. Although, he couldn't say they wouldn't have bad intentions later. So wary was the order of the day. He would need to see proof before he believed that his rumor being bandied about that they were over 500 Turns into the future was true. One giant green wasn't enough for him.

His attention was drawn back to the humans as he felt a familiar mind in distress. Do not cry Vesresh. We are awake now. The bronze thrummed slightly in reassurance. Movement and a comment in the lump next to him made Tiaeth snort. Obviously very large herdbeasts Kelilayth, he replied with a snicker to the bronze. He listened closely as the giant green insisted what Pass they were in. Are you sure your calenders aren't wrong? Tiaeth sent to her. Though he found it suspicious when she offered to show them their own riders through Hers.

Noises closer by caught her attention. A kid crying, sounded familiar. Someone telling him to shut up then moaning himself. And a very familiar voice calling her name. Yup. Vos growled at the man, "shut yer moaning big baby," as she sat up. "Oi Ves, no yellin' this early in the morning. Erse, stop that sniveling. Ye'r alright ain't you?" Sitting up slowly she swung her legs over the cot and looked around for her siblings. She tilted her head hearing from Keli. We'll see how much they reveal.

Pellinorth replied to Tiaeth, Kelilayth and Thalassinuth His attention turned sternly on Tiaeth. few of the lesser colours? My rider cannot be the only one to find that mix suspicious> He added, in the spaces between words, Thalassinuth’s request to keep her status quiet.

His head swung back to Berath, eyes churning. If necessary… but there could be no action until his Queen was awake and fit to travel.

That said, his rider put stage 0 of ‘get the shaff out of here’ into action, the woman slipping out of bed. “What we need are clothes and a bath, master healer” Her chin had an imperious cast, because - well, no-one could make a dashing escape attempt in a nightgown and bare feet. Give her boots or give her death!

Page had quietly and carefully sat up as the commotion in the room roused him. His body ached, but it was dull and distant. It felt less like an injury and more like the last time he'd run a fever. His neck felt oddly numb underneath it's thick swatch of bandages. Gingerly, the young man brushed his damp hair out of his face and folded the edge of the sheet covering him over carefully in his lap.

Venaith? A flicker of acknowledgement touched his mind in response.

Are you ok?

Hurts.

Page pursed his lips and gripped the sheets in his lap hard. Venaith was usually...verbose at best. He looked up from his clenched fists as a familiar voice rose above the others. "Elane?" Page's voice rasped in confusion and surprise, his throat and tongue feeling dry and thick from lack of use over the past day.

Vesresh

Esre nodded, sniffling, grateful for the slight comfort that the arm around his shoulder provided. Yes, he was proud: they were his heroes, his role models for his life. “Benden... They were visiting from Igen, though...” he babbled. And it had been a nice visit, until everything had suddenly ripped itself apart over breakfast. “I hadn't seen them in so long...” he murmured, his voice ending in a startled little squeak as a rider groaned at him. He quieted, apologetic, slumping unhappily.

He soon perked up, though. “Vesin!” he squeaked, his face lighting up. Seeing one of his sisters up and awake and alive and well was intensely relieving. A voice in his mind – his mind – startled him and his gaze was briefly distant as he processed it and realized that he knew it. “Tiaeth?” and finally, “Vosin!” He felt relieved... but for reasons he could not explain that just made him cry more. He smiled at Bereck, eyes still streaming. “Thank you, sir!” he said.

Vesin of Bronze Kelilayth

Vesin smiled sheepishly at her sister as she hadn't meant to shout as loud as she did. Kel said to his rider unbelievably. Even Ves paused for a moment before turning back to her surroundings. Vos had just yelled at someone for yelling at Esre and now she was telling Esre to stop his sniveling. If the information she was getting was true...they were all in for a bit of a shock.

Standing despite her bodies protests, she went and sat on Esre's free side and hugged him to her side and giving the guy sitting with him a not so nice stare. Who was he? Why was he with her brother? Was he part of their group who had went Between or was he from the High Reaches? Only Esre's thank you to him kept her from outright questioning him.

It was when another spoke up to the master healer? about baths and clothes did she realize how much of a mess she was. "Clothes and baths do sound appropriate." She chimed in with the other.

When one of the boy's sisters came over and glared at him Bereck removed his arm from around the boy's shoulders and stood up, retrieving his cane as he did so. "You're welcome," he replied to Vesresh even though he wasn't sure what he was being thanked for, because apparently he now had other matters to address. They weren't going to be happy about this.

Bereck turned to the girl who had first made demands of him and met her gaze without rancor, all things considered they were all being rather reasonable so far. "I will arrange for baths to be brought in and fresh things for all of you to wear," he replied with a nod. Now. He sighed. "Some of you may have already gathered... but you're a long way from home. Time? A long time from home?" That didn't scan but it was a lot more accurate. "Anyway," enough semantics, "we don't know what traveling between times does to you, so all of you need to rest here for the time being." And until the Headwoman worked out what to do about them. Would Benden want them? Probably not, and of course not all were from Benden apparently, but the other Weyrs probably wouldn't either. Unskilled, untested, with no knowledge of the present day.... Shards. "Ah... and any questions you have I will do my best to answer, of course."

Berath hummed again and bowed her head to Pellinorth. she agreed readily, Reaching out to look through her rider's eyes Berath passed the images on to all the dragons who had spoken to her so far. she continued to Suuyteth as she nudged Bereck gently to look around the room and take in all of the riders. between times.>
