Raito frowned sharply at the mention of the Great Herd. "I have heard of them, true, but I was not here when they rode." He rolled his shoulders uncomfortably, wings twitching idly like he wanted to fly away from the thought of what had happened. He was glad he hadn't been here, though. He would have fought, of course. It was something he was built for, after all. But he was built for healing too, even though he had no idea how to do that yet. How did one settle two sides of oneself? Well, that was a question for another time. "I know that many lost much. It must have been a hard time for those in this area. I'm sorry for your families loss."

Raito knew he had family somewhere, those he had never met. He was alone, had always been alone, but he knew he did not spring from the earth or the sky or the light. There had to be someone who bore him. Perhaps he would come across one of his line and not even know it, one day. Rai was not sure if he desired a family or not. He did not want to think of what might happen if he bore foals and then.... disappeared like his family had. He would not want his children to walk the world alone as he did.

In a way, he envied the young colt having such a large extended family. It would be nice to have such a thing. But he didn't hold it against him. Rai was happy for the young colt, that he would grow surrounded by family. And friends, even.

His light flickered out finally, and he did not feel anymore fatigued than before. He was getting stronger, then. Secretly pleased with himself, he laughed at the colt's, at Arioso's apology.

"It is as much my fault as it is yours, so why worry about it? We know who each other are now, after all." He bowed his head and smiled. "So, why don't we see about getting you back to your family unharmed, hmm? I wouldn't mind meeting them, maybe getting your father to teach me some healing. But it is more important that you return safely, sunshine." The nickname just sort of rolled off his tongue, surprising him slightly. It wasn't like he had nicknamed anyone else before, of course, he had never met anyone else before.

"What do you say, sunshine?" He took a few paces in the direction the colt had come, looking back over his shoulder and pulling his wing out of the way so he could see Arioso. "Time to go home, or is there somewhere else you want to go. As a responsible adult, I would have to follow you wherever you decided to go, until you are safely back with your family."

Watching emotions chase across Raito's face, the colt shrugged lightly at the discussion of the great herd. It wasn't something he wanted to dwell on, those lessons were his least favorite. "I was not here either, but the stories are known to me. It is important that we learn from the events and the mistakes of the past."

Arioso watched the trace of nerves dance through the older stallion's frame, blinking in surprise at the gentle apology. "I thank you for your words, and will be happy to pass them along to my family."

Not that he was really eager to explain to his father that he went out -against orders- and met a stranger -by himself- and told said stranger many family secrets. It wasn't all that surprising that they had lost family to Skinwalkers and lost home or friends to the Great War... Most of those in the land had, after all. Still, Whistle would be better to speak to of such things, regardless. She was much more understanding of Arioso's restless hooves.

Shaking off the unpleasant thoughts, Arioso gave Raito a sunny smile instead. "Yes, I suppose that is very true. We are the better for it, in the end, and that is good enough."

The offer to escort him home was a kind one, unexpected but not unwelcome. It sort of made sense, since this stranger was a Unicorn and their conversation had started regarding healing lessons. Hopefully his sire would be back by now, and happy to meet another in need of lessons. Besides, he like Raito and the silly nickname the stallion had given him.

"Sounds fun to me." He enthused, bouncing about eagerly at the thought. "Nana will think you're interesting, and I am sure Da will be happy to help you with healing lessons. Taking you to meet them sounds a bit better than a trip to the stream today, anyhow. I can always head over there later."

Arioso was somewhat accustomed to following whatever flight of fancy found him, traveling on a whim. It seemed like Fate had just decided to help him find Raito, for she was otherwise silent. No need to travel to the river today, then, and nothing of real interest in the woods. Maybe he'd accomplished all he was meant to, today, or would once he got Raito back to the clan.

Skittering along after his new friend, Arioso fell into step and perhaps a little ahead of Raito. Without much else to do while they walked, he decided to question his new friend instead. "Did you come here with a herd, or on your own? Have you seen any others like you, the wings and stuff at least? I haven't, but I think I'd like to. I also heard there are strangers here that drink stuff called tea and have parties all the time. I think I want to meet them, but I'm not really sure where they are yet."

Raito nodded absently, still partially lost in thought. "That is one lessson that I hope never needs repating. It is good the stories are still spoken of. If we forget the horrible things, we might repeat them and that... " HIs nose wrinkled back in a bit of a snarl for a moment, gone almost before it could be seen, at the thought of being caught up in such a war, of having those he cared for hurt and killed around him. Rai was half-unicorn, true, enough in him to heal, but he was also half dragon, so there was enough of that in him to kill too. He hoped it would never come to that. Of course, to protect those he cared for he had to find someone to care for first, he supposed.

"Thank you, though it might seem strange coming from a stallion they have yet to me." He smiled a bit, hoping that the foal's family was as kind as he was. Wai was also hoping that he, too, could have healing lessons. It was a part of himself had hadn't gotten the chance to know, as of yet, and to do so along side a potential friend, even a young one, would be a nice change to his solitary practices with the Ulun'suti Light powers that he had.

Laughing softly at the colt's enthusaism, he ducked his head a bit and gestured for Arioso to take the lead. He was the one who knew where he was going, after all. Raito was a little hesitant, since he had no notion of how the family was going to react to him, after all, with his wings and spurs. But, he let his worries get washed away on the sound of the foal's voice, turning his attention to every question that he could answer with the same intensity that he used to practice with the Light.

"I came on my own, and no, I have not yet any like myself, though I know they are out there. Somewhere. Perhaps, in one of those herds I will find the truth behind my family, but I guess I would have to try and find them first." His smile was self-depricating because, while he had been alone for as long as he could remember, he did not feel the need to search out the blood of his blood. Maybe it was because he was alone so much that he didn't think he needed to find out where it came from, or perhaps it was his fear of disappointment, theirs or his own, that kept him from really searching. One day, maybe, he would find who he hailed from, if he had any siblings, of if he just followed a star out of the mist and ended up here. "Tea... I think I may have tried that at some point. Is it the drink that has a variety of dried leaves steeped in it? Parties..." Raito smirked, and let that thought trail off into other side conversation, letting the colt lead him home.
