Ellie groaned, since answering questions was not what she felt like doing at that very moment.
Answering her question with another question was not something she'd typically go for, but eventually the blonde offered in a groggy voice "When he gave me his bullsh*t political answer... I figured it wasn't gonna work... I still did what I could... but that's all I can do. Use a crystal, let it suck all my life outta me, and hope fer a miracle."
The cat still seemed to have enough sense to mind her manners as she gradually approached the bag Xanthus set aside for her. She was about to start leaning her head into the bag's opening when he offered Ellie the tacos.
Like a guilty child, she stopped in place, her mouth open as she stared back to where the blonde girl was.
Ellie didn't have the energy to move from her position, but she groaned out "Naw, it'll be soggy... let th'cat pig out..."
With the pseudo-permission, the cat's head began to sink into the bag once again.
Once more, Ellie repeated her question from earlier. "So... th'f*ck's up?"

Ellie knew. How? What had she seen that Lydia missed? She'd thought the man was honest with them. That he was doing this because he wanted to. Why would anyone try it otherwise, knowing the consequences? Even aside from the pain he must have suffered, he had to deal with possible persecution by those he'd once called allies. And then there was what happened after... It looked like a hopeless situation, though she wasn't willing to call it one just yet.
Ellie knew what might happen all along, and she went through with her end of the bargain anyway. In case there was a chance for it to work. Her devotion to what she thought was right went beyond words, "bullsh*t political" ones or otherwise, even with the knowledge that there would be repercussions. Knowing that gave Lydia the strength to speak, even though what she really wanted was to scream, or sob, or hit a pillow.
"Everyone was upset by what happened." She stifled an inappropriate chuckle. Wasn't that the understatement of the century? "Some people began to argue about it." Her eyes darted briefly towards Kairatos, then were back on Ellie. "But once everyone had their say, it looked like things would calm down. And then, the man- I never got his name- he, he had a knife, and-"
Something caught in her throat, and she bit her knuckles to keep from wailing. Because no matter how many times she thought back to that moment, it still hurt, almost as though she was the one who had been stabbed. And wasn't that selfish of her, to think of herself as a victim of this situation, when practically everyone else involved was hurting far more than she was?
There was little more she could say, but she had to get it all out. "The lady knight made a very bright light. I think she was trying to stop the man, but I didn't clearly see what happened after that. But she and Miss Ida both disappeared suddenly. Or at least, their auras did. ********* spoke to them. And then- and then we came back here."
It sounded terrible when she said it. Like she had abandoned a bad situation. Orders or no orders, should she have stayed there and tried to help, knowing that any action she took would have been too late to matter?

...Had. A knife.
Xanthus stiffened at this, having a sudden unfortunate memory of the way Bishophite had been talking prior to the purification, and felt an ugly lurch in the pit of his stomach.
Surely his little civilian pal couldn't have..
Not a half...
Well maybe. But there would be a body, right? He was only half Youma, he wouldn't be just dust...parts of him might be but...
"s**t,seriously??" He felt awful himself. He should have dug in his heels, told ********* to figure out another way to get herself the goddamn take out.. he could have been there.
"I'll look into it." He offered. "He was ok talking to me before, if he's still alive, he might talk to me again. I can find out if there was anything other than melodrama getting in the way... I mean... if you want to know."
"He may not have been sure about the purification thing but he was damn sure he didn't want to stay half monster."

The blonde seemed to sag slightly as she listened, but she did seem to be making an effort to absorb all the information as Lydia explained it.
Even if she was awake and full of energy it would have still been a lot to process. With a sleepy blink, Ellie made an accurate assessment of the situation.
"...so it all went t'hell..."
The thing that stood out to the tomboy was the civilian amongst all the powered individuals. What role did he play in the whole ordeal to Bischofite?
"...*********... you said that dude was an ally... care t'share anythin'...?"
The cat's head popped up slowly from the bag of fast food, some reddish sauce clearly decorating her maw. "I know it would be helpful if I just told you who he was... but I also try to respect every person's right to keeping their identity secret. Otherwise many, many, many more people would know your identity when you are in the fuku, Ellie."
Before sinking back into her junk food glory, the Mauvian added "...I will say that his stances on the war are not the stances of the majority o the war... his actions may have been extreme, but they do not represent what every senshi feels is necessary for the war."

No one was chastising her for abandoning a bad situation. Which wasn't a guarantee that she'd made the right decision, but Lydia decided that she had more important things to worry about than how best to blame herself. That wasn't going to help her, or Mister Alois, or Ellie, or anyone else.
"Would you really be able to find out? Would it be okay to let us know?" The thought of not knowing the fate of someone they had tried to help was really weighing on her. But she had never met Mister Alois before that night. In truth, they had barely met at all. She had only been there as part of Iris' entourage, and her identity was not important in the larger scale of things. Which also made her feel like she had no right to probe into his life.
Kairatos was different. He had come from the same place, and had a better idea of what was going on. Considering he'd been there for the purification, he might even know Mister Alois personally. So he could find out what had happened, and let her know if there was even a cause left to champion.
That was a load off her mind, but ********* gave her something new to worry about. "That man was... like us? But then he knew that there might be other options." Lydia didn't know what other options there were, just that she refused to believe they might not exist. "And he still... even if his opinion isn't the popular one, how can we hope to help people when our own allies don't support our actions?"

"It's... Well it's worth a shot. You know?" I'll do what I can and get back to you. If anyone can find out who Captain stabby is though, that's worth knowing too. I dunno if he'll volunteer that or not. I mean they both went out of their way to hide that he wasn't just a civilian..."
He certainly hadn't been cued in, but then, he wasn't a cat.
"You couldn't even count on full agreement within the Negaverse, it happens. We may not be able to change his mind but if we can find out who he is as a Senshi or whatever, then we can get more information on his stance and whether or not we need to keep him... both sides of him... the hell away from any future purification until he cools his jets and leaves the knife at home.... Was he a senshi? I have no idea if you guys can tell a knight thats powered down or not..." He added, in question to *********. It seemed a reasonable question.

The cat didn't even lift her head from the bag as questions were prodded in her direction. However, the Mauvian still was relatively attentive, even if there were a couple sounds of a squishy food variety.
"...Every person is entitled to their opinions... his just happen to be very pessimistic at times."
The bag rustled a bit before she moved onto Xanthus' inquiries.
"We have no ability to identify a knight outside of their powered form, but that does not mean I have not met any knights and that I do not know of the secret identities. I tend to keep pretty busy on a good day!"
A certain tomboy seemed to have gone quiet, but the fact of the matter was she was flat out unconscious again.

Something about the way Kairatos phrased that made Lydia frown. It was probably just meant to be witty, but what if the man was with the Negaverse? What if he had come along to put an end to a potential traitor? That was crazy, there was no way someone trying to escape would bring someone still tied to the Negaverse. Unless he was trying to set an example, and it all went horribly wrong-
But ********* said she knew him. That wouldn't be the case if he were that kind of Captain. For some reason, remembering that didn't ease her mind at all.
"I'm sure you have your own reasons to look into the matter, but if you would be willing to let us know what happened, it would be... nice." It wasn't really her place to speak on Ellie's behalf as well, but that made her acceptance of his offer feel less like poking her nose where it didn't belong. Even though her own role in the proceedings had been tiny, Ellie had a right to know how things turned out. And if she could find out too, just to set her heart at ease, then so much the better.
With the way she was feeling at that moment, Lydia wasn't sure she could argue against a pessimistic viewpoint. But the man with the knife had been part of her good humor taking a dive, so what did that mean about the way he saw the world, if anything?
"I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinions," she said slowly, "but no one is entitled to make that kind of life-altering choice for another. If we have to fight against our own people trying to kill the ones we hope to save... how can we succeed?"
No wonder their side was a mess, with so many people working against each other. And no wonder some people felt more comfortable with the seemingly singular goal that the Negaverse had. For the first time, Lydia could understand, just a little bit, why people might willingly turn to Chaos. And that little bit of understanding terrified her all over again.
