The second hand on the clock took forever to inch its slow way toward the 3, but at long last it was finally the end of Lunette's shift. She preferred her morning 8-3 shift over having to work the 3-10 shift, especially considering nothing interesting happened during the hours when students and most other full time workers were busy. With a definitive sigh of relief, Lunette grabbed her now empty coffee thermos, slung her bag over her shoulder, and headed out into the afternoon sunlight of Barton Town's business square.

It was about mid-August, the time when school starts again and the coming autumn is on the very edge of one's thoughts. Lunette's favorite time of year was autumn. It felt like no other season. With the changing of the leaves came a sort of feeling of creativity and possibility. The cooler temperatures and the vibrant decor in which nature dressed itself felt almost magical.

As much as Lunette would have loved to revel in the autumn-governed world, the air still clung to the last heat of summer, the leaves not yet showing the tell-tale signs of change. But it was all so close.

Her thoughts drifted along as Lunette made her way across Barton Square and over to Buttercup Cafe. Rina, a local school girl, owned and ran the place. Since Rina was back in school now, a few of her older friends took care of business during school hours for her. Lunette ordered a caramel macchiato and took her drink over to the fountain, her favorite place to just kill time. By 3:30 all the school kids would be out, and that meant a bunch of teenagers swarming the square and turning the peaceful quiet into a raucous free-for-all. Breathing deeply and letting her mind wander where it wanted, Lunette enjoyed the quiet while she could.

((I won't post again until the characters still in class are finally out for the day. Don't want to throw things off.))

Prim made it to her next class. This time she wouldn't make a fool of herself, and she'd pay attention, perhaps even make a new friend. Prim scanned the classroom and looked for a seat. She noticed a girl with headphones happily drawing. Perhaps this girl could be a new friend. She approached the blue haired girl and sat beside her. "Um..hi. I'm Prim." She turned to the girl. Prim glanced down at the drawing the girl was making. "Wow, that's amazing." She said aloud. She was impressed. Already she found common interests with the female sitting by her. Prim took out her notebook and started to sketch as well.

User Image Rushing down the hall Seren checked the paper in her hand, she had been so busy in the morning dealing with the astronomy club she forgot all about her assigned duties as a senior mentor. Barton High made it point to help all there new freshmen by pairing them up with a senior student to help them in anyway they can to foster the spirit of friendship, Barton itself was famous for.

Luckily for Seren both her assigned girls were in this next class together, stopping at the door and knocking to get the teachers attention, Seren prepared to introduce herself to the girls.

(I usually don't go on this long, but I needed to fill in some backstory!)

User ImageThe soft chimes of a school bell tickled Hydro's ears as she sleepily took note of the late hour. The last few tardy students ran into the Barton school as she awoke. Slightly nomadic ever since leaving her original home, she never settled down roots or proper bed. In fact, there was probably legal paperwork somewhere that bespoke something of a tie to Isle de Gambino. However, lately she'd been laying her head down in Barton Town at night and a magician really could make a temporary home just about anywhere. Tonight/Today's perch was a very large tree near the Barton Schoolhouse. At 17, Hydro was not really in need of school, a great self-learner, but a place with books couldn't help but pique her curiosity.

"Ow, Yin, stop!" She groaned. It wasn't the school bells that had awoken her from the magical pillows from which she'd slept. To most eyes, she literally seemed to be sleeping on tree branches, but even a nomadic self-taught mage needed a pillow for her head. And her head, with long soft azure locks, where tangled horribly by a tiny, silvery scaled friend who had decided to take upon himself to create a nest out of Hydro's hair. This is was promoted her scolding the baby dragon, whom she usually acted much more smitten with. Hydro had found the parent-less little egg then hatch-ling on a cloud, and not knowing much else about the dragon except she found it on a cloud, this is what she presumed his kind liked to sleep on was a cloud. Sadly, despite her ability to create a cloud for little Yin to sleep upon, he seemed to prefer her cloud-like hair.

She stretched and ruffled her fin-like ears out from under her hair. Most people mistook the fins as a hair accessory, especially since they could be tucked underneath her usually blue and usually very long hair which hid her actual ears too. However, the fins allowed the non-finned half mermaid ,half something she didn't know, girl to breathe underwater. Still, despite the ability to live underwater, Hydro had been lured to life above the water and even above the clouds at times, and usually stayed closest to where there was books. Durem held so many delightful magic books, Isle de Gambino had a wonderful relaxed atmosphere to enjoy reading, and Barton Town was full of interesting people to watch. Also, her ability to craft herself wings made going to Dref Dur above but that required a little more effort than she had felt like.

Usually wingless, Hydro usually sported a slightly odd outfit, even for a magician. Corset-like armor with white pants and blue boots, a cape with gloves, a tiara, and several accessories that befitted an eccentric mage and of course, a angelic rod. The priceless rod had come to life in her hands once, alive with not water and healing, but wind magic, and thus became a part of Hydro's search to know why she could control the additional element. Her usual attire didn't sport a fuku like those of the girls she'd watched run by but she could be inspired to dress for an appropriate occasion.

Curled up with a book about wind magic she'd temporarily liberated, Hydro didn't anticipate anything else to see besides the normal proceeding of a school day, so she and Yin munched on bread for breakfast.

Yume Toas music playlist

Yume continues to draw gaia as well as charms or different types of elements surrounding Gaia. She stops when she hears something or someone speaking to her. she takes her headphones off and see a pink hair girl in front of her. Yume was nervous considering someone actually approached her and wanted to talk to her. S..somebody wants to talk to m...me? o..okay stay calm Yume just take a deep breath and introduce yourself. just don't let her touch your hands...last time that happened.. you failed at making a friend..and you were considered weird and.... okay... just speak now.. Yume gulped and nervously spoke. "H...h...hi.I...I'm Y..Yume. " gives her a small smile and giving her attention to Prim. She stared at the girl who took out her notebook "Y..You draw good." she said as she watched Prim sketching which were nice and lovely drawings to yume. Yay you're doing it, you're talking to someone.. Hopefully she doesn't think I'm weird. She smiles as she continues to draw in her sketchbook. To her maybe Barton high wasn't going to be so bad to her and maybe she'll make a friend at least.

With those large adorable eyes, Hydro's anger at Yin once again disappeared. The baby dragon could only squeak to communicate, and had a way of doing so to dissolve his owner's irritation. Though the little one tried to float away from the tree, Hydro plucked the dragon's tail between her fingers.

"I don't think dragons are permitted in school, Yin." she said, flipping the book closed with her other hand. "It's not time to play yet, I think. What do you think? Should we play with the school kids?" Hydro grinned. "I do like the occasional mischief....but it needs to be planned, little one."

Prim grinned to Yume, and bowed her head slightly. "Thank you. It's nice to meet you. I really like your drawings too. Would you like to meet me at Barton Square after school? Maybe we can hang out? If that's okay with you." She was happy she would have at least one friend. After she spoke, Prim noticed the door open. The teacher was escorting a blonde, twin-tailed girl into the room. The girl looked to be a bit older than her, and sweet in nature. The teacher directed Seren to the girls.

The presentation had gone better than Aylin had expected. The bombing at H & R Wesley had left a lot of people around Gaia more than a little concerned about the connections the bomber had with the Kuro mafioso. Sure it was known that the Underground, as people around Durem called them, had their hand in a lot of back door business dealings but this went far beyond funneling money through convention collectibles and other low cost goods. The fact that Edmund had talked them into helping the Durem team during a past Olympics didn't change the fact that they still had a hand in a lot of shady dealings around Durem. It also didn't help that they used, and likely abused, the vampire community within Durem as indentured servants disguised as lower class below minimum wage employees. The recent vampire revolt and fight with the Kuro dark elves had exposed quite a bit of the mistreatment towards the people who had been loyal to Louie Von Helson's father.

The Durem Branch of the Alliance, according to their reports, had been using their recent recruiting drives to put their support behind Louie and the vampires that were now free of the Kuro Mafioso. The main headquarters of the Alliance had decided the position being taken by the Durem branch was going to be one of the many official positions taken by the GCA. And while Durem was focused on supporting what remained of the Von Helson empire, Barton, like the main branch on Porta Denia and the Gambino branch, had decided to take a more environmental approach to their recruiting efforts. It was a position that could be used to get the local school kids interested in preserving and protecting the world's casimir trees.

The Alliance's Junior Conservation Corp was thought by some on the mainland to be nothing more than hippies in training while up on Porta Denia it was seen as a way to teach the kids on the island to respect the mother tree that kept them afloat. It took someone who knew the right ways to teach the next generation about preserving casimir trees to run the local recruiting campaign in Barton and break the stereotype that the Conservation Corp was simply a bunch of tree hugging hippies. However, not a lot of members in the Barton Branch of the Alliance were willing to step up and volunteer to pass out fliers and talk to the teenagers around Barton. The moment Aylin mentioned having grown up around casimir trees, the entire Barton Branch immediately voted her the job. It didn't help that some around Barton believed that Aylin had a very odd relationship with one particular tree in the village greens and the phrase tree hugger became a very literal thing when describing her quirky personality.

"You just had to open your big fat mouth at that recruitment drive meeting didn't you Aylin," Aylin griped to herself as she posted a flier on the community board in the Barton Square.

Posting fliers on community message boards and within the various businesses around town that allowed for such activity was one thing. It was actually talking to the kids at the high school and in the middle school that scared Aylin. Most kids around Barton weren't like her sister-in-law's grandchildren eager to hang on to her every word and willing to do their part out of familial love before a sense of duty to the world around them. It wasn't quite the hero worship she received from the new recruits in her departed husband's old regimen with the Barton Regulars but it was a form of worship none the less. Getting that same rapt attention and willingness from total strangers their age was an issue all its own. She just couldn't seem to do it lately. At least on that particular day Aylin wouldn't have to actually go inside and talk to the students at the high school she now stood outside of.

"Hopefully, someone will come to this conservation talk next week," Aylin commented as a flier was placed on the school's message board, "I wonder how many of them have even seen an actual casimir tree much less actual magic?"

(Decided to put Aylin in the vicinity of someone and spare you guys the long drawn out presentation she had to give)

Following the teacher Seren was lead to to girls sitting next to each other, one a perky looking pink haired girl and a shy little blue haired one, both seemes to be working on some drawings in there sketchbooks. Ah I see these two have hit it off already, so good to see.Once she reached there seats Seren smiled and introduced herself. Hello you two must be Primrose and Yume then? Seeing them nod she began to introduce herself. Reaching into her bag she took out two cards and presented then to the girls My name is Seren Ashton, I apologize for not meeting either of you sooner I was caught up in my club meeting this morning, anyways I am here to introduce myself as your mentor, Barton High likes to help there new freshmen by letting us seniors be able to show you around or just be here if you ever need help or a question about anything. That card has all my free periods on it as well as my cell phone number, if you need to find me at all my free periods are spent in the clubhouse behind the school. As she finished she smiled at both girls waiting to see there response.

Yume looks at prim and bows her head slightly too. "I..it's nice to me you too. T..thank you. " She gave prim a smile as she answered her question. "U..um s..sure if that's okay with you." Yume wanted to try her best to at least make a friend so why not start here by getting to know her at least. Besides there was something strange yet familiar about Prim that Yume doesn't know why. After accepting Prim's offer and reminding herself to text her mother that she will be hanging out with a classmate, she turned her attention to the teacher as a older girl with blonde hair was escorted in to introduce them to the school as well as herself for that matter. She looks at the card with all the info they needed to know where to locate her when it's free time as well as a phone number. " T..Thank you Seren... " She bows her head slightly to Seren. Good to see that we have a upperclassman who is willing to be there for us.

"I guess I could return this book." Hydro hopped out of her tree, yet to decide what she would be doing for amusement that day. For the moment, if she was going to get into the school without any questions, she'd have to be wearing something that didn't draw attention. Surely a student from Gambino Isle returning property to the school wouldn't be suspicious? Grinning, she donned a bright blue bow and a pair of maryjanes, what could be more school-girl like? Yin hid in her bow, and she walked toward the school, book in hand.User Image

Prim was getting giddy. She was excited to meet new people. This was also a great opportunity to meet more people, thanks to Seren. "Hi Seren, it's nice to meet you. I never knew there was a senior mentor program here. Maybe when I get older, I'll be a part of it too." Prim took Seren's card and smiled to her. She had so many things she wanted to explore around the school, and the talk about the club intrigued her. "I'd love to be a part of this. Count me in. Thank you."

Smiling at Yume She said Your welcome Turning to Prim she nodded Your welcome and yep it's a really great experience on both end's and your welcome to join if you wish, also I see you guys like to draw the art club meets every Tuesday and Thursday on the west wing studio on the 3rd floor if you want to check that out too. Waving as she turned to leave she wished the girls a great rest of the day and that they would enjoy them selves.

Making her way to her class across the school, she began to think about the work she had to do after school for the big club membership drives coming up maybe a cool astronomy show would get people in Yeah that would work I should go find some music at the store soon.

Prim waved back to Seren as she left. Class was nearly over now. She waited for the bell to the ring, packing up her books. She pushed her braid behind her shoulder and then smiled back to Yume. "I never knew there was so much to do here, I always kind of thought Barton was boring." she leaned back in her chair, stretching her legs forward.

Returning a book to the library had been a great deal harder than Hydro thought. There was nothing difficult about taking the book and returning it to its shelf. In daylight, however, it was a great deal harder not to take many, many other books out of the library. Barton certainly had quite an interesting selection, enough to make one consider enrolling, or transferring. Maybe a librarian job would open up here. She could never get hired in Durem, after all she was a bit young still.

If she stayed any longer the classes would adjourn and she'd find herself in a sea of students. So she quietly made her way out, but not without leaving behind a wandering snow cloud inside the school. She had to have some fun, after all.
