Avant smiled at his sister, imaging the little foal doing exactly as she described, with his whole herd trying to protect and comfort him. It was an amusing thought, but he didn't really think it would work out that way. And, one thing he did know, there were more of the foal's herd than there were the two of them. Prudence suggested that making an enemy of them was not wise. Fun, probably, but not wise. Not that the plan he was slowly concocting was smart, but it would be more entertaining than anything else, he thought.

"Leaving, so soon?" He drawled lightly, with a subtle shake of his head. He didn't mind his sister leaving, given that what he had in mind for the foal, eventually, wouldn't concern her too much. Probably. Maybe. And if it did, he didn't really care.

Avant wasn't too sure about the sudden plan he had going on in his head, however, it seemed like a lot of work for very little reward. But there was something about the foal... He wouldn't put a name to it beyond the fact that the little sparrow seemed oh so corruptible. Avant was sure he would have fun doing that, a sort of revenge for having to save the foal's sire. He never did like being put in a position where he had to do something he didn't want to do.

"Honorable and sane are not always the same thing." He counted idly. "And sometimes it is better to be sane than honorable." Avant wondered the the fast grin the other showed, gone again almost immediately. He found himself wondering what caused it, and being annoyed that he couldn't figure it out.

"Perhaps I have bigger plans for you than dead." He didn't say better, because he couldn't say that it wouldn't be better for the little sparrow if he didn't just want him dead. It was amusing, either way, so he smiled.

"I obey my oaths the way I wish to. Would you rather I obey they letter and just kill you?" He took a menacing step forward, wings flaring wide so he'd be able to take off before the foal if he decided to run. "Tell me, Delrialto, wouldn't it be smart not to question my motives when they are benefiting you. For the time being, anyway?"

Avant laughed aloud, amused despite himself at the little sparrow. This was going to be rather fun. "No. I don't think I will do that just yet. Unless you have some pressing matters to attend, wouldn't it be more fun to follow me?" He had no clue where he was going to lead the little one, but he didn't want their interaction to end quite yet. He wanted to make a bigger impression on the foal. Big enough that no matter what life threw at Delrialto, he would never forget this particular Fayth.

For a moment she could see consideration flicker through his eyes. Could see as Avant debated on making quick work of the colt and then leaving him to the mercy of fate. Though there wouldn't be much fun in it considering how short a game it would be, and it was hardly to their taste to eat other Soquili. To maim or maul or generally injure was one thing, but to truly eat them was something else entirely. Perhaps it was her mixed blood, but Keshani had no true desire to eat her fellows. Not when birds or rabbits or other such prey were tastier and more appealing to her.

Regardless of the matter, Avant was not interested in becoming the harm that befell the colt...

Keshani tilted her head, eyes glinting as she tilted her head to catch Avant's look. She could see he was amused by the matter, but he was not interested in harming or killing the colt. He was already fond of the little wind, and once Avant claimed something that was the end of it. He wouldn't let harm come to the foal, but the colt didn't have to know that just yet.

Not that it mattered, for truly Kesha had no interest in being around foals. If her brother wanted to once again adopt someone's stray, or even amuse himself by merely keeping company with the lost bird, it was of no interest to her. Still, if he had a plan for her in this game, she could not see it. And she gave him a look that she hoped would express that.

"If you will not let me hunt him or beat him and leave him for his clan to find, I fail to see what my reward is in all of this." She murmured, giving her brother a faint smile. "I think I shall take my leave, if it is all the same to you. I hope you can handle matters without my supervision? If not, I shall gladly remain to ensure the little sparrow does not overwhelm you. Truth be told, if I left you to his tender mercies and you were overrun, I do not think I could live with the guilt of it all."

Delri watched the siblings share a smile with something like dread brewing in his chest. He felt safer -relatively- with the stallion, there was something uncaring and uninterested in the mare's eyes. She had no use for him, the look in her gaze told him so. It was nothing to her if he died or was injured and his injury brought sorrow to his clan. He was worth nothing to her, beyond the potential amusement brought on by his injury, terror or death. But Avant had another plan in mind, even if he wouldn't say what it was.

'Still, if he's trying to uphold the spirit of the oath and trying to keep you safe, he might be what father refers to as 'the Lesser Evil'.'

"I'm not sure of a situation in which that doing a sane thing would be better than doing the honorable thing." He argued, but it was a soft statement... He was just a kid, and there were a lot of things he didn't know.

'... bigger plans for you than dead...'

"That much is likely and rather obvious." Delri sighed, shifting on his hooves. "The only reason you wouldn't kill me is if I was more entertaining to you alive. If you obey the oath as you like, and follow it in accordance with your own whims, what is the value in you giving your word to others? So then, even with the oath to Grandsire and Akaria, there is no way they would know if I was dead that it was you that killed me."

He trailed off, ears flattening apprehensively as the stallion stepped forward, clearly threatening. Delri drifted backward, wings flaring in reaction. "It probably would, but what is sane is not always honorable. And even if it is not sane, I will speak truthfully and I will act with honor. So then, Avant, why not kill me?"

He glared up at the kalona at the laughter. "Follow you where?"

And why? Why did Avant want him to follow?

Avant could feel himself grinning, caught in his sisters gaze. He could practically feel what she was thinking, wondering about him, about what he was doing. It was true that he had, in the past, paid too much attention to foals that had the potential of being so very entertaining, giving up his valuable time and experience to watch a Kalona-Unicorn mix tear himself up from the inside out. It was... amusing, to say the least. He really didn't understand the desire to breed with one of the pure-blooded Unicorns. As he eventually wanted to have proper children, he didn't want them to be maddened by their blood. Mad in other ways, perhaps. It would depend on what the mare, he supposed, and the children.

But that was a tale for a different time.

And this, this was something... different. Avant didn't claim to understand it yet, not that he let that show on his face. Let his sister think that he had a plan, that he had some idea of what he was going with the young sparrow.

He didn't, but no one needed to know that.

Laughing softly, he regarded Keshani fondly. "I'm sure you would handle the guilt just fine, sister mine, but it is not something you need worry over. I think I can handle a few annoying grounds. Besides, I have had dealings with them before. Take you leave, if that is what you desire."

Honestly, it would be easier if he didn't have to worry about his sister trying to harm the colt. He just couldn't have that, not right now. Perhaps he would set his sister on the young sparrow at some point but... Some part of him doubted it.

Avant didn't normally listen to that part of himself, however, so he disregarded the notion.

Turning his attention fully toward the colt, dismissing his sister entirely, he smiled. It wasn't really a nice smile, but that was par for the course with him. No one should expect any different. "You are young yet. I'm sure you will find that there are may situations that require you to choose between sanity and honor." He chuckled. "It is one of the reasons that I am glad I am... flexible with it comes to either."

Avant shrugged at him, wings shifting with the movement. "The value in my word is that I do keep it, though it may not be in the way the soul I give it too expects. Which is hardly my problem. As long as I keep my work, what matter is it what way I do it?"

Barking a laugh, he shook his head. "No, that clever fox would figure it out if I did kill you. She is annoying in that way. And I am sure she would find a way to make my life miserable until I killed her." Avant shrugged again, knowing, somehow, that if he harmed the colt, he would either have to kill the entire clan or disappear. Neither appealed to him at the moment, so keeping the sparrow alive was the best. For now.

"I already told you why I would not kill you." Avant took another step closer, circling. "I'd think most would be happier about it, instead of trying to convince me to kill them." He stepped close enough, quickly enough, that he reached out with a wing and touched the side of Delrialto's face, amused. "But you aren't like most others, are you?"

Shaking his head, he smirked at Delrialto. "If you want to know so badly, I suggest you do follow me." Avant ducked his head to hide a smile. "Think of it as an... adventure."

Taking another moment to examine the wind colt that seemed to have such magic over her sibling, Keshani ignored Avant's grin, refusing to comment on it and further stoke his amusement. He had found enough humor at her expense, she would not feed it further. Though she wondered what sport could be found with the little wind, she would not press the matter. Avant would share his game whenever he felt he had a reason to, or it would become apparent when he wished. There was no matter of bargaining or arguing that would way him to do otherwise.

She would no longer attempt to argue him out of wasting his time on a foal. Keshani knew all to well how that path could end, had adopted a daughter and it nearly broke her heart to lose the filly. She had tried to dissuade Avant from making a similar mistake with a colt they had crossed paths with some time ago, as well, and not been successful. Now, if he wanted to play with this lost Windling, he was free to do it.

"I will wish you the joy of your game then... And renewing your acquaintance with these grounds." She murmured, sensing that at this moment her brother would be glad to be rid of her. "I will take my leave then... Enjoy yourself."

She turned to walk away, hesitating to glance at the colt. He was scared of her, but he paid attention to Avant. That was, interesting... "And you.. I am sure we shall meet again... So, take care whom you cross paths with until then."

With another low sound of amusement Keshani turned away, her tail lashing idly as she drifted into the forest and away from the pair at her back. Let Avant have his amusement where he could find it, she would go discover her own game.

As much as Delri hated the constant glancing back and forth as he attempted to split his focus between the two, he knew it was the wisest decision. Of course, as soon as he had the thought he'd lose track of it and be gazing up at Avant, waiting to see what the stallion would decide... Or what he would allow his sister to do.

Turning his head to fix one blue on the mare, Delri allowed himself to sink into absolute stillness. She was considering leaving, based on her discussion with her brother, and Delri didn't want an ill-timed movement to dissuade her. So he did his best to be still, and only rolled his eyes to consider her or Avant as they bid each other farewell. When she was gone he relaxed, some of the tension escaping and his wings unfurling to hang loosely at his sides.

He couldn't even react to Avant's smile, watching the stallion with something like weariness. "I do not want to make such a choice, for I was raised to value both. As for the rest, I am not sure that works unless you are interacting with a bloodline. What cares one you give your word to if you keep it with someone they have to tie to? And if you harm the one you gave your word to instead, I would still think the oath would count as broken."

He didn't much feel like remarking on Akaria knowing Avant was the killer, should he end up dead. It was true, she probably would... And in the dead of night there was every chance she would steal into whatever den he had claimed as his own, and tear at Avant's tendons as he slept. Probably cripple him, out of spite and fury. And Delri rather doubted Avant would be able to catch her then, not if she had her way.

"Let us just say I do not trust you all so deeply as that, and I keep waiting for you to change your mind." Delri countered, watching the stallion circle him. "Less that I am trying to talk you into it, and more that I am tired of the deception. Kill me or do not, I am beyond dwelling on it."

The brush of a wing to his face made him jump, his chin lifting and eyes going wide. He didn't dart away from it, and could not lean into it either, though it was a sort of kindness. Instead he remained still, eyes wide.

"I suppose I am not." He agreed softly, slumping faintly when Avant turned away, feeling like strings holding him tall had been cut and he left to collapse. The words caught his attention, made his head turn and ears flick. "An adventure?"

Cautiously, he took a step after the Kalona.
