Calm down, Korra.

Lex gave Claude an honest to goodness pout, rolling his eyes, shaking his head, and pinching the bridge of his nose. Of course she'd come out on top - of course fate had arranged for this whole shebang to happen.

"Just don't get yourself killed." Lex grumped, standing now and beginning to pace the small confines of his once dorm now turned storage closet that was repaired after the bomb on his wrist exploded.

"So you have your weapon, then? Division assignment? Or did you just blunder out of the pod chamber and start hunting me down?"

He was grumping, and Claude was finally cracking a smirk. That 'I got you' smirk. She gave an idle wave of her hand in dismissal to his 'don't get killed' comment, and then crossed her arms as he started to pace. She opted to just watch him. "Yes..." She trailed off. "A weapon." She flexed her fingers to stare at the ruby ring on her finger, and then shook her head. "No division assignment, I found you right after...coming out of the cove with my weapon..."

A pause.

"...Is this real life?"

< She is not even related to you, yet her stupidity rivals your own. Truly, you are hatch mates. >

<< Squawker, keep silent please. >>

"Yes, Claude. This is real." Lex sighed, having accepted the reality that she was here and had thrown herself, and him, into a terrible situation. "...and Claudia, you're still too rash." He chuckled, fondly patting her shoulder. "Who even allowed you out of the coves without an escort?"

Sigh. This was going to be an ordeal.

"This is some awful movie hybrid to a new comer, Lex." Claude replied flatly, and then quirked a brow. "First, I'm not rash, I'm diligently calculated and two, I'm not ******** five. I don't need supervision to walk around."

She paused a moment, glancing about the room.

"So...is this where you...live?"

Lex rolled his eyes at Claude, shaking his head more. This girl... "Calculated? Coming here on the mere hint that I may have been on this island was not calculated, Claudia." He sighed, not responding to her five year old comment. To Lex, she was eternally five.

He glanced around the room too, unfamiliar with it now that he'd been away and it had been reconstructed due to His Lordship's exploding bracelets of doom. "Only by the books." Lex replied, dragging his finger along the desk and lifting it up, revealing a layer of dust that could only come from disuse. "I live with my girlfr - Ami. I live with a Huntress named Ami in the towns."

s**t, he'd said too much.

Claude shot him a look, because in her opinion, he didn't give her enough credit. "Hey. I scoped out that hint to get it, thank you very much." She crossed her arms, and quirked a brow. Only the books were here? Then where did he--

The neutral look tinged with curiosity faded from Claude's face quickly as Lex answered the question, and despite how he tried to cover it up, she could easily piece it together. He lived with his girlfriend. In some towns. It went arctic in the room, and Claude stood unnervingly still as she stared at her older brother.

"I see." Her tone lacked any feeling. "Aside from the weapons and the monster fighting, what a charming, quaint, and perfect little life you have here, Alexei. Myself excluded."

The overtaking chill in the atmosphere was near audible, the air freezing and cracking with bad energy and icy glares. Lex's own gaze went from slight panic to steel defiance, the three inches he had on the girl making him feel more in power in the situation. Claudia was mad that he'd settled down and made a life here? "Would you rather me have pined for you, doing naught with my life?" He retorted, voice snapping like a whipped rag.

"You're being incredibly selfish, Claude. My entire existence is not about you - you were a large part of it, you will be again - but you must understand that I moved on. Tried to make something out of the situation." Lex began to lecture at that point, eyes flashing dull fire. Repressed anger and glaring disappointment.

"No, but--" Her arms uncrossed and fell to her sides, her hands making loose fists. But what? But she was feeling like a kid again? Back when her mom had passed away and her dad was distant? Back when she had felt alone and she had met Lex and they bonded and she let him in? Then he had up and left with no rhyme or reason and she felt abandoned, because she loved him, because even if they were just step siblings, he was her family. More real than any blood bond she ever had. That's why this was so hard.

Now she felt ******** stupid though. Couldn't he see how much she cared about him!? She felt stupid for caring, and she'd be damned if she opened up just to spill her guts all over the floor. No. No way. She felt ******** stupid right now, and she hated it. Selfish? He was being utterly selfish, too, and yeah, he did move on. Moved on without her. Her fists clenched. She should have said something, right now. An apology, maybe. Explain herself. She should have explained herself better. That she had missed him terribly, and that no, she didn't expect him to stop living on her account but...

These words weren't going to make it out right now, and she never felt so distant from him then she did in this moment.

She was shaking, she realized after some time. She never shook before, and now she couldn't stand to look at him, so she didn't. She kept her chin up though, and her stare to the door.

"I'm glad I found you. I'm glad you're not dead." She finally started, her tone a bit gritted as she willed these words out. "I'm happy I got to see you again." But that was all she could do now, and quickly she moved forward, one arm reaching out to shove Lex out of her path on her way towards the door in ground eating strides.

Lex moved aside coldly, glaring at his step sister. He was not glad to see her, not at all. She'd signed her death warrant, etched her own damned tombstone with this decision. Lex growled lowly as the door slammed shut, sitting into his old cot with a flustered sigh.

He cared about Claude, he always had. She was his little sister, blood or not. They'd been through the hell of manipulative, distant parents together, had to listen to his mother's stupid business schemes at the dinner table, listen to Claude's father's deafening silence. Lex and the girl were peas in a pod, both promiscuous in their later years and stubborn bulls when they found an object or person of their desire. He was even going to let her live in his apartment once she got into university.

Lex's eyes began to moisten, his jaw slacking. He'd missed Claude - she was the one person he ever regretted leaving behind. ******** mom and Dale, ******** the women he'd slept with, ******** his college frat. Claudia was the hardest to let go - and when she'd suddenly come back in to his life? He shoved her away. Yes, she'd done something dangerous and stupid. Yes, he'd lectured and was disappointed in her life choices, but he should have at least said something about how glad he was to see her. Beautiful Claudia, the spitting image of himself as a woman. His partner in crime, the bread to his butter.

And now he'd burned her.

< Quit crying. She'll come back, then you can apologize. >
