That sounds awesome. I can set it up so it's like the door prizes where it's the more they post the better the chances are they'll have of being the three lucky people if that's easier for you. That way you can spread out when you do the headshots and it'll help keep people posting in the thread. With the charms if you do help out making them I was thinking we could design them after the old paper gift tags and then have someone with a graphics program use a free font to add someone's name to it.

Also, would you from a random thread goer standpoint do something like a small random number contest for a goldfish in a bag or would that turn people off?

Maybe the goldfish in a bag could be a default participation prize? It's only 240 gold, after all. Other prizes could be a Goldfish Scarf (still rather inexpensive) or a Gold Cache.

I keep going back and forth on the goldfish thing because the last random number contest we tried to have did not go over well because barely anyone played and no one won. Plus, I really want to try and keep things quick and easy to do if we're going to have little items to sell for fundraising.

I don't know, maybe I'd be more excited about this if we had more active people in here and more people offering to help. I mean I want to do this but it doesn't feel like anyone is really excited for this or wants to have any of the things I'm throwing out there and then I'm stuck running everything in the end. While the ideas are good, I just don't have the enthusiasm to go with every last thing being mentioned in here.

Back up to the beginning of everything for HUGE moment here. Before we can move on to anything new I need to know a few things first. Because NO ONE said yes or no to a lot of things I mentioned before everyone started throwing out their own ideas.

✖ Are we having a Best Dressed contest for human base avatars?
✖ Are we having a Best Dressed contest for animal base avatars?
✖ Do people really want to have some kind of goldfish "scooping" game?
✖ If we say yes to that HOW are we going to run it because random number/dice roll games FAILED on us last time.
✖ Do we want to have a fifty-fity fundraising raffle again because that FAILED on us last time too.
✖ Is the idea of having Door Prizes a good one?

If we went with just what I thought of having that's FIVE games and contests to run during the event along with art freebies BEFORE we get to anything new. I really need to know if we should take on anything else if we're going to have all of that and who's going to help run anything or is it going to be all me. I really need to know.

The Door Prizes and Best Dressed for the human and animal bases sounds great. It would be a bit intimidating doing a the raffle and the dice roll if they didn't work out so well last time but we could always gift the dice roll another chance?

It would be taxing having so many things going on.

The best dressed avatar contest sound good, but perhaps we could have a theme for it, somehow relating to nature/festival/spirit/japanese themed. Either we can require a certain item to be used or that it fit certain theme requirements. Hopefully it would reflect the theme of the event, making it more likely for persons to want enter their own avatars anyway. We all know once an event is announced we dress up our avatars for it. It's a lower-maintenance contest. YES unless it becomes too taxing.

Two door prizes...I believe you can do a RND to decide the page and post, this is low maintence as well, and it encourages posting. So, YES.

Fifty/Fifty Fundraising raffle. I think our efforts are better spent elsewhere. I'm going to say a confident NO on this.

Other games: Having to create graphics for these or coming up with some way to do a game is kinda risky as well. So I'm saying NO to most of these, but with a caveat below.

I still really like the idea of free or inexpensive charm graphics. Meushi responded and said she'd be good with me doing it, yay! If free, I would incorporate more of the GCA into them, otherwise the cost could help with our fundraising. I would again, appreciate anyone would can put names on these to help. YES charms please.


Another thing I would like to propose: There are a lot of japanese items that could make for good inexpensive giveaways. I think we should do random small item giveaways themed for the festival. I think this would work better than the booth. We can do this type of gifting immediately and run it through the festival. We can do it like Lithium's give away thread with stories behind the items. This is something that we can "pre-start" as well, I can write well enough to come up with some stories (though any ideas are welcome). This way, we could possibly incorporate some ideas that we can't pull off in game form, but can still inspire some fun. Also, I'll try to write the mini-stories so they sound like lore....we are treely (yes, TREELY) scholars after all, let's act like it. Instead of gold fish catching and fortune telling stands (though I do love the ideas, guys) let's use these ideas in combination with our speculative plot analysis and create some freaking awesome stories instead! I honestly think that will be more exciting than games we can't really produce or run without more effort than it might be worth. emo Sorry guys, but I gotta be real here, I'm strongly against the roleplay games here. We don't really have the manpower for it. Random giveaways, YES.


I've already volunteered to do the charms if Meushi does not want to create them herself. I could use help with orders if we get a lot of demand. I also would like to think up a reasonable amount of options. I'm doing the three headshots to be given out. I'll also help with the stories and items being gifted. That's my limit. However, I have taken the suggestions Chibi and others have talked about and figured out how to get the most out of our limited time and finances.

However. Chibi cannot do this by herself. I alone cannot help her with all the rest of the work she cannot do. We can work together and get this stuff going where it should not burden anyone and be lots of fun in the process.

I think if everyone can help with random gifting, posting, and support/advertise the Avatar contests, the Door Prizes, and help out a little overall we can make a great thread for the event.

Ok so here's an idea about how to do all of this. Mind you this is ONLY a idea so all you guys can go BOO URNS scream if you like.

We should make the event be a small lite RP event where it's like a small town setting up booths. Which person who is helping with the event will have a "booth". For the art part, such as head shots, freebies and other art related things, that will be a Artist Row booth kind of thing.

And by booths I mean Post. Even if we use the guild's mule or we each post a holding spot on the first page of the thread.

All the contest will be a it's own booth. This will include Avatar Contests, the Fan and Lantern ones and whatever we can think of.

All the games will be it's own booth too. This will include the The Fish Scoop idea, because it's a good idea. I suggest it be a random number kind of thing where those who get the number get the fish. Make it smaller number though, like out of a 100. That way more people win but never everyone!

I could host a 'booth" where the charms be can be done,(By Hydro if she'd like to do that!) Where I can give out "fortunes", where I give them all silly Tarot Card like readings and then give them a Badge of some kind. NOt sure what I could give yet.

We could do a Food booth which could something not completely food related but make something about prizes or the like. Maybe be about food for thought and hae a bunch of links to places and stuff.


Of course like I said this is all an idea. I'm not 100% sure what we plan on doing so I'm just tossing in there before everything is final.

One thing that hasn't been brought up but we should NOT do is the "wish tree". It is being done by the D-Party and we should differentiate ourselves from them, as there will be peeps visiting both threads. I'll probably be checking out their stuff when the event comes. smile

I'm not confident about the RP/booths. However, either way I am already signed up for a lot with the random anon project I'm starting (and could use help with), making the charms, AND doing line art. So I would unlikely be unable to help with the RP/booths idea anyway if they become a reality. If you are passionate about that idea and want to make it happen, make sure you're letting Chibi know.
