Jett was quiet for a second, obviously debating; he then looked away and shrugged, and it seemed as though he were going to try and brush everything off...
But then he looked at her, lips slightly pursed, and sighed. "No, don't worry about me. Don't lose sleep over me. I was just thinking about how much longer we could keep this up for. I'm..."
He was quiet, and it was obvious that he was loathe to speak of any weakness. Especially his own. But there were some things he would take with him to the grave, or some things he could only share with Raven.
But he did not need to lie to Mintaka about this, not when he was sure she could see it in his face. "I am tired. I feel...old. I hate putting so much forward and seeing no return. I don't know how long everyone has left. But everyone is getting restless. I don't know what that means, good or bad, but I just want you to be ready. Things are going to change, in the very near future. I have no doubt about it. You just need to be ready for it, all right?"
He seemed calm, and while there were always going tone things he kept from her, he relaxed enough that he did look tired. A sort of tired that no sleep could cure. But he refused to let doubt or weakness cling to him, so he looked at the girl and smiled, faintly as it was. "I guess, just keep up he good work. You're there best thing for these people here, and I figure things are going to get a lot worse before they get any better, so they're going to need you. So just hold strong, I suppose."

"The answer is forever." Fai shrugged, "Until we all give up at some point. This war has waged for 1000 years already, and the upperhand was always and has been Order, it makes sense that Chaos would have it's turn." She hesitated only for the briefest moments.
Her arms wrapped around the man's and she squeezed him. It wasn't romantic, as she was very much deeply in love with Magiore and Jett had Raven, but the need to comfort was truly expressed in the way she just hugged him. "I'm sorry. You've been fighting so hard and so long Jett." She sighed, letting him go. "It's the same for you Jett. You've been such a rock, such a solid foundation for others." She squeezed his arm again, "It's naturally to feel the way you do, for what happens to a rock when it's currently beaten away by the waves of the ocean. It chips and wears away. But..." She smiled a little to herself, "Only little by little. I'm trying to be the rock here, It's been hard, of course it has but I wouldn't trade it for the alternative. Dead or corrupted, a world of nothing." She clenched her own hand back into her pants. "Don't give up, Do whats best for you Jett. For your family. All we can do is make the best of what we've got."

Jett listened with an almost distracted look--but he had been paying attention. Close attention. And he didn't disagree with her, but what could he do beyond keep fighting? He wasn't a quitter, but Jett was a sore loser--and this felt like a fast track to defeat. He was obstinate, but realistic. He would fight until the end--however bitter it might have been. And even if he didn't come out on top, he was going to make as big of a dent as possible.
And he was going to make sure his family was safe.
"Hey," he said, flashing the faintest smile. "It wasn't so long ago everyone was fussing over the Dark Mirror Senshi being corrupted--and I gotta saying, being in the Dark Mirror Court isn't so bad. You should try it sometime," he said, winking at her.
It was only a joke, but he needed to deflect from the topic. Weakness between enemies was bad, but for him? Betwee friends was worse. He had an image to uphold, and if he was supposed to be somebody's rock, he wasn't going to let them see him chipping away.
He gave Fai a quick, grateful little pat on the back, but it was about all he could do to thank her. "You're pretty nice to talk to, you know. For a rock."

"Still don't get that." She shrugged, "Oh yes, maybe once upon a time ago I would join you and Arilee, but you know, I look so much better in white." She laughed, knowing it was easier to go from serious to not serious for both of them. She wasn't a dweller if she could help it, even if he seemed like it.
"Oh thanks, you know us rocks gotta stick together right?" she laughed, "and once all the rocks stick together, we'll form a island in the middle of the ocean and carve out a paradise right?" She was joking because thats all she could come up for metaphors. She could feel the watchful gaze of Magiore and looked over her shoulder to see him waiting.
"Ah. Is there anything else you'd like to see?" She asked politely before leaning in, "Magiore is making-" She brought her fingers up in air quotes, "The face. He's probably feeling a bit lonely..." She waggled her eyebrows. "But really, is there anything you'd like to see? I hate to let you leave but you know, businesses must be attended too." She really just wanted to have him and Raven and their daughter just all scoop up and come with her here. Out of the question but she could hope!

Jett just laughed and nodded. "Business, of course. Yes, I understand. I've got quite a bit that needs tending to, myself. But thank you for the tour. It was nice, I'm glad to see you doing well. I'd say keep up the good work, but I warrant you would without any motivation."
He waved and flashed a small smile. "I'll see myself out, you take care of your man. I'll drop by again in the relatively near future."
Depending, of course, on how long his work was going to keep him.
And right now...
He had a work list like hell.
But this...this was nice. He had to make a note to visit again soon; he felt better about all of this than he had in a long time.
