"Well, you two are some of the hardest workers I've ever met!! How fantastic, just fantastic. And you're twins, which is even better - except I can't tell the two of you apart. So!"
Terry held up a finger with one hand while he rummaged around in his man-purse with the other. With a flourish he produced two slips of paper.
"Dye vouchers!! But it comes with a rule. You have to get different colored shirts so I can tell you apart! As for the fence, we need to gather wood first! Building will come next!"
Rennati didn't get very far before Terry Tuggle caught up to her and pulled her aside. At first, she thought she was going to be in trouble or maybe he would just thank her for trying and ask her to leave like what happened so often with her parents. But it seemed nothing of the sort was going to happen. 'If you believe in yourself, trainee, there isn't anything that you can't accomplish.' It was simple, and she'd heard it more than once, but coming from Terry, it seemed to matter so much more...as well as the brightly-knit kitten socks. She smiled genuinely at him before going off much more confidently than she had been, the socks still in her hand as she saw Larisa. "Hey look what Terry Tuggle just gave me! They're kinda neat, huh?"
Whatever Terry's little speach and gift did, it seemed to help as she was finding so much wood it was difficult to carry it back. But the big smile was still on her face the entire time!
There was still a lot of wood to be gathered. Axel took his time this round, trying to select straight timbers that would make good fence posts. Quality over quantity, right?
The armful he delivered wasn't as impressive as his last, but at least he was sure all of the pieces would be useful. Aaaand he had another splinter. Axel sucked his palm, considering the barren little garden. He wasn't sure why a fence was necessary yet. He couldn't imagine what an animal would want to steal from this dusty patch of earth.
Shakuntala let out a bedraggled breath. After returning to the fields to help fetch more logs, the run had taken more out of her than the actual haul. She had only managed to cradle two her in arms to add to the pile. She looked to her own lack of initiative with a silent frown. In the pit of her stomach, she felt she wasn't giving it her all like the others.
Stepping off to the side, she leaned against one of the nearby buildings and wiped a hand across her brow. Hard work or not, Shakuntala was beginning to feel the dawn of the humid day.

Axel wasn't the only one taking a break from gathering wood. He glanced over at the dark-haired girl. Since the horse-talking thing he'd felt a little awkward around Tala. He supposed now was as good a time as any to make amends.
Still picking at the splinter in his palm, Axel headed over to where the horse-loving girl was resting. "Hey Tala. What d'you think of this peace garden thing?" He grinned as he said it. Peace Garden. Working for Terry Tuggle was better than being shouted at by Santos, but it was weird.

Shakuntala kept her eyes elsewhere, even when she registered Axel's approach in her direction. Like him, she was aware of the fact that the last time they had crossed paths was during a peculiar exchange she happened to be audience to. And, like him, there was awkwardness when it came to their meeting and seems to intensified a thousandfold on her end. How are she to talk to Axel without letting that matter slip through the cracks?
"Ahh..." she croaked out, sliding eyes over the pile of collected wood, then returned her glance to a very interesting blade of grass. "I-its, um, it's coming along n-nicely?"
Shakuntala looked to him momentarily before her maroon orbs jumped back to that sliver of green. My, what an interesting blade of grass it was. It was just to verdant. "What... W-what do you... think?"

Just once in a while, Axel thought, it would nice to talk to a girl that didn't act weirded out by him. At least Tala wasn't outright hostile. And at least she had a genuine reason to think he was weird. He looked at the fascinating blade of grass, pondering the lovely symmetry of it. Yep, that was one my-tee-fine piece of grass right there. Ayep, it sure was.
It would be difficult to say with any honesty that the peace garden was coming along nicely, but Axel struggled to come up with a compliment anyways. "It's nice that everyone's helping out," he said finally.
Axel tore his gaze away from the mesmerizing emerald depths of the blade of grass and looked back at Tala. "Sorry about that horse thing, by the way. That was dumb of me." He laughed.
Yesenia came barreling into the clearing with two armfuls of wood. "Outta the way, outta the way!" Dropping the wood into the pile, the braided girl laughed merrily as she ran off to get more lumber.

Yesenia returned shortly after with a small armful of wood. Dropping it in the pile, she called out to Tuggle. "Hey, Capn Tugs~!" She called out, having apparently decided the man who would supply her with fresh lemons was worthy of being a captain. "There anything else I can do to help speed up the lemon process~?" Her eyes twinkled with a mixture of eagerness and anticipation.

Shakuntala's was positive that she had saw the blade grow a millimeter. Positive of it. Go forth, little grass, do you growing. She was rooting for you.
"Er, i-it is," Shakuntala agreed half-hardheartedly with a dip of her chin. She didn't mean to take his statement to heart, but going back to the fact she felt she hadn't contributed enough as others, the weight of this realization pushed down further on her shoulders. She wrung her hands nervously behind her back and gave the male a thin smile as silence touched her lips.
His following apology was completely unexpected. Not that she thought it wasn't going to be brought up -- on the contrary, she believed it would eventually -- but never so early in their conversation. Cutting through all of the red tape, it seemed. Shakuntala scratched the back of her head and shook her head at him.
"I-it's all right..." she replied. If the blade a grass had fingers, she was positive it'd give her a thumbs up right now. "D-don't worry about it... It's... I-it's nothing, really..."
You must roll 2d20 and RP Yesenia going to find the cart.
If your roll beats mine, she's able to get the cart working, and can now roll 3d20 each day!!
However! If your roll is less than mine, she fails in fixing the cart and she loses the +1d10 boost she's got going for her now.
The choice is yours! She does not have to go after the cart, but can instead decide to continue on with her current boosted roll per day.
"Yesenia, you are just unstoppable! Such work ethic! Such devotion! Such determination!!"
Terry was almost sparkling. What a precious trainee the girl was! He was so proud, the man was almost glowing. Plus, she'd called him Cap'n Tugs.
It warmed his heart.
"Now that you mention it, trainee, there is something you can do! On the other side of the grounds there's a cart. Last time I saw it, the wheel was broken - but I think you've got the grit and elbow grease to get it all fixed up, shiny and new!! Go on, now! If you can get the cart working, you can use it to gather wood!"
Yesenia's eyes brightened up. A cart would be just the thing to really get this going. "On it, Capn~!" Yesenia charged off with impressive speed to find the aforementioned cart.
Once she had found it, the girl got to work trying to fix the wheel. It was mangled in all the right places. Even some of the wrong ones. What the hell happened to this wheel, man?" She wondered aloud. Unfortunately, Yesenia had little to no knowledge of fixing things, let alone a lost cause like this one. Dejected, she walked back to the garden.

"You can't tell us apart? I'm so hurt!" Jeong-jae gasped in mock offense. The twins were pretty used to this spiel but this was the first time they'd been given something to try and correct the problem. Well, maybe not. He remembered one time in the past they were given different necklaces to wear but that'd proved to give them more ways to confuse other by swapping through out the day. A shirt would be harder to quickly slip off and change without anyone noticing but hey- challenge accepted!
"Thanks anyway. We'll get back to the wood unless you need us for anything else!" Turning to leave, he stuffed the dye vounchers in his pockets and started racing Hwan-jae up the hill. He was curious about the broken cart the man had mentioned to Yesenia but figured he'd leave it alone unless she asked for help. She seemed like the kind of girl who liked doing things for herself first!
((Not sure if the cart thing is over or if we can jump in to give Yesenia a hand still!))
Oh good. Awkward apology over. Feeling much more cheerful now, Axel smiled at Tala. Finding her at the Peace Garden was actually kind of surprising. As far as Axel could tell, the quiet girl spent most of her time with the horses.
The relief of Tala accepting his apology brightened his outlook on the whole garden thing considerably. "Maybe we could do something fun here, once we finish with the wood," Axel said brightly. "Like paint it! Maybe we could paint the fence. Decorate it."
